This is the third time I came to the restaurant. The first time the experience was great, and service was good. The second time I when visit the service started declining, but it was ok. But this time the experience was horrible!!! The server turn the grill so high that the food got burned in a second, I couldn't even get a chance to flip the meat. when the server put the meat on the grill, the server just walked away, nobody cares about you. They just walk away, I feel like they just don't care about consumers. And they still add the service fee in the check, which I don't think they deserve, so disappointing to this restaurant. My fav kbbq place. #1 thing is it's on a charcoal grill, so it surpasses many other kbbq places just for that. Also the price ayce 29.99 for the quality and selection cannot be beat. If you're a sides person like me this place is king for a variety of sides including dumplings, soups, steam egg, cheese corn(my fav), and many others that I dont know the names of lol Recommended meats: any cuts of spare ribs Thin sliced pork belly Marinated pork steak Also, the service is impeccable. So this was a date night pick for me. I so enjoyed this one particular place because it's so hands on. My date wasn't familiar with Korean bbq but all staff made it very simple for our experience. They were helpful with getting food in and out and properly temp. The guest were amazing as they arrived and enjoyed their food as well. We were there's for over and hour with no complaints. We went for the AYCE option so we can play with different meats and my date loved it. Even through complaints me and staff together were able to introduce different foods and it helped our experience even more. Out host did say their only true competition is Iron Age and no one else and that we should try it. I found that pretty cool. He wasn't trying to save all the good to himself ;). Truly enjoyed the food, service and vibe at EM Bop! I came here with a large group of friends and didn't know how this place would compare to other KBBQ spots. I was impressed with the everything and would definitely be back! Thoughts and Recommendations: - It's a nice clean space! Like many restaurants, they don't look like much on the outside but EM Bop has nice high ceilings, and decent decor. - Food was delicious! The grills are charcoal grills which automatically give the meats that amazing flavor. We tried the beef bulgogi, beef brisket, and marinated chicken and they were all so good! The sides were okay... we tried the udon noodles that were sub-par but the pot stew was yummy. The dipping sauces and radishes were typical and great to have on hand. - Great ventilation system! When you leave most kbbq places you have the grilled meat smell clinging to your clothes and hair. I noticed that wasn't the case when I left EM Bop which I greatly appreciate! I thought I try this place after looking for something new in Duluth, and after going to this restaurant about 5 times, I can comfortably write a review about this place. Decor and Cleanliness: Place is clean, and it can host big parties. The bathroom appears to be clean, so that's always a good sign. Tables and other items on the table were clean as well. It has a large open space, and so you won't feel cramped in a small room. Food: BBQ Meat - EM Bop's meat is solid. I really love the charcoal aspect of this grill, but the biggest part, which I love is the built in air vent that sucks up all the smoke before it hits the air. Whenever I go to 9292, 678, 770, etc. Korean BBQ places, I end up leaving with meat or charcoal smell. Safe to say, I don't have that issue at this restaurant. The vent system is pretty solid. The beef are marbleized beautifully and very juicy. They are filled with flavor, and the restaurant does provide a good set of quality meat. Side Dishes - One thing I noticed is that the side dishes are getting sweeter and sweeter. I would have given this place a 4 star, but the over-usage of sugar in EM Bop's food has you leaving diabetic. I am not sure what the deal is, but the side dishes have been getting progressively sweeter. Non-BBQ Dishes - Overall, they are great, but again, I started to notice the heavy progression towards sweetness. Some of the seafood "jjim" are sweeter than it should be. Even their "jjigae" or stews are getting sweeter. Other than that, they are great hearty meals, but the sweetness is getting out of hand. All the portions are great at this restaurant, and you won't leave hungry. I do recommend it if you are nearby, but I just hope they tone down on the sugar because it's going to trigger diabetes on people. read more

Comparing this restaurant to other KBBQ in the area i think it can hold its own. Comparing the price to its competitors, it is a little bit higher. but the meat seemed pretty fresh! SERVICE:: the manager was pretty good at keeping up with our requests.. i'm thinking with a little bit more training and attentiveness this place could really round out the experience here. They're not really going fast either so be a little patient.. im sure when they get busy and have more people working it will be better.. I love seeing smiling faces when i get served too, hopefully they can work on that.. sometimes when the food isnt the best people give the place another chance because of the awesome service and that made them feel. With the competition very strong in this area you compare more with details. DRINK:: their soju is typical little green bottle, try the APPLE or Grapefruit!!! i believe it was around $15, not bad.. they had typical korean beers like Hite. They were very attentive with refilling our water. FOOD:: *Seafood Udon - i LOVED the squid in this dish.. not over cooked and the flavor is a little bit spicy.. there were a few types of seafood in the dish.. from what i can remember, mussels, clams, and squid. i really loved the noodles not over cooked.. MUST TRY! Yummy!! *Seafood Pancake - very good! not too salty, there were little bits of oysters/clams, cooked very well.. table favorite! *Short Rib - this is BONE-OUT , i thought it would come with the bone in like usual but this did not... kinda sweet and have really good flavor. *Beef Brisket - very good quality. *Steak (Prime Rib Eye i think) - this was my favorite.. very tender, *Pork Belly - could be better, i wish it was more seasoned.. *Miso Soup - i didnt like it at all, had a weird taste to it.. maybe it's because im not in LUV with miso.. it's complicated.. *Tofu Soup - could be better.. but i like food with loads of flavor, might hit the spot for the older folks! *side dishes: i liked the all the sides.. only improvements would be to add rice cake!!! I was invited to try most of E.M Bop's dishes and I must say, this place has solid kbbq! Starting off with the entrées, my group and I don't eat pork, so we had the marinated chicken, beef bulgogi, oyster blade balgi, and beef brisket. The oyster blade was so FREAKING good!!!! I was sure the brisket would top that as that is usually my fav but the balgi definitely surprised me. The chicken was my least favorite. It was not as flavorful and was a little rubbery. The service was decent. You don't cook the meat yourself. The servers will check frequently and add and turn over the meat for you which was a nice break. The side dishes were solid, but not the greatest. One of my friends arrived 30 minutes early, and the sides were already out. Not sure if they were already placed before she came and if so, for how long. I was a little peeved by that. Time will tell, more like my stomach, if anything got spoiled. One of the dishes aside from their normal banchan spread was a green chai pancake, similar to scallion pancake, but with a different twist. I really liked that. They also had a bulgogi hot pot stew which was really good! The seafood udon was okay. The octopus was extremely tough to eat and lacked flavor. The restaurant owner also went out to get us dessert (ice cream) from elsewhere as they don't serve it at their establishment. I thought that was so nice! I had a great experience overall! I've heard the food is just okay. I wouldn't know, because apparently if you're by yourself you have to spend a minimum of $80 to eat here. They don't specific anywhere that the AYCE requires at least 2 people. The people there also won't let you know until it's your turn on the waiting list, and were fairly rude about letting me know that I couldn't eat there after waiting 15 minutes. Was looking for some authentic Korean bbq and this was the spot!! The variety of meat options on the all you can eat menu is unparalleled at any of the competitors. And THE CHARCOAL GRILL. The flavor the charcoal added to the dishes really made it an experience to remember. The staff was also exceptional. We had some technical issues with our grill at first but they were able to resolve it quickly and seamlessly. they gave close attention to each of our meat dishes and always took the time to be sure our food was fully cooked to temperature. I love this place it's one of my favorite Korean places that is my go to. I have came here multiple times and it never disappointed. There all you can eat has so much variety of meats which I love and they give two options of acye 30 dollars or acye 25 so I would say it's pretty affordable for what you get. The environment is great as well it's dimmed and cute interior, good for a date or even gathering with friends. They also have a whole menu if all you can eat isn't your thing, that menu has many different other options to pick from. Service mark of all is really great I never had a problem with them here. Let's first off saying that service was great and the workers are super friendly. This place recently opened but I don't think they are ready. The issue is the grill, the grilling plate is touching the charcoal and has no room for air to move around. I felt really bad for my waiter who had to hold the grilling plate 2-3 inches above the coal to even cook the meats. The other problem is the side dishes, I honestly did not like any of them in particular especially the random pickled Napa cabbage. They had no steamed egg, japchae, cucumber, bean sprouts, rice paper, which is common in the other 7-8 Korean BBQ places around us. When my friends and I came to eat, it was normal for about the first 50 minutes, but after that, the staff was no longer happy and started to be unhappy and urged you to pay and leave. They didn't care because no matter what the attitude was. Anyway, the tip is always 20%+ for each person entering the restaurant so I think they don't care much about customer feelings. I think the restaurant owner should review the service of the staff with a 20% tip, they should do better and the staff's attitude must be happy. read more

Unfortunately, I discovered they closed their Alpharetta location, so I make the drive each & every time to this location in Duluth. Overall I like the flavor. Good marinade. What I don't like is the servers using a tong that touch raw chicken to grab the cooked meat. She threw raw chicken on the grill and touch my cooked meat. One waiter was slightly rude and made it seem like he was rushing us to eat then leave when it's a all you can eat ayce. Side dishes get worse evetytime we come . They excuse they don't have anymore but u see the other tables have it . Pork belly is all fattening , no water refills . Every time we ask to order something else the waiters have attitude . Service charge of 20$ for three people when they made us feel like we shouldn't be ordering more . We first came here year ago is was good now each time we come it's worse . My opinion is if your going to open a restaurant don't be rushing customers out the door especially they are paying for food and if your a waiter be there to do your job or else clock out and go home at the end we are paying our money we work for to give them. My son and 5 of his friends went to eat on a Monday night. Service was horrible. The coals were low and my son asked for more coal. They never brought it. It took 20 mins to cook a order of pork belly for 6 guys. The servers basically ignored them. After an hour and half they left still hungry. How disappointing. I went in on a Sunday night at 9pm with a party of 3 to celebrate a special occasion. The hostess gathered menus and was preparing to seat us, then we were told by another hostess that they were "closed early today" although online it says they were open until 11pm. This was also what their sign had said outside. I don't want to assume, but I believe we were denied entry because one of the members of the party was African American. To further confirm our suspicions: 1.) she peeped outside of the door at us shortly after & 2.) we waited for another party to arrive, and they were given immediate entry (this shouldn't have to be stated, but they were of Asian descent). Ultimately, I am very disappointed by this occurrence, and I will not be giving this establishment any recommendations or any of my money. SMH. read more
