I've gotten sushi here a few times, they are good and the pineapple fried rice is very good.

I order from this place at least once a week and it's usually really good. I've ordered a couple of things that just weren't up to par. Depends on what you order and when you order it. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad. Can't always rely on them. But the pros definitely outweigh the cons here. Nice friendly staff, quick deliveries. read more

Fresh Pond Road is littered with restaurants and delis. Everything is run of the mill, except for this little jewel. E-Chiban Sushi Japanese Restaurants opened up a little over a year ago. It's minimalist decor, and small space (There can't be more than 12 tables), is contrasted by it's superb sushi menu. While it offers all of the usuals at regular prices, the real gems are the Chef's Special Roll's. The Magical Roll is truly magical on your taste buds with its spicy crunchy tuna inside, and eel, shrimp, avocado, tobiko, and scallion eel sauce on top. Definitely extravegant. My personal favorite is the Crispy Spicy Tuna Roll. This entire roll is deep fried rice, topped with spicy tuna, oshinko, and tobiko. It is unlike anything I've had at any other sushi restaurant. Just writing about it is making me crave sushi. Hopefully reading it will make you crave it too! Long live sushi. read more

This place was pretty good, when I dined in there was no problem. The food came fast and it was delicious. My friends and I had sushi ... the Spicy yellowtail was the best! No complains there. However the other day I ordered in and the only problem there was the delivery guy. He wasn't very nice, he was basically yelling at me. Too bad I didn't understand him. Still the food that I ordered was excellent! I had the Curry Ocean, and the spicy yellow tail again. Along with a shrimp roll. All delicious! If you're in the mood for sushi, go for it! read more

I ordered the wonton egg drop soup. It was absolutely inedible. The broth was slime and then when I asked them to take it back and asked for a miso soup (which was too salty) they charged me for the food I did not eat. Will not come back. Do not recommend. read more

I always order from this place, about 20+ times. The best thing to order is crab rangoon and pad thai. They always were so fast and fresh.

I'm a picky eater, and I've just moved to Ridgewood. And I gotta say, this is the Go-To restaraunt in the area. I've been in search of an oriental food place, have tried so many greasy chinese place, or not-fresh sushi place. And this is it. The food are phenomenal, especially the thai menu, with their lo mein and padkee mao. I walked in on them one morning while the chef was cutting and trimming the fats of a huge fish, which was gross, but it means their fish are fresh. The staff here are friendly, especially the front. The lady or the young boy always greets me with a big or shy smile, though sometimes they tell you to wait when their phone ring. What incurred me to write this review was that I was 50 cents short away from hitting the $30 mark for the free california roll, and the boy just waived it for me, saying "don't worry about it," with a smile. Also, the front desk actually speaks english, and you don't have to haggle with Whats and Huhs, and they actually know what gluten-free means. read more

My husband and I were headed to an Italian restaurant but it was so packed we decided to leave. We happen to just walk past Echiban and decided to give it a try. It's a really small place but I didn't mind that. We decided to try the chicken teriyaki bento box. The first thing they served was the miso soup, which tasted bad it actually tasted like dirty water. We were served our bento box quickly and everything was delicious. The service was great, fast & friendly. I'm not sure I'll go back, but it wasn't such a bad experience. read more

This restaurant sucks. One bite and you can tell its not authentic Japanese food. Worst of all, the service was extremely rude. As a matter of fact, my nasty waitress was Korean, and not Japanese. Not that it mattered all that much, but when I asked her one simple question, she looked at me as if I had just killed her grandmother. It started as we sat down..."you can stay here as long as you want, but we close at 10:30pm." Jeez, thanks for making us feel welcome. When questioned about having low sodium soy sauce in the bottles, she copped a hissy fit and practically THREW four packets of soy sauce at our table. WTF!?! I didn't even ask for the packets in the first place. She kept on walking by our table to see if we did use the packets, and two minutes she tried to grab them back. Sounds ridiculous doesn't it? This all happened, I can assure you. Then she talked smack in Korean whenever she passed by the table. That's okay. I'll go somewhere else for Japanese next time. read more

Ordered a spicy tuna roll. It tasted very stale and weird. I ended up throwing it out. Waste of my money.

The place is small. Their food is not bad, but its not great either. For better Japanese take a walk over to Sakura IV.

Ordered the White River roll really good not too spicy. Also tried the paradise roll the mango added a good kick.

I really like this place. My husband and I started coming looking for some variety. We were tired of the same takeout food in our neighborhood. Long story short, we now order or dine in at least once a week. I think is the best for sushi in our area. The 5th star would come when they add uni to their selection and the tamago can improve (was dry last time). Horrific! I ordered take out twice and threw away the food both times. I was so mad at myself for giving this place another chance. The first time I ordered sushi and it was warm & the raw fish not fresh. The second time I ordered a hot shrimp dish with rice and it was so gross I couldn't force myself to eat it. Again, the cooked shrimp was not fresh. They can easily improve by starting to serve their customers fresh ingredients. read more

I love this place. Small, good prices, good sushi. Service is quick and just what you need when you're hungry. They used to play music inside, which made it more restaurant-like. It seems like more of a take out place, but I love eating inside. They decorate their plates nicely! Sushi is always fresh and delicious. LOVE their Thai Iced Tea too! read more

I've got to say, the food wasn't bad. The plates were dressed nicely and the food was seasoned well. The place itself is a bit small but it is neat and tidy. The wait staff were a bit slow but it was really no big deal. All-in-all, I'd say give it a try. read more

After being ignored by the lady at the hostess stand a waitor finally seated us. There was no hello or even a smile. No eye contact . . Nothing . Zip . .. i waited and watched as the employees scurried along without so much as a glance in my direction . No water, no menus, no apologetic "I'll be right with you"... so, i got up after what may have been enough time to disgust me and bring me to my breaking point and walked right out the door... no customer service or etiquette and i will never return . .EVER !!! read more

This will exceed your expectations for a Ridgewood sushi place. Fresh, well-prepared food that sometimes falls slightly on the wrong side of peculiar. Decor is snazzy (for the price range) and clean; lunch specials are okay. Not a bad neighborhood sushi stop. read more

I order delivery from E-Chiban probably twice a week. The sushi is always fresh and the prices are the best in my area. I also love the variety of Asian dishes - the boyfriend can order Chinese and I still get my sushi. Delivery is usually incredibly fast as well. read more

I recently tried this place. I tried one piece. The sushi was room temperature and clammy, and smelled bad, instead of cold, like most reputable Sushi restaurants. When i brought my order back and complained, the young lady at the counter was very rude, and tried to tell me it was warm because the rice was hot. I eat plenty of sushi in NY city, and never had this problem. The so called "Chef" told me that I "don't know Sushi". yeah right. Instead of accomodating me, she put my money on the counter, without any apology, at all. Really rude. I'll never step foot in there again. Really good sushi for a Queens neighborhood. Their eel is especially good--perfectly broiled--and the only roll that I didn't like too much was the sweet tofu roll, it was spongy and not very appetizing. For some reason, they tend to throw tempura flakes into their rolls outta left, so if that's something you like, then great. But fresh, delicious sushi overall, and good service.
