Amazing sushi for good value when you want something a bit more budget friendly but good quality. This is our go to spot when we're craving good sushi without breaking the bank. You order from a sheet and sometimes I'm tricked into thinking it's AYCE and order a bit too much than i should've. All the nigiri's are great and I'm so impressed with the tuna here especially! The wait gets kinda long during peak hours and i wish they let you join the waitlist from your phone but the longest we've had to wait was 45 min. read more

My family and I LOVE Eat's Sushi and its sister restaurant. The flavors are always on point, the fish is always fresh, the price point is always fair, and their service is always attentive and quick. The restaurant I a bit bigger inside and has an eclectic style. The bathroom has the best smelling air freshener that I've ever smelled. It smells better than a pottery barn or crate and barrel. We will keep visiting Eat's. We learned about their other sister restaurant called Eat's AYCE Sushi. Gotta hit that place up next! read more

I love Eat's. It's a treat whenever I make it down here. Their regular sushi is solid, no complaints. But I come here for the "New Style Salmon Sashimi". Yuzu truffle ponzu sauce, it's so good. It's sweet and so umami. I can see how it might be offputting to some people without a particular flavor palate. Besides that, I love eel, so I got a bunch of eel. It was delicious. Exactly what I wanted. I enjoy coming here. It's a nice vibe, good prices, and the sushi is delicious. I drive out 20 minutes for this place and I enjoy it every time. read more

The food here was AMAZING and super affordable!!! The highlight was probably the New Style Salmon Sashimi, which was so flavorful and incredibly tender. I really recommend it. Other highlights were the Roly Poly Roll and the Salmon Skin Hand Roll. Everything was delicious though. Fresh and totally tender. The ambiance of the restaurant was very calming! I liked how the the lights on the ceiling gave the room a nice lighting. The service was super fast and the employees were so kind! The only downside is that they forgot to bring out one of our rolls- but it was so busy in the restaurant so it was very understandable. The best part though was definitely the prices. My family and I were SHOCKED by how affordable the sushi was, while also being so incredibly high in quality. Each roll was about $6.50-$6.95 whereas in other places they range around $15. So this was a huge plus. you do get less pieces per roll so the lower price makes sense but it ends up being way better because you can try many different kinds of sushi Overall it was a really great father's day dinner and I think Eat's Sushi will be my family and I's new favorite sushi spot! read more

Wait... what just happened?! This was probably one of the best bites of sushi I've had and exactly the way I like it. My daughter and I were at South Coast Plaza killing time and decided to grab some sushi. I hopped on Yelp and we decided to try this place out. They closed the wait list through the app, so I thought maybe they weren't that busy at 5p on a Friday. I was absolutely wrong. This is a small restaurant and there were a lot of people outside. The wait time was 70-110 min, so if it is closed on the app, you have to go in to get on the wait list. I was a little miffed by them closing the wait list (I would not have come had i know it was so busy), but I decided to give them a try and order to go. The order took about 30 min. I didn't read any reviews and quickly glanced at the pictures people posted, so if you're new to this restaurant, I want to tell you the main thing: the prices are reasonable because each "roll" is half the size of a regular roll! This restaurant catapulted to the top of my favorite sushi restaurants because of this. Where else can you go and try different sushi without committing to a full roll of each. I love it! We got the in&out salmon, Alaskan, roly poly and baked lobster rolls. I didn't read the description for the roll poly well, so I didn't realize there are a whole bunch of onions on top. I like onions but not that much, but I paid for it, so I'm going to eat it. Let me tell you... I'm dreaming about those onions. They weren't strong in onion flavor and they were so crunchy. I'm not sure what they do to them, but wow, they were good! And then put them and on top of salmon and real crab (not imitation). It was pretty spectacular. The in&out salmon roll was my other favorite. Everything was good. And to top it off, they gave us our meal in a reusable bag in their signature orange. What they could've done better was to text or call me when my order was ready. We just went back a little after 30 min. Overall, I fell in love with this restaurant at first bite. I live an hour away (without traffic), but I'm already looking forward to the next time I can eat here! read more

I finally got to try EATS SUSHI! There was no wait to be seated at lunch time. BUT... there's no lunch special. It's regular price only. The restaurant had a nice ambiance. I like the art on the walls and ceiling. The wait staff was patient and helpful. We got a few really nice recommendations from our waiter. I also saw some recommendations from the Yelp community. Thank you! We tried the salmon blue crab, the bento chicken katsu (very filling), the albacore delight roll (my favorite) and the new style bluefin sashimi (tasty but not worth it). All in all, a very good spot for sushi. I can definitely recommend EATS SUSHI. FYI Free soda with Yelp check-in! read more

My friends in the OC said that this is their go-to sushi spot. I learned why. Eat's Sushi is a smaller sushi restaurant tucked away in a strip mall. The restaurant fills up quickly so you have to get here early. The menu consists primarily of nigiri sushi and sushi rolls. There are several appetizers - edamame, gyoza, karaage, etc. they have a couple of noodle dishes (ramen, udon), and a few set dishes - chicken teriyaki, tonkatsu, etc But you go here for the sushi. Things like shrimp tempura was $3.95 for two pieces. The nigiri are priced at per-piece and the prices are somewhat reasonable. - $2.50 for maguro, salmon, hamachi, medai, etc. $3.50 for ikura, ama ebi, etc. Emily was our server and she was great! Loved the customer service. The bus staff, servers all acted like a symphony, working well together. I'd go back! read more

We are kind of regulars here. This is our go to sushi place and is one of our favorite restaurants. I feel that the quality of fish is good and I really enjoy it. We usually don't eat the rolls because it's not to our taste but some of them are really good. I'd especially recommend the- Since we like eating the fish itself traditionally we get the one piece sushi. The tuna toro is so delicious it practically melts in your mouth. I'm sorry for anyone who's had a bad experience here because I've only tasted the best cuts from this place ever! We often ask for extra or fresh wasabi and they always give it to us. We came here around lunch time and we were seated within 10 minutes. Service was amazing, food was great, atmosphere was clean. Everything came out in a timely manner. I like how the rolls were 4 pieces each, so it felt like we were sampling and seeing what we liked. Baja California roll was refreshing. I am not too much a fan of the albacore lover roll, but we would come back to try more dishes. Green mussels are always great. Bluefin tuna sashimi tastes really fresh. read more

Boy am I glad I found you. This place was worth the wait after putting our name on the waitlist on a Saturday night. we almost walked away when we came up to the door and they told that we still had to wait I had the kids with me and they were getting Hagry!! Francis a good gentleman that helped me was able to seat us sooner than told So that helped. Now to the food. Well, don't ask me which sushi rolls we ordered my husband handled that so refer to my photos attached point and ask them!! , but let me tell you the sushi was fresh & so good, not a single one was bland. Everything tasted good quality and the best part about all of this is the price was excellent. Not to mention that you're kind of getting half rolls for a low price, which means you get to try a lot more variety instead of ordering for example three large rolls with 10 pieces each! here you get to order more because of the portions being smaller. don't get me started on the salmon collar. There were out of the other one which is yellowtail "hamatchi". That means I have to come back for the yellowtail but salmon collar was one of the best kama this mama have ever had. We gave this place a shot two nights ago. The ambience inside is really nice. It's mood lighting with paper panels and cherry blossom trees that "transports" you to Japan. The service was above average. Unfortunately, the sushi was mediocre at best. We tried about eight different "special" rolls and none of them were particularly good. We were really hungry and they were edible, but not one of them stood out as " delicious"? The rolls that we tried that I can remember: Black spider roll Bikini roll Tiger roll Dragon roll Albacore delight Fire island Baja California The fish was pretty overworked and mushy. The garlic edamame was tasty but an appetizer shouldn't be the star of the show, obviously. We didn't try any other sashimi or sushi by itself so I don't know if that would've made a difference. For context, my husband and I are regulars as Sugarfish and it's our preferred sushi restaurant. read more

4.5 rounding up. We went to go eat here on a whim since Shunka Sushi is closed on Sundays. There's plenty of parking and by the time we got close enough to the restaurant we were on the waitlist. Unfortunately, I didn't know that you had to check in also. I thought that if you were on the waitlist, you were automatically notified, which was not the case. I had to go inside and let them know that I was waiting outside, which didn't make much sense to me but it is what it is. It's a small restaurant inside but everyone is moving and eating. The turnover for seating is remarkable. We ordered quite a bit of food: Tekka tuna roll x 2: in - spicy tuna, crunch; outside - tuna, jalapeno, eel sauce Albacore delight roll x 2: in - spicy tuna, cucumber; outside- albacore, crispy onion w/garlic ponzu Nigiri plate one: toro, bluefin tuna x 4, seared jumbo scallop, and freshwater eel Nigiri plate two: freshwater eel x 2, seared jumbo scallop x 2, pepper bluefin tuna, bluefin tuna x 4, and toro Bikini roll: inside - spicy tuna, shrimp, tempura, avocado; outside- tuna, salmon, eel sauce Crispy rice w/spicy tuna: topped with jalapeño and eel sauce. I tapped out after eating half of the nigiri plates and a crispy rice w/spicy tuna. He ate everything else. He has a bottomless pit when it comes to sushi. Waited 40 minutes on a Saturday afternoon around 3pm for a table for 4. Nigiri was fresh and all the food came out quickly. We ordered an assortment of nigiri, rolls, and appetizers and everything was delicious. Service was good except for our waitress. She did not look like she wanted to be there and it showed when waiting on our table. I would return but not sure if it's worth waiting longer than 40 minutes with the type of service we received. Food was good but nothing special. Glad we tried it though. read more

Fish was so fresh and melt in your mouth especially the fatty tuna and albacore. The sweet shrimp was also so fresh and the heads were fried very nicely. The sashimi also came with its own separate side of wasabi which complemented all of the fish so well. Wait was long (mother's day lol) and it took a little under 2 hours to be seated. Service was good and our server (i didn't get his name T^T) gave us 16 pieces of sashimi instead of the 12 so there would be enough for everyone at our table to have a piece of each fish. e been to this sushi spot a couple of times now, and overall it's a pretty solid choice, though not without its flaws. The fish quality is definitely the highlight. The salmon and tuna tasted fresh, and the nigiri was well-cut and nicely presented. I also appreciated the variety on the menu--there's a good mix of classic rolls and some more creative options. When the sushi is on point, it's really on point. That said, the experience can be inconsistent. On my most recent visit, some rolls were excellent while others felt rushed and a bit sloppy. The rice, in particular, was hit or miss--sometimes perfectly seasoned, other times slightly mushy. For a sushi place, that consistency matters. Service was friendly but slow. The staff was polite and clearly trying their best, but we waited quite a while for our food even though the restaurant wasn't packed. It wasn't a deal-breaker, just a bit frustrating when you're hungry. The atmosphere is nice enough, but nothing special. It's clean and comfortable, though it could use a little more character or warmth to match the quality of the food. Overall, this is a good sushi spot with real potential. I recommend the Salmon with yuzu and truffle oil under the new style sashimi menu. The jalapeno poppers were delicious as well - not super spicy. I love the ambiance, it feels very japan. The service is great and fast. read more

Awesome sushi place to go to even on a Sunday night! Wait was expected to be 45 to an hour but we were actually sat 15-20. A very welcomed surprise! We expected to spend about 25-30 per person and that was pretty spot on here for some pretty tasty sushi! Aesthetic was very Japanese and service was spot on for the culture. Food came out pretty quickly and when we deduced to order our second round, servers were quick to jump on our order and put it in. Wouldn't change a thing and will definitely be back! read more

The restaurant interior was cute, our server was really nice, patient and food was really good, very fresh. Rolls were reasonably priced, but also only 4 to 5 pieces each which is good because one can try many different roles. We came with a big party for the first time and when adding up all the rolls we got for the price, it does make sense to just go to a comparable valued all you can eat place like others have mentioned. I very much enjoyed our experience and the food. The only negative thing to mention is the host or the lady that was checking people in was a bit rude and unfriendly. She seemed a bit annoyed when my niece and I approached her and asked about the wait time. I think I would come back here again, just hoping not to run into the same host again. Luckily our kind waitress made up for it! read more

4.5, pretty good food and nice ambiance. ive never seen sushi under 10$ before going here! the place had a really nice vibe and lighting and great options. truly everything was good which makes its wait line and popularity well deserved. my favorite out of everything was surprisingly the jalapeno bomb while my friends was the sift shell crab. both if which we ordered mainly bc we dont see these items often available in other japanese restaurants. the jalapeno bomb was filked with tuna and cream cheese and worked so well. and soft shell crab was meaty and fresh with a really good sauce. next for me would be the sushi rolls and chicken and beef teriyaki. their rolls are very original and creative, loved the filled and creamy black spider esp since my favorite is unagi but the fire roll had a very interesting kick that worked well and i enjoyed a lot too. the chicken and beef teriyaki were just so good, grilled well and great quality w a sweet sauce thats not overwhelming. i am not a sashimi person so not much to say besides my friend saying it's really good and fresh. my least favorite was the takoyaki, it wasn't bad but it was very doughy. the filling had good squid but the dough was just too thick and bready. overall a really great spot. though not my most favorite for japanese food, this place is high on my recommendation list for nice dinners in budget that doesnt sacrifice on both taste and experience. read more

The owner is almost obsessive about the freshness of the ingredients, insisting on using only the freshest and best to offer "high quality at affordable prices" to guests. We came around 5pm on a weekday, and were seated immediately (though the restaurant was already starting to hit max capacity)! I can see why this place is so popular / they have an extensive menu, the fish is fresh, the portions generous, and the prices reasonable. Loved the option of half rolls so you can try more variety! An awesome Japanese restaurant hidden in Costa Mesa Went shopping at South Coast today and couldn't decide on lunch, so I remembered this sushi place I've had my eye on for a long time--it's right near the South Coast! It really didn't disappoint; I'd say it was amazing. We ordered: Salmon Blue Crab Roll This roll was absolutely incredible! The outside was thick, fresh salmon, and it was stuffed with sweet crab meat, creating an explosion of textures. With one bite, you get the rich flavor of salmon and the sweet freshness of crab meat. Highly recommended! Various Sushi We tried many types of sushi this time, including Bluefin Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail, Madai (Japanese Snapper), and Fresh Water Eel. Every single fish was incredibly fresh! Especially the Bluefin Tuna--it had a firm, melt-in-your-mouth texture that you could just tell was fresh. The Fresh Water Eel sushi was also fantastic; the eel was grilled to perfection and drizzled with a special sauce, making the flavor unbeatable. Chicken Karaage Classic Japanese fried chicken. The skin was super crispy, while the chicken inside was incredibly tender and juicy. Dipped in the sauce, it's the perfect bite, and the kids kept asking for more. Tako Yaki These little balls were so authentic. They were golden brown and crispy on the outside, but soft and chewy on the inside, with big chunks of octopus inside. Drizzled with takoyaki sauce and mayonnaise, and topped with bonito flakes, it was that familiar taste I love so much. Baked Green Mussel This dish was quite unique. The green mussels were topped with a thick layer of special sauce and baked until fragrant. The mussels themselves were very fresh, and combined with this creamy sauce, the flavor was very distinctive. A great try for those who love to experiment with new tastes. Seaweed Salad After all that fried food and sushi, the seaweed salad was a refreshing change. The seaweed strands were crispy, paired with a light sesame oil and vinegar dressing, which was very appetizing. Tonkotsu Ramen The ramen broth was especially rich; you could tell it was a long-simmered pork bone broth. It was warm and so comforting to drink. I like this place a bit more than Waka Sakura by Irvine's Tokyo Central because there's actually food revolving around (Waka Sakura is not really Kaiten sushi because it's just a conveyor belt that delivers the ordered food to your table). Ootoro Bar in Tustin is mostly bar style seating which it's targeting the new concept of a Sushi Handroll bar with maybe 4 to 5 four-top booths. They have their traditional menu similar to the other restaurants, but they have a Handroll menu with options of 3,4,5,6, or 7 Handroll sets. They also offer a sushi set similar to an Omakase set. With the 5, 6, or 7 Handroll sets, they offer a spicy set or a non-spicy set. If what you choose is still not enough or you want something that is not part of the various sets, they offer a la carte handroll's or you can make them into a 4 piece cut roll. If you aren't sure how much you can eat, they are willing to upgrade your choice. For instance you start with the 5 Handroll set, but later decide you want two more, they can change you 5 Handroll set to the 7 handroll's snd basically give you the two handroll's you have not gotten as part of the 7 HR set. For myself, I initially went with the 5 Spicy HR set but I wanted one last one. Instead of switching to the 6 HR set, I just ordered the Eel + cucumber a la carte Hand roll. The nice thing about the Hand roll concept is they make each Hand roll one at a time and since it's a bar set up, they give it to you immediately so One the seaweed is still crispy and two, the rice is warm. As this location is further from us, unless they adopt the Hand roll set menu at the other locations, I'll come here again to break up menu fatigue. Staff here are just as friendly as Walnut. The Irvine and Hollywood locations I think deal with a whole different dynamic of clientele.
