Another great dining experience at The Mogul Restaurant. We had a party of 8 adults. Our reservation was for 5:30pm and we were sat right away. Our server Miguel was fantastic. Very friendly, smiled, super attentive. We were never left waiting for service throughout the evening. We all ordered drinks. My dirty martini was made properly and served ice cold. My husband And I both ordered the filets. My filet was cooked perfectly medium and my husband's was served perfect medium rare. The baked potatoes were baked nicely as well. It came with a vegetable side of asparagus and carrots. They were steamed and okay. They were not seasoned that we could tell. Unfortunately our friend's New York steak was tough and they didn't finish it. Everyone else seamed to like their meal. Dinner was solid and served in a timely manner and service excellent.

The mogul was decent! Not as fine dining as I think we were originally lookin for, but the food was great and the experience was just as good. I had the prime rib which was delicious as well as some scallops and other steaks served at the table. Our waiter was very good and attentive, even if he spilled a bit of our $300 champagne. No harm no foul. If you're lookin for upscale, this isn't necessarily the place. Mogul has more of a "under the radar steakhouse" feel to it, with Americana vibes.

My buddy and I had The Mogul on our first night skiing in Mammoth this past season. I would never denigrate this excellent restaurant by comparing it to wannabe joints like Tahoe Joe's but only to say that The Mogul is what TJ's tries to emulate. But this place is the real deal and authentic Sierra dining. The staff are incredibly kind and friendly. Their menu is straight-forward and simple to navigate without too many options: These are the best kinds of restaurants. I went with their famous prime rib and even scored the last end-cut of the night. It was nicely seasoned and expertly cooked. My friend got the elk - one of the specials that evening. It was equally tasty. The blackberry pie for dessert rounded off an excellent meal. Looking forward to my next Mammoth ski trip and dining here after a long day on the slopes.

Mogul's is a true classic gem in Mammoth lakes! Taylor and David provided a very warm welcoming family vibe. We both had the elk which was on special and so tasty and tender. The artichoke appetizer was very delicious. So glad I chose this place, will come back next season.

We went here 4 years ago when I proposed to my wife and now we're back for my birthday. Negatives: -price; the prices are a little higher, but the portions are good and the food is amazing. Positives: -taste; we got the elk chop special and the pork chop. The elk chops were amazingly tender and barely gamey. The only time I had elk was elk jerky, so this was definitely a first for me. I'm glad I gave it a try because it was one of the best cuts of meat that I've ever had. My wife's pork chop was really good too, it was very tasty and moist. -service; our server David was very friendly, responsive, and he made sure we were completely satisfied. -ambiance; it was like a cabin homey and a place you'll want to be to hide from the cold. Overall 5/5 They gave me a sundae for my birthday and sang too. I left 100% satisfied and based on this time I would definitely return earlier than 4 years next time

Made a reservation when it opened for dinner. We were greeted with warm smile. Felt right at home. We were seated promptly. The waitress was knowledgeable about the daily specials and was super courteous. We ordered the Artichoke Dip and I ordered the Rib Eye. Both were excellent. The Rib Eye wa perfectly made to order. Definitely, a great place to eat when visiting Mammoth.

We chose to come here for dinner purely due to the location. This was literally across the street from where we were staying. The place was packed, fortunately we did not have to wait long for a table either since there was only the 2 of us. We got seated within 10 minutes. Waitress immediately came by to take our order (again not a long wait). I ordered the pork chop and rice pilaf and my fiancé had the prime rib and mashed potatoes. Fresh baked bread was also brought to the table - which was amazing. Everything we had was amazing! From the speed of the service to the quality of the food and the rustic vibe from the restaurant. We loved every bit of it.

The best restaurant in Mammoth. Great atmosphere and great service. The best Caesar salad I've had in a long time.

Been here a couple times now, and overall the restaurant is decent but not special. The prime rib is always a lock. The ribeye is also solid with nice char lines. Cocktails are decent. Had to wait 10+ min for our table despite reservations though. They don't really rotate their menu much - their specials are exactly the same as one year ago. Bottom line: if you're feeling a solid steak or prime rib, Mogul is nice and is above avg for what you'll find in Mammoth.

Special app was steamed artichoke delicious

MY KIDS ATE GOOD HERE! This is an OG Mammoth family owned restaurant and my in-laws loved it and so we brought our kids to try it and also got our stamp of approval. PROS: - prime rib medium rare was cooked perfectly. Mashed potatoes were rich and broccoli side flavorful - lobster tail dinner (1 for $50 and $2 for $89) was succulent and delicious w/ the melted butter. Baked potato w/ butter sour cream was basic. - free bread basket came hot and fresh and my kids ate it up (even with the herbs baked in it) - kids meal pasta (red sauce) was a big portion and my kiddos devoured it (picture is proof lol) - special appetizer was whole steamed artichoke and it was yum - bottle of wine was priced great not too hiked up like other spots - service was A++ our guy was very attentive and friendly. The bussers always came by to clear the table - restroom was clean and they had a baby changing table FTW! CONS: - nada nothing! We'll definitely be regulars here on our family vacations. Thank you for a wonderful dinner service!

AMAZING restaurant experience in Mammoth Lakes! This is one of the best steak places I have tried!! We had drinks first, then an appetizer, followed by the main courses (Check photos). Our server and griller Chef, Karen, is amazing as well! The Restaurant has an intimate atmosphere, the restroom is clean, and everyone in the restaurant, from the host/hostess to the busser to the server, is welcoming and knowledgeable about the food.

The service was great, the food took a normal amount of time and we had no wait for a table. It was a nice and romantic dinner! The only set back was the steak, it wasn't very flavorful and it definitely wasn't med rare... I had to add A1 sauce and I never do that but everything else was amazing especially the lobster. I forgot the kind of fish my husband ordered but he enjoyed it!

Bug with legs in my food, then gaslit by manager when I pointed it out. Guess that's normal to him. U see the legs?

This is unsafe and unacceptable, especially for children's food. The steak was ordered medium well, but was served well done -- completely overcooked. The chimichurri sauce was also misleading: instead of the classic green sauce, a red mixture was served that had nothing to do with it. The coleslaw was simply awful. Additionally, the staff showed no proper response -- we were not offered a replacement, a discount, or even a proper apology. This reflects a complete disregard for service standards and customer care. In its current state, this does not meet even basic restaurant standards.

I highly recommend waiting in their waiting area or downstairs for your table as they will come to find to if something opens up quicker. Everything we ordered was tasty. We were very hesitant to try the Asian sticky ribs but it actually ended up being really good. I can't remember what the vegetable dish (4th pic) was called but it was also very good if you got a bite with everything in it. It had sweet potato, beet, candied walnuts and pomegranate seeds! We also ordered some drinks. The curry drink (forgot the name) was surprisingly good despite the odd list of ingredients that went in. Their local black cherry soda was also very nice. Service is great and very helpful when it came to recommendations. The space is small and doesn't allow dogs which was a bummer but still a spot I would come back to try more of their seasonal items!

We visited as a family of four and made reservations ahead of time after hearing so many great things--and we felt incredibly fortunate to secure a Sunday booking, especially since they're closed Monday through Wednesday. It ended up being the perfect way to begin our time in Mammoth. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and efficient without ever feeling rushed. And the food? Absolutely divine. Every dish reflected the expertise and care of a master chef with decades of experience in Norwegian cuisine. What truly elevated the evening was the personal touch--the chef graciously visited our table to greet us and ensure everything was to our liking. That kind of hospitality is rare and deeply appreciated. We ordered three appetizers, a soup, three entrées, and finished with crème brûlée for dessert--and every single item was flawless. The open kitchen adds a level of sophistication and elegance that made us very excited for the meal. Our server was very friendly, personable, attentive and helpful with recommendations. Unfortunately, ambiance and service proved to be the two best attributes of this restaurant. We started the meal with the Hamachi Crudo, which was well constructed, but something was unpleasantly fishy on the plate... not sure if it was the roe, the scallops, or the fish itself. The Little Gems salad had a nice flavorful Danish blue cheese, but the lettuce looked like it was washed, cut and prepped the day before (rotten sections where it had been chopped). The beets were totally bland and unseasoned, like they were just boiled, cooled, cubed and thrown on the plate. For a fine dining restaurant, you would hope that every component on its own would be individually seasoned. The mushroom soup was very flat tasting, and the texture of the puck of mushrooms in the bottom of the bowl that had hot broth poured table side was not enjoyable to eat at all. They tasted like gross, chewy reconstituted dried mushrooms... very unpleasant. For our mains, we ordered the Scallops and the Steak. The scallops were undercooked. My wife had a hard time finishing them. We weren't concerned about health risks considering how upscale this place was, but texturally you want a seared scallop to have a nice bouncy texture when you bite into it. These were very soft. On a positive note, the sauce was flavorful though. I am assuming my steak was cooked sous vide because it was insanely soft (almost mushy) and cooled down about 2 minutes after being brought to the table. There was no texture to it at all, and it had an odd warmed over flavor, like it was maybe cooked far in advance and then seared to order. The sides of potatoes and vegetables were more delicious to be honest. Overall, while I cannot fault the setting, ambiance and service, the food fell extremely short. Especially for the $300 we spent after tip.

This was our first time staying for the weekend at the lodge, and we were genuinely excited about the experience. The space itself is small, cozy, and intimate in the best way. It feels warm and inviting, especially after a long day in the cold, and sets the tone for a relaxed, linger-over-wine kind of dinner. The food was excellent across the board. We ordered elk, cod, and scallops and the scallops were the clear mic drop. Perfectly cooked, rich, and memorable. Our server recommended a bottle of wine that paired beautifully with everything and felt like someone actually listened instead of just pointing at the most expensive option. Service all around was warm, attentive, and unpretentious, which is not always a given in resort towns. Dessert was sorbet, simple but refreshing, and my girlfriend ordered a port she really enjoyed. After dinner we took the rest of the wine, grabbed a seat by the fireplace, and played chess, which felt like the most civilized way possible to end a night in the snow. Logistics wise, getting here can be a little annoying, especially if you are staying up at Mammoth Mountain Inn. You will want to call a taxi and plan ahead. That said, the extra effort was completely worth it. This is easily one of the best restaurants in Mammoth and the kind of place that makes you forget about the drive once the first plate hits the table.

The tables use a bar code scanning system to order food and drinks, then a person will deliver the food. I'm okay with this but I can see why some people would be frustrated with this process. For the appetizer we ordered the POBLANO ARTICHOKE DIP - $16 Artichoke, Poblano Chile, Corn, Cheddar, Colby Jack, Parmesan, Garlic, Mayonnaise, Sour Cream, Cream Cheese. Warmed and served with Pita bread or chips. We elected for the tortilla chips. This is a tasty appetizer and the perfect size for two people. For drinks we ordered two different hot cocktails served almost like a hot tea. Mulling it over - $17 Glass Creek Vodka, Mulled Spice Juice, Lemon. This was quite good and had a little bit of sweetness. The second was The Hot Toddy. $17. American Single Malt Whiskey, Lemon, Honey, Ginger. This tasted a little stronger and no sweetness. Do I think the drinks are a little expensive , yes. But sadly that is what you come across in a ski village. My husband and I returned again and everything was back to normal. We did sit closer to the front door, but the music seemed to be just fine. Eric was our server with assistance from Em and Brian. Everybody was so attentive and on top of things. The minute my water glass was half empty, Brian had it filled up. The owner, Matt, even came out to say hello. We told him that we have been following him since he was chef at the gas station My husband and I are older and don't eat as much as we used to. So this time we split a dinner Caesar and split the ribs. They are so kind to give us separate plates and no split charge. The food and our experience was excellent. When asked by visitors where to eat, we sent them to Toomey's.

She was great to advise choices and provided helpful suggestions. (Owner - please send our compliments to her) Food was fantastic- wife and I split a whole rack of St Louis ribs - we could barely finish 1/2 of the rack (yeah! Leftovers!) Spicy Fried Chicken was to die for. Also we ordered the brussel sprouts as an appetizer- great choice! We will be back next time we visit Mammoth. Thank you!

Then when we were seated the server acted like she didn't want to do her job. Never checked on us, would walk away before we are done ordering, and had to be reminded to go to the bar and pick up our very late drinks. She said the bar was slammed but I literally saw our icy martinis melting on the bar counter for 15 mine. Food was okay but Staff is obviously very unhappy there and it shows. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Shady! Check your receipt. Asks if I want ranch, no mention of charge. It shows up on my bill. Beer was also on menu for $7, but charged $8.

Food- burger that is hefty and flavorful; which compliments the Hair of the Bear. I want to like the waffle fries, but needed a little bit more crunch. Pricing - resort town prices. Walked away with a way lighter wallet, but good times are priceless. Serive - top of the line. Attentive, but not intrusive. Parking - plenty to be had during spring. Restroom - didnt use this time. Dont have an opinion. Ambiance - warm and comfortable like a cabin feel.

Is phone that requires you to pay with tip when ordering. When did a tip stop being for service? How do you give someone a tip for service before they provide the service? Unfortunately, I've seen this at other places too, just over how ridiculous tipping has become and will avoid these places in the future. Sorry for the rant. Anyway, I was giving 3 stars initially and then the food came out. Both my buddy and I got the hot chicken sandwich, which I had here over a year ago and was good. This time it was over cooked and dry. So dry it was hard to swallow even with slaw in it. The waffle fries were stale, and both the sandwiches and fries were room temperature even though it came out within minutes of ordering. I appreciate fast food delivery, but this seemed like a it was just reheated. The server was friendly and came back and checked in us, so that was good, but we'll be going back to our regular brewery in the future.
