This place should honestly be called Eat Real Slow Café. I've been here 3 to 4 times now, and every visit has been painfully slow. Slow to be greeted, slow to place an order, and very slow to get food. On my most recent visit, our waitress disappeared for so long that we had to ask another server to take our order because we were on a time crunch. When our appetizer never arrived and we asked about it after our main course came out, the waitress blamed us and said, "That's why we don't switch servers." The issue was not switching servers. The issue was not being checked on at all. If you have anywhere to be within a 2-hour window, do not eat here. Unfortunately, the food is not good enough to justify the extremely slow service, especially when accountability seems to be lacking. If you want to just get a drink/coffee and chill (what will seem like forever), this place is for you. read more

I've come here twice in one week because of how delicious their food is. Each time I've ordered the same thing - butterscotch scones and the chipotle breakfast burrito. I don't know why I gravitate to those two so much. But it satisfies those pregnancy cravings. Haha! But I can't say enough good things. Because I truly enjoy it each time. We were seated at a 4 person table and given several large menus featuring numerous drinking options and meals with fresh ingredients. The meal options didn't particularly catch my eye, but that may be due to the prices being on the higher side. For example, a breakast burrito was around $18. And the mimosa was $40, unless you got bottomless which was around $25. While the food was mostly enjoyable, what really stood out was the juice I ordered- flavorful and fresh. The "cleanse and be happy" had a great balance between the fruits and spices of cayenne, turmeric, and ginger. I could see myself coming back for a juice or lemonade, but food is something I'd get elsewhere. Too much garlic in my hashbrown and our party felt like several items needed more salt (but i guess we need to be more minful of our salt intake). If you're interested in juices, teas, or coffee/matcha; I recommend trying this place out. More than likely an enjoyable beverage with a pleasant setting. I love coming to Eat Real on Main to work. The ambience and vibe is calm and the service I always upbeat and helpful. The food is good, but I prefer a bit more fat in my food (I know I should enjoy the healthier takes on food), but the quality of the food is great and I never leave feeling heavy. The buffalo chicken griller is my favorite! But my favorite thing is their hot Star drink. It is unique, not too sweet and an awesome pick me up without it being coffee. I haven't found it anywhere! Perhaps it's a hot take, but I don't believe this spot deserves five stars. The portions for the prices don't make sense to me. The aesthetic is gorgeous, but my stomach and wallet were in disagreement (aka I left hungry). To put it nicely, the service isn't the most speedy when you choose to dine in, and they don't exactly make you feel welcome to stay. A few folks made comments about the takeaway orders being prioritized and my experience matches. Additionally, I agree that it's a bit misleading to be a "cafe" when the atmosphere isn't very cafe like. For the positives, the food is delicious, fresh, and healthy (all looks beautiful too!). Lavender honey Latte was creamy & foamy and very smooth. The Orange Espresso Elixer used organic espresso ,vanilla, club soda & organic orange juice Today my main dish is cheesy eggs which were organic. It was on top of crispy cheese and it is really crispy & crunchy. BUTTTTT there was no sausage on my dish as described on the menu. Instead it had hash brown. First time we went was great and the hostess and our server were fantastic! However, the last few times were horrible. Love the food each time we have gone though. This last time we went, the male host was so rude. Once we were seated, we waited for someone to take our drinks and no one came. Even the table next to us with filled with dirty dishes that have been sitting forever. 20 mins pass by and still no one came to take our orders, not even to offer water. We got tired of waiting after 30 mins so we left to get food at the Old Town Junction instead which had excellent service and an amazing atmosphere. They had us seated immediately and were so kind! A huge difference from the poor and rude service at Eat Real. The gods have answered me and created an upscale, upbeat, uplifting patch of mixed use village in Newhall, just a few minutes drive for me. Eat Real is one of the serendipitous spots that opened with, apparently, people like me in mind, i.e., non-meat loving, fresh food, elegant ambiance digs with a smiling-folks surround. The menu (look at it and rejoice) is eclectic and enlightened. The philosophy of the owners matches mine for the most part and the decor reflects a knowing sensibility that eaters-out should be bathed in subtle warmth and sparkle. Look at the creamery-inspired colors: saffron, mustard, whipped butter and almond, from the paint to the table tops to the flooring. There is a welcome industrial vibe with high ceilings and giant windows that keeps things from being smarmy. Add in the trees throughout and the glassware and you have my idea of the perfect place: simple, elegant, orderly, beautiful, and indulgent with a conscience. The only drawbacks the day we ventured over to OTN (Old Town Newhall -- my latest obsession) was a vigorous rain and the fact that ERC had an event that afternoon that attenuated the dining space for anyone without a reservation (only available for parties of six or more, unfortunately). We had to wait an hour, for which our hostess apologized repeatedly. Some of that time we stood under a nearby awning -- not ideal but do-able -- that is how much I wanted to try this place! Everything was very good. I love the choices of bread and had my grilled cheese and pesto on ciabatta -- joy. The salad on the side was so fresh and delicious that we bought a bottle of the dressing to take home. Our lattes were exceptional and Jacob, our server, was efficient, friendly and professional -- a true asset. We will definitely go back as we had lunch this time but breakfast and dinner are also available (all day, as it turns out!). Parking was free in the huge structure that accompanies the Newhall Crossing complex. When we visit next time, we will walk around and see IRL all the new businesses -- many of them brew pubs with food offerings -- that have sprouted like organic mushrooms in OTN. Yay! read more

I tend to get the Vegan Breakfast Burrito, but decided to try something new: Turmeric Chicken Stir-fry. The chicken is super tender, with a medley of stir-fried vegetables (mushrooms, bell peppers, sprouts and broccolini.) The seasoning on the vegetables is delicious and is complimented by a side of brown rice. My tip - add a side of their hot sauce to the dish to add a nice kick. read more

Eat Real Cafe is truly gorgeous! As soon as you walk in you're greeted by a bright, modern ambiance akin to something you'd find on the Westside. However, with such a trendy vibe comes large crowds, and unfortunately my visit was greatly overshadowed by slow service due to how busy they were (around 1:00pm on a Thursday). I came in to grab a drink at their cafe (in addition to traditional dine-in visitors, you're able to order coffee's and pastries to-go at their front counter), but at the time of my visit it seemed that cafe orders were not being prioritized. It took a while to even get my order placed (when there was no one else in line) let alone receive my drink. That being said, as mentioned above, the ambiance is very cute, and I at least got to check out their little wine shop while I waited. I ordered the iced pumpkin latte off of their fall-themed menu and I unfortunately thought it was sickeningly sweet, so not necessarily worth the super long wait. I'll have to come back and dine-in next time to see if the experience improves! I've heard great things about their vegan breakfast burrito, so I have hope for the food they offer. I really loved the aesthetic of this place! Everything is a neutral beige and white, so it has a really clean look to it. We were staying nearby, and this place was within walking distance, so we decided to give it a try. The four of us got there a few minutes before opening on a Saturday morning, so we got a seat really quick. As time went on, it started to fill up a bit more. Really nice look, and they have a little nook of wines and teas that they sell. For drinks, 2 people got coffees, my sister got the lavender lemonade, and I got the tropical smoothie. The lemonade was pretty good, and I really liked the smoothie. This place is pretty healthy, so it definitely wasn't a super sweet smoothie, but the orange juice in it helped balance it. There was also coconut meat blended into it, which you would get little mouthfuls of, I loved it. Everyone at the table loved their food (cheesy eggs, french toast, and OG breakfast). I got the coconut parfait because I was having some nausea issues the past few days. The coconut yogurt I think was good for my stomach because it wasn't dairy, but the agave they add to sweeten it up is only on the top, so I had to work to get any sweetness down to the bottom. It was ok. The service was great! We were greeted by a very nice hostess who sat us, and our waitress was Keely. She was friendly and pretty quick. If looking for something on the healthy side that is still pretty tasty, this is a good place. Anxiety induced questions I had before arriving that may help you: 1. Can I make a reservation - No, but you can order online to go. 2. Will it be packed on a Saturday morning - It wasn't too bad. I wanted to love this place so bad. It situated in a cute little cafe style setup. We sat outside on a beautiful night, and ordered a couple things. Some worked, some not so much. First let me say our server was awesome, she sold the food by describing it in such a way that our expectations were super high... only to find they didn't meet it. We had nachos that were good, they got soggy really quickly though. They were loaded and there was so much stuff on it that the chips on the bottom really got wet and fell apart. Thankfully they still tasted good. There was a meatball dish that was okay, it's basically supposed to be one big meatball or so we thought, but it was actually smaller shredded ones with a side of sourdough breads. I order turmeric chicken stir fry and it was horrible. First there was way too much cut up peppers and not enough stir fry veggies. I thought it would have different veggies but it had strong tasting broccoli I with long stalks and a bunch of peppers. I didn't like it, so I didn't eat it, and I wasn't going to ask it to be comped, but my server saw it untouched and took it off on her own and I gave her proposal for that because she was gracious enough to do that without me complaining. I wish there were more restaurants like Eat Real Cafe! Since I have been traveling for work for several months, I have been craving fresh and natural takeout food. Eat Real provides exactly what I need. I have had the pleasure of trying the breakfast scramble, the turmeric tempeh stir fry, the thai salad, the smoothies, and a couple of sandwiches. All dishes I find leave me feeling satisfied but NOT bloated and tired as other restaurant food often does. I particularly love the turmeric stir fry and the smoothies. While this is a chain, I find that this location in downtown Newhall is particularly special. Because of the downtown location, they have longer hours than other Eat Real locations and I believe they have a more expansive menu. They have a small, plant-filled outdoor seating area adjacent to the downtown's sidewalk that is quiet but also immersive. read more

I brought my wife and thought she would enjoy the Resturant she found it a good option for to take friends We went on a Monday only to find that we could not get the meals we wanted they ran out of the Black Sourdough and the focaccia leaving Dave killer bread which I am not a fan of. We understand running out of product but two out of three breads is not a good thing. We were told the breads were made locally so perhaps making an order when you are running low would be a priority. With our luck they were making a lot of blended drinks so the loud sounds were not good for conversation. Overall I will be back Service was good. I just not a fan of salad for lunch at least not spring mix. So I have learned to call in advance to find out about breads. This place is in a very nice area of Newhall and love to stroll around this place. Wait times are always going to be more than 10+ minutes which is okay! The food is not as spectacular for its prices (very overpriced!) but they have plenty of vegan options and their early grey was very delicious and I love the way they served it. I would come here again but just for a quick chat or meet up with a friend. Not really a studying type of place even if it's labeled as a cafe! One of my girl friends was visiting town so we met up and I brought her to one of the new cafes in downtown newhall. It was a nice afternoon around 3pm, no one really inside so it wasn't too loud and we sat over in what I like to call the comfy corner. The bench seat is like a couch with pillows for comfort and the stand alone seats have some cushion to them. We got seated right away and our server came by relatively quick to take our drinks and food order. She was super friendly and really attentive during our visit. We both ordered one of the speciality lattes, I got the rose and she got the lavender iced. I haven't tried any food besides the pastries from here and since I brought my appetite we both got a sandwich. I got the veggie sandwich on gf bread and it came with a side salad, she got the chicken buffalo one. The food didn't take long to come out, had good flavors too it though mine was a bit messy as anything with avocado usually is. The rose latte was very floral, but once you got past it.. it was actually really good. The food is a bit pricy though, but most healthy food places are. It was around $50 for two people with the sandwiches and an up charge on it being gf bread, and then the speciality lattes. Wonderful new restaurant on Main Street in Newhall. Grabbed a quick bite here for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. Parking was easy (on the street and in the parking structure). Seating was ample (indoor and outdoor). The dining room was bright and airy with light wood furniture and cute decorative accents. The feel was social, relaxing and happy. The menu had a good selection of organic healthy eats. We ordered the Vegan Wrap and a sandwich. Our food arrived quickly, was nicely plated and in good portion. Both were lite and delicious!
