Stopped in at Eagle's Landing for dinner. The reviews said average so we didn't expect much. We got exactly that, average. I had grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. I think they fixed my meal and let it sit while they made my husband's dinner. I mean how else can you make a lousy grilled cheese with cold soup! Next time we will have grilled hot dogs over the campfire. The restaurant also advertised a full bar. Overall good. We came for lunch on a Monday and it was practically empty! Service great (our waitress was lovely), food good, portions excellent! What could be improved? 1. How about real plants and not ridiculous fake bonsai? 2. Blackened shrimp tacos still had tails on!!!??? YIKES! Taste was great though! 3. Cauliflower burger option great for my vegan husband and we're ALWAYS thankful that restaurants consider vegetarians and vegans - but they were literally big heads of cauliflower and it could have had more flavor, like maybe a vegan chipotle mayo or something similar 4. Our family has had many experiences at the Eagle's Landing restaurant, including a wedding 10 years ago, where we introduced the Congo line. Our most recent trip included a very lovely dinner for a party of 12, which was perfectly set up prior to our arrival. The service was extraordinary as always, and the food was Top-notch. We had a few little mix ups with our many orders, but they were corrected straight away. The food is horrible. I ordered my steak medium rare and it was delivered as medium well with almost no pink. Kids wouldn't eat their burgers because they were rock hard patties. Could barely bite them. My wife ordered a full rack of ribs tasted like they were made a week ago, reheated each night just in case, then put back in the fridge again. They were insanely dry. The veggies tasted like they come from frozen bags they they thawed and then tried to insanely over season to try to make you not notice how limp and soggy they were. I enjoyed my lunch today at Eagle's Landing. I ordered the Tri-Tip sandwich with a side salad. The beef was tender and peppers & mushrooms well-seasoned and on a soft warm roll. The side salad was was larger than what I'd expect from a garden salad. There is not a bad view from anywhere in the dining room, cozy and relaxing with the creek flowing along the footpath outside. Lorena the manager is lovely, engaging, bilingual, and accommodating - especially when I mistakenly arrived for lunch 30 minutes before service. I saw some staff interactions and obvious that her team is loyal and respects her. She had some great recommendations on what to do in area, along with nearby travel destinations. read more

This used to be a landmark, I used to look forward to the service the food and the atmosphere, now the food is tasteless, the service is terrible and the restaurant is filthy dirty. No one answers the phone. In my expert opinion as a food critic I expect better. Not only where the people rude and degrading, the orders where not taken properly, even after repeated attempts to correct. The Eagles Landing is by far the best food, service and atmosphere in June Lake (and maybe even Mammoth). Sage was our server and she was very welcoming and provided great service. I used to work for Connie the original owner and really enjoyed working there , and I know that she would be incredibly disappointed in what has happened to her restaurant. It is absolutely unacceptable and honestly really sad . If I could give zero stars I would. We called for over an hour to make a to go order and nobody answered. When we got to the restaurant it was empty at 530 pm on a Thursday during summer vacation . I was told the phones had been down for weeks "per management". I ordered fish tacos for my mom and asked for fries instead of rice and beans , I reminded the server three times . I was told with an eye roll, "yes miss I made sure there are fries .......She got rice and beans . The fish tacos had no flavor, the beans were bland and the rice was terrible . My son ordered the grilled cheese with soup. The bread was burnt and stale and the cheese was the flavor and consistency of old rubber. The soup was supposed to be tomato bisque and it was sour and inedible. My daughter ordered the "loaded baked potato ". She received two 2-3 inch golden potatoes , not a baked potato , they were mushy and overcooked . One was so bruised it couldn't be eaten . Neither potato was sliced open . With the "potato's" came three small containers with warm cheese huge chunks of green onion and enough bacon to cover half of one potato . No sour cream no sauces, not even ketchup. My burger was dry , tasteless, and I was not asked if I wanted any sauces . We spent 75 dollars with a tip,of our hard earned money, for a virtually inedible meal and poor customer service. No one should eat there . We had a similar experience the last time that we ate there. It is tragic that such a beautiful place has fallen into a state of utter neglect. read more

This was such a cool place to dine in during COVID in October. Guests were seated two to three booths apart. It was so quiet and peaceful. Only three tables were occupied, and a few people were outside on the deck. The Blue Cheese Salad was a great starter with lettuce, bacon, and blue cheese crumbles. Yum! I love blue cheese!! The three of us shared a Full Rack BBQ which included potato and corn. I asked for one more corn on a cob, but he gave us three extra. It's too bad the corn was bland and not very exciting even when I slathered a thick piece of butter. The potato was alright once I covered it with sour cream and butter. The BBQ was the star of the night! The sauce was finger-lickin' good, and the meat was perfectly cooked - juicy and fall of the bone kind of tender. We also enjoyed sharing the Chocolate Lava Cake. The warm melted gooey chocolate in the center was delicious with vanilla ice cream. This was an awesome way to end our day! read more

This is a beautiful restaurant at Double Eagle Resort where we have stayed twice now. I love the rustic look of the cabins and restaurant. The first time we ate here, I had the vegetarian curry & added chicken. The chicken was very dry, but otherwise the flavor was pretty good. Since I don't even remember what I had at the most recent visit, it must not have been especially good. Both times we ate here, the room was cold - even though the first time was in August. Probably due to all the windows which also let you see the beautiful outdoors. The service is good and most recently when I went I had a cast on my leg, so they seated us near the door. read more

We stopped by on a drive around the June Lake Loop. I had seen ads for this place for years and hoped to try it out. We had to wait a bit to get seated. As the wait staff explained they were short-staffed, slammed at lunch time and had to take everyone in turn. One of the staff said they'd get our order in as quickly as possible. After the experience my family had at Eagles Landing, I doubt if they will be able to stay open for much longer. It was clear that this restaurant has serious problems that are not possible to easily fix. During the meal, I thought that this was our server's first night of work, I later learned that he had been working as a server at the restaurant for quite a few months. He truly lacked any sort of understanding of what his duties were as a server since he never picked up our menus, had to be asked repeatedly to refill drinks, brought out dinner plates missing major components, did not provide butter for rolls, etc. A large portion of the food was inedible. My soup was lukewarm at best and I had to send my dinner back twice since it was brought out cold (the meat felt like it had come straight from a refrigerator). The meat was so salty that I couldn't eat it. My wife and daughter only ate the potatoes off their plates and left the rest of the dinner. Our server didn't seem to understand that it was not acceptable to be serving such poor quality food. When I went up front to speak to a manager I was instead directed to speak to the bartender since there wasn't a manager that night. The bartender just shrugged his shoulders when I told him that our meals were inedible. He finally said "What do you want me to do about it?" I told him, "Make things right." He never would come to our table to see that we couldn't eat the food that was served and wouldn't take the inedible food off our check. In the end, we received a 15% discount on overpriced food that we couldn't eat. We went home hungry and ended up eating peanut butter on bread for dinner. There are much better choices in June Lake. Eagles Landing was the most disappointing restaurant experience in my entire life. read more

We ate here for dinner and breakfast, both were excellent! My daughter had the pasta Alfredo which was amazing and I had the burger, delicious! For breakfast I had breakfast egg, bacon, bagel which was more like a croissant/bagel and so good! My daughter had the breakfast burrito, also tasty. I highly recommend it. Stopped in here totally randomly for a quick lunch on our way back from Tahoe and was blown away by the food quality and taste. I had the Rush Burger (name?) with caramelized onions and bacon and it was absolutely divine, 10/10. Thick patty, well seasoned, cooked perfectly to order, and a good bun to boot. My husband enjoyed the Tri Tip Sandwich and both lunch entrees came with a large serving of fries. Two beers and two entrees cost us about $52 and I definitely feel that is a fair price considering how much food we got. Our service made up for what I'd regard as relatively mediocre 3/5 food. The price was fair for what you got. The wedge salad was okay. I was disappointed after seeing others's photos of the same. We had maybe a half slice of chopped up bacon in it. The vegetarian curry was...forgettable. I should have known to skip it when I asked the server how it was and he hesitated and told me to add chicken. The carrots were not steamed enough and had too much of a bite. The sauce was also too heavy-handed with black pepper. The howlin coyote pasta was a good value for what you got. My partner was stoked on it. We also got a slice of cheesecake and a couple glasses of beer and wine...each hehe. Covid limited the seating. It was so peaceful until it started filling up with families with lots of loud and lightly-supervised kids. Oh well - more wine! This place fits the bill of your typical small seasonal resort town restaurant. Portions are large, and rich, and generally overpriced. The service is solid, and the restaurant itself is a step removed from quaint. We ate at the Eagle's Landing a few times during our recent stay at the Double Eagle Resort. Overall was a very positive experience. Really appreciated it's only a 3 min walk from the rooms. And appreciated how good the food is. The highlights were the ribeye steak, and the June Burger. Breakfast is good too, and is available around 7:45AM which is nice to grab an early breakfast and then head to ski. Made our stay much better not having to drive 5 miles in the snow for dinner. read more

I was skeptical due to the reviews regarding the service at this restaurant, but there's not many choices in town especially some other places are closed throughout winter starting before first snow. We got here without reservation for a group of 15, in our exotic car drive group. There's ample parking available for us out front, and the restaurant ground was very pretty, small trails and creeks and lovely trees with colored foliage at this time of the year. There's around 4 tables of guests when we arrived. When we checked in the manager was a bit nervous due to the number of people, but we waited a reasonable amount of time before being sat (I believe it was around 10-15 min). Once sat the waiter told us he's the waiter, food prep and dishwasher as well, so we know there's prob only 3 guys running this whole operation. We were served waters and drinks within a reasonable time frame (5-7 minutes?). The food took probably around 20 minutes but we seriously thought that's a win for a big table. The food's delicious and the portion is big, and well priced. The mountain view from the main dining hall was breathtaking, plus the architecture was a mountain cabin so it was the perfect setting for this location. Out back there's more trees and some nice landscape. When it came time for the bill, it was quick. It couldnt have turned out any better for us, we had a great time and rest here and carried on the rest of our 1100 mile trip back home. Great location as it's minutes away from the serenity of the nearby lakes. I suspect the reviews are mostly regarding the dinners at this place, where there's more people and even shorter on staff. Had a wonderful meal here the other night. It was quite crowded, but we got excellent service and the food was very good. I had the teriyaki salmon with veggies and rice. The salmon was done perfectly and the rice was wonderfully sticky which I love. The restaurant was cozy and comfy. Then we had lunch the next day and I had the wedge which was very good too. Have never been to this Resort and so far we have had a wonderful massage, two great meals and our cabin is very comfortable and cozy. The scenery around here during October is just beautiful. The first day we got here we saw 8 deer walking on the grass by the pond. We will definitely come back here. Maybe during the winter when it is snowing. read more
