Good beer and cheap prices! They were $4 for a pint. They have a rotating menu and the owners were really nice. I wouldn't come here for the food as their pizza was just ok. However, if you are hungry, I'd highly recommend the artichoke dip! That was amazing but quite pricey. I've been to EagleMonk a bunch of times. The staff is very friendly and low key. If you like good, solid beer, then this is the place for you. The cheese breadsticks with jalapenos are tasty. My favorite beer is Red Eye Rye. Try whatever they have on cask. Dan and Sonia (the owners) make it a point to mingle with the patrons. The place has a local pub feel. read more

With the growing number of microbreweries in the Lansing area, EagleMonk remains at the top of my list. The beers they brew remain my favorite, and the atmosphere is very casual. They have the most reasonable mug club membership around, and make a tasty flatbread pizza. Visiting from Portland Oregon. Beer was decent. Not my favorite but I am particular. Pizza was pretty good. Thin crust with good flavor. Looks like a dive bar from the outside bit that adds to its charm. The ceiling is covered by membership mugs (a Michigan phenomenon?) Small game room with a mini shuffle board and a foosball table. Great place! Food was fresh and delicious - had pizzas. They were small enough so we could each get one to our own liking. Lots of toppings with nice crisp crust. Wonderful if you don't want a lot of bread. I think they also offered gluten free. Not much for vegan, but if you don't mind cheese the food was wonderful. We only tried one brew and not our first choice as they'd run out of that one. What we had was good and worth another try. The "frosting on the cake" was the 3 man band. Lots of original music and all very enjoyable for us old hippies. All in all would consider the 2+ hour drive from Detroit burbs for a nice night out. read more

I have enjoyed Eagle Monk 4 times now. The place is straight AWESOME. All their beer is tasty. I'm not huge into reds and dark beer but will drink theirs. Very good IPA!! I have not yet joined their membership but I need to. Great culture. The food is a wonderful surprise. Top 3 pizza in the area. Bread sticks are the best! I also enjoyed their veggie plate and hummus - they make all their own bread! Lastly the service is wonderful. People can easily feel dumb in a micro brew like this (not me) but the staff is very warm and friendly. Love love this place!!! read more

Good atmosphere in this place that is greatly limited by two factors. Size and location. The placement and size of this will forever make it a neighborhood bar, but in an area far too busy to support a neighborhood crowd. Capacity is 51 and the demand is more than that. Good for paying the Pizza is great and the beer is good, but could use a bit more depth. Even the cask beer, while being quite tasty, is a fairly basic flavor profile. I'll come again, if nothing more than to see what happens as the brewers experiment with these beers. read more

We love this place! We are newbies to craft beer, so we are still sampling and finding our groove with those, but I do have my favorite so far. Love the mug "club." It's fun to walk in and grab your own personal mug each visit. We really enjoy the pizza, and the kids love the serve yourself root beer and cream soda. This place is a gem in Lansing! This brewpub is a true diamond in the rough. I rode my bike from the hotel I was staying at and was questioning if it would actually be there. Their Delta Porter was tasty and paired beautifully with the MSU-made vanilla ice cream they serve for $1. This place is worth the visit and has a funky, fun atmosphere. We went to EagleMonk last Saturday after a trail race. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed their pizza. That was seriously the best I've had! The crust was phenomenal, it was NOT greasy at all and the taste was second to none! Oh and everyone working there was super nice and all about great customer service. Went in tonight to try their craft beer made on-site. IPA and porter were both tasty and filled to the top. Bar staff were very cordial. Will be back with empty growlers to take home. Nachos and artichoke dip were great, too! read more

I'm not in the Lansing area much, but I was over there after a trail run. Eagle Monk was close to the run so we went. At first arrival we were not to sure because it is just a little whole in the wall. We even joked about it looking like an old VFW post. This is a strong case of don't judge a book by it's cover! I started with a flight and instantly Pumpkin Rye went to the top of the list with bullet. We also ordered some pizzas. I had the all meat and it was one of the better pizzas I've had at a brewery. I do hope they do well enough to improve on the facilities, but your doing yourself a disservice if that stops your from enjoying them. Oh yeah some of the best root beer I've had too! read more

Delta Porter my favorite beer EVER. Going to replicate it so I never have to run out! The more experienced staff is great. We've seen some new faces lately and they aren't quite as personable. Owner was great, super cool guy, great looking bar, I fell in love with his Irish Red, brought back friends to drink 4 times, bought a howler and had it filled 2 times. The reason for the 2 stars is the tall cashier guy looked like he HATED me and my friends all got the same vibe. It was wierd. This was every time except for my first. No please or thank you from him or even a smile. I honestly felt like he HATED me when I'd ask for food or drink or when he'd hand us our change. Get ready for good beer, great owner, realy good Bbq chicken panini is great, but TED BUNDY should stay in the back room because it will be a while until I give them another try. Also the straw that did it for me was, I figured I'd just not drink there snymore, just stop in and get the Irish Red howler filled, but I went in and got the bottom of the old rotten Irish red flat left overs. First time I've felt sick from good beer. That could happen to the best of us. Like I said, the owner was great and I hope the best for him, great guy. Bold beers, good prices, great people. If you want atmosphere, bring it with you - the best part of the atmosphere at EM P&B is the attitude of the people that come in, smile, relax, talk with anyone willing to strike up a chat and give free, kindly advice on whatever topic is floating around. The owner put $$ into the right introductory places - beer, food, a place to rid oneself of both, a game room for those who want to drink and play or who can't drink, just play, and a mug club that makes you feel like you belong and are a part of the place. EM is not unlike the small pubs in Europe - and their start is our beer heritage. It's nice to see some are still on track after all these years. Personal and personable. Hats off to Dan and his crew; thanks for doing it in our neighborhood. West Lansing needed that. Its been 3 years since my last review on EM and I have to say that they have perfected their pizza! Its sooooo good. I recommend the bartender special - The beer was/is great ! Dan and Sonja are really nice people who run/own this place and they do a wonderful job hiring a great staff. Josh is my fav bartender. On Tuesday's the pizza is sold at discount - The pizza is unique and once you try it you will often crave it. The crust is homemade and delicious. Love this place. Cheers! read more

Ambience-weirdly plain-just a bunch of tables and chairs-like a middle-school lunchroom. Yeah, some artwork on walls but the place needs so finishing touches to bring it together. Seating capacity is 50 or so and if a full house-it's hard to hear-pretty echoey. Not a place for a quiet beer and conversation with a friend. They really need booths. It is nice to see the owner/brewmaster behind the bar-gives the place the feel of some tavern in the UK where they offer up their own brew and establish a reputation. (His wife was out and around helping as well) I liked the fact that the TV wasn't on-they just had some background music. The crowd was pretty much either 50+ or 20 something couples. One thing that struck me that unlike most restaurants in Lansing, not an electronic device in sight. These people were all talking to each other. What a concept! Further bolsters my plea for booths or something to absorb the sound. Beer-I'm not a big beer maven but what I had was good (Irish Red). Good flavor, not overly hoppy and surprisingly smooth with low carbonation. Went well with the pizza. Food-I had a pizza-nice flavor but I really fault their advertised use of a pizza stone. Those are a bit tricky to use and unless you really have the oven and stone hot, you will have an underdone crust. And that is what I had. I do like the fact that it was a thin crust but I do prefer them to be on the crunchy side. I really suggest that they ditch the pizza stone because it's just a shame-they have one of the best tasting pizzas in town. Bathrooms-modern and well-maintained. Good on them. Price-moderate. A pint of hand-crafted brew is under $5. Pizza was reasonable. read more

It is what it is, family owned and operated. With this comes some oddities. For instance, most of the games in the back are broke and some of the decor are like I walked into my grandparent's basement . Also, when you come in it as if they were not ready to open. Like the tv's are not on and there are no chairs set up on the patio. The umbrellas for the tables outside are too long so if the wind blows it can tip the table. Which is a big deal as I am very attached to my mug. Overall the beer is good the pizza is okay ( I just am not a fan of thin crust) and the prices are fantastic. If you don't mind hanging out at you awesome Brewer grandparents house you will love it. read more
