They closed Feb 15. We came here Feb 13. They had a paper on a podium written about their closure. And I truly believe that they are not really made out to be a full-service restaurant as much as I like their dedication and drive. I had a reservation at 7 pm. I checked in at 6:45 pm. At 7:25 pm, they brought us in and did not have a table ready for us. They made a table then after a table left 15 minutes later, they rearranged us. I do not understand why you offer reservations if you will not actually honor the system. Around 8 pm, we asked if we could order as they had only brought water. Listen I understand. You're closing soon. You only had 1 server for the entire restaurant the weekend of Valentines. You have to go lean on the busiest last weekend ..? I don't actually understand. When all came to, they were not offering dessert because "they were saving it for Valentine's Day". No notification about when their kitchen closed and no asks if anybody wanted to order for to-go. On top of that, everyone did not have free parking and had to pay upon exit even with validation. You will do great as a ghost kitchen since the food was good and everyone enjoyed it. Cute family owned cafe/restaurant on the first floor of the business center of Irvine. Spotted this cute place as I was driving out from equinox so had this placed pinned in my mind to try one day. Well, today was that day! First off, the location is just perfect. Right in front is a huge lawn with tons of shaded seating, large pond, and beautiful fountain. Gives a very serene feel where you can sit and relax before heading back up to finish up your work day. It was around 1045 and they were serving both breakfast and lunch menu. My friend got to the restaurant a bit before me and decided to wait to order. Once I got there and sat down, it seemed like our server was no where in sight. It was weird to me because all the servers seem to be hustling in and out of the kitchen, but there were not many patrons in the restaurant. I wonder if they were doing a catering order or something else. Once our server came to take our order, I was a little disappointed that it seemed like they were out of a lot of things. I understand time of day plays into that though. Also, I went to order the Wedge Salad, and the server said they don't have that. And I pointed to the menu and showed her. She was actually very accommodating and said that they have all the ingredients and can make it anyways, but she think I may have gotten an outdated menu. This place gets packed for good reason so make sure you make a reservation if you can. First off, I'm a regular here but it's just amazing to see how much effort they put into their new menu items! Chef Morgan and the family really care about the ingredients and preparation - and it shows. Almost everything we asked about is made in house including the jams and mayonnaise. Had a beef bourguignon that was to die for (and I also had to look up how to spell just now). The crust was immaculate and the flavors were bold. Lobster salad had a wonderful texture and subtle citrus kick to it. And the bread was a big hit surprisingly with my whole table who are NOT gluten free normally and very picky eaters. Escargot. Scared me at first, but now it's a minimum of 2 orders for the table from now on. Buttery garlic goodness. We ordered extra bread to dip. To top it off the wine + atmosphere and a delectable dessert of strawberry creme brulee was so good that we ended up ordering another bottle and 2 more brûlées. My friend is Celiac so the main reason for coming here was how the entire menu was gluten free! He was very excited to try it. The Bistro is in a business complex, but is located right next to the structure so it was easy to find. There's plenty of outdoor seating, but it was windy so we opted to sit indoors. We made a reservation online which was very easy on their website via Resy. It seems it was unnecessary since it didn't seem too busy. There were people coming in and out, but never enough where you needed to wait on a table. There is free wifi available as well. The food was delicious! My friend with Celiac really enjoyed being able to eat everything without a worry. We enjoyed the breakfast crepe with hashbrowns, cup of gumbo, short rib sandwich with fries, and the biscuit trio. My favorites were the gumbo and biscuits with the jam, butter, and honey. Keep in mind the biscuits take about 20-25 minutes and our server did let us know. I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but I did order a hot strawberry macchiato and it was hot and not too sweet. My friend enjoyed his latte with oat milk. Service was great. I forgot her name, but she checked on us multiple times and was very attentive, proactive, and friendly. She got our drink orders first, asked if we had questions on the menu, and provided thoughtful service overall. I really enjoyed the ambiance. The lighting, smell, music, decor were all very charming and I love all the details with the table decor, utensils and blue linen on the blue plates, lace on the plates, the glasses for water, the cups for coffee, and the spoons with the coffee. Doing an update, because the croissants are officially gluten free, and there is no more gluten here!!! I still need to try the croissants Original review: Ooooo I love a good gluten free find!! Maldon's is 99% gluten free except for one case of croissants. I would really like to see them oust those so they can be a full GF facility but at least they are separate. The owner has celiac so I felt safe eating here. The décor is very cute, but pretty loud inside. The lunch rush was intense. They do validate parking so don't forget your parking stub. I'm glad I went early, because it was packed. The server ended up sending our order wrong and my food came out and the rest didn't come out. We finally asked after about 15-20 and they had to rush to finish. Glad we said something. Service was good until they got really crowded, this place was small so you should come when you have time. I grabbed a cupcake which was pretty good. Not the best I've had but it was good compared to many others. Came here on a Sunday for brunch. Ambiance was really nice and we loved the guitarist who was playing very chill music - perfect for the setting. Then came the neglectful service which was weird because it wasn't packed. I had ordered the chilaquiles with duck and wife ordered the cinnamon roll and coffee. My plate came out first and the duck was NASTY. Just by looking at it you can tell it was not freshly cooked. I took one bite of it and it tasted exactly how it looked - stale and dry, like it's been sitting on the countertop for a couple of days. I told the waitress and she thanked me and said that it was good to know so she can inform the kitchen. No alternative or replacement offered. I finished my chilaquiles (aside from the nasty duck) and my wife still had not received her order until 5 min after I finished my plate.
