Before the moving day, I agreed to the initial job of three hours at their regular hourly rate. We packed up our entire apartment and moved all non-essential items to our new apartment in Orem before the movers arrived so that they would only have to move the large objects when they came. However, the three employees they sent were unprofessional. They seemed to take their time removing our bed and couch more than necessary. After several brief discussions with the "supervisor" in the group, I couldn't resolve the situation. After packing at our old apartment for nearly three hours, they asked us to meet them at our new place. We drove from Draper to Orem only to find ourselves waiting for over an hour while they were on the way. There was no contact from them during this one-hour-plus wait, even though I was being charged an hourly rate, even over the initial three hours. When they arrived at our new apartment, they tried to bring our couch up a small stairwell instead of using the correct freight elevator entrance. It was too big to exit the stairwell on our floor, so they left it at the top. Our couch was blocking the exit via the stairwell, and they refused to move it back downstairs and try a larger stairwell on the other side of the building. In addition, they damaged the stairwell door, knocked out a ceiling tile, and nearly destroyed an exit sign hanging from the ceiling. After going back and forth over what to do with the couch, I finally told them to move all the rest of our stuff into the new apartment, and my partner and I would figure out how to get the couch out of the stairwell ourselves. Remember, we're now on hour five of a three-hour job, and the rate is over $250/hr. Then, they took a "break" at their truck following the couch incident. Thirty to forty-five minutes later, they began to bring our other furniture up. As they dropped each item off, we noticed that our bed, a very nice wooden platform bed that was extremely expensive, was damaged. We asked them about it, and they said, "Sorry." The company had promised to unpack and assemble our furniture in the new apartment as part of their service. However, once they got everything into the new apartment, we were already over seven hours into a three-hour job. What was supposed to be a sub-$1,000 move turned into a nearly $1,800 move. Moving is expensive, and we don't have a lot of extra cash lying around. When I politely asked the "supervisor" to call his manager and see if we could get a discount on our services because of all the issues, the employee called his manager while I was present, but the person he spoke to wouldn't budge. The employee was not completely honest with his manager about all that happened during the move, so I pressed him again to call back and tell him we were upset over these things. Still, nothing. He offered me $200 off, but that was laughable. After all this, we had an eight-hour move that was supposed to take three hours, our stuff was damaged, nothing was put back together, we still had to deal with the couch, and the manager was unwilling to help. DO NOT use this moving company... the manager told me that her workers are "teenagers just trying to make a little money," and that she "stands by them all day." That's not the professional, premium experience they lead to you to believe they provide.

Many of the companies seem to contract out services- but with Moving Connections they have their own people so you can trust that what they say is what they will do. Our moving team Joshua and Cody worked so efficiently to load us up and make certain everything was packed safely and securely, and then drove it all to Portland and carefully unloaded it at our new house. A third member, Josh, worked in Salt Lake to pack our art collection perfectly- and everything arrived at the destination with no damage at all. There were a lot of elements to our move that needed extra coordinating, and Joshua and Cody not only managed it all extremely well, but they were so pleasant and kind throughout that it really helped us through what would otherwise have been a much more stressful process. They did a walkthrough at the end to make certain nothing was left undone, and even helped with a few extras that insured unpacking would go much more smoothly for us. Respectfully and realistically, had I been informed that our 100-year-old family heirloom would be completely dismantled and left in hundreds of pieces with no photos, labeling, or guidance for reassembly, I would have chosen to move the piece myself or made different arrangements entirely. That option was never presented to me. One mover spent approximately two to three hours dismantling this single item. During that time, I was upstairs where the bulk of the household packing was taking place, I was supervising or answering questions, as I reasonably assumed the work being done downstairs aligned with the agreed scope of the move. There was only one room downstairs, Tv stand, a desk and most of the other items there were already stacked or boxed. As a result, one person spent a disproportionate amount of time on a single item while the majority of the home was being packed elsewhere. What is most troubling is not a disagreement over policy of the dismantling, but the absence of empathy and accountability in your response. This situation did not need to happen this way, and being told that correcting it requires additional payment only deepens the disappointment. I feel unheard and disrespected.

We used them to move our home from Utah to California in August and a large number of our items were lost, destroyed or misplaced and we received...$49 in compensation. Several of their contractors were rude, dismissive and disrespectful towards my mother and her needs and they didn't give a single shit when they put things in the wrong places. Our items arrived 2 weeks later than we were told they would and we were forced to sleep on the floor during that period of time while we waited for them to finish up with another order that we were repeatedly told took priority over us. I would rate this lower if I could and I will be extremely vocal about telling everyone I know to avoid this company for the rest of my life. The only "miracle" these buffoons pulled off was actually getting our items to us at all. How they ever managed to be crowned the 2024 best in state is fucking laughable.
