Mary Jill is incredibly talented and is an absolute pleasure to work with! If you're looking for alterations or costume design or just someone who knows what they're doing when it comes to clothes and fabric, you need to see Mary Jill. Mary Jill was great - she's a master seamstress and was able to help me hem my bridesmaid dress. It was a long David's Bridal dress that was different lengths at the bottom so no other tailor I went to would do it. Full disclosure I was looking for someone who wouldn't charge me an arm and leg so price was a concern for me and I communicated that I wanted a simple less expensive fix. I reached out to Mary Jill via Facebook messenger initially and ask to arrange a time. She's in South Park and super accommodating. I tried on my dress with my heels and she gave me options. If I wanted the dress to sit a certain way she had a solution. I wanted the most affordable method to achieve my goal of shortening the length and it was nice knowing my options for future alterations etc. For pricing, she charges by time in the seat for her to make the alteration. For mine it was about 2 hours for what I needed and she mentioned that typically that'd cost $40 or so. Note that she doesn't quote you up front because it depends on how long it'll take her to work on your clothes. Overall great experience and she finished it quicker than I anticipated too. Thank you! My first truly enjoyable alterations experience! Mary Jill is an exceptionally talented seamstress who is detailed oriented and can tell just by looking at a garment exactly what it needs. I brought her 2 small repairs, both requiring hand sewing. Lots of alteration places can do machine work, but someone skilled at hand sewing is rare. While we sat and chatted on her lovely patio, Mary Jill quickly repaired both garments with an expert hand. Her stitching is beautiful, almost invisible. Mary Jill is amazing and she cares so much about her clients!! She altered my wedding dress and it turned out beautiful. MJ had to take in a lot bc I bought the completely wrong dress size (even tho the dress shop measured me), and she was able to see everything back up beautifully. I had a lace dress with beading so the alterations required a lot of detail. MJ was really careful to make sure the lace didn't overlap and kept the same design on the front of the dress. The alterations took longer and cost more (due to the lace/beading) but she threw in a pair of pants alterations for free! I hired Mary Jill to help me design and create my wedding dress from scratch and it was AMAZING. She listened to my ideas, came with me to buy the right fabrics, was communicative throughout the whole process, and ended up creating my dream dress! She is the real deal and can do anything you ask her to. I was very set on having a lot of structure and support in the bodice of my dress (to help suck in the belly and lift up my larger chest size) while still having a very low cut in the front. She made it happen! She was flexible when I changed my mind on things and also explained very thoroughly why certain aspects needed the done certain ways in order to not compromise on the integrity of the design. Her attention to detail is incredible and her positive energy helped quell my anxious bridal nerves. To top this all off, she did this while I was living 2 states away! The positive energy she exuded showed not only in every detail of her work but in her willingness to collaborate with me. She was able to bring my design to life in such an amazing way. Luck would have it, I didn't need to have my wedding dress altered. I did need to have a Captain American belt made to add on to my wedding dress. She helped me change with my formal belt with the jeweled pieces. She suggested that we use ribbon to cut cost. It took me a while but I found ribbon to match my lightly colored champagne wedding dress while she searched for the colors to make my Captain America belt.
