    Italian Pizza

Been here a handful of times but have never gotten their food. Well that was a mistake! Super pleased with the pizza we got, definitely would love to try some of their other food. Their beer is also spot on, don't sleep on this place!

We were on a mission to get some new tagabrews and this place was on our list. It was quite different than I expected. Very small! We ordered our beers and sat and enjoyed them. We got our tags and our hop passports stamped and off we went. I'd come back. But only if I was in the area.

Stumbled upon EagleMonk while in-town for a conference. We needed a place to eat dinner and I found this place on Yelp. The reviews looked promising. I was not sure what to expect but when we pulled up I did not know if we got to the right place. Single story cement block kind of structure. Divey/hole-in-the wall kind of feel? But once we step inside we felt welcomed. You will notice the mugs on the ceiling and the quaint/clean environment. Nothing fancy with the banquet style chairs and tables. Staff was very friendly. One staff member came over and explained how the place works and what they offer. Homemade dough and sauces, no fried foods, and no liquor. Unfortunately, we were looking for some good fried bar food, so we decided to pass on dinner but did get drinks. Place your order at the bar. There was a ton of beer options but I went with a hard cider. I went with the cherry cider and it was tart but refreshing - not overly sweet. I did notice a side room but did not explore to it. Also noticed some board games that were available to play. A chill, local spot with nice folks and good brews.

This is my favorite brewer anywhere, period. Dan is a fantastic Master Brewer and human. The Blueberry Wit is my poison so don't drink any of that

Good beer: IPA, red Weak menu, mostly pizza and the pizza is gluten free, which is not ideal. Margarita pie was not very good. Service is fast casual - order at the bar and take a seat. If you're solo, given the small space, this means ordering beer and food before securing a seat. There are enough employees - why not take orders at the tables? Ambiance is divey but not in a good way. They could do a lot to improve this place. Being more friendly and less businesslike might be a start. Only the bartender when I checked out seemed to care whether I was well-served. Good beer, though.

    My flight!

My friend and I went on a quick trip to visit breweries in Grand Rapids and stopped at EagleMonk on the way home. Honestly, their beer was the best of the entire trip! We were the first people there of the day and sat quickly at the bar. The bartender was super friendly and helpful to choose one of many beers on their list. We both each got a flight, and the first beer I tried was my favorite of the whole trip! It was the Instigator, and even though the description said winter, I thought it was still not too heavy. Both of us enjoyed our flights while we hung out chatting with the staff and other patrons who stopped in. Everyone was extremely friendly, and the bartender was helpful to give us information about other breweries in the area and talked with us about other Michigan breweries. He also gave us a few additional samples for free while we waited for him to fill our growlers. The space is a decently sized inside and their outdoor patio is dog friendly and awesome. I was sad that we were just passing through because I would have loved to stay, drink more beer, and eat some of their pizza because it looked and smelled delicious!

We are from out of town and here for a tournament and needed a place that would hold about 20 people. They said they had a back room so we went. When we pulled up my heart sank a little. The place is not at all what we expected. I felt like it was moldy smelling when we walked in but someone we were with said it was probably the smell of the beer making process so i can't confirm or deny that information. Most of the teens did not love their pizza but the adults thought it was fine. The paninis were decent and the spinach artichoke dip was good. If we ever came back to this area i would basically just come for their house made beers and ciders. They were excellent. The mixed berry cider was not sweet at all and I really enjoyed it. Their homemade soda was great too. My kids mixed the cream soda and orange to make a creamsicle. That was delicious. Service was good and they checked up on us even though you order from a counter so that was nice.

Tried the beer sampler. Every beer, without exception, was very good! Had the chicken and pesto pizza and it was delicious as well!

Best microbrew pub in the Lansing, Michigan area. Awesome place for a beer and a pizza or calzone and a salad. A great place to meet.

Update: I am sorry…read moreto update everyone that Travis left EnVie. The new bartender leaves so much to be desired. Pretentious bartender who really really wants to be known for being a mixologist. Don't you dare ask to modify any of his ingenious cocktail creations. I've been to many many bars in my lifetime. Nice bars, hole in the walls, distilleries, hotel bars, outdoor bars, cute little trailer-wedding bars, speakeasies. You get my point. My standards are high but i'm down wherever too. this is the first time anyone has refused to modify a drink for me. and i'm not talking about changing everything. i'm talking about swapping out mezcal for gin (there are barely any gin cocktails anymore). i've been here three or four times since the new bartender-- and i don't even sit at the bar anymore. the only redeeming quality of the place is the chef(s?) who I feel really takes care of people and makes the food with love and care and excellence. the burgers and steak are literal perfection. Le sigh. Travis if you're reading this-- Mike and I miss you!! Management, please try to get him back! Give him a fat raise! anything! your restaurant is going downhill quickly because 1) Travis is gone 2) Inflexible pretentious guy took his place.

Our appetizers were each excellent. Our group ordered the Brussels sprouts and white fish dip. Would order those again. For entres, we enjoyed the burgers, filet mignon, chicken bowl, and crab caps. Each of us enjoyed our meal and agreed we would recommend these plates to family & friends. The service was lights out. Attentive, fast, yet not intrusive. From beginning to end, on a busy evening, the team performed exceptionally. Well done EnVie team. We will certainly be back.

I was a little wary of trying Troppo given some of the vicious Yelp reviews, but my colleague…read moresuggested this place and had frequented it enough, so I came in with an open mind. I liked the service - they didn't rush me while I waited for my companion, and they were really attentive about refilling our water and checking up on us. I did think they could probably get rid of their straws, or at least automatically adding it to the water. It felt unnecessarily wasteful to the environment, and something they could keep in reserve for when people request it. I was debating between getting the chicken marsala, the mac and cheese, and their ravioli pomodoro. I had been looking forward to checking out the pumpkin ravioli I saw on their online menu, but I guess their website is out of date. I ended up getting the chicken marsala and a cup of roasted butternut squash soup. The butternut squash soup was fine, but I've definitely had better, and I definitely wouldn't order it again or particularly recommend it. The chicken marsala was not what I expected. I'm used to getting chicken Marsala at Italian places and this one looked different - had a dark sauce that I have never associated with marsala. I don't claim to be an expert though - just what I'm used to from the Italian joints I've been to in New York. It was good enough, but again, not delicious or anything to write home about. Especially for being $20 chicken marsala (more if you count the 3.5% credit card fee), I dont think I'd come back just for this.
