Wife and I wanted to try a breakfast spot and this showed up as hot and new on Yelp. First of all, the ambiance and decor was amazing!! Very modern and chic to say the least. We were seated right away and placed our order. We did have to wait about 35 mins for our food but this was to be expected since this was a new restaurant and only open for 2 weeks. The sunrise bowl and the breakfast street sandwich and hash was spectacular. Portion sizes are huge here! Along with that, I should add this is a family owned business and it shows when they clean. This was one of the few places we've been to where they clean the high chairs and my wife made mention of that. Waiter came to us in about 5 mins. Food came out in about 20 mins. The restaurant is beautiful. The waiter was nice and apologetic for the wait. The food was disappointing. I got the classic sunrise bowl. It was too salty for my taste. And there was an egg shell left in my bowl. My husband ordered the steak and eggs. He wanted medium rare and got well done. We decided to try this cafe out after various compliments from our friends. Waited for our food for more then 40 mins keep in mind we only ordered the birdie waffle and the crispy chicken sandwich. My husband asked for a coffee refill about 2 times but our server Ann did not come and check up on us. by the time she brought our food out the waffle was soggy and the chicken wasn't breaded well. This place is pricey. When we ended up leaving the server kept giving us bad looks just cause we didn't tip enough. So I stopped by here the other day and looked into the window trying to see if they were open. I could see some people in there but didn't know what was going on. Next thing you know, the owners greeted me and told me to come in to check the place out. Wow, the place looks amazing and apparently my timing was perfect because they were having a food tasting inside along with some, if not all of the servers, and other staff members. They invited me to try a few things on their upcoming menu and wanted to make them fresh on the spot for me... and I definitely didn't refuse! They said they will be opening in a few days, and they wanted to see what I thought of the food and ambiance. This was an opportunity I couldn't believe. OMG... their banana pancakes were melting in my mouth... the brisket omelette was the most amazing thing I've ever tasted with the most tender cuts of brisket. I wish I took a picture, but the owners want to keep the entrees a secret until opening, which I understand. Folks, I can't wait to spend my mornings at this place once it opens. If the other offerings are like the ones I tasted, then this will be the best breakfast/lunch place in Richmond! Brand new restaurant! Excellent service and delicious food. So hard to find good breakfast places these days. This place did not disappoint.

This was a great spot that opened up in the ever expanding Richmond community! We had seen their grand opening sign earlier but never got a chance to get it out until yesterday. The chicken and waffles were really nice and the honey mustard dipping sauce was excellent. The seating area was nice and spread out so and the commitment to the blue color scheme everywhere was much appreciated . They're testing out their new mocktails as well. I had the blueberry mint which was delicious and my wife had the cinnamon dolce iced coffee which was just sweet enough for us while also being a solid pick me up. The birria tacos were also super juicy and they even gave some consume on the side to dip it into. The staff was great and the all blue color scheme they had going on was really nice! Food was awesome and tasty. My mom has a limited palette due to dentures. It was nice to have options to accommodate her. We ordered her the biscuits, gravy & eggs with a side of avocado and brisket. She thoroughly enjoyed it and it was soft enough for her. I ordered the brisket breakfast burrito (I'm from California) and that was delicious. Service was amazing, our server was Taelani but we were assisted by everyone. It was very easy to get anyone's attention of needed. I will start this review by stating I believe the early bird Café is in a great location, aesthetically pleasing on the inside and food is great. However, the customer service could use some work. I went there for a quick breakfast and conduct a meeting and waited quite a bit of time for someone to come to the table to offer coffee. Once I did place the order for coffee it took a very long time for the coffee to returnThe waitress are not as pleasant as you would expect for a small café. They have minimum staff there and maybe because it was a rainy day the espresso machine wasn't working. The registers wasn't working, and the lights constantly were flickering on and off above the table where I was sitting. I truly hope improvements are made as it will be great if this breakfast/coffee spot could stay in the test of time. read more

I was actually embarrassed by how unpleasant my meal was here. It was shortly after opening and I was the only one there. First impression was in the form of tepid watery coffee. Like someone brewed one cup, diluted it to a pot, then poured it into a chilled glass. I don't think I've ever sent anything back, but I let the server know something might be wrong with the coffee maker. The second attempt was exactly the same, lol. By the 3rd try, I checked the glass first and it again wasn't even warm, but I drank a sip and it was better. I was already embarrassed, it was awkward with the server, and I didn't want to make anyone feel worse. At least they were trying. Ordered the crab cake Benedict and a side of sausage. They looked amazing. Nice chat on the sausage patties and the Benedict looked great. First bite of the sausage was delicious but not even above room temperature, lol! I was so disappointed at this point I didn't really care about finishing. I literally laughed out loud (quietly since I was the only one eating) when I cut into my poached egg and it was damn near hard boiled. The irony was impossible to ignore. The universe doesn't want me to go back here. I guess they were told to bring everything out on trays (noticed the comment in a review), but I think it's a bit overboard to bring a single cup of coffee or a single plate out on a huge tray like that. Maybe I just don't know how it's done. TL;DR Flavors were great, coffee was weak and cold even after sending it back twice. Benedict eggs were almost hard boiled yolks. Tasted good enough to mention it twice. There's potential, but I'm not gonna risk being disappointed by trying again. read more

My husband and I went there around 10. It didn't look too busy but even with that the food took long. We had to ask for refill and napkins as well. There were three ladies there and you could tell they were doing everything they were answering call and taking order and making the drinks. It was only three of them at the time.
