E & A Mechanical saved the day as a 2nd opinion AC company sent out by American Home Shield after first company (Crystal Air) tried to commit a fraud and say that my blower motor was out and not covered under warranty; falsely stated that someone had cut my ground wire and shorted the blower motor. I wasn't home to see anything and the Crystal Air tech did not write that on my evaluation invoice. Thank goodness that Hakob from A&E Mechanical tested for a blown capacitor which was the issue and fixed my AC and it works. I know when its hot, some AC companies try to gouge folks; glad that Hakob of A&E Mechanical was honest and even recommended how to keep my attic cooler in order to keep AC components lasting longer. Garry from E&A Mechanical was wonderful. They quickly came out to address the leak we had coming from the back-flow line of the HVAC. Garry quickly identified the issue and resolved it! He also gave us advice as to how to move forward using the services of a plumber - as the main cause was from a sink clog backing up the main AC line. We had another homeowner in our condominium complex that had the exact same issue and the HVAC company that came out told them they needed to replace their entire HVAC system!!!! I called the homeowners and they had Garry take a look and it was the exact same issue - - AC line clog, stemming from a clog in the pipe. $8000.00 to replace vs. a $99.00 service charge! It's hot. My AC wasn't cooling. I have First American Home Warranty which dispatched E&A to handle my repairs. Sometimes, the home warranty company picks poor contractors, but not this time! I could not be more pleased with the service I received. Carmen worked around my schedule to find a time that was convenient for me. The technician was courteous and efficient and he went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable with him working at my home. I've been self-quarantined due to being high risk for Covid-19 and was very nervous to have someone come to my house. From start to finish, this was an excellent interaction. And I'm cool again! This company came through American Home Shield. The tech, a young Russian kid, who arrived in his car and did not speak English very well. He had to call his office to answer any question and also was taking pictures of my unit to send back to his office. He clearly had very little experience. He did not introduce himself and I had to tell him not to get close to me. He was going to put R407c without recapturing the remaining R22 refrigerant and mineral oil (which is recommended). When I questioned him about that he had to call his office again. Then he picked up his gear and left without an explanation except to say that his boss told him to leave. I called the office and nobody answered. I left a message but nobody called back. I am still without A/C. Stay away from this company. Horrible service! read more

This company sent a technician out to fix our air conditioner which had frozen up and stopped working. He added freon and said that would solve the problem. Two hours later we started seeing fluid leaking out of our air conditioner vent inside our house. Not a good combination with wood floors and art work. The company was called and told of the problem but would not send the guy out to fix it. They claimed it was another problem and that we would have to go through our homeowner's insurance again. I said that all I wanted him to do, was undo what he had done as that had made this new problem that was worse than what we had started with. They refused. I now have some kind of liquid leaking into my living room and my kids are about to come home from school. I would NEVER call these people again as they are incompetent, unprofessional and unpleasant to deal with. read more

E & A mechanical was amazing. I had so many problems with my homeowners warranty that covered my air conditioner. Too much red tape, to deal with. Maria stepped up and offered to intercede and deal with the ordering of parts under warranty and talk to the warranty people. She was amazing. Scheduled the whole thing in TWO DAYS where the home warranty had delayed me for a month. Gary showed up and fixed the air conditioner so well it was pumping out freezing cold air in a short period of time. They show up on time and they fix it with competence. I love my new A/C system!!!! Alex (the owner) and his crew were fantastic: professional, clean, and fast. Alex is very patient. He came over to check out my home and provided clear and reasonable reasons why the recommended equipment was the right system for my place. He also provided information and used his experience to answer all my questions. On the day of installation, a large crew of guys came over to disassemble the old unit, carefully and in parts, then installed the new equipment piece by piece, ensuring each piece was properly placed and connected to the rest of the system. I know this because I oversaw the entire operation. I also witnessed the crane lifting the new equipment up to the roof of the building and the old down to the street level. Hardly any noise and well coordinated among all the crew members involved. I notice lots of communication between the roof and apartment crews, and also saw Alex come by many times to inspect the work in progress. The crew cleaned up after themselves and left no trace of a mess or damage to the unit. Alex came by a few times to show me how to use the new Nest Thermostat I got, and did not leave until the hot and cold temperatures were tested successfully. All of this at a bargain price, half of what Sears or Costco were estimating for the same exact equipment and work!! I would definitely recommend E& A Mechanical, thank you Alex & crew!!! read more

They pretty much stole my money. My home warranty company sent them out to check out my Air conditioner that was making a lot of noise. They said I needed a new fan motor on the condenser. Since that was what was making the noise, that made sense. I received a call from them a week later saying that the new motor was approved but in order for them to instal it they had to clean the "inside coils" or it wouldn't work, that would cost me $140.00 (otherwise, it would have been covered by the warranty company). I have never heard of inside coils, I have been a homeowner and a commercial property owner for 20 years and have had 3 6 ton units installed and serviced and my home units installed and serviced, and I din not know that inside coils needed to be cleaned to install a fan motor on the condenser. So, I asked, "the inside of the coils need to be cleaned?", the answer was yes. This was during a heatwave in August or early September and it has already been over a week so I said ok. I wasn't home when they came to service, my 19 year old daughter was. So I set up my camera to record the work being done. The technician changed the fan motor and cleaned the condenser coils on the outside (like I had done a month earlier when we bought the house, with a chemical solvent). He was done in 20 minutes. It is my fault for authorizing the work but I thought that they were going to clean some coils in the air unit inside the attic that I didn't know about or maybe flush the inside of the coils in some way that I was unaware of. RUN DO NOT USE Them!!!!! The technician had to come back twice and the second time he stated the issue has been fixed and needed Freon. He said he ran out and only put in 5 lbs and charged me $40.00 (really $50 but my home warranty pays $10 a pound) a pound = $200.00 without telling me! Then he said he needed to come back and put more in which will be $40.00 a pound! Then I called my warranty company who said they had nothing that the issue has been corrected. I should have written this review long ago! I manage a building in Sherman Oaks, and have worked with E & A for many years now. The number of times they have bent over backwards to accommodate me and my fellow tenants are too numerous to mention. Even when short staffed, if someone's AC goes out, or someone's heat goes out, they are often able to send someone out on the same day, which I know is unusual (I have many friends who are home owners who have had quite the opposite experience with their HVAC companies!). Carmen in particular is fabulous to work with and has stellar customer service skills. And Alex, who is our regular tech, is kind, trustworthy, and can fix truly anything. Levon, the heater technician, was polite and efficient. He was able to diagnose the problem with our heater right away. It needed a new circuit board, which he had to order. Once the order was in (about a week later), he came back and installed the circuit board. He also cleaned out the heater of the loose insulation that had been sucked into the machine in the first place. He was able to do all this in less than 1/2 hour. Now the heater works great. E&A sent Karen to look at my AC issue. He was at my house within minutes. He took his time to explain how the AC unit works and walked me through the trouble shooting process. They installed a brand new AC/heating unit on my roof. Because of my location it was impossible to get a crane to move the giant unit onto the roof. 2 other companies turned me down and said it was impossible. E&A brought a bunch of guys and they used a small hand crank lift to move the unit to the roof. IT WAS AWESOME. I've been so happy with their phone service and the people who have come to my house. First American Home Warranty (whom I also do not recommend) scheduled E&A to come to my house when my A/C went out during a major heat wave. They never showed up for the scheduled appointment and did not even call to tell me. When they finally did come out I was told I had a free-on leak and the A/C unit (37 years old) needed replacing. Then E&A sent out another tech to perform a "pressure test" which took two visits and he came to the SAME conclusion. Took a couple more weeks to get the new unit ordered. When installation day finally came they did not replace the whole thing - just the inside component per FAHW. The tech broke the condensation pan during installation and they had to come out yet again to replace it. At this point I insisted they come on a Saturday because all these visits were causing me to stay home from work. They came, fixed it and now that it is two months later since my claim and the weather is cooler. I went to turn on my heat last night and only cool air came out. I am at my wit's end with E&A and the home warranty company. The techs were nice guys but my unit still does not work properly. FED UP! *Thanks for the apology but my unit still does not work properly - your guys have been to my house several times. read more

This tech Eugene fix our A/C like a super hero, he didnt say to much, walked looked at thermostat walked out went straight to the roof where A/C is and fixed what needed to be done and A/C is running great so far. E&A came out to my house to fix my leaking air conditioner after being assigned to me by First American Home Warranty. I spoke with them right after my claim got set up, and I got a morning appointment in the same week. They came to my house to look at my heater a couple of years ago, and they still give the same great service. Alex called early on the morning of my appointment, and came right over. He immediately diagnosed the problem (a clogged condensation drain line), and cleared it up. Not only that, he showed me how to do it myself in the future so that I wouldn't have to worry about it again. I wasn't able to do it the first time, due to the way that it had been built, so he replaced a small portion of the line that I would be able to remove without tools. I will definitely have them over again in the event that something goes wrong, or if I need a simple maintenance service. read more

E and A was assigned to me by my warranty company. After reading so many 1 star reviews, I was pretty nervous. They seem to have a ton of 1-star, interspersed with a decent number of 5-star reviews. It was either horrible or great. My appt window was 8-11am. The tech, Andre, arrived at 820. He was warm, friendly, very polite and respectful. He seemed thorough. He answered my questions in easy to understand language. And my AC was running in less than 20 mins. But then, only a few minutes after he left, the original problem returned. I called immediately and they said he could come back on mo day. He did, and he said he was stumped. He didn't know what the problem was. He said he would return the next day after consulting with colleagues. The following day when I called, the rep told me that he identified "water in the return air ducts" which required a plumber. And that after the plumber does his part, to call them back and they would come back. This all seems a bit fishy, since he hadn't mentioned that one other visit. And it feels like he is shirking his responsibility. We shall see. More to come.. read more

Best techician sent by first american. It took 2 days to set a appointment (which is understandable its the peak of summer). We were given 1-4 pm appt. Techinician called 20 minutes prior to arrival. On top of that I also recieve a text stating the technician is on his way. Upon arrival techinician introduce self. Assess the problem of ac, asked question pertaning to the problem. He did some test. Inform me what could have happen. He fixed the ac within 30 minutes. Double check again if anything needed to be check on the ac even the filter. He was very professional and I really sense that he knows what he is doing. Some company just do easy fix. This company makes sure everything is fix before they leave.
