    Tuna crispy rice

The food was AMAZING, location was a little iffy, valet was full (on a Thursday at 8 pm), so we made do with street parking. The inside was gorgeous. You would NEVER suspect something like that was inside. The hostess was so cute! Our server wasn't friendly, but there was a second gal who was much friendlier. The tower was delicious! The croquettes were a fave as well. Branzino was pretty good, but the rice on the side was uncooked. Overall, 4/5. I'd give it another shot, though.

Loreto has been on my list to check out for a while and I finally had the chance to visit! I made a reservation online which I highly recommend since it was pretty busy when we went. When we arrived, we checked in at the host stand and were then shown to our table. The restaurant has an indoor/outdoor vibe with the bar located inside. We started off with the oysters and the hand roll and both were good! We also had the aguachile negro and it was delicious! For the tostadas, my favorite was the CDMX. It was creamy and I loved the unique touch from the capers. If you love seafood, definitely worth checking out!

Tucked away in a random location but the space itself is absolutely stunning. Great aesthetics, large capacity and plenty of tables--honestly, a perfect layout for a company team dinner or group gathering. The initial impression before the food arrived was 10/10. The Service It was okay. There were awkwardly long gaps and delays between courses, which disrupted the flow of the meal. Seafood: It looks like they dry-age their seafood. The Taste: The sauces themselves were solid. However, if you're not a fan of that distinct, sharp/pungent tang that sometimes comes with aged seafood, it might miss the mark for you. Personally, that specific note was a bit of a letdown. Visually beautiful with a lot of potential for group events, but the execution on service timing and the specific seafood profile left me a bit disappointed. 3.5/5.

What a vibe! I came here on a whim for July 4th because my friend and I were looking for somewhere to dine to use her Chase Sapphire Reserve Credits that had food we both liked. We settled on this because it had both seafood and pasta. A bit of a strange combination especially because most of the menu is elevated Mexican/seafood. They only have 3 pasta dishes and the seafood is definitely better, but I'm not mad at the option. I'm glad we chose the patio seating because although the inside is gorgeous, the back patio achieves a level of chill that many LA patios try to do and fail. The main thing was that the tables didn't feel too crowded and there was still so much empty space that you felt as if you were in someone's backyard. Perhaps it wasn't too busy because of July 4th. The seafood here is def the standout. The highland tostada was my fave- delicious, with fresh avocado, crunchy tostada, and succulent crab. The Atun picante, or spicy tuna crispy rice, was ruined by whatever sour sauce they put on it. Texture of the crispy rice was perfect but we both agreed the sauce was too much. Tortellini came out more al dente than we were used to, but piping hot filling, and was pretty tasty. The LA churros with yuzu sauce we could have done without- hot and fresh but dry and thin. The Carajillo dessert was the savior- nutty, rich, and decadent without being too sweet. Drinks were decently strong alcohol wise but we thought they could have used a bit more flavor. Overall I think this is a great place to come for the patio but was pleasantly surprised the food was also good. Will be back for drinks, more seafood, and dessert!

This was a great Mexican seafood restaurant in frogtown. All the items we had were amazing. My favorite was the aguachile rojo, ceviche papaya and branzino zarandeado. All the aguachiles were very good and lots of flavor with the shrimp and condiments though I felt the aguachiles Verde was a little flat. The ceviches were also great especially the papaya. The cdmx blue fin tuna tostada was great. The empanadas de camaron and the croquetas were fried well and tender on the inside with good sauces and condiments. The mejillones Tom kha mussels were also great especially the soup. The tortelli was very soft and tender with the lobster and the branzino zarandeado was amazing with the fried soft tender white fish with copious amounts blue corn tortillas. The drinks were very good and unique as I got the todo santos milk punch that had passion fruit and butterfly pea tea which was awesome. The staff was very attentive and gave great service overall. The atmosphere is very lively and open space. it just feels like a fancy cocktail place but it also feels like a lively family dinner kind of vibe.

This is an upscale Mexican restaurant in Frogtown, Los Angeles. I made a same day reservation on Open Table. Parking was free on the street but hard to find during dinner. They had $15 valet parking. The ground has small rocks, so keep this in mind before you decide to wear heels. The restaurant is dimly lit inside. There is a host at the podium. The bar counter is first come first serve. The greenery inside almost covers the place from looking like an empty warehouse. The outdoor seating is fine during sunset but otherwise gets really dark when the sun goes down. There are no views except your eating party. The menu was not impressive to me. It seemed like a place to share appetizers with a group. The price tag was also too high in my opinion. I only got the empanada and seafood tower. Seafood tower $95 - It looks underwhelming because they use a small tower. On the top shelf, the twelve oysters they shucked were quarter sized. I actually prefer small oysters though. I asked for hot sauce, and the hot sauce was the best thing I had all night. It was so spicy and flavorful. I added it to everything. The bottom shelf had the ceviche and aguachile. They brought a plate of 4 toastadas and a packet of saltine crackers. Shrimp empanada $19 - Hah, this was not worth $19. The empanada was chewy like churro. The shrimp was tender. The flavor was lacking. I added hella hot sauce. Gratuity of 20% is auto added to parties of 6 or more Credit card fee of 3% Bathroom available in two gender-neutral stalls. I can't see myself coming back.

This location is so big and very modern and vibey. We sat at the bar top, but walked to look at the outdoor seating which would be perfect for a nice day or evening where the temp is warm. The food was good, I'd say there were lots of options for the dietary restrictions we had. I would say maybe missing a little flavor here and there. My favorite dish was for sure the ceviche and the cdmx tostada. Lots of flavor on those two dishes. The service was great. The real standout was the servers. They were so helpful and friendly and really were super attentive. The servers were 10/10. Last thing I'll mention is that there was a 3% charge for paying with a card which was weird, so just want to flag! Overall I'd give this place a 3.5 if I could. The location is fun and vibes are good, servers are so great.

Tucked away in a residential neighborhood in Frogtown is a hidden seafood gem that teleports you to Mexico. Combining the tastes of Baja California and Mexico City in fusion with Japanese flavors, you'll find Loreto. The aesthetic of the interior is industrial meets the desert. My party of four came for a birthday dinner and shared the following: * todo la Bahia (tower): seafood tower with a dozen oysters, a variety of ceviche and aguachilies served with tostada. Great to share to sample items. Rating - 9.5/10 * Japanese Wagyu aguachiles: if there's one appetizer you should order off the menu it's this. Flavorful, melts in your mouth. Rating - 9.75/10 * Bang Bang! Tostada - crowd favorite amongst the guys on our table. Was enjoyable , but a bit too saucy for my liking. Rating - 7.8/10 * atun picante - their version of a spicy tuna crispy rice. It was good. Would I order it again? Maybe. Would probably want to explore more of the menu prior. Rating - 8.25/10 * Branzino: the start of the show. Perfectly deboned and marinated. Served with rice and beans, quesadillas, fresh tortillas, a variety of salsas, avocado, and lime. Definitely a great item to share. Rating - 10/10 * Carrots: we wanted to order a vegetable to share. The carrots had a Smokey flavor and complimented the labneh it was layered on. Rating: 8.5/10 Parking: there's $15 flat valet and minimal street parking. Service: 10/10. Waiter was attentive and provided excellent recommendations. Also changed our plates frequently and made sure the table was clean. PS. The Micheladas are a must for drinkers.

When you can choose to go anywhere in LA for a dining experience, consider Loreto as one of your culinary stops. This is a seafood lovers dream, especially for those who love a bit of spice, creativity, and some south of the border flare. The ambiance is welcoming with touches of greenery, succulents, and cacti beautifully situated throughout the inside and outside dining areas. The patio is stunning, snag a table here if able. The service is friendly from the bar to tableside, with everyone pitching in to make your service and experience exceptional. You can sense a feeling of pride in the food that is being presented as it arrives to your table. Nothing was rushed, just how we like it. Our mezcal margaritas were delicious. You are able to customize it to your likings with additional flavors for no extra charge. You know we all like SWAG! Our server Alexa was an angel in human form. From the moment she greeted us, we knew we were in for an amazing experience. Thank you Alexa for giving us time to visit with one another and for delivering service with such a friendly and kind presence. Blah Blah Blah.... let's get to the meat and potatoes of this review or should I say, the ceviche and pulpo... For starters: Seafood Tower, also known as the Toda la Bahía. Pretty much a sampler of the most enticing raw seafood on the left side of the menu. Do not miss this. It was beautiful to admire and delicious to devour. We could have been completely satisfied with this and just enjoyed sipping our wine and laughing the night away. But NOOOOO... so here goes. Next up: Atún Picante: raw tuna served on top of crispy epazote rice, with just the right amount of spice from the salsa negra. Delicious. Get this. Pasta Agnolotti: Delicious tortellini-ish pasta filled with squash and lobster, topped with pepitas and salsa macha. Under the heading of Zarandeados (I had no idea it came with rice, black beans, salsas, tortillas, and quesadillas) we opted for the Pulpo. This is a whole octopus (without the head, mind you), grilled and served with accompanying salsas and all the sides. We were full but did our best to carry on. This was a beautifully presented dish but would opt for the Branzino next time. The pulpo was just a bit chewy and perhaps could have been charred a bit more. But who am I? Not a chef, but an Elite Yelper of 14 years who has had a fair share of pulpo. We were served a slice of the strawberry meringue dessert, apologies as I don't recall the proper name for this. It was fantastic. Light and refreshing. Having the Red Dining Book is a fun way to explore restaurants that you haven't tried before. I'm not sure that I would have known about Loreto if it weren't for this book. So grateful. This experience was so special and I will certainly come back with family. Thank you for this amazing memory and culinary delight. To my friends that treated me to my birthday dinner. I LOVE YOU.

Loreto is one of the most phenomenal restaurants I've been to in a WHILE. The ambiance is truly unmatched - I felt transported to luxury vacation upon entering. The servers were attentive, and the bartenders were friendly. And the FOOD. The food was extraordinary. You could throw a dart at this menu and land on something you'd love. I don't tend to repeat restaurants because I always like trying new things but I already made another reservation for next week.

Loreto has been my go to restaurant for date night, girls night, and birthday celebrations. The ambiance is amazing and the food incredible. In my recent visit I somehow lost my wedding ring while dining. I reached out to the staff the following day when I realized I had lost it and they did their best to help locate it. They later reached out with good news that they found it! Huge thank you to the staff for helping me find someone so special to me.

My family celebrated my birthday here on Friday night. This Mexican fushion restaurant stands among residential area, making it quite unique. The ambience has an upscale vibe and we would have loved to sit downside if it wasn't so hot in Cali. The menu was in Spanish which made it a bit difficult to read. (That's why Yelp is so important). The oysters were fresh and the yellowtail ceviche was quite delightful and refreshing. The blue fin tuna tostada was tasty especially paired with the super crunchy tostada. For main course we orfered the Branzino, which wass cripsy and flavorful. We also ordered the lobster tortellini which I feel it was too pricey for such small portion. And last but not least, the grilled octopus. That was super huge but it was on the saltier side. The texture was soft to chew and very tender. It came with rice and black bean and avocado. One thing I would like to mention is service is a bit slow because they are super packed. Service wise, I would give it a 3.5 star. Would I come back ? Yes. For special occasions though because the price was quite hefty.

Parking was a bit rough since we had to find street parking and we luckily only had to circle around the neighborhood once to find parking. We didn't know they had a Dine LA menu, so it made it easy for me to select and try out various items between the two of us. There was seating outdoors and indoors, so we lucked out we got indoor seating by a section off area that had air conditioning slipping through the curtain cutting us off from the actual restaurant itself where only employees were allowed in. They had cold water available and two sauces as well as utensils and sharing plates outside. The wait was a bit since there was a lot of people coming in and out and I think the Dine LA menu made it a bit confusing or hectic for the workers to keep track of who needed what, especially when it came to the churros that came with that menu. My favorites were the fish tacos with the added green sauce we grabbed and the churros that were a light end to the meal. I had to water down my agua fresca cause there was a lot of juice at the bottom so it felt I got a refill for my drink as I diluted the mix. The tostado was good when we added the green sauce to it cause it needed that kick and something to balance the saltiness. My husband the Las Flautas Ahogadas and it was good too, but definitely needed that green sauce as well. Overall, would come back to try other items!

I felt a little bad because these are one of the spots that I would love to have a sit down meal at some point, but I really wanna try a specific time that they had - the marlin taco. This taco comes with cheese and an avocado on top along with some salsa. I have to say this taco is such a wonderful bite. I'm hoping to come back soon and hungry so I can totally have the full sit down experience at this place. These places need to be treasured and supported!

We also got a fish taco and a half dozen oysters. Overall the food was pretty good, i really enjoyed the fish taco. One thing that really threw me off though was the oysters were almost warm, not cold how you would expect them to be served. I only had a 2 before I noticed and had to toss the rest. Everyone who eats oysters knows they should be ice cold or served on top of ice. The ambiance outside wasn't the best, it was a super hot day and there's only outdoor seating. The house located right text door was having some hard work done as well and lots of dust was being blown directly into the area we were sitting. The service it self wasn't too bad, they had out food ready pretty fast but for the price we paid, the experience could have been better.

In 1985, California passed a law (Civil Code section 1748.1) that prohibited merchants from adding a surcharge (an extra fee) when customers pay by credit card instead of cash. That law does allow merchants to give customers discounts for paying by cash, check, or debit card, as long as that discount is offered to all customers.

The steak tartare was bright, acidic, perfectly balanced and it's paired with sweet potato chips.. I had to take a moment! SO. GEWD. The bacalhau fritters was another favorite of mine. Crisp outside, soft inside, salty in the best way. Ask for extra lemons to brighten it further and thank me later. The head on prawns were so well seasoned and beautifully cooked and the sauce? Divine. I would bathe in it. The french fries were perfect but the lemon parsley aioli they came with is the real main character and I will not hear otherwise. Aioli of my dreams. Literally. Caipirinha with port float and Rosa margarita were both giving. Bolo do caco and boquerones also ate. Service was a little cold to start but warmed up as the night went on, and they ended the meal by surprising us with bubbles for our anniversary which was the sweetest thing. Pricey but worth every single penny. Date night, anniversary, or some other special occasion, this is your spot.

A friend and I went to Barra Santos for dinner on a Wednesday night and grabbed seats at the bar…read more Our server was fantastic and gave us such great recommendations on the appetizers that we decided to skip the traditional main-course route and make an entire dinner out of small plates. Barra Santos is a small space, and it was packed when we were there. Sitting at the bar put us right in the middle of the action, and the close quarters gave the room a lively, cozy feel. They also have outdoor seating in front of the restaurant if you prefer a little more space. We started with Maria's Bacalhau Fritters, made with salt cod, potato, and caramelized onion. They came out crisp on the outside and tender inside with lemon on the side. We also tried one of the specials that night, the croquetes, which was a fun addition to the meal. The Summer Melon Salad was easily one of my favorites of the night. The sweetness of the melon was such a good complement to all of the savory dishes we were ordering. With hazelnuts, charred halloumi, and a basil-cilantro vinaigrette, it was refreshing without feeling like an afterthought. We also tried the Endive Salad with oranges, almonds, cheese, cilantro, and a sherry and smoked paprika vinaigrette. The Linguiça Spiced Meatballs had plenty of flavor, although the meatballs themselves were smaller than I expected when the dish arrived. The Sautéed Calamari Toast was another favorite. The squid tasted fresh, was cooked really well, and had a great texture. Between the chili oil sofrito and the charred bread underneath, the whole dish was packed with flavor. I really enjoyed trying Barra Santos this way because ordering several appetizers gave us a chance to experience a good portion of the menu. One thing worth keeping in mind is the portion size relative to the price. Most of the appetizers we ordered were around $20 or more, and the plates lean smaller, which can add up quickly when you're building an entire dinner out of them. I enjoyed what we ordered, but it's something I'd keep in mind when deciding how many dishes to get. Parking in the neighborhood can also take a little patience. I ended up finding a spot a couple of blocks away (definitely give yourself a few extra minutes rather than expecting to park right in front). I'd definitely be up for coming back and trying some of the mains next time. The Piri Piri Chicken already has my attention.

But there was so much to eat and it was all so flavorful. The ceviche classico is some of the best I've had in years. Lots of fish, tangy, incredible with the Peruvian corn and sweet potato fixins. The Peruvian food is still as good now as it was then. I ordered the Aquadito de Pollo which is a chicken soup with a distinct herbal flavor. There is plenty of tender chicken in the soup. It was a good start to my main which was Saltado de Pollo, my favorite. The dish was nicely prepared with a good ratio mix of chicken, onions, tomatoes, and French fries. It was not too salty at all. Rosty seems to make an exemplary Saltado de Pollo. The Chicha Morada was refreshing with the meal. I would return to Rosty if I am in the area again. Dining areas are comfortable with staff being friendly and efficient. The neighborhood looked gentrified with many other businesses in close proximity to explore. Street parking is usually available on the side streets if none is found in front of the restaurant.
