Overall it's a shame that Steve, the owner, is so rude and challenging when you ask a question about the charges. Hard to believe, but he spoke harshly and hung up on me when I asked why there was an additional $99 charge. I even said I was not refusing the payment; I just wanted an explanation. That said, Morgan, the technician that reset the button (literally all needed), was lovely, thorough, and pleasant. My system is old and will need to be replaced; however, Steve got his wish - I paid the additional $99 and will never do business with Earthwise again, and I hope you will not either. Rude behavior is the last thing a customer should expect, especially from the owner. Note: Steve could have fixed this with a callback, a simple explanation, or an apology for his rude comments and hang-up. One can hope he may read this review and do better in the future. . read more

I had a new AC installed in my ForestGrove a few years ago. It worked fine until the metal backed tape on the unit in my garage failed. The garage is cool and the rest of the house is hot, especially upstairs. I noticed a two inch gap around a cover . The wrong cover had been installed and just taped on rather than getting screwed on. No tape I can find will hold it on and the air pressure forces it open again. I called Earthwise to have them fix it. My first call was May 18. They didn't call back. Two more calls in the next week got me the reply of "We are busy". They need to make this good by getting the correct part or fabricating one. The AC unit was well over $3000. I have made a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

I so appreciated how much he checked in with us and how well he communicated during the whole process of getting a new AC installed. He's a very honest person, which meant a lot to us. Our water heater decided to stop working about 10:30pm ! I tried to restart pilot light at no avail. Then I got on line with Hone Advisors/Angies List and left messages to business hoping for a fast reply in the morning. Got one that night from Steve at Earthwise! He was out at 830am the next morning. By 11:30 water heater was at my house and got installed at 2pm by Allan and Gary. By 3:45pm all in and clean-up done! Super job, couldn't be happier! Thomas came to our house to repair a mother board during the winter storm. We went out and purchased the new mother board and we were back with heat in no time. Today, Thomas came and quickly reprogrammed out AC that stopped working from the Winter storm. He is an extremely knowledgeable guy, if he doesn't know the answer, he quickly researches and fixes the issue. He's wonderful in my book. read more

Thomas arrived on time and quickly diagnosed the problem before he located, purchased, and installed the failed switch. While he completed our scheduled maintenance, he answered all of my questions and recommended options for the future without upselling us at all. My gas furnace stopped working and it exhibited symptoms similar to a previous failure (11 years ago) when the ignitor failed. I submitted a request for quotes to Angi.com. Within 30 minutes Steve contacted me, asking if he could help. I said I would research online reviews for Earthwise heating and cooling and then get back to him. After checking online reviews for 20 minutes, it appeared that Earthwise is highly rated so I called Steve back and he was able to get me an appointment for the next day at 8AM. Thomas the technician arrived at 8:08AM which I thought was REALLY good as he came from Gaston to Beaverton. After doing some diagnostic work, Thomas agreed it was the ignitor and he had it replace in less than 20 minutes. The bill was much less than I expected. Additionally Thomas pointed out one non-critical issue that I was already aware of so I knew he was not trying to upsell me. The entire service call from the time Thomas rang the door bell, to the time we finished the paper work was about 35 minutes and now we are all warm and cozy! read more

I would not recommend Earthwise as a reputable HVAC contractor, They charged me a $99 cleaning fee on top of a $150 service call and when I checked if the AC had been cleaned, it had not! I sent pictures to the owner Steve and to the Tech that was at my house in June complaining about the lack of cleaning on the coils. I sent the pictures of the dirty coils to the tech and the owner Steve. The tech never responded and the Steve was not interested in making it right. I asked for a refund of the cleaning fee and that did not happen! Do not use Earthwise! read more

Answered the door wearing a mask in my own house and politely asked the guy from Earthwise to wear a mask while in our house as we have immunocompromised people living here. His response was "you want ME to wear a mask? I thought we were done with all that". Seriously? This is not public property. This is my house and you are here to provide a service. He reluctantly put in a mask and then came back to ask if the plumber had to wear one too. So we told him, yes anyone coming in the house has to wear one while in the house. Then he comes back a THIRD time and asks if he has to wear it while working on the water heater. Are you kidding me? At this point we are considering calling and asking them to send someone else. I'm blown away by the rude, completely inconsiderate, and complete lack of customer service from this person. Its a simple request and you have no right to be disrespectful to your customers. It's no different than when homeowners ask you to take off your shoes, except here people are being protected instead of carpet. Seriously makes me question the quality of their work if they care so little about their customer. read more

SCAMMER! Steve came out to my mom's house after telling her that the service call would be $99. After only spending 30 min looking at the furnace, told her that she needed to replace it because there was a, "gas leak" and it was just too old. After she told him she wanted a second opinion, he then told her she needed to pay him $149 for his work. When she got someone else out the next day, that company tested for a leak and there were no bubbles, meaning no leak! He also said it's a functioning furnace and only needs maintenance if anything. I needed my water heater to be replaced and chose Earthwise because of the positive reviews. I was not disappointed. I called on Friday and was told they would be there Monday morning They showed up at 9 am and had it installed quickly. New hoses and earthquake straps, and they hauled the old one away to boot. From the owner and all his employees that came to my house, they were all highly dedicated professionals that were very experience, honest, and extremely hard workers! My old furnace died on one of the coldest day and I called them on Saturday and first thing Monday they started working and by Noon the next day I had my new High Efficiency furnace instated! We could not be more impressed with Earthwise Heating and Cooling. Steven Matiaco, the owner, is an honest and hardworking person who really cares about his customers and goes the extra mile to make sure that the job is done right and for a good price. We own a 4-plex in Beaverton that we discovered had problems with the heating system. We had just had a really bad experience with another contractor, and we were in a particularly tough situation so we were very anxious. Steven worked extra hard to find creative solutions to our issues to help us save money and was very good at communicating clearly throughout the whole project. The room our heating system was located in was not up to code, and the system had major problems with it. Steven found ways to install the new furnaces so that we could bring everything up to code, but also save money. When he found that he could actually do something for less than he'd originally quoted us, he let us know and sent us a new contract with the lower price. He didn't have to do that. He could have just kept the difference for himself, but Steven isn't that type of person. He's honest, thorough, and hard working. We have been so impressed with his willingness to go out of his way to help his customers, and we could not be happier with the work Earthwise has done for us. read more
