Why 5 stars? Because this might be my new favorite restaurant in Galveston. --- --- --- We had been in Galveston for a couple of days, and while we had some solid meals, we were feeling kind of gross and overstuffed. Fish Company Taco proved to be like finding water in the desert. A lot of Galveston eateries are very similar, in that there's an ample amount of fried seafood on the menu, which is not exactly what you're looking for when you're in the bloated, but wanting to eat *something* state that we were in. My thought was: fish tacos are relatively light and we can walk there from our hotel - how do you beat that? What I didn't realize is that this place probably belongs more in the Heights than Galveston. And I mean that in a good way. The menu is very hipster-coded. And the food matches with hipster quality. It's hard to say what my favorite item even was. The one thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the fish dip - it was just okay. Everything else ranged from good to great. We tried... The burger: FYI, it's more like a double stacked slider than a burger, but delicious. 3 Tacos: Dirty South, Empire and Korean Flavors. I really liked the empire and the korean flavors, but thought the dirty south had a little too much going on with the pimento cheese and chips. Sticky Shrimp: I don't even know how to describe this, but it was delicious. I thought it as more like bang bang shrimp, but it was more fried that I expected. But not hardcore fried - they almost had the airy texture of fried pork skins, but were much tastier. Chili marinated Cucumbers and corn ribs: Simple, refreshing and addicting. But I liked the cucumbers a bit more. They also had some fresh juices and we enjoyed both the mango and the coconut lime concoctions. An easy 5-stars for me and a place I will definitely recommend to anyone visiting Galveston. read more

We had a perfect happy hour sort of late lunch at Fish Company Taco. For me: six oysters on the half shell, the daily crudo, and a Captain Johnny's shrimp taco washed down with a generously poured Chardonnay. For Dan: a dozen oysters on the half shell dressed to the nines - the man uses every add on available. Had I not paced myself, I would have been through with my six before he even started! He also had the crudo and he helped me with the crispy delicious fries that accompany Captain Johnny's shrimp taco. His drink of choice was a Red Stripe. Y'all it was so, so good. The oysters were perfect in size and flavor, the crudo had a punchy Asian sauce with sesame seeds, and the oddly delightful shrimp taco and fries knocked it out of the park. My advice, go and prepare to be sated (autocorrect wanted this to be dated!) and pleased! read more

I couldn't wait to try out this spot on our day trip to Galveston. We went for a late lunch around 2:30 on one of the first 'in season' Saturdays. There were 2-3 parking spots in front of the restaurant but ample street parking near by. The place is very cute but with how good everything was they deserve a bigger place! We waited in a line at 2:30 pm to order. We definitely missed out- they have an epic happy hour from 2-6 that everyone else was partaking in but with the chaos and crowd of the line we didn't pick up that menu. I'm hoping they pick up more staff as the summer goes on as the poor cashier was also bussing tables. Even so, everyone was friendly and trying their best. Amazing experience at Fish Company Taco! My husband and I finally made it in for lunch! we'd been meaning to visit ever since we heard that Pier 6 (one of our all‑time favorites) had opened this spot. The menu is small, but everything we tried was incredible. We started with the crudo: fresh fish with an amazing salsa macha oil. Absolutely delicious. Then came the fish dip with saltines: smoky, creamy, the perfect appetizer. My husband ordered the Vietnamese taco, and wow... to die for: Fresh, crunchy, salty, sweet, spicy, every bite was a hit. We also tried the Captain Johnny taco with curly fries. The fries were great, and the taco was pretty good too. Of course, we had to get the Hot Blooded Oysters, a must! cheesy, buttery, and spicy. Even though we were already getting full, we pushed on and ordered two more tacos: the Dirty South taco (very interesting and pretty good) and the Korean taco...OMG! there's just something about Mexican and Asian flavors together! this one was another home runnn The place is cozy, the service is quick, and we left completely satisfied. 100% recommended. Cmon...get a water bag to hang over entrance to front door like they do in Cancun....or a fly zapper, or fly sticky paper something. Ordered a frose while waiting , delish Ordered 1 each of every taco they have, which is 6. I loved all of them except the dirty south. I like pimento cheese but, didn't like theirs enough. We came back to try this place after it had closed with its original owner in 2023, hoping for a delightful experience. While the remodel is nice and the is AC is working, the portion sizes was horrible. These tacos are no longer worth the cost- they are more like tapas or appetizers. Flavors are more subdued as well. Any time I'm in Galveston I make sure to make a stop at Fish Taco Co. They are located a couple of blocks from the seawall and can usually find nearby parking. They are a cute cafe size spot with some outdoor dog friendly seating and a few tables and bar seating inside. You order at the register and get a number and find a seat. They offer happy hour daily so make sure to check them out. Their agua frescas are really good and refreshing. They offer several flavor and taco options that would sure to please the group. You gotta try the Baja fish tacos fried/grilled. It's probably one of my favorites along with the Captain Johnnys fried shrimp taco that comes with curly fries! read more

Our favorite spot that we went on our trip to Galveston. We were sad we waited until our last day to try it or else we would've gone multiple times. Everything we had there was fresh, delicious and some of the best fish tacos I've had anywhere. Happy hour is one of the best I've seen anywhere. The Frozen Rose cocktail with tajin was the best frozen drink I've ever had, and cheap!! The man working the counter was friendly and knowledgeable, we listened to his recommendations and were not disappointed. Sad that I can't bring this place back home with me. It tasted good on the taco. Shrimp batter was nice not too thick like another person mentioned. Empire taco with shrimp was my husbands favorite. Baja with shrimp or fish are very good. Light and tasty. The tortilla did not hold up on this one though. Need to double it up or make thicker. The white tortillas were fine. Onion rings were lightly battered and crispy but way too oily for me. Happy Hour Vietnamese wings were tasty but messy. I put two napkins on as a bib and still got 2 dots of sauce on my white shirt. My friend recommended this place to me, and I'm glad I decided to check it out. They have happy hour until 6 p.m., so we were in luck when we came for lunch! Their happy hour menu includes $4 tacos and $6 food items, as well as drink specials, including $3 beers, $5 cocktails, half-off wine by the bottle/glass, and $1 frescas. You order at the front, and then they will bring the order out to you. We decided to try one of each taco, as well as the Vietnamese wings, weekly crudo special (which happened to be salmon), burger, and the hot-blooded oysters from their happy hour menu. Our favorite tacos were the baja and shrimp tacos, but all of the tacos had great flavors with a unique twist. The Vietnamese wings were also very tasty with a lot of flavor, and the hot-blooded oysters. I wasn't a huge fan of the salmon crudo, which needed more flavor overall. The cocktails were also tasty, and at $5, what a steal! My favorites were the lime in the coconut and the pineapple verde with the 21 seed cucumber jalapeno tequila. I'm deducting one star since there were several flies in the restaurant and around us while we were trying to enjoy our meal. Also, the girl working the front was rude and seemed annoyed at the questions I was asking regarding their menu, so service wasn't the best here. I was lucky to come in during happy hour and tacos were $4, oysters were greatly priced, and Frescas are a $1. I had the Korean taco, the Vietnamese taco, and Baja taco and they were all delicious! This is not your ordinary taco place! Who has caviar on their oysters? Unique, delicious, small dining area and available for take out. All seafood Gulf sourced. Only seven tables inside, some bar seating and two tops, also outdoor seating. I really wanted to try the grits and oysters but it's a large portion and Husband doesn't like grits. We've had the Baja taco with fried abaco jack fish and the fried shrimp Vietnamese taco, cole slaw, cilantro and bean sprouts. Update February 2025. They have remodeled and much more spacious and inviting. Red snapper was the fish of the day. Served in a light tempura batter. Fish taco used to be one of my favorite restaurants on the island. The restaurant is open Thursday through Sunday and features a fresh catch of the day in the tacos until they run out for the day. There are several ways you can have your taco done- Vietnamese style, Korean style, Hunan style, etc. I had stopped going for a while because their tacos kept shrinking in size, however, while that has not really changed, I recently revisited and was still blown away by their taco flavors and the freshness of the fish. They also did a complete renovation of their interior space which now offers a clean and ecelectic dining experience. You really can't go wrong with any taco that you choose here. The viet style is my personal favorite. The freshness of the seafood cannot be beat, although some pieces of fish could use a tad bit more seasoning. While I probably won't be visiting as much due to the steepness of prices, I think the food really does live up to the price tag. This hidden gem is hopefully becoming not so hidden anymore! I visited before they closed down and was so excited when I heard they were back! The vision of this restaurant is using fresh, locally caught fish and making delicious fish tacos. They have a shrimp option too, but I am unsure if the shrimp are fresh catch too. The chef uses flavors from other cuisines in the tacos, creating a variety of flavors. I ordered the Baja and Korean fish tacos. The Baja has coleslaw and carrots with a green sauce to add on. The Korean inspired taco has a gochujang type sauce that was slightly spicy and tasty. All tacos are freshly made to order. The tortillas seemed to differ based on the order, in case that is something you care about. We came about an hour before closing and were the one of two parties there. Service was quick and friendly. They also have a happy hour with $4 tacos and many $6 bites and cocktails. I am looking forward to checking it out as the typical $7 per taco price tag is kinda steep. The place is also newly renovated with a modern, cutesy shop aesthetic. If you've been there before, you'll be glad to know that the AC is working very well now. The Korean one was probably my favorite. I'm not sure if this is the usual, but the chips in my Dirty South were a bit stale. Stopped by Fish Company Taco for the first time on a Tuesday for their happy hour. Apparently they recently renovated, and their interior was gorgeous. I was amazed by how many options were on this HH menu and how cheap everything was. I opted for a $5 cocktail, the signature fresca called the Cactus Flower (per their menu: "cactus flower, lemonade, playful prickly pear, and dragonfruit blended with fresh citrus"). For the frescas, you can customize the alcohol to be put in your drink, and per the bartender's recommendation, I paired it with run. My friends ordered the Mango Tango signature fresca (per their menu: "passionfruit, mango, lemonade, bright tropical explosion of ripe mango, fresh citrus, and exotic passion fruit") paired with Tamarind Smirnoff. Both drinks were absolutely delicious - packing a punch and being deliciously refreshing, FOR ONLY $5 EACH! This is the cheapest happy hour drink special I've ever encountered. While seafood tacos generally aren't my cup of tea, I'm so glad I tried this place out for their drink specials. 10/10 recommend it for the affordability and cost. read more

I always go to get their oysters which are fresh and large; I can never decide between raw or hot blooded oysters. The other items on the happy hour menu are great: some of my favorites are the Vietnamese wings, burger, and rotating weekly Crudo special. Their frescas are only a dollar and all very flavorful and unique! It is my favorite place to bring friends and family who visit Galveston. I love the new interior, which is very trendy. I was so excited to eat here! Specifically because they had Baja tacos! Love California Baja tacos and was excited to find a place that them. Well that didn't happen. We ordered take out because the five in was full. Left the restaurant to find that our Baja tacos was in fact the Vietnamese tacos. Which was a bummer. The size of the tacos are ridiculous. The kids for their drink cups are bugger than the tacos. And for $7 a piece is just robbery. The WORST , WORSTTTTT PART, is the Vietnamese wings. The sauce coating it was BURNT!!!! It was so bitter from the burnt sauce! It was inedible. We just had a pretty bad experience from here and won't ever be back. The service didn't help either. My adoration and love for Fish Company Taco runs deep. Like the Gulf of Mexico! It is so exciting to see the new interior and the new front (that is a big winner). The food is very similar to the original owner (although I think the tortillas are not as good and thicker). The spicy oysters and oysters are a great addition. Can you fry some for tacos instead of fish or shrimp. I am so curious about that. Sometimes for days I have these tacos in my head and can't stop thinking about them until I go.
