Surprisingly close to Chinatown. Even tho you have to drive down Main for it :P Coming in, you see how much space E-Sea Fresh has and you're surprised at how clean everything is. It's like you're in another part of LA. The pain here is parking is "one way", which means you come in one way, and out the other. But the gate for "out the other" is sometimes closed, so.... have fun. You wanna eat? I got the pad see ew cuz I love thick noodles :D Pad see ew- flat rice noodle, chinese brocolli, egg, and soy sauce You can substitute glass noodles: $1 Then you get to choose what you want as a topping: Meat: Chicken, pork, tofu, vegetable $8.95 Beef $9.95 Shrimp $9.95 Seafood $10.95 I got seafood, and a good amount of seafood in there as well. They have mussel, shrimp, fish, squid all stuck in there. It's gonna be on the edge of "fills you up" but will still leave you a little bit of hunger at the end, until you let all the food digest. When you eat it hot, oh gosh. The smell is amazing :D It's fresh and you have some seasoning on top (it's some sweet powder) and it adds so much flavor to the top of the pad see ew. Should I have eaten two :P I'm hungry for another pad see ew now haha.

Big and clean place. Food is good here. I have been eating here since 2010. They have never disappointed me. I love Rad Na noodle with pork ( wok fried rice noodle with gravy/sauce-stock+tapioca starch- and marinated pork). This dish is my favorite dish here. The gravy is so tasty, not too salty and not too sweet. Some places are way too sweet or too salty from the soy sauce. If you like more sweet, you can add sugar (while it is still hot). The noodle itself doesn't stick to each other much like other places. Also It is not too oily. Pork is soft and yummy! Tip for this dish **Try to add the vinegar with preserved chili from the condiment to get a little bit of sour taste** My other dishes I would recommend is Prik King over rice (add a fried egg on top! ). Prik King is fried Red Curry paste (dry curry...NO coconut milk) with meat and string beans. It seems like they make their own curry paste. Nice sweetness . I love the smell of their curry paste! If I am in a hurry I'll order for pick up. I would recommend Ground chicken Pad GraPow (stir-fried garlic chili basil) Also, add fried egg on top. If you can't eat it right away after it comes out from the kitchen, It is still yummy after it gets cold. Fresh Thai basil leaves, fresh chili, not super spicy, a little bit of sweet , a little bit of salty..so yummy. Duck noodle is really good here too! Many dishes are good here! I can't explain them all! You have to come try it yourself :) Nowadays, this place is getting more busy at lunch hour. More people found out about this place. Come a little before or after lunch hours would be better. You will get faster service :) Most of the time, they have only one server here. Only when they get very busy, they will have extra help. Most of businesses/Shops in this mall are owned by the same family. They can get help from each other. If you get slow service, please be patient, you will satisfy when your food come out.

    crispy pork with broccolo

Hidden gem of a Thai restaurant. I was very impressed by this establishment. It was clean and big. You know the owner prides himself on cleanliness when the light covers show no sign of dirt or dust. The bathrooms are maintained. Tables are clean. Located in the same plaza/lot as LAX-C wholesale they have ample parking. They accept credit card. Food was phenomenal for the price. It tastes authentic Thai with the char that permeates throughout your dishes. Duck noodle soup was packed with flavor. It hits you with a sweetness initially then comes in with a kick of spice. They definitely do not skimp you on the duck. We also ordered the fried rice and the crispy pork with broccoli. The pork was crispy and generous in servings as we'll with the pork soaking in the sauce that enhances its savory components. Service is A+. Granted we came in on a Saturday afternoon and there were only a couple tables of people, one lady was doing it all. She was taking orders, serving, and bussing the tables. She was very nice and sweet. For one person, she always came by to refill our waters and check up on us. Thank you for your great service. It just made me extra happy to enjoy my meal. The price to value ratio is on point. You get generous amounts of food with such great flavor for a very affordable price. Also close by after you enjoy your meal you should check out the coconut cakes. Those are bomb.

Crispy Pork with String Beans and an egg ($1.50 extra) - MUST ORDER

This unassuming restaurant in an unassuming plaza at an unassuming part of town is FANTASTIC!!! What a hidden gem?!?! Very simple place but the delicious food more than makes up for the blah decor. The waitress is also very friendly and helpful with navigating through the menu. Their food is seasoned really well and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend the Crispy Pork with either green beans or Chinese broccoli. They also have extra seasoning/spices available on the tables so you don't have to ask for them. However the dishes I've tried were already well seasoned so there's no need to add anything else, except for extra spice if your mouth can handle that. They also have a big, free parking lot which makes your lunch adventure convenient. I'm already a regular at this joint.

looking for a clean roomy thai food restaurant? e-sea is that place. ordered: *duck noodle- waitress told me this is one of their popular items. i would say to her now: why? honestly i started taking the boat noodle soup and the noodles from this dish and mixing it since this dish wasn't making the cut for me. *yen ta foo- one of the worst yen ta foo i have had. this is my mom's favorite go to thai entree and she was quite disappointed. *boat noodle soup- really good. you can ask for different level of spice. i would recommend the boat noodle soup for sure! i would come back just for this. why did i give them such a low score? the staff charged me 15% gratuity. i had to question her why and she acted as if she didn't understand what i was asking. then she pulled out the menu and i pointed out to her that the menu clearly states that a party of 6 or more is an automatic charge of 15%. i was a party of 3.5 (.5 because my 8 month old son can't even eat anything). so why did she automatically charge 15% without asking me. good thing i looked at the receipt or else i would've give extra tip on top of that. long story short, she gave me what she owed me and i gave her a tip on how i felt. and obviously i was pretty unimpressed by what she did. tips: *shared parking lot with other businesses *charges 15% gratuity for parties of 6 or more *TV available *restroom available for customers *credit card and cash accepted *high chair available

Khao Man Gai - Hainan Chicken with rice and soup ($7.95)
    Jane L.

E-Sea Fresh Restaurant is a Thai restaurant located around the corner of LAX-C Supermarket. They serve authentic Thai food here. The restaurant is super spacious. There's some Thai decorations on the wall but otherwise it's very simplistic. There's lots of booths and tables. Their menu has a limited selection of Thai dishes including noodle soups, pan fried noodle dishes, entrees, meat dishes, rice dishes, curries, and desserts. There are three different types of curries here. This includes red curry, green curry, and yellow curry. For curries you can choose between chicken, pork, tofu, vegetable, beef, shrimp and seafood. For noodle soups, you have a choice between egg noodles, thin rice noodles, rice vermicelli noodles, glass noodles, and flat rice noodles. What I've tried here so far: *Khao Man Gai (also known as Hainan Chicken) - Beautifully presented! The chicken was tender, the sauce was good, and the rice was soft. The sauce is a mixture of fresh ginger, soybean, thai chili, vinegar, and soy sauce. *Duck noodle soup with choice of flat rice noodles - The aroma of the duck broth smells so good. There's generous portions of duck and flat rice noodles. The duck broth was incredibly rich in flavor and it ran down smooth. It was amazingly delicious. Duck was tender and flat rice noodles had perfect texture. *Yellow Chicken Curry - Coconut curry flavor was fantastic along with tender white meat portions and tasty potatoes all of which absorbed the flavor really well. *Papaya Salad - The papaya is fresh and crunchy with the flavors being sweet, sour, and spicy! They don't use MSG for any of their dishes! Service has been superb. The waitresses we've encountered so far were super nice and very attentive. Overall, fantastic Thai food with great service! Will be back here for another visit!

    Chicken pad see ewe
    Lloyd B.

The menu consists of only 10 items. There are popular Thai dishes like duck noodle soup, pad see ewe, pad Thai, and pork leg. So, you're probably going to find something to try but will you like it? E-Sea Fresh is new which probably explains why the place is deserted. There was only one other person here for lunch besides us or was that the busboy. Then again, it's not easy to find behind the iron gates that surround the complex. Yelp states that they're open until 9pm but they actually close at 5pm so you're probably looking at having lunch here. The service was friendly and prompt. The food could have been way better though. I ordered the Hinan (as spelled on their menu) chicken and it wasn't exactly Hainan nor was it necessarily Thai steam chicken over rice. The dish consisted of a simple slice of maybe five pieces of all white meat served over regular steamed rice (not the ginger rice you'd expect if it were a Thai dish). The chicken had no hint of garlic or ginger whatsoever. It was as plain as it comes and it was served with the Thai garlic/chili/soy sauce for the chicken and not the familiar ginger soy or sweet dipping sauces you'd expect of a true Hainan dish. Meh. The Thai ice coffee was good though! If you're looking for Thai food in the area, Lax-C, which is literally right around the corner in the same complex, serves tastier authentic dishes inside their warehouse.

    Duck Noodle Soup

This has become one of my favorite places to get Thai food! This restaurant has a lot of tables and booths. Great for couples, families and groups. The menu includes all the typical Thai dishes that you'd expect. Food: -Duck Noodle Soup: So good! Must try! The best duck noodle soup I've ever had! The rice noodles were cooked perfectly and the broth was rich and flavorful. I wanted to lick the bowl clean! -Hainan Chicken (Khao Man Gai): Very good! Not as good as Nong's in Portland OR but close enough. You can order with white or dark meat. The soy/ginger sauce added a nice touch of flavor to the rice. -Pad Thai: Best I've ever had! The noodles were cooked perfectly. The flavors were great. It wasn't too sweet. And they didn't drown the dish in crushed peanuts and bean sprouts. I usually don't like Pad Thai but this place changed my mind. -Pad See Ew: This is always my go to dish that helps me determine whether I like a Thai restaurant or not and they did a great job! The rice noodles, Chinese broccoli, and the flavors were all balanced well. Loved it! Parking: Plenty of free parking in the lot The only con was that service was a bit slow. And they messed up my order on my second visit but they gave me a free Thai Tea to make up for it. :) Will definitely come back! :)

    Thai boat noodle

Parking: there's a lot in front. Food: I came at 11AM and ordered red curry with chicken, Thai boat noodle soup and Thai fried rice with a Thai iced coffee. Total was $29. The food was amazingly good. The Thai boat noodle soup was extremely flavorful and the pork was soft. The spices they had on the table were a little too spicy for me. Even the chili oil. The fried rice is really good and the red curry was spicy and flavorful. I would definitely come back, it seemed like when I was leaving the crowd started showing up.

The consistency of quality of this place earns them five stars. It's the best Thai restaurant outside of Thai town(Hollywood).

Duck noodle soup with fat noodles
    Linh T.

The duck soup is a must here! They are generous with the duck, the fat rice noodles are fresh, the broth is light and not salty at all. There's a couple of options for the noodles, but I recommend the fat rice ones. The toppings of green onions and bean sprouts give the soup a great balance and texture. There's 4 different spices at the table to spruce it up if you like- I did so with the crushed red chili flakes and others did so with as well and added jalepenos. This is the perfect place for spicy food lovers. I ordered a Thai Iced Coffee and it was okay so not sure I would get that again. The service was good and quick, the place was large and clean and there's parking in the lot that's one direction so kind of a pain to get out. I will definitely be back for this soup among other dishes.

Fried pork with green beans, fried egg, over rice. It's very delicious, got medium spicy and it wasn't very spicy.

Quite the hidden gem! The prices are fair, quick and easy service, with a parking lot. I recommend trying the duck noodle soup, it's a bit salty but still very delicious and the duck is very tender.

    Duck noodle soup
    Kelly N.

Been here a few times and nevertheless the server is never friendly. The restaurant is big but it's always empty the times I was there. We usually order the duck noodle soup and rad nah. They give a lot of duck but for some strange reason, there's never enough noodles. Noodles are cheaper that duck so not sure why the noodle portion is so little. I didn't like the rad nah. There was too much starch in the gravy and once again there wasn't enough noodles. What's going on here???

The regular menu is quite expensive with the cheapest at $17 for appetizer and salad options and most expensive at a whooping $80. The lunch menu was more affordable but still on the pricey side $21-$32 with add on options. The waitress was taking our orders and what surprised me was with my co-worker ordered the pad see ew and the waitress asked her how spicy she wants it. I was aw shocked. I'm not a Thai food expert but I do know pad see ew is a noodles dish that's offers a sweet soy sauce flavor. Never served spicy. I didn't get to try the dish but when I asked my co worker how it taste she said it was spicy and not sweet at all. I'm not sure that was an authentic pad see ew. I ordered from the lunch menu and got the tumeric chicken, with steamed vegetables and paid extra $7 to substitute for a papaya salad. I asked for #2 spice level but it was not spicy at all. Other co workers said they asked for medium but it was way too spicy. So it looks like their spicy levels are inconsistent. I'm not sure how this restaurant can justify the prices with the quality they are serving. Probably won't be back. Service was mediocre. Didn't offer to refill our waters. At the end I apologized and she was like "it's ok, next time." And she was genuinely fine with it. She reassured me not to worry about it. So I'm determined to come back to tip her because if anybody deserved a tip it was her. I ordered Pad Thai with tofu- I like to order peanut sauce on the side and the woman found it interesting and struck a non judgmental conversion about it. I could really tell she was genuinely curious. This was my favorite dish. It was good. I also ordered spicy fried rice with tofu and spicy panang curry with vegetables. I don't know if it's regional but it was very light in taste and light in thickness. BUT I enjoyed it for what it was. Felt like I had gotten home made chicken soup or something like that comforting and not overly processed. Maybe it's because I ordered it with no protein and just vegetables. I ordered a lot of food so I explained to her that I was going to eat some and take the rest to go. When she brought the food she brought it nicely packed without a bag. This place is by far my favorite Thai restaurant and that's why it's so disheartening to write this…read morereview. I have written at least 2 glowing reviews of the restaurant in the past and wish this could be one of them, but it's not. Over the last 4-5 days I have tried no less than 2 dozen times to call the restaurant during proper business hours to order food for pick-up as I often do. The phone rang and rang to no avail. I live too far from the restaurant to just pop up and place an order so I rely on calling ahead. I have been a customer of this restaurant for at least the last 9 years and have almost never had the aforementioned experience. Though I do recall not being able to get a call through several times on one or two occasions in the relatively distant past. Today I was finally able to get a call through and began placing my order which includes shrimp. I ALWAYS request the tail (with shells) to be removed from the shrimp as I find it quite difficult to enjoy my meal if I'm constantly having to pick off shells with my hands. It's unsanitary and messy. Removing the tails from 15-20 shrimp prior to adding to an entree or soup should take no more than 60 seconds and that's if one is moving at a glacial pace. However, today I was told that the kitchen was too busy to honor my request. I assured the lady taking my order than I was a loyal customer and make this request will every order I place and it is always honored. She repeated her claim that the kitchen was too busy and refused to do it. I cancelled my order and ended the call. Now I usually order food from the restaurant 4-5 times a month and usually spend about $65 each time not including tip. That is approximately $325 per month of my hard earned money that I give to this restaurant in exchange for great food and service. I am appalled and quite upset that having been a loyal customer for almost a decade and spending as much money there as I do per month that they could at least honor my patronage by simply taking an additional 60 seconds in the kitchen to make my meal more enjoyable. Her refusal to do such a minuscule task has deeply soured my experience with Hoy-Ka not to mention the fact that I could not reach the restaurant for almost a week by phone for no apparent reason. I will not be going back to this restaurant until they rectify this situation.

Twelve years ago, I fell in love with Au Lac and wrote a glowing review. Living on LA's Westside, I…read morerarely make it to Downtown, so today was my first visit back since then. I can't believe it's been 12 years--and I'm so happy to say it was every bit as incredible as I remembered. My friend and I came for lunch. I ordered the vegetable pho, and she had the curry rice. Both dishes were absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, comforting, and beautifully prepared. Honestly, I wish we had more time because we had another appointment downtown. I would have loved to try more dishes and definitely dessert! Our server was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and incredibly professional. He checked on us at just the right moments without ever feeling intrusive. The service was as impressive as the food. The restaurant has such a warm, relaxing atmosphere. I especially loved the beautiful ceramic water cups with bird designs--they were so unique and charming. Even the water tasted wonderful! I'm thrilled that Au Lac is still thriving after all these years. If anything, the food tasted even better than I remembered. I certainly won't wait another 12 years before coming back. In fact, I was so impressed that I convinced my husband to come with me next Saturday for dinner! I've tried many vegan restaurants over the years, and Au Lac remains my absolute favorite. My favorite on the Westside is Variable Café, but if you're willing to drive a little farther, Au Lac is on another level. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. Whether you're vegan or not, this place is truly outstanding. Five stars without hesitation!

I came to Au Lac again to celebrate my bday with a friend before a show at the Music Center. Au Lac…read moredoesn't take reservations. My friend had the tofu, house salad. She said the house salad was better the last time she came bc the lettuce was different. She recalled it was Romaine lettuce last time. This time it was a green salad. I had the lemongrass fish which was made of soybean. It was a little too dry and rubbery for me. I kept putting it in my soup with rice to make it taste better, but ran out of soup. I won't be ordering this dish again. I took half home, cut up the soybean fish and added it to a stew. I didn't mention to my server that it was my bday, but was disappointed that he didn't even offer like regular servers do, "Would you like to see the dessert menu?" I didn't tell him it was my bday nor did I ask for the dessert menu bc I wasn't the one paying the bill. Not that I needed dessert, but it would've been nice to have been asked. When I mentioned this to another server who came by to clear our table that our server didn't even ask if we wanted dessert and that the restaurant doesn't seem to want to push its desserts, he quickly brought us a dessert menu, but my friend was already paying our bill - too late! It would've been nice to be asked earlier. I even had candles in my bag just in case we got dessert. Anyway, this server said he'll tell our server about not offering dessert. The next day I came back with another friend after a Music Center event. My server from the day before recognized me. This time he asked us at the start before we ordered or after we had just ordered whether we'd like to see the dessert menu. Huh? Ask at the END not start of a meal! Instead of embarrassing him, I told him, "No, thanks. My bday was yesterday." On this second day, my friend and I shared a Chinoise salad (delicious and refreshing!) and paella (not like a paella, a little too wet and granular for our taste, but healthy - a living food dish). We had mint and lemon water for both meals. $12 parking in the adjacent structure. Free parking passes at the Music Center if you're a season ticket holder or good luck with finding street parking. I'd still continue to occasionally patronize this restaurant when I have Music Center events bc I want to support veganism, the restaurant; however, I was disappointed with some of the food and waitstaff this weekend. I'd suggest that the waitstaff go thru customer training on when/what/how to talk to customers. Incentive from the website: join the rewards plan - 300 points for 30% off the bill and 100 points for a free dessert! I'm aiming for the free dessert!!

NOW FLASH BACK TO HERE. i to echo park only seeking dessert and my friend SHOVED ME over to this tiny cute little establishment. little did i know my upcoming flavor explosion. the sticky rice was WARM, coconutty, sweet and absolutely melted in your mouth while still holding firm, not necessarily mushy. i almost shed a tear. it was STEAMING. and the condensed milk drizzled on top went above and beyond... it was definitely coconut that added just another level of tropical warmth ugh. and those MANGOS??? GIRL ITS APRIL, NOT SUMMER??? yet they were the sweetest, softest, most decadent mangos on planet earth. with that bit of mint, every bite had me in ecstasy... and a food coma. THIS is mango sticky rice. and i WILL be back. also, tell me why i just sat down next to Ian from Smosh. that man's been loving thai food since youtube's inception... and obviously he has impeccable taste *fangirls*

Came here for a quick bite before a walk around the lake with a friend I haven't seen in a couple years. I loved our server and overall experience here I appreciated. In terms of food, the panang curry was more watery than I had expected. It had a lot of nice vegetables and a big serving of rice on the side. I thought the flavors were there but it could have definitely been turned up a little more, but wasn't bad for something quick. My friend got the satay and this was more my style. I love a good char and meat on a stick and this satisfied my craving.

To share, we had the following dishes: -Tom Yum Shrimp Soup: Spicy and sour in a good way. The shrimps were also juicy. -Papaya Salad: Crisp and fresh. -Pad Thai w/ Chicken: Solid and not too sweet. The noodles were cooked well. -Roasted Duck Over Rice: Good, but nothing mind-blowing. I would've loved more of a roasted feel and flavor. -Pad Prik King: A good amount of meat and flavor was good. -Sauteed Morning Glory: Honestly my favorite dish here. I loved the crisp veggies and flavor. -Beef Jerky: Surprisingly not bad. An elevated beef jerky. Everything was solid, but I've had better versions of each dish elsewhere. Nothing stands out, but this is a good standard for Thai food. The service here was really good and attentive. I appreciate the servers taking on all the requests hurled at them from the people in my group. They also helped with a water spillage. Parking can be tough since the area is popular. It's valet parking only in the lot in front of the restaurant, but you can also find some free spots around the area if you don't mind walking.
