Couple things, this is what I would imagine bagel shops on the east coast operates. You walk in and it's a line next to a bunch of tables cramped and it smells amazing AND you can't wait to order ALL the bagels because the flavors!!!! BUT I would suggest to get the bagels home and prepare the meal yourself. Because I forgot to ask if the huevos ranchero & cheddar has meat in it and it was loaded with ham. Tried East Coast Bagel and overall it was just okay for me. I got the jalapeño bagel, but honestly I could barely taste any jalapeño flavor. The workers were very nice and seemed to work really hard, so I definitely appreciated the service. They have a large variety of flavors and even still carry flavors that other bagel stores 'did away with' during the pandemic like: sourdough, salt, bialy.... For the bagel, I chose to get the jalapeño cheddar bagel. Usually when I get jalapeño cheddar at other places, the bagels are usually bland or lacking that spice. However, this one was cheesy and it had the spice you want from a jalapeño. Giving them a three star because although their bagels are tasty, sometimes they look like the first photo and sometimes they look like the second photo. You tell him your order, then you move down the line to pay. At this station, you repeat your order and also place your coffee order. This is also where you have a chance to grab a drink or chips. Then you walk outside and wait for your number to be called. We waited a while! Maybe 10-15 min. My toasted sesame bagel with cream cheese came out great. The bagel had good chew - as you would expect from a NY bagel. My husband's breakfast sandwich came out wrong. I would like to let you know that I have been a loyal customer for nearly 25 years. During that time, I have always appreciated your products, respected the hard work of your staff, and valued the excellent customer service you have provided--until today. I am currently undergoing cancer treatment and, as a result, I cannot eat any dairy products. A couple of weeks ago, when I visited your store, I asked whether I could bring my own non-dairy cheese for the bagels I was purchasing. I was told, "Of course." I then bought non-dairy cheese from Ralphs, which is right next door, brought it to your store, and your staff used it to prepare my bagels. I paid the regular price, and I was genuinely impressed by your kindness and willingness to accommodate my medical needs. It greatly increased my respect for your business. Today, I tried to do the same thing, but I was refused in a very rude manner. One of the owners told me that bringing outside food was not allowed. When I explained that your staff had accommodated the same request just a couple of weeks earlier, he responded that it had been "the last time" and would not be allowed anymore. I do not know how he could have known about that visit, since he was not there at the time--it was the other owner who had helped me. While I understand that businesses may change their policies, what disappointed me most was not the decision itself, but the rude and dismissive way I was treated. Unfortunately, after nearly 25 years of being a loyal customer, this experience has caused my family and me to take our business elsewhere. I just completed a hot yoga class in the morning, and I was looking for a place to grab coffee. I've always seen the place around, and after a recent trip to New York, I couldn't help but be drawn towards a place calling themselves the "East Coast Bagel." The inside seating includes about 5 groups of 3-4 people. There are also outside seating in front of the store and scattered throughout the outdoor plaza. Based on a recommendation and from what I've read on Yelp I got the Lox Garlic Bagel It was Delicious! The salmon was not too salty and the creaminess of the cream cheese richly enveloped my mouth. The capers added a nice pop too. The garlic bagel was chosen because it was a favorite pairing of one of the kind servers there, and I can see why! There always seems to be a line in the morning, yet the service is quick and they put in the effort to ensure Your order is made to your satisfaction. There are a good number of families who also dine here early in the morning. A friend of mine also got a dozen bagels for her sons' swim team. Irvine is, in general, too whitebread to do bagels. Proper East Coast deli-style bagels are in short supply in this master-planned community. Other local shops go too heavy on the lox, or the cream cheese, making a big gooey sandwich instead of the delicately balanced caper-tomato-onion-lox-cream cheese combination that is the ISO 9000 East Coast bagel. Where it counts, this place delivers. This is the only place I have found in all of Irvine that you can get an entirely correct bagel. Service was fast and curt, exactly the way an East Coast bagel should be. One point off for the condition of the shop, which has seen better days and could use a top-to-bottom remodel. read more
