Ima keep this short and to the point because I believe this place speaks for itself. This is the most amazing sushi restaurant ever. The service was incredible, with sitting at the bar, everyone was so super attentive and polite, with consistent checking in. The fish was amazing, fresh and so buttery. 10/10 going again soon.

This place is absolutely delicious! Their sushi is so fresh and melts in your mouth. Any other dishes such as the tempura or ramen come in large portions so be prepared to EAT. I highly recommend this place.

I have to add an updated review as I practically live at the store. I am Ootoro's biggest fan, advocate, and all of the above. I think I've recommended this store to ten plus people who now also have converged to religious diners. I can't stress enough how good their chirashi bowl is. The lunch deal is absolutely insane and although the dinner prices are a hike, your bowl will be even heftier than what it normally is. But the deal isn't just insane, the quality here speaks for itself. I think I could write an essay on how perfect this bowl is from the thick slabs of sashimi, the quality, to the accompaniments of it, the list goes on. Also I love seeing familiar faces all the time, the managers and servers here are great!! Ootoro you better stay in business forever because my death row lunch would be the chirashi bowl with a few side orders of nigiri.

Had dinner with friends. Very professional wine and drink list. We ordered crab and shrimp noodle and some sashimi. Love everything! Our hot tea was always refilled, service was great. Menu is big and wil come back to try different things.

Great sushi and great quality. Pricing I would say is a bit high but fair for the quality. Great service. Limited seating. Clean restaurant. Nigiri was excellent.

With so much great sushi in the area, I don't take it lightly when I say this is my FAVORITE sushi spot in Orange County! The quality of food, the prompt, friendly service, the modern yet inviting environment is the perfect place for a group of friends, a date, or a family get together. I always go for their Premium Chirashi bowl which you can get at a discount if you go for lunch but BE WARNED, it'll be tough to get a seat and parking will be an issue!

We had one of the best dinners at Ootoro Sushi. Some of the fish are shipped directly from Japan, and you can really taste the difference in quality. We had just returned from a trip to Japan two weeks ago and honestly, the quality here did not disappoint at all. Every piece was impeccable. The otoro and uni were especially amazing, so creamy and rich, truly melt-in-your-mouth. We were also pleasantly surprised to see nodoguro on the menu. Omakase can be pricey but this experience was absolutely worth it. Highly recommend if you're looking for high-quality sushi and a special dining experience.

We tried the Shiki omakase at Otoro Sushi along with a few small plates, and everything was really great. The Saba is my usual favorite, and the Saba nigiri here did not disappoint. It was perfectly prepared and the flavors were so balanced. All of the fish tasted incredibly fresh and buttery without being overly "seafoody," which I really appreciate. The portions left us feeling satisfied by the end. *Also have to mention* that the texture of the soup and the order it came in was the perfect palette cleanser. What really stood out was the level of focus and care behind the counter. You can tell the chefs take a lot of pride in what they do, and every piece felt thoughtfully made. Watching them work added an extra layer to the whole experience and made the meal feel special. It is definitely a bit on the expensive side, but the quality made it feel worth it. You are paying for skill, top-tier ingredients, and attention to detail, and it shows. The lychee ice cream at the end was such a nice surprise. Light, refreshing, and the perfect way to finish the meal. I would absolutely come back for a special occasion or anytime I am craving really good sushi.

Amazing Sushi lunch omakase here at OOToro Sushi in Irvine by John Wayne airport. Professional chef and staff and nice elegant atmosphere and ambience with good price points for lunch. You will love this restaurant and beautiful clean restroom available too for disabled people too. What a wonderful experience here today. See you real soon. Everything here is flown in daily so you know it's gottz to be fresh and delicious. Yes they speak Japanese here too for all the international tourists arriving here daily.

My cousin invited my son and I to lunch since it was her son's birthday and this was his favorite sushi place. I had never been here before but my cousin comes here frequently because the sushi is so fresh. They don't take reservations so there is usually a long wait, but we were lucky that we showed up right when they opened at 11:30am on Saturday, 11/29/25 (weekend after Thanksgiving). I luckily found parking in the crowded lot (spaces are small). Place is very clean and modern. Prices are high but everything is super fresh and the fish melt in your mouth. The birthday boy chose a two item lunch combo ($27 +tax) with Toro Don and Toro Cut Roll along with an order of Hamachi Toro ($13 +tax). His portions were small. The rest of us got the Sushi Lunch for $48 +tax that comes with 10pcs Chef's Choice + 6pcs cut tuna roll (upgrade to spicy tuna roll for $2 extra). The sushi lunch comes with a live shrimp that you can choose to have prepared deep fried or cooked in a miso broth. I chose deep fried and it tasted great. The meal was enough to satiate but not necessarily make you full. Service was great and the food was amazing, but on the pricier side with small portions.

We randomly decided to try this place on a weekday night. I asked for a table for two, and the host told me twice to sit on the bench in the waiting area, in a rather hostile tone. I tried not to make a big deal out of it, and we eventually got seated within a few minutes since there were plenty of tables. Price-wise, it was definitely on the higher end, but the food was solid. I ordered the chirashi, and my friend ordered a few pieces of nigiri. Our waitress was courteous and patiently answered all our questions about the menu. Overall, it is a solid place, but I was concerned about the faint odor when I first walked in. It smelled like air was being blown out from the bathroom vent. Also, there are so many great sushi restaurants in the area, I felt this place lacks something that makes it stand out for both decor and the menu.

    Tracey N.

Let's preface: we were HUNGRY!!! Came here for lunch and it did not disappoint. We're so lucky there was no wait. Lunch combo: chilean seabass and blue crab hand roll. The seabass was melt-in-your mouth deliciousness!!! Drooling thinking about it. It was a nice thick, big piece of fish, well seasoned and perfectly flaky. One of the best I've ever had, and for ~$29, great price. Sushi lunch: came with miso soup. Plenty of food. Most items were good, but a few pieces didnt taste fresh. Scallop was chewy. Some had too much wasabi, a little overpowering. Sashimi lunch: nice thick cut of diff fishes. Hot tea: on the house

    Can I make a reservation?

Yes. I did when I went.

Do they have all you can eat?

Not that kind of sushi restaurant. However, their lunch prices and lunch combinations are reasonable for what you get. It's about quality at this restaurant.

Can I bring my baby to come?

    Yes

    Do they offer gluten-free options?

    Yeah

    Online reservations possible?

    How can we make reservations?

I would like to make Reservation for two people on Wed 8/24 at 12pm

    Does this place have Omakase?

Yes they do. But don't get it. I have tried a lot of omakase and this place is average at best. It cost us $600 for 2 people. NO alcohol. Was maybe worth $75 per person, not $300. They are crooks. Total ripoff. Don't even think about going…

Are they doing take out orders anymore? Can't place one on their website and their phone number doesn't work

Does the restaurant still have outdoor dining?

    Yes

Do they open? I called about 10 times today as early as 10:30 and last call was at 9:30pm to make reservation but no one picking up phone?

The restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday. Not sure which day you were trying to call through. They take reservations on-line as well. It is worth the effort to get a reservation! Some of the best sushi we have ever had. Service is amazing…

Do we have to make a reservation for dine-in?

If you don't want to spend a lot of time waiting in the parking lot

Are the lunch specials available for take out now?

Are they open for dine in yet?

No, but they do have Patio dinning.

Is this place open for takeout during this time?

    Yes

Do you currently offer chirashi to-go?

They do, but they do not offer the chirashi for lunch price when purchasing to go. Not sure if they are offering that price if you dine in.

Any pregnant women have raw sushi here? Wondering if the fish are farm or wild / if they were frozen before. Thanks!

Pretty much all restaurant sushi is frozen to my knowledge.

    Do they offer gift certificates?

    Not sure

    What's corkage please?

A fee applied when one brings their own bottle of wine.

    Do they offer Hamachi Kama?

I eventually flagged another server down and she gave our paper to the Host at the front. I could tell he was too busy to put the order in. Eventually they put it in, but by the time we got our first item it was 30 minutes into our 90 minute AYCE... Overall, the food was great as it always is. On the menu you can order regular dinners or there is a place where you can order either 2 or 3 entrees which come with salads, rice and green beans. My sister and I ordered the 2 entree dinners. She has been here before and knew what she was getting. She ordered salmon and vegetables tempura. Because I could only decide by thinking of other Japanese restaurants I've been to, and I was very hungry, I ordered both teriyaki chicken and sesame chicken. I now know thst portions are generous and I'd have been good with one chicken and some veggies. And that's what I'll do next time! Of. Horse I tasted my sister's dinner and the tempura veggies were delish as was the salmon. My chicken teriyaki was ok. It was a small breast sliced and I needed more sauce; there was very little teriyaki sauce but the server graciously brought more when I asked. The sesame chicken was very tasty- really good. There was a small portion of cut, cold green beans and all of the food was atop a lovely green salad, with the exception of the rice, which was in its own bowl. The good: everything was tasty. The not as good: there was too much salad dressing on the greens, the green beans were swimming in a glob of mayonnaise, and there was skin on the teriyaki chicken. I will definitely go back before I leave to go back home!

The ambiance is intimate by design: the bar seats only 20-30 people, wrapped tightly around the sushi counter. It's not the spot for a date night or a family outing, but for a quick lunch with one or two people, it's ideal. Service is speedy and consistently kind, which matters given the counter's close quarters -- everything moves efficiently without ever feeling rushed. Drinks are what you'd expect from a sushi bar: a solid rotation of Japanese beers and sake. Nothing adventurous, but a good, reliable selection. The food is where Rol shines. My wife and I always order a variety of rolls -- this visit, she loved the blue crab and scallop, while I couldn't get enough of the spicy tuna. The wasabi sauce and truffle soy sauce elevated everything, and are reason enough to keep coming back on their own. I've also had the truffle nori roll twice now, and while it's genuinely very good, I don't think it justifies the extra cost over the standard rolls -- the regular menu is strong enough that the upcharge doesn't feel necessary. All take outs only and in disposable bowls/containers. You can sit inside or outside. I understand during the pandemic why this was necessary but should be fine to return to normal operation at this point. So much garbage created with all the one-time-use stuff. Most people opt to dine in so makes no sense to have so much trash. And the indoor table was sticky. I know this is now a take out only place so diners have to clear their own plates... but we were the first group sitting down at our table when the restaurant opened...shouldn't the tables be cleaned initially before starting the day's operation? The biggest letdown...food. For a place that used to pride itself in freshly made udon and soba, these two dishes were terribly average. They might have used diluted soba tsuyu for the dipping sauce...it is not the full flavored version but tasted rather watered down in order the fill the larger takeout cup. The soup for nabeyaki also tasted bland, not as flavorful as their old broth. I think I could make a better broth using udon powder packets from grocery store. The rice dishes like katsu-don and prime beef steak were ok. Now the beloved Fukada feels like a generic food court stall. Of course it's still popular but the food is not the same.
