Not the spot from outside, but more of a big Wow from inside. You may have driven by several times not noticing this hidden gem in an industrial commercial space. It has an amazing atmosphere and the food was also good. Fresh taste and a impressive menu ( all halal) and an outdoor seating area as well. The service however can be way much better. It's not like it was full or we weren't clear about the order but the staff is just not attentive. We asked for scrambled egg with bagel which is the picture in the menu, but instead we got fried egg. So asked them to change and came back after 5 minutes with exactly the same thing. Which is a little disappointing.... But we looked passed that and still tried to enjoy the food. Parking is right outside the door entrance, and we may come again, hoping that the clientele is better next time. read more

This place is a little hidden gem! We found this place walking around Tyson area. Outside, it looks pretty casual but INSIDE...oh my! this place (according to my world traveler friend) , it looks like all the turkish restaurants in turkey (perfect)! We didn't expect to be waited at our table. We were expecting to just go order , sit down and eat but whoa! The waitress was nice and quick to get our order once we sit down. Everything was fantastic. They did not have anything that is on the dessert side. They are out of all the desserts which is dissappointing! All the foods are pretty much good and hefty! My dish was $25 and my pistachio coffee was $5-6. My dish was Kofte ! The rice was soft and well seasoned and so was the meat. Meat was juicy. Perfect and filling! I've been here a few times now including at night for hookah and couple of times for brunch. The Turkish food is excellent and every time I've been it's consistent. The service is so so, but I guess you'd expect it in this place. The ambiance is okay, but gets drafty in the winter and the folks working there keep leaving the doors open. Situated near a busy street, this place gets a lot of traffic--way more than I had anticipated. To no fault of the staff, there were screaming children and people talking over each other. I was hoping for a quiet place to enjoy some tea/coffee. This is not the place haha. My mistake! But the staff was very nice, friendly, and efficient with my order. The noise level is crazy on the weekend, so maybe don't come here to work . The salep is their signature drink, and it was surprisingly not too sweet and the consistency is thick though I think they kind of overdid it with the cinnamon (but it could just be me since I'm not used to it). Definitely a nice and home-y place, given the blue walls and white window sills and farm-like (?) furniture. Edit: Was told by staff to come on a weekday when it wasn't too busy. We stopped by East West with the family for Iftar dinner and they did not disappoint. The ambiance is absolutely beautiful and their seating is comfortable and well planned to accommodate large parties. We didn't try their menu items since it was an Iftar buffet but for a total of $50 per person you had an array of appetizers, main and desserts available. Plus the tea and any drink of choice was included in the price. It was a great experience and the only reason I'm giving them 1 less star is because I haven't tried their menu items YET: I will be back for that :) The service was amazing from the time we walked in, they were fully staffed and we didn't have to wait for anyone. We were able to quickly get help every time we needed it and the staff did a great job ensuring the Iftar buffet was quickly replenish as items ran out. We visited East West Cafe as part of a group of seven (three couples and one child). To be fair, the presentation of the food was nicely done -- not luxury-level, but visually appealing and thoughtfully plated. However, beyond the presentation, the food itself was quite average in taste and execution, and unfortunately the pricing was extremely high compared to the quality and portions. Because we were a larger group and engaged in conversation, we didn't examine the bill closely at first. When we later split the check, my husband and I were genuinely shocked to see that our portion alone came to $150 for two people. As one clear example, a single skewer of Adana kebab was charged at $28, which feels completely disproportionate for a restaurant that is otherwise casual and average in flavor and experience. The overall situation left us with the uncomfortable feeling that pricing may increase when guests are dining in groups or not closely monitoring the bill. Transparency and value matter, and here they did not align. Honestly, if I were managing this restaurant and learned that two guests paid $150 for an average meal, I would feel obligated to refund part of that bill. That's how misaligned the value felt. I'm sharing this calmly and respectfully so future guests are aware: double-check menu prices and review your bill carefully before paying, especially when dining with a group. I visited this place intending to enjoy some hookah, tea, and dessert in a relaxing atmosphere. Unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. From the moment I arrived, I noticed an uncomfortable dynamic. Most of the staff appeared to be male exchange students from Türkiye, and they seemed noticeably disinterested in welcoming male guests. The attention and hospitality were overwhelmingly directed toward female patrons, creating an environment that felt unbalanced and unprofessional. As a male guest, I felt largely ignored the service was indifferent and unwelcoming. It seemed as though male customers were an afterthought, while the servers competed for the attention of female guests. At one point, a woman entered with her dog, and the staff's behavior became even more exaggerated the owner and servers rushed to provide her with excessive attention, completely disregarding the other guests. The manager, instead of maintaining professionalism, was loudly in yelling manner directing staff in a way that seemed more about impressing female customers than providing quality service. Overall, the atmosphere felt uncomfortable and inappropriate. I left feeling disrespected and disappointed. I would not recommend this place for male guests looking for a welcoming or balanced environment and per my finding the only female would go there is the ones dispirit for attention. The mezze of dips like hummus, baba ghanoush, coban salata...more are paired perfectly with warm bread and is my favourite. Lamb chops, kasap kofte, adana kebab & chicken kabob served hot offer a bit of everything protein wise. Very cute restaurant I'd say average size wise for our area. Overall, this is one of those dinners that speak to me. It's a little bit of everything but enough to be full after and goes so well with a glass of wine. After going here few more times I decided that a change was necessary for my initial review. My experiences kept getting worse and worse and honestly it's more service than anything else. Today was last time there for sure. Got there early with no one there except one table with 4 young men. Waiters was very excited when she was waiting on them. Laughing carying on but seemed miserable when she had to come to our table. Ordered a pistachio latte that had almost zero taste or signs of pistachio but when I asked her she said it's in there. Only after I finished the drink I saw 2 flaked of pistachio in it. Saw another lady sit down and wait few minutes and after she got no attention from waitresses, got up and left. Came for breakfast, was warmly greeted and welcome to sit wherever we'd like. Staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was traditional Turkish which is exactly what we wanted and enjoyed it a lot. My only complaint is the price point. $70 for breakfast of a set few items is pretty hefty. After tip we spent $80 which is a lot of breakfast I think. Other than that, it was good. Unfortunately at that price I probably won't try it again but I'd be happy to try dinner items. read more

The iced coffee was absolutely terrrible. The chicken kabobs, hummus, and the pita bread were pretty good. I would maybe come back for that but the service was absolutely terrible. It is so confusing if it is a coffee shop or a restaraunt. So I walked in and they told me to sit down and order. The wifi was not working which they helped me after 10 minutes of me asking. In addition, i was at a networking event here and it was pretty bizarre they insisted they serve us when we could have definitely just helped ourselves. It also took almost 15 minutes to get my iced coffee which was clearly just poured out from a drip coffee jug. The music was also way tooo loud at the place. I've been to the location in Clarendon, Virginia, and this location is also nice. The interior has a lovely fireplace and beautiful murals on the wall. The service is wonderful. And I even got a little Turkish language lesson. If you read the other reviews it will give you ideas on the ambiance. What I really loved was the chill music. The food was also good. The eggs were bright orange super fresh. However, the next time I go, I'll be sure to mention to the chef to not add any additional salt. I thought it was just my meal since I had smoked salmon however, my husband's meal was also overly salted as well. Happy to see that it's close to a metro stop and in walking distance to it. ( a place where restaurant meets Internet cafe vibes) They offer a special Ramadan menu for those observing. They also offer specialty mediterranean foods, American food, specialty and regular coffees, teas, and lattes, beer wine etc. Staff were very friendly. The food was AMAZING. I had the honey cinnamon latte- delicious and sweet. I also had the Greek salad with grill chicken. The salad was fresh with a delightful dressing. Found them by accident when looking for a breakfast spot in Tyson's Corner area. Located in a nondescript shopping center, next to a florist, I believe they've been open for about 2 months. Upon entrance, I could see the whole length of a warehouse-like room with plenty of seating around. There was also a lot of staff walking around; however, noone was interested in greeting me. I finally spoke to someone who told me I could sit anywhere I wanted and someone will be by with a menu. A good 10 minutes passed before I finally got up and went to get a menu myself. The same lack of service continued throughout the whole time I was there, even though the Turkish customers were well taken care of and tended to by several waiters at a time. I ordered a cappuccino and a soujouk omelette. While I was placing my order, my waitress looked distracted and as if she'd rather be helping someone else. The cappuccino was pretty good, but nothing out of this world. Same thing with the omelette. It was literally just eggs and sausage - not sure how that warrants a $14 price tag. Just for reference, I've worked with Turkish people before and have had my share of Turkish food. If I were to rate them on service alone, it would be one star or negative if possible. If they plan on providing good service to Turkish customers only, maybe they should have a sign on their door that alerts other customers to that. Since the cappuccino and the food weren't terrible, two stars will do. read more
