Wow...such a special find. The food, service are amazing. I had mole enchiladas and was very pleased. Service was fast and always with a smile. The only negative was the AC. They have a long AC duct running down the middle of the dinning room. If you sit at a table under it you're freezing and it will make your food cold. I moved my table away from it as it was too cold to sit under. I witnessed two different groups of ladies try to find a table away from the cold air and not being able to find one both groups left. I would recommend management address this issue so they can utilize the entire dinning area. I will definitely return for the great food and service. Btw the restrooms are very clean and nice...which is always a plus. read more

Also, they came quickly to take our order brought it quickly and checked to see if we needed anything in between the ambience was nice. It was Christmasy. They had a Santa Claus and a Christmas tree. I have been eating Tex-Mex food before we knew it was Tex-Mex food and Aceituno's on Broadway in Galveston is as good as I have ever eaten at a reasonable price. The staff is very friendly, the restaurant is very clean and nicely decorated with a great view of the Moody Mansion. It is a great place to eat and watch the exotic motorcycles and cars on Broadway. read more

Gotta try this new hot spot! There's a parking lot but the restaurant was very busy so it was packed. Thankfully there's also street parking available. The restaurant was completely full so our service was lacking, but it was busy and I'm sure they're short staffed. Our chips didn't get refilled and it took over 45 minutes to get our lunch. Now to the food! We got the lunch combos to try a little bit of everything and we're so glad we did because it was delicious! The shredded chicken is so delicious & seasoned to perfection. The tacos weren't drenched in juice so they stay assembled while you eat them. I highly recommend the lunch combo!!! Our rice & beans were not hot (rice was hard) but again, they were super busy during lunch and short staffed. The enchiladas were tasty! I liked that they didn't put a bunch of the sauce on the plate and make a mess. It was just the enchilada. The tortillas were fantastic!!! Soooo soft and tasty. Wow! Our first visit here - and we'll be back! WONDERFUL fresh, hot well prepared Mexican food. We were here for lunch and had the #1 Combo (crispy beef taco, chicken chalupa, and one cheese & onion enchilada and the three-enchiladas plate (one of each: beef, cheese, chicken). We ordered two of their huge homemade piping hot flour tortillas and also requested their screaming hot but tasty salsa verde. Their red house salsa is also very good. Excellent refried beans and light fluffy Mexican rice. Very decently priced - generous serving sizes and friendly polite service. A 10/10! read more

We walked in and weren't greeted but isn't a big deal to me but we didn't know if we had to seat ourselves or we if we had to wait for someone since we are not local. Food was tasty and server was nice. My mom ordered the Edna special and I ordered the chilaquiles. Husband ordered the barbacoa plate. My biggest critic is that the food portions are disappointing. For example- chilaquiles should take up the majority portion of the plate but it was served as a side, the same with the barbacoa. My daughter had the kids breakfast and the scrambled eggs were so small, she was left wanting more food. Again, food wasn't too bad. I'd give it a 6/10 but the portions were small and did not make the plate itself, therefore we left pretty hungry still. We've eaten at a lot of Mexican places, but never where they give you the main dish as a side. Other than that, service was good, just need to work on their portions to match their prices. read more

I've been looking for a burrito replacement (since mi Abuelitas closed) and this was pretty close to it! Loved their island burrito, yummy tortilla & everything inside had a great flavor! Been waiting to try this place out, we like to give new restaurants a few months to get everything running smooth and consistent. We went on a Friday at noon and there was no wait. Server greeted us promptly and let us pick our table, took our drink order and returned withing a minute with our cokes. We order the enchiladas suizas and the chile rellano. Both dishes were served very hot from the kitchen. The rellano was excellent, great flavor, and not greasy, my husband enjoyed his enchiladas. Chips and salsa were delicious as well and the chips are a little thicker than I normally like but these I really enjoyed. Our bill was $33 with a 20% tip. We will be returning in the future. read more

Wow! Lots of food on a platter for $9! And delicious with fresh flour tortillas. I had the Huevos Rancheros and Husband had the Migas. My eggs were cooked over medium perfectly, the potatoes were crispy as was the bacon and the refried beans had great flavor. Nice garnishes of fruit and queso Blanca. We'll go back! Very clean and bright inside. They've added mimosas! Food just as good on our third visit. read more

Came to celebrate the New Years on the island and told ourselves we wanted to stick to local businesses only to support. Our Air BnB was half a mile from this spot so we decided to check it out. It's a small cozy spot so you get spotted immediately when you walk in, it still took us a while to get greeted and get menus. Then our drink order was finally taken and some time had passed before our food order was placed. We entered the establishment at 11:13am, we left at 12:11pm and never received our meals. When we walked to the counter to pay for our drinks and told them we weren't waiting any longer, the server had the audacity to say that the "order was placed at 11:30 and it had only been 25 minutes" ummmm basic math is a 41 minute wait for breakfast. And that is unacceptable, also wasn't counting the time we waited to place our order! After wasting an hour and never getting our food my husband and I paid for our orange juice and left. We ended up at the Sunflower bakery and cafe and everything from the service to food was amazing. read more

Heard of Aceitunos from another source, I thought I'd better stop in. Much to my delight this family run restaurant is killer good. 4 stars (no beer, ugh). Key takeaways, food is fresh, served hot not plate hot but actually hot. How refreshing! Service is great, food on point, Selena on the video screen. Doesn't get any better! We were staying in a hotel about a mile away and saw this place on yelp. We took the walk over and we're glad we did. Excellent wait staff and food. We ate the Barbacoa plate and barbacoa burrito. They didn't have a similar substitute to offer, and since that guest doesn't eat eggs (which are included in nearly every breakfast item), there really wasn't anything else on the menu they could order. The menu is fairly limited overall. On the positive side, the prices are reasonable, it never seems overly crowded, and the food is decent. It just wasn't memorable enough to make me want to go out of my way to return.

Fish Company Taco proved to be like finding water in the desert. My thought was: fish tacos are relatively light and we can walk there from our hotel - how do you beat that? What I didn't realize is that this place probably belongs more in the Heights than Galveston. And I mean that in a good way. The menu is very hipster-coded. And the food matches with hipster quality. It's hard to say what my favorite item even was. The one thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the fish dip - it was just okay. Everything else ranged from good to great. We tried... The burger: FYI, it's more like a double stacked slider than a burger, but delicious. 3 Tacos: Dirty South, Empire and Korean Flavors. I really liked the empire and the korean flavors, but thought the dirty south had a little too much going on with the pimento cheese and chips. Sticky Shrimp: I don't even know how to describe this, but it was delicious. I thought it as more like bang bang shrimp, but it was more fried that I expected. But not hardcore fried - they almost had the airy texture of fried pork skins, but were much tastier. Chili marinated Cucumbers and corn ribs: Simple, refreshing and addicting. But I liked the cucumbers a bit more. They also had some fresh juices and we enjoyed both the mango and the coconut lime concoctions. An easy 5-stars for me and a place I will definitely recommend to anyone visiting Galveston.

But GBC served the kind of bagels we were still thinking about the next day. I think it was the softness that really separated them. Said softness was easier to detect from the snickerdoodle bagels we ordered with strawberry and honey butter cream cheese. Both were no doubt 5-stars. But for my "main course" was the Pelican Island, which was a hodgepodge of deliciousness all crammed betwixt two blueberry bagels. I really enjoyed it, but if I returned for a second visit, I would order something else only because there were like ten other things I wanted to try. By the way, I also enjoyed stealing a few bites of my wife's ham, egg and cheese bagel. Earlier I said "if I returned for a second visit", and I'd like to correct the record. They were filled with meat, eggs, fresh vegetables, and flavorful condiments. The bagels were hot, soft, and incredibly fresh, with every bite tasting better than the last. My only regret is not ordering another breakfast bagel to take on the road. The shop offers a few indoor seats along with outdoor seating, which is a nice option if the weather is good. On the day we visited it was raining and gloomy and the patio was still full. The only downside to our visit was the rude male employee at the front counter. Thankfully, the female cashier who helped us was sweet, welcoming, and friendly, which helped make the overall experience a great one. I would absolutely recommend Galveston Bagel Company again and again. It's definitely worth the stop if you're in Galveston! ---- They also have a coffee shop in the inside of the bagel shop you should give a try I give them five stars across the board.
