Having read some negative reviews, I had originally decided not to go here and to go to the establishment across the street, which is Detroit Fleat. Hobby and I were going to have dinner before attending our first improv class at Go U, and we had decided to grab something to eat prior to class. Well, getting to class took us longer than we anticipated and we figured Earl's would be quicker than the alternative. And I'm glad we went. I had the BLT which was tasty, and hubby got mozzarella sticks which were also tasty. Service was friendly and quick, and we ended up getting to class in plenty of time.

Your classic diner experience. The waitresses are incredibly friendly and quick. The food is tasty and well priced. The coffee and water refills are fast.

This is the best little diner I ever did stumble across. The staff is friendly and the food gets cooked very fast. I've tried a few different breakfast items and I've been nothing but satisfied. I've tried their eggs Benedict and also an omelette with egg whites. Whenever I don't feel like cooking breakfast this is my place!

Hunter's Burger - The burger was amazing and I couldn't eat all the fries after.

I love coming to this place! The wait staff is dependable and you can expect to see the same nice ladies every time you come. I don't experiment too much with the menu because I usually just order chili cheese fries as a meal from here for $3.99. For this visit though, with the intention of writing this, my husband and I mixed it up! I was a fan of everything we got.

Worst food I've had in this city so far. If I could give it zero stars, I would. Awful service, awful food.

This is the perfect diner- still has the old timey vibe, but includes the really amazing food for a decent price. I ordered the Benedict on latkes and added spinach, avocado and side of grits. The eggs were perfectly poached and runny. The grits had a Parmesan crust which really brought this over the top. The side pancakes had a really good buttermilk flavor. My husband loved the lobster Benedict. Dare I say this was the best biscuits and gravy I have had at a restaurant?? Actually very well spiced and not boring like most places. Try it if you add a fan of B&G or try it if you aren't and you will become a fan!

That said, I think I keep coming back for their homemade jams. They're all fresh and delicious, but the raspberry is definitely my favorite. The restaurant used to be super tiny, but after the expansion there's so much more seating, and the wait times are much shorter than they used to be. One of my favorite little touches is their collection of salt and pepper shakers. They're fun, unique, and you never know which set you'll get at your table on your next visit!

I used to live nearby about 25 years ago and remember coming to a diner in this area for breakfast back then. Fast forward to today--this isn't the same place, but wow, it's absolutely amazing. Right away I loved the vibe. The chalkboards with handwritten menu items and daily specials on the walls give the place so much character and charm. It feels welcoming, classic, and cool all at the same time. The customer service was excellent from start to finish--friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. I ordered the country breakfast, which came with biscuits and gravy, eggs, toast, potatoes, and sausage--everything was spot on. I'm usually not a big hash browns person, so I really appreciated that they offer an alternative to the shredded style. I went with the cubed breakfast potatoes (not sure what they officially call them), and they were so much better--crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Between the food, the service, and the overall atmosphere, this place completely won me over. I already know I'll be back next weekend. Oak Diner has a really, really good vibe, and I'm glad I rediscovered breakfast here. Highly recommend.

The space is adorable and welcoming and the staff were just as welcoming and helpful to us, as first-timers. Public House has an extensive vegan menu that they are pretty proud of. We however opted for the regular Pastrami Hash and Chicken & Waffles. Both were delightful from taste to texture! The chicken was fried and seasoned to perfection. The fresh veggies and amazing mornay sauce made the pastrami dish my personal favorite. We look forward to trying them intentionally very soon!

In fact, several of my friends traveled to the area specifically to visit Public House. Sadly, the menu has changed and there are no only three items on the menu for Vegans. The items are the Strawberry Shortcake, which was a prior favorite, but has been reduced in its appeal by the omission of the vegan cream that topped it off and the other items are a Burrito Bowl, which is available anywhere you go through the addition and deduction of conventional food items, and the Chik n waffle. This reduced menu of three items compared to the 24 + conventional items on the menu is extremely disappointing. Service wise the greeting at the front door was very slow when there was only one other patron in front of us. It literally took 10 minutes to be greeted and the restaurant was not full compared to its previous more appealing times for Vegans where you really did have to wait. The staff was over all very friendly and accommodating. You couldn't ask for a nice group of people. And the diversity of the team is amazing....it is noticed and valued! The strawberry shortcake without the whip cream is good but the vegan whipped cream makes a difference and was notably missing. The Bloody Mary was pretty good. Overall...it's a ok place for Vegans but no longer a great place us.
