We showed up as a family of 21 without reservations and were seated immediately -- a big win in our book! We were staying at Liberty Mountain Resort, so the location was incredibly convenient. The ambiance is classic modern American, with beautiful views of the golf course and a gorgeous patio complete with a large fire pit -- perfect for relaxing. Service was friendly and helpful, though there were a few hiccups with our bill since we requested separate checks for such a large group. The food was just okay -- nothing fancy, just straightforward American classics. We sampled the chicken wings, elote nachos, brownie sundae, and strawberry shortcake. Drink selection was great. All were fine, but nothing really stood out. Overall, a pleasant spot with great convenience and atmosphere -- worth a visit if you're in the area, especially for the setting. read more

Before our group went snow tubing, we stopped here to get some good food. The menu had lots of great options but I settled on chicken pesto pasta. It was good and the portion size was very generous. My only complaint is that it needed a bit more seasoning but salt helped out. The hot cider was delicious too and give me a bit of the buzz from the Jameson. The server was very nice and the food came out relatively quickly. Overall, it was a great pick and I can't wait to come back if I plan on tubing again next winter. read more

We booked a large group (19) people on Monday. They were happy to accommodate. When we arrived Tuesday evening there was a 2nd large group. As the ordering progressed, we were informed that there was no soda machine, they could not make any bread (oven was broke) there was no draft beer (CO system was down), etc. etc. Not sure why they were even open. This location is within the lodge and offers great views of the adjacent golf course on the same property. Parking is abundant, and there is ample seating available inside and outside. The service is amazing! From a warm greeting when you enter to outstanding service during your dining experience. I've had two meals here (breakfast and dinner) both were above and beyond. For dinner my party had: Cobb salad with salmon, fish and chips as well as the hamburger. All were good and devoured. The Breakfast Buffet the following day was superb. Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy plus more! I recommend adding this place to your list of go-to's! read more

Went to this restaurant tonight for a celebratory dinner. We made reservations last week. Upon our arrival after ordering drink we were told thy could not serve fountain drinks or beer on tap due to issues with their CO2. We were also informed their oven was broken. During our dinner they started to have song bingo. This interrupted our ability to have conversation with our group due to the level of volume in the room. We had a group of 17+. In regard to other issues, restrooms were uncleaned and smelled, the restaurant had lights that were flickering. However the food was amazing. It had great taste and was fresh. Currently sitting in your restaurant. Came here for a special meal, and upon our arrival told the oven was broken, the soda machine was broken, the draft beer was broken. This is a review for Eagle & Owl restaurant.  We came on Thanksgiving because all the other restaurants were booked.  There were only 3 other tables when we got here (3:30pm).  The facility is very nice, new looking.  Appears to be lots of parking.  I had the turkey with stuffing, turkey was very tender, stuffing was good.  My mom had the chicken with mashed potatoes ans green beans.  Everything was good but the chiken was VERY bland, like wow.  Service was friendly.  They have a pool table, Foosball and shuffleboard table in the restaurant.  Great views!  Verry romantic and cozy lobby.  I will return ans check out their brunch.  They have good happy hour deals, $2 Yuengling beers on Mondays, $1 tacis on Tuesdays,  etc. The house Chardonnay was excellent, highly recommend. read more

We pretty much had the restaurant to ourselves bc apparently they are not very busy in the summer. It's a nice place and the chicken tasted very fresh but since it's the only restaurant open at the resort in the summer, prices are high. On our last night there we tried ordering pizza and was told their pizza oven was down. read more

We went here for the hotels complimentary breakfast which is included in hotel price, and for dinner. For breakfast - I would give it 2 or 3 stars as it's a mess in the morning they probably need a better system, but this review is for dinner. We had an early dinner around 6:30pm. I ordered crab soup, Caesar salad with salmon as my entree and raspberry iced tea. My husband ordered calamari to start, the beef short ribs as his entree and a beer. Our server was very pleasant and efficient. The food came out quite quickly and it was pretty good! Tbh, it's a bit pricey, but everything in the hotel is a bit pricey. lol read more

On March 14, 2024, I decided to take myself out to a "nice" lunch at Eagle and Owl, a local restaurant where my husband and I used to frequently eat. I am a widow now and thought I would enjoy some nice memories, etc. as that sad anniversary was near. Unfortunately, the service was not good, but historically women dining alone find this to be a not uncommon phenomenon. There were no other customers, every table was empty. I seemed to be beneath the notice of the waitress, who approached with a barely disguised insult, "oh, just you?" Yes, JUST me. A bad start, followed by her obvious disdain/disinterest as I requested a table by the window, then she ignored me completely. Finally the bartender assumed her role--took the order, brought the food, he was pleasant enough but the waitress quite pointedly kept her back turned to me. I finally just went to the bar to get the check and pay it, since it wasn't materializing at my table. I wrote at the bottom, "I am not invisible." And I deeply resent being treated that way. The food was nice but could have been a bit hotter. I had a high end entree (Chicken Oscar), glass of wine and dessert, but my much anticipated experience had been completely diminished by then. I tipped 20% because historically, women are known to not be "good" tippers, and we can't have that or else we won't b e welcome or get good service, right? Perhaps lone women diners are unwelcome or if the waitress was having a bad day at my expense. Perhaps elderly/senior women are unwelcome. read more

3.5 stars for both lunch and the breakfast buffet. Lunch. The service is good, offered to follow us wherever we decided to sit and checking with the chef to cook the vegetables for the wrap. It's a pleasant restaurant with nice sun exposure, lots of widows with an automatic blind system, and a big bar area at one end of room. The wrap is very good with a nice smoke flavor and an actual grilled pancake, the sweet potato fries with a bit of brown sugar are very good though a tad oily, and the chili is very good and mildly spiced even with the halepenos which they ask if you want. They reheated stuff we left sitting with no hesitation. It's a bit expensive here but it's a resort. Breakfast buffet. The service is good. Coffee, juices, fruits at room temperature, breads, eggs, pancakes, mini burritos (very good), bacon, link sausage, and other things are included. Was not impressed in the least bit. They waitresses were very nice, but man, the food was not to my liking. I was here with a group of people and we ate here a couple times. Both times we ate here the food was just sub par. Multiple people had complaints of their food being cold or undercooked and the food just was not impressive. The only time I didn't hear somebody complain about the food was when they had a salad or the chicken. Everything else that was ordered on the menu I heard complaints about it. Food is always consistent and delicious. If you dine for lunch the views of golf course and fire pit are beautiful. We were recently there for lunch with friends and had a nice relaxing time. The brand new Eagle and the Owl opened up at the brand new Ski Liberty Resort Hotel (conference center, weddings, golf, and mini mountain fun). It replaces another hotel conference center that was separately owned until about 5 years ago. That old facility was knocked down and replaced with this new, fancy building and now includes the Eagle and The Owl. (whew!) It is directly behind the "ski lodge" with clock tower that is located slope side. This place is in sharp contrast to that 80's era building, with it's standard ski cafeteria, and all the things that go with a ski resort. It is like night and day, which may or may not be a good thing. (I knew this might not be for me when my friend said he got a tour early in the AM with the "executive chef"--I would rather have a great cook than an "executive chef" The breakfast buffet was good. $12. -- there were eggs, sausage, bacon, home-fried potatoes, a mushy french toast mash, biscuits and gravy, as well as fruit, cereal, granola, OJ, etc. The bacon and sausage taste home cured. It was pretty great, and if you compare it to the food across the way at the main lodge, it is down right amazing--not that the food over there is bad but its like comparing Denny's to a fine restaurant. I had the "Eagle and the Owl" salad for lunch and as the kids say "(your) it was doin' too much". It had the fancy restaurant weeds in there, and the "hand made" dressing was almost absent and I had to order a side of dressing--and I only put about 1/2 the dressing on my salad as your average diner. The whole thing suffered from being too fussy. Certainly, it was OK, but not a winter, by the side of the mountain salad. They charred the chicken which kind of dried it out. My friends salad was entirely weeds. (Poached Pear salad). I would have just sent that back--the "red asian mustard greens" are weeds. I tasted them. That is crap you cut off the top of other veggies before you cook it. They don't feel good in your mouth, don't taste good, and when they get added to a regular salad, 95% of everyone pick them out. There was no actual lettuce in the thing. They are there to look good, as if that were the point of food. I am sure the foodies are rolling their eyes as they smell the bouquet of their wine. I saw burgers going by that looked fancy but somewhat normal. The menu itself seems like it is more about selection of ingredients than actually making something that is great: turkey is "house" roasted, cheddar is aged, and sandwiches have arugula not lettuce. That will be $16 for your burger please. (get the red asian mustard weeds off that first burger on the menu, and you might have something!) The Eagle And The Owl has taken Ski Liberty into the direction of Bethesda (my hometown) and that ain't a good thing. I am not sure the B'More crowd is gonna fancy paying $16 for a burger in nowhere PA, next to the mini-mountian. Living in the DMV, I have begun to distain the fru-fru, fancy food that has replaced places where you eat. I don't want a story about the carrot, I just want good carrots. And spare me the lecture on gluten--I don't have Celiac disease (and neither do you). They JUST got open this weekend, and so I will not offer any review on service. This weekend they have dozens of employees running around and giving their best effort, learning with their customers. Ski Liberty staff try harder than any ski resort I have ever been to--and I have been to dozens and dozens all over the country. I have no doubt that they will get it right. I would eat breakfast at Eagle And The Owl. I would have lunch/dinner at the end of Ski Liberty's driveway: Taverna 5450 which has a more regular person menu. read more

Captive audience restaurant. BLUF - if you get room rate with breakfast included, GO EARLY. If you go for dinner - you made a mistake. Epic pass discount does NOT apply, as it is "full service". Breakfast - good stuff at buffet runs out with about an hour to go, so if you want oatmeal or fruit, go early. The heat is turned on right before breakfast, so the room was freezing. Servers at breakfast only bring coffee and juice, and you may have to wait, or go get it yourself. Dinner - prices and portions are what you would expect being a captive audience. Sauteed chicken meal was unremarkable. Salad was all lettuce with a few bits of other stuff. Salmon good but small portion. Corking fee for a bottle of wine was $25!!! We saved it for after dinner and had water. Drink price also very expensive. The only good thing there is that they have a pool table and foosball table where kids can go and entertain themselves. Great if you have kids, but if you don't, it is noisy with kids playing games. Next time we go, will take own breakfast foods - as rooms have good size fridge, and for dinner will go off campus - Taverna is great. read more

We came to the Liberty resort on Easter Sunday hoping to get a spot in the brunch the resort was offering but it was all booked up, so we had an early lunch at the Eagle and the Owl. It was completely empty, probably because the majority of guests were at the Easter brunch. The bartender and server were both very accommodating and pleasant. My hubby had an IPA with a burger and I had a peach hard cider with a crab cake sandwich -- delicious! The cider featured locally grown peaches and the crab cake was moist and flavorful. Okay so -- I am not a local, and don't have much an idea as to what is around this particular area, but I do know that most of the cuisine I have had while visiting liberty mountain resort has been the equivalent to most of what Leo was eating in the Revenant. So how excited I was when they opened a new lodge at this tiny little ski resort! The place is well lit, open, and still gives you that ski lodge kind of feel. Also, lets be honest, there is nothing I like more than a few drinks after a day of hitting east coast slopes, or a few drinks while I am hitting them so I can trick myself into thinking they are better than they actually are... and this is a great alternative to McKee's Tavern. The bartenders were great, and attentive, and the bartender helping us actually knew how to make a drink, and made my group perfectly layered B52's. They also have an extensive selection of beer, all of which the bartender was very knowledgeable about. As far as The food we really only munched on apps. The charcuterie was huge, and I was happy to see it on the menu. We also split an Eagle and The Owl pizza I was afraid may be soggy with the large amount of toppings, but it wasn't. It was perfectly crisp, and very tasty. I did think that the menu was a little fussy (coming from the girl who ordered charcuterie haha), and that the menu was trying to upsell things with lengthy descriptions and the promise of high quality artisan ingredients. Not too impressed. Had an open faced burger that was mediocre and over priced. My wife had a Turkey Monte Christo that sounded great on the menu but what was served was very bland/boring. Service wasn't that good not even for just opening. Servers there need to learn to help each other out and if they see empty drinks at a table that are not theirs and are doing nothing, help! Wife had an issue with the pickle garnishment on her plate! Had somehow come in contact with some cleaning detergent and therefore tasted horrible! Anyway, the information was passed on to both the manager and one of the chefs in our sight and we got no apology for it from either. We had a great meal here. The oysters were crispy and the miso dipping sauce was a lovely match for it. The crab soup was very tasty with a hint of sherry and flavorful spices. Amazing beer selection! The veal sandwich was very tender. The ranch was homemade and you could tell. The salad was a beautiful winter delight. Besides the food and drink, the atmosphere was warm, cozy and fun. A shuffle board is ready for play and the decor reminds one of home with lots a wood accents. There are fireplaces ablaze at every turn and the view from this new building and magnificent. I highly recommend a stop here after a day on the slopes but even if you are not a skier or snowboarder, it's still worth a trip for the great food, drink and cheer. read more

My wife and I finished 9 holes of golf at Carroll Valley and decided afterwards to go to the Eagle & Owl for a glass of wine (hers) and cold draft for me. When we walked in there were just a few patrons at the bar with two servers behind the bar. We walked up to the counter to ask about options and the bartenders scattered. Are you kidding me? We stood there for 5 minutes watching these guys talk to other employees and themselves while they knew we were there to order something. We left. Maybe I have a high standard but if I were the GM and knew about this I would have fired folks on the spot. My recommendation is to forget the fancy Eagle & Owl and go to bottom of hill to Travera. Faster service and less expensive prices. read more

Yea it's a resort where you have a bit of a captured audience, but at $15.99 for muscles that smell like they're ever so close to turning.... no thanks Seriously, swap out the chef and team, bring someone in who really enjoys cooking and that place could be magic. Think about the average income of someone on the slopes... they have the disposable income and more importantly sophistication level to know a bad value and bad food.... nothing worse than having the food quality let you down because it reflects on the hotel too which is really quite nice and a great value. After a day of skiing at Ski Liberty with my young son I was ready for a nice dinner with great atmosphere so I was eager to check out Eagle and The Owl since the hotel recently opened. We were not staying at the hotel on this trip but I wanted to try the restaurant first before booking our first nights stay in the future. We were promptly greeted as we walked in by a host and hostess, very friendly and were nice to accommodate my request to sit by the window so we could view the outdoor firepit. Betsy, our server, was very nice and attentive. They had a nice beer selection on tap. I had the KOBE burger, it was amazing and just what I needed after skiing all day. Sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly. My son ordered the grilled cheese, as another reviewer commented, the grilled cheese is best left simple and familiar as kids like it. My son ate it just fine because I try to teach him not to be picky but I could see other kids being picky about it because of the grains in the bread and the cheese was white American. I appreciated the effort trying to give the kids something healthy and thought the sliced grapes were a nice added bonus! The menu promised smiley fries but I guess they were out so potato wedges were served, no biggie but my son was excited when he first thought he was getting smiley fries. Nice coloring page for the kids menu and crayons provided, this is always helpful with eating out with kids so I liked that the restaurant thought about the young ones too! The restaurant itself is truly stunning! Beautifully decorated and modern, just what Ski Liberty needed to compete! We were not there to watch sports or the new on TV but if you like that there were plenty of nice TV's around. I enjoyed the sweet company of my son and the beautiful view of the fire outside and the landscape. I will be bringing my entire family back in a few weeks and look forward to dining at Eagle and The Owl again. read more

The Good and the Bad... Excellent: Crab soup, Chili and kids menu Lodge Burger. Although, sweet potato fries were mushy and wet. Kids usually like regular fries. Crab Soup was loaded with crab and perfectly seasoned. Chili was thick, chunky and had a bit of heat. Needs improvement: Monte Cristo, Grilled Cheese, and Chicken Tenders. Monte Cristo was all wrong. Dry, to much turkey, not enough jam and needed more batter for french toast dip. Couldn't finish although I to order more jam in hopes to improve the overall taste. Another big disappointment was the Grilled Cheese. All wrong for children. No need for innovation when feeding hungry kids who have skied all day. Bread was to thick and had grains. Cheese should of been cheddar and doubled to balance the thick bread. Very bland. Wish I would have returned this one. Chicken Tenders were eaten with complaints. Batter was grainy and dark. The quality and flavor should be raised to match the pricing. read more
