Nothing lonely about this place. Fantastic - I mean it - FANTASTIC martini. Fancy, fresh, and delicious seafood offerings. I didn't try the oysters this time, but they have a bunch of cool flavored oils to try with them. Perfect date spot for any lovers of seafood and fancy drinks.

Had been meaning to visit for a while and finally made time to the other night. Had a reservation, so we got in right away. As usual, had to start out with cocktails. The matcha-tini was decent, could have been a little more matcha forward but the coconut cream paired with it added a nice dynamic. The Caped Crusader, on the other hand, was interesting, much stronger and it was hard to pick out the different ingredient notes. Definitely wasn't our favorite Also has to grab a couple appetizers to get a well rounded idea of the food. The scallop crudo was nice and refreshing, cut thinly without a whole lot of "fluff" to distract from natural flavor of the scallop itself. Would I order it again though? Probably not. The surf & turf tartare was really good with the trout roe on top giving nice pops of salt. Just a nice bite. The seafood chowder was also good with a variety of shellfish meat inside. For entrees we got the lobster roll trio and the TLO Burger. The lobster roll trio came with three styles of lobster roll: an original, Louisiana style and a miso-brown butter. The original was just that, original, but the brown butter really stood it. The Louisiana had a little spice to it, which was also fun. The TLO Burger was also very good, using a short rib blend of meat, paired with caramelized onions, house made pickles and ample amounts of American cheese. Can never go wrong with ample cheese, unless you're lactose intolerant, then yes, you can go wrong. Overall, really good food, all items were very flavorful. The matcha-tini was interesting but I'd skip the Caped Crusader and try something else. If you're around Echo Park and looking for a good meal, definitely stop by the Lonely Oyster.

Months ago we learned there is a new chef and certain menu items would be discontinued. Even so, I was extremely disappointed to hear they took away their beloved beef tartare which is the best we've had in our lives. We always get multiple orders of it when we come here. We excitedly brought a foodie friend here and finished dinner embarrassed for the entire experience. The food for new menu items was a terrible value. $65 for a NY strip that couldn't have been more than 4-6oz. Mushroom risotto for $36 that was sparse and underwhelming in flavor and portion. The only redeeming item was their cocktail shrimp. Large and fresh with a great bite and price of $25 for 5 pieces felt proportionate. We left hungry despite ordering 6 items to share between 3 (2 are small eaters). Service was... serviceable? But super weird vibes and kept feeling like we were an obligation or nuisance being there. Parking is a nightmare if you come at regular dining hours. We once spent 45 mins looking for a spot and ended up a very far walk away. Best to ride share here. It's bad business when the chef/owner doesn't take care of existing customers and makes too great of an overhaul to the menu. What once felt like was a place that cared about its food and created recipes that made your tastebuds dance and begging for more, this now feels like a soulless, uncreative money grab. Everything we used to love about the Lonely Oyster is gone. I hope they make changes in the right direction. I will not be returning.

We had dinner more than a month ago, so I don't recall too many details. Service was adequate, and we enjoyed the food. The Seafood Chowder had a lot of different seafood, more appetizing than your typical clam chowder. Hubby had the Lonely Louie salad, very fresh. They certainly did not skimp on the ingredients. I tried the Lobster Roll Trio, each in a different style, a good way to sample Miso-Brown Butter, Maine & Louisiana. I couldn't pick a favorite. We ended the night with Atlantic Pie, which is similar to key lime pie. No complaint there. This is a good place for seafood. The patio is dog friendly. Street parking in the area can be difficult. On a Sunday evening, I didn't see valet parking.

Came here after it the restaurant popped up on my IG feed and knew I had to try it for myself. Reservations were easy to make online and when I arrived, the restaurant wasn't too busy so I was seated pretty quickly. The server provided me with recommendations for my first time and I had mainly small bites to savor a little bit of everything. Everything I tried was delicious, the drink although aesthetically pleasing, was just okay. I think it needed a little more vodka but that wouldn't deter me from coming back to try and entree or different appetizers. Great service all around!

Such a cute spot. My boyfriend brought me here for my bday dinner and the service was amazing. She also helped us select the tastiest oysters. They also gave us some caviar bumps on the house for my bday! We were able to curate a meal that was for our palettes. The outside seating was also super warm. When I'm back in town I will definitely put this on my list again!

Awesome little themed restaurant! Loved the decor and ambiance. The server was amazing and great suggestions that didn't disappoint! Would highly recommend. We feasted on Oysters, Shrimp cocktails and we had the Trio Lobster Rolls! The turmeric Margarita comes highly recommended!

Are here for the first time on 8/20/25. Wow! What a yummy little spot! Super fresh oysters, a variety to choose from and a simple menu. Seafood chowder was great! Oysters were amazing!! Loved our server. She was knowledgeable and helped quite a bit with choosing our oysters. Quaint little spot with some outdoor seating. Would go again!

One of my favorites. Menu changes often but I have loved everything I've tried. The seafood chowder is bomb, the lobster trio, shrimp cocktail, steak dishes never disappoint. We love Lila! We have her as a server often!!

I ordered the Uni Cavi Hashy for lunch besides the Lunker Roll. The uni Cavi Hashy is a savory dish, that we shared but I could have definitely eaten the whole thing myself. It has crispy buttered hashbrowns, wild uni, osetra caviar, smoked trout roe, and runny egg when you cut it open. I love ordering different dishes every time I come. Parking- street parking

A lonely date by myself at the beautiful lonely oyster. Nestled in echo park this place will always be my favorite oyster house in all of LA. Best thing is quality and price of their oysters. And for a lonely bar girl myself i appreciate the bar snack options of the bar menu. A oyster trio is a perfect size when you don't trust yourself in eating 12 oysters and at a very reasonable price. However, i did fall in love sitting at the bar top maybe with the sweet and cool bartender (i think her name is Lindsay) but also with the lobster roll trio! Get tf out of here!!!!!!! The classic and New Orleans inspired lobster rolls so soft buttery and yet decadent to my tastebuds I am ever so looking forward to coming here again

Pisco in a pear tree martini - very sweet

I first discovered this place on a TV show, so I saved it. A friend generously gifted me a gift card. My daughter and I finally made the hour-long drive. The restaurant is located on a busy side street off Sunset Blvd, with minimal street parking. We ended up parking in the shopping center across the street. The restaurant features an outdoor covered patio, which is right on the sidewalk curb. Inside, the space is small, dark, and intimate. Midway through our meal, the lights were dimmed further, which made reading the menu and seeing our food a bit challenging. We had a 5pm reservation, arrived on time, and were seated quickly. However, it seemed like service would be a bit slow since there was only one server managing both the indoor and outdoor sections. As the evening went on and the place filled up, the service slowed down. We had to flag down the server a few times, but they were always friendly. Here's what we ordered: -Pisco in a Pear Tree Martini - A nice pear flavor, but too sweet. -Caviar Bump - The texture was mushy and not worth the price. -Uni-Cavi Wonton - I didn't try it, but my daughter thought it was just okay. -Calamari - something tasted off...maybe the oil? -Seafood Chowder - This was delicious! I wanted to order a bowl to go, but the service was so slow that I didn't want to wait. -Grilled Octopus - Cooked well, but I've had better. -Wagyu Steak Frites - Cooked medium rare, it was just okay. Fries were delicious! -Bread Pudding (to go) - Again, just okay. We'll definitely stop by again for their clam chowder and perhaps try something else.

We decided to get a drink to celebrate Father's Day, only to strike out at the first two bars we tried--I guess a lot of places are closed at 9:30 on a Sunday. This is how we ended up at Thunderbolt, a buzzy bar in Echo Park, just far enough away that we'd never made our way over. I loved it immediately. Thunderbolt has the friendly, comfortable atmosphere of a neighborhood bar and the hip aesthetic and high-level cocktails of a millennial boozer destination. (Not that young people can't or shouldn't hang out here, but it seems especially geared toward people like us, who drank at Walker Inn a decade ago.) We ended up sitting next to a guy who regularly drives up from Palos Verdes. I guess the place gets pretty busy, but it was ideal on a Sunday night. Happening but not crowded, with just enough space at the bar for us to grab two seats together. The bartender was great, super helpful and welcoming. He also made excellent drinks. Thunderbolt is one of those bars with an encyclopedic illustrated book for a menu. Not a long menu, just a detailed one, with a lot of information available about each drink. We got a Liquid Picnic and a Barcelonnette--just one round to close out the weekend. Both were delicious. The Liquid Picnic was a smooth, savory gin martini made with London dry gin, tomato, citron, vermouth, rosemary, and black pepper. I learned from the book that it used clarified tomato water. (There was also further reading about the clarification process.) The Barcelonnette was a mezcal sour with Suze, passionfruit, and lime, the foam made without egg white through some geeky mixologist process. Thunderbolt is not our neighborhood bar, but we plan to go back when we can to check out the rest of the menu. It's a wonderful place, well worth a jaunt on the freeway.

We went on an early Thursday evening, so it was pretty dead, which honestly I liked. But on the weekends it turns into a piano bar, so if you want the full experience that's probably when you should come. My partner wanted to check this place out, and I had absolutely no idea what I was walking into. I used to live in Savannah, Georgia, and walking in immediately reminded me of bars back there. I've missed places like this. I didn't even bother looking at the menu. I asked one question: "Do you have fried pickles?" "And are they spears?" Check. And check. Instantly passed my very low bar test for a place like this, and they tasted exactly how I wanted them to. Both bartenders were great too. Easy to shoot the shit with. Although I will say... I kind of wished there were just a couple old guys sitting in the corner quietly brooding over their drinks. They also have pickled eggs, which I honestly can't remember seeing at another bar in LA. And if pickled pig's feet are your thing... they've got those too. They've never been my thing. The only thing that really pulled me out of the atmosphere was the giant ring light by the bathroom. I guess you have to keep the younger crowd entertained these days if a live piano player isn't enough. There's also the market next door, which is owned by the same people and looks like it's full of good stuff, but it was closed when we visited. I'm assuming it's open on the weekends too, which is another reason I'd recommend coming, if you want the full experience. One last thing... don't be a dick and order a Ramos Gin Fizz when the place is slammed. We only ordered one because it was completely dead.
