We moved to Star from out of state two years ago. We had read about Uncle Guiseppe's and wanted to…read moretry it, but hadn't gotten around to it yet. Today, our friend brought us to Garden City to walk along the river, and then over to Uncle Guiseppe's for lunch. It is a small, seemingly authentic New York deli that serves a great number of different sandwiches, along with specialty drinks, like sodas, sparkling water, and lemonade. They also well things like pastries and, of interest to us, jarred roasted tomatoes. My wife had the #9 Monte Cristo, and I had the #3 Bonanza. Delicious. I also had a Manhattan Special Black Cherry soda, also super yummy. My mistake, not realizing what I was doing, was to order "whole" vs "half" sandwiches. The whole are footlong. I ate the entire sandwich, holy moly! My wife brought half home. Next time I would probably order a half. The owner, who I will call Guiseppe, had the heavy East Coast accent, and checked on all of his customers, making sure they were happy and satisfied. This place is a little gem. We're already talking about our next visit to Garden City to walk and have lunch at Uncle Guiseppe's!

I am used to a different type of roll being I'm from Philadelphia. It was just OK. Sandwich was very good. Otherwise if you're in town and you're looking for an Italian spot serving classic Italian sandwiches give this place to try.

I didn't check the reviews before heading in for lunch today. The brand has a good reputation, but…read morethis experience was a bit all over the place. There's so much to choose from, which is great, but it might be a bit much for first-time visitors. It was quiet today, and the staff was very nice and helpful. We both ordered the soup and sandwich combo. The seating is a bit cold and not the most comfortable place to relax, but it's okay. My first big "yuck" was the beverage area. It was filthy! There was sticky liquid all over the counter and the floor! The floor was disgusting, not only with sticky soda but also crumbs under every table. By the time I sat down, I was sure it was my last visit here. The buzzer went off, and I walked up to get our food only to be told it wasn't ready! (What?) Anyway, I got it, and it looked really good! I had some hot Italian sandwich and tomato soup. It was amazing! I also got a small piece of a baguette that was wonderful! My wife had broccoli and cheese soup and said it was wonderful as well. She also had a one off custom sandwich that she loved. I hope they take a bit more pride in their store and clean it up as we really did enjoy there food. So many new places coming to town this kind of experience can hurt. I hope the management reads these reviews!

Constipated. That's the word that kept popping into my head for this new Panera. Starting with…read morethe location for awkward access off of State Street to Edgewood before making an immediate right turn onto a narrow access way into the parking lot. The description also applies to the to tight and awkwardly built parking lot. And for Pete's sake, city planning review people, there is a Chik-Fil-A now under construction in this same place that will be using the same access way and parking lot. (And eventually fast casual pizza franchise, Slice House.) You must be kidding. No wonder this was such a controversial project as it was wending it's way through approval processes. But that's not Panera's fault so let's get to what seemed constipated, or at least not smooth moving, at the store. I detoured here on the way home from a morning haircut to pick up a cup of hot chocolate, I had been getting Panera emails in the way of "insider special" and also a pastry, both to go, as I had also received snail mailed discount coupons to my house. I live in this city and they have been trying to make locals aware of the new store. Although the inside was not crowded, after waiting a good while to try to place an order, I left because I had an appointment at home that I didn't want to be late for. The reason I couldn't place an order was that it was unclear to me if I was supposed to use one of 3 kiosks at the front or if I could order at the counter (my preference) and there was no way to ask the single person working the counter "how do I?" Also the sign at front said if you are having a beverage to get your cup first. OK then, where? Also, the item in the case I thought I wanted to order had no label on it so I wasn't sure, if I used the kiosk, what it was I was ordering, and no one to ask about that either. So I decided to do this the old fashioned way and wait to order the counter. But I could not do that because there was only one person working at the counter and she was behind the register trying her best to help the customer who also wanted to order and who was asking questions. This poor (obviously new) employee was out of her depth for what to do. Not her fault, where was the manager to help her? But just as the employee had a "eureka" moment on how to get the order placed, the customer presented her discount coupon that she received via snail mail and the employee once again was thrown for a loop, said that coupon was for orders placed via XYZ method and now she would have to try to find someone who could help her figure out how to apply the discount. That is when I turned around and exited. They need to work on this. The service snafus are all fixable by management. And the space itself is not welcoming, warts and all, most Panera's are that, and it seems to me it would be from difficult to impossible for a person using a wheelchair to find clear path of travel to a table to sit at. Panera, you can do and have done better for mere ADA compliance. This is the closest location to my home but I won't go back. Meridian or Boise are better options.

This time I tried the Lucky Irish Steakburger with fries. This burger has Swiss Cheese and grilled onions on rye bread. Very good. The fries, once again, were well seasoned and crispy, just the way I like them. The female server did a great job taking care of us. There were five men in our party, and she offered separate checks, which I really appreciated. I'm sure I'll be back.

It's a nice sports bar theme, but also welcoming and cozy. Once we sat down, a server came over immediately with menus. It seemed like she was the only server though, which made me feel badly for her...she never stopped moving the entire time we were there with taking orders, serving, refilling drinks, taking payments, etc. We had a party of four - I ordered the "Hail Mary" (2 patties, onion rings, bbq sauce, bacon, American cheese and pickles), hubby had the double steak burger and my friends ordered "The Big Hurt" and "Bullet Work". Bonus points for having multiple fries options (regular, garlic, French fry dippers and sweet potato), but unfortunately for me, they were out of sweet potato. Food came out relatively quickly and everything looked pretty delicious. My burger was bigger than I expected, which I appreciated. The onion ring was the perfect size for the patty and the drizzle of BBQ sauce was enough to flavor the burger without drowning it. The only downside was that the bacon wasn't crispy enough and the cheese was barely melted. The patties had some nice, crispy edges and the bun was soft even though it was toasted. It might have been bumped up a notch with some mayo on the bun, an extra slice of cheese and lettuce, but overall, it was a nice, very filling, burger. The fries were perfectly seasoned, slightly battered and the fry sauce was a great compliment. Everyone finished their meals and raved about how much they liked their burgers. Due to the one server taking care of so many tables, we didn't see her again until it was time for the check. Thankfully the water glasses were enormous and I luckily made it through dinner with just enough to drink. We would definitely visit again to check out all the great options on this menu!

We made our way in and waited till they showed up. The vibe was chill. There was another gentleman eating his burger. My husband and I checked out the menu while we waited. After my in laws showed up, we got what we wanted all lined to and ordered. I got the cheeseburger tonight with no bun and extra onions. I also good a side of zucchini fries. It's been about a year since we have eaten here and I remember the zucchini fries being so good! My burger looked fabulous! The zucchini fries had a nice golden crust to them. I was ready to dig in. I would have liked to put ketchup and mustard on my burger but unfortunately there were no to go packets of either. I can't really use communal sauces so I had to pass on adding sauce to my burger or be able to dip my husband's fries in ketchup. My burger was tasty. I did order it with extra onions and didn't really get any extra. I also don't remember my zucchini fries being so minimal to an order. The side I got today had about 6 rounds in it. As an additional cost, I honestly thought it would be more than 6 small rounds. It's been a year since we have eaten here. The food was good as usual. I do enjoy all the pinball machines that you can play on. The staff is nice. I appreciate that everything we ate today was locally sourced. I am sure we will be back again soon. Hopefully sooner than later.
