We pulled in at 5:05 & I was a little nervous because it was totally empty. Our friendly waitress brought out pieces of toast with a sun-dried tomatoes spread that was yummy. I ordered the Mexican corn soup with a salad and my husband ordered the ham panini that he said was very good. I loved my meal I just felt it was a little expensive for the amount of food you get. I ate here with my mom; she got a salad and I got a sandwich and split a dessert and the bill was $40. I don't know about the size of the regular sandwiches but my gluten free was TINY! It came with a decent sized side salad. They bring crostini and spread before you get your food and they gave me gluten free crackers instead of crostini. I also had a delicious dry soda. The sandwich I had was the turkey with chipotle cream 10/10 would eat again. You have a choice of chips or salad with your sandwich. Now let's talk about dessert. We split the flourless torte with raspberry sauce and omg was it good. It was dense and fudgy and it melted in my mouth. I was pretty excited about this place after reading the reviews, but I have to say this cafe was a fail for me. Decor - nothing special, chairs were very uncomfortable, no cushions, hard wood chairs, my butt hurt after a while. Instead of putting windows on the entrance side, they put a wall up and blocked all the sunlight. I thought that was really odd. Service - 2 waiters, 1 waitress, 2 cooks to serve 8 tables ( total 10 tables in the little cafe). Only my husband and I, also another couple ordered food at the same time (others were already eating), and yet took them 30 min to prepare sandwiches. The staff looked like they wanted to hang themselves (especially the waitress). My husband got ice tea refill, he just wanted the regular one, the waiter repeated his request and some how he still got it wrong. Food - Nothing special. Panini was a bit dry and hard to chew. They have acceptable prices and slam dunk food, particularly the sandwiches and soups and salads, so basically the whole menu. Great spot located very close (abt 10 mins) from East Beach. They serve paninis, sandwiches, soups, and salad. The paninis are authentic! They remind me of the same flavors in Italy. Everything is fresh and light. I love the bread. They offers great menu! This place was a very unexpected find/surprise in Galveston. We walked in and felt like we were instead in the usual hipster Chicago areas but we were kind of looking for that healthy lunch option and this hit the spot. The menu is unique and has plenty of options. We had some small cups of soup that were just the right size, came with really great bread/crustini, and then a couple salads that were the special for the day. We loved it all. We are vegans. The food was absolutely delicious. There are a few vegan substitutions you can do on the sandwiches. They were both awesome. Both soups of the day (Tomato Fennel and Sweet Potato) were vegan and delicious. The staff was very knowledgable and warm. The building is an old building.....it has modern remodeling that keeps the integrity of the original structure. It's just beautiful. It's calm and warm and comforting and clean and modern all at once. And the food was probably one of the best vegan meals I've ever had out. I work a few blocks from Eat Cetera and I like to have lunch here a lot! The space itself has a few tables and seating at the bar. This place gets packed very quickly during lunch hours and the wait staff can be a bit slow during that time but each waitress is very polite and kind. Their set menu offers a variety of paninis and salads. This is one of the few places on the island that offers a good amount of vegetarian options. Eat Cetera does weekly specials for a panini, two salads and a dessert (separately.) Some are repeat specials while some are brand new offerings with a refreshing twist that are almost always pleasing. Some of the items that have stood out to me were: African Peanut soup was a little too thick and sweet for my taste. The little bread they gave me with this soup felt like I was eating a plan peanut butter sandwich. I would have preferred a bit more spice. Seared Ahi Tuna salad was amazing! The tuna practically melted in your mouth and the dressing they brought with the salad complimented it so well. I wanted to take the recipe for the dressing home! Green Tea Soba Noodle salad is my absolute favorite. The green tea soba noodles are very refreshing and go very well with the peppery arugula they serve it over. I use my knife to cut the noodles and carrots into smaller bits so it's easier to eat in the bowl that it's served in. It's one of those salads that looks smaller than what it is. Heart of Palms panini was my least favorite. If you're a big fan of heart of palms then this would be your weekly special. The palms overwhelmed the sandwich and that's all I could taste. My coworker would almost always get the smoked salmon salad as her favorite, while my other coworker tries the different paninis. As a tip, she asks to substitute half of her sandwich for a cup soup, so she can try the soup of the day with a panini and the side salad it comes with. Walked in as a party of 4 and went to sit at the only open table. The waitress/hostess told us that she was expecting another party to come in but we could sit anyways. Why would you hold seating when your establishment only sits 20 to begin with?? She then proceeded to ignore us... didn't bring us any menus or tell us that she would be right with us. Ate here for a lunch date with my guy today and realized that I have never written a review! I live for the complimentary bread and spread every time. Sometimes it's bleu cheese and sometimes it's sun dried tomato but either way it's delicious. With my soup, salad, sandwich combo ($10) I had the Mexican corn soup today and it was a good balance of fresh vegetables and broth. I also had the flatbread special of the day which was delicately balanced with kalamata olives, feta cheese, red onions, a green I can't remember. It was tasty and the first time I've ever had it. Have been here twice and had bad experiences both times. The food is overpriced and average. The owner of the establishment was very unfriendly both times for literally no reason. I don't need or expect fake smiles or conversation but at least be professional/polite to your customers. Didn't receive the appetizers like everyone else. Not sure if this was bc of my ethnicity but that was how I left this place feeling. I never write reviews but had share my negative experience. You never know what other people are going through but you should try to treat everyone with some sort of respect to at least not make their day worse. The waitress came by and took our order we ordered gluten free for our daughter who is gluten sensitive and as we waited the staff sent out a free appetizer with a special appetizer which was gluten free. A bit different than most eateries in Galveston, but in a good way. Everything seems fresher, and healthier, and yeah maybe just a little bit hipster but I can forgive that for really good food. I recommend the Cuban sandwich, the Angus roast beef with bleu cheese, and they do amazing things with smoked salmon, no matter what it's in. And given the quality of ingredients and the fact that everything is made to order, the prices really aren't bad.
