I am shocked E & G have closed down. I was just here last month. This was my got to spot since I was in high school. The food was cheap yet delicious always came here all the time until I moved out the area almost 20 yrs ago. The portions were always generous and the price fantastic!! The food was always good. My haves were the chow fun, bbq pork, beef broccoli, lemon chicken, pork fried rice and the chicken chow mein. The had a variety of different dishes even made to order dishes if you didn't want to want to do the already cooked combo plate options. The service was always just okay the staff try to get you in and out as a lot of the time this place would be busy. The staff were never rude or anything like that. The inside was nothing special just some tables and chairs if you wanted to eat inside. I'm really bummed to see this place gone. Hopefully it will become another Chinese food spot. read more

I been coming here for years ordering the wonton soup. Today I place an order over the phone like I always do, they tell me it's going to be 10 minutes, I go pick up my order from Walmart, which took almost 15 minutes on top of the 10 minute drive to the store and I walk in to find that my order wasn't made, they didn't even start making my order until I got there. I asked for my wonton soup and they tell me one minute, but yet I find myself standing there for 5 minutes and finally just said forget it and left. It's very clear to me that they either forgot about my order or didn't want it to make it until they were absolutely sure I was coming in for it. If I wanted to wait 10 to 15 minutes for my order I would not have called my ordered in almost 20 minutes before I got there. Clearly they no longer value loyal customers who come to them over and over and over for their food, no problem I will find somewhere else to get my soup. If I wanted to stand in the store for 10 to 15 minutes waiting for my food I would not have called it in ahead of time. Too bad, because I really enjoyed their wonton soup but I'll be damned if I keep giving my hard-earned money to someone that doesn't appreciate it. read more

Visited this location that had so much great looking food. You can see the food and make a selection. I asked her to surprise me. The food was delicious. I took home chow mein, a chicken dish with vegetables, a battered seafood dish, and some finger foods. Everything was so tasty. If you're in the Pittsburg area, you need to try this place. read more

Ive been coming here for years and sad to say it is not the same. I believe they must have changed owners or something because the food is no where what it used to be. They've gone from fried rice to steamed with vegetables in it and they no longer make fresh hot sauce. They give you pre packeted hot sauce similar to panda express. I've been meaning to try this place out for sometime now. Luckily, after roaming around Pittsburg, I decided that today is the day. Going in your greeted with a rather mall establishment. There's not a lot of seating so on a busy lunch day I can imagine just how busy this place could get. Heading further in you can see the trays of food. Not a huge selection of food but it never promoted itself to that much food. There was fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, some fried shrimp, beef and broccoli; basically the basics. You can grab a food item by itself in three varying sizes. The cheapest size is like one large school. Can be eaten in less than a minute. That's what I got. Fried rice in the smallest container. $2.25 but it went up to $2.95 because they change 50 cents more when you use debit/credit for a purchase under 10 dollars. There's also combos for a container of three items, four items, or more. They even got soup. I liked the service, but the food wasn't all that good. It could have been better. Mmmmm.... connective tissue.... Yelp describes two starts as "Meh. I've experienced better." That's definitely fair for E&G Chinese. This is not a place pretending to be anything special. They're like a mini buffet where you can not eat all you like, nor may you serve yourself. What makes it 'like' a buffet is that the food is not made fresh at your request, but rather piled in each dishes respective bins ready to be scooped. I come here when I want a cheap meal and am not in the mood to be full. The ladies behind the counter serve you portions that are probably appropriate for them, but not for a grown man. I just finished my meal and all the effort of separating the meat from the connective tissues has probably burned as many calories as I've taken in eating it. I ordered the two item combo which comes to just over $4 so there really isn't much room to complain about portion size, but it's not like the food is fresh made for me. It's just a heap of stuff... and it's not high quality. There's a balance taking place here at E & G, though I do say, I always feel a little off balance after eating here. I've eaten here 3 times and have checked in on Yelp twice which has made me the "Duke". I've saw many different reviews about this place and from my experience. It's a nice establishment for grabbing lunch and or a simple but tasty dinner. I have not experienced what the others have as far as bad service. They workers are very nice to me and even remember what items i like ordering regularly. I read a review where the guy pretty much made up a complaint all because they didn't take his American Express card and that's very petty to as far as the negative comments go. Mostly this is a takeout joint, sometimes with a line out the door The food here is pretty good; most people seem to agree that the wonton soup is one of the best they have ever had. The chicken wings are tender yet crisp and tasty. Beef and Broccoli tends to be a little heavy on the soy sauce but still pretty good. I like the Fried Rice, the Fried Wontons, Egg Rolls, Chow Fun, Chow Mein, Kung Pao Chicken, Moo Goo Gai Pan, Sweet and Sour Pork. They have all the standard American-Chinese fair No waiter service, plates or silverware. You stand in line get your food in a Styrofoam food container and plastic silverware nothing fancy. This place should be closed down! I went to this place yesterday, new to the Antioch/Pittsburg area. I wanted some Chinese food for dinner. So I looked up the nearest Chinese restaurant. I came across this place and decided to try it out. First red flag was you can't do half and half (chowmein and fried rice), second the lady scooping my fried rice gave me only like two scoops like WTH, you're stingy as hell. Then I got the broccoli and beef which tasted so damn salty and nasty, and last but not least I got the chicken wings which she only gave me THREE chicken wings. What the heck kinda crap is that. That was not worth $10 plus tax. What a rip. First and last time going to this place. The owner of this business needs to take a field trip to Richmond and visit Lee's Garden by Contra Costa College on how to make a proper plate with fresh hot food and cheaper prices!!!!This place deserves a negative star but since that's not an option one star will have to do!!!!! read more
