It has a big variety of items, many unique Japanese food items, snacks, candies, drinks, cute Sanrio items, plushies, dish ware, kitchen gadgets, cosmetics, toiletries, etc. It's very much like a Daiso and Tokyo Central. Prices are on the expensive side. I bought a couple of cute keychains. If nothing else, it's fun to explore the interesting items in each aisle. This is the biggest Japanese stuffs store I have been to. They have lots of stuffs from your social media influenced beauty products, blind boxes, claw machines, Japanese snacks and drinks, plushies, anime stuffs, knickknacks, housewares, super cute stationery, and ice creams. Bottom line, you must go and check it out. Parking is ample, restrooms are clean, well stocked. Employees are friendly and knowledgeable. You don't have to pay 10 cents for a bag when you shop there, they will give you a sturdy reusable bag that has cute pictures on it. Price wise kinda expected since you are paying the imported goods. Date of visit: January 2, 2025 Selections: Pokemon Gachapon Experience: My husband spotted this place while we were playing Pokemon Go, so we decided to check it out, especially since they were having their soft opening. I didn't know what to expect since the first thing we saw through the store window were large anime figures and shelves of different products. But upon entering, the store felt like a combination of Miniso, Daiso, and Tokyo Lifestyle since they have shelves of beauty, stationary, home goods, food, drinks, and toy products. They even had some claw machines and gachapon machines in the back. We only tried one of the Pokemon gachapon machines that was $10 a capsule and got an Eevee figure. A complete make over from previous business "Good Fortune Market". The store is Japanese themed, installed with large figures such as Goku, Pikachu, Doraemon and more characters. The isles are pristine clean with ultra bright white LED, making the store lively and tidy. There does not appear to have fresh produce, hence, this is where to get life product, similar to trips to Daiso. read more

I went here to see what kind of Asian skincare they carried and there was not a lot of popular brands/products. I felt like the snacks were also overpriced, some of the things there you can find at other Asian supermarkets. I think it would be a good place to buy gifts, especially if they like Sanrio or anime. After learning about Ebisu Life Store on Instagram, I decided to pay a visit last night. The Alhambra location closes at 10:00 pm on Saturdays, and I was able to make it there twenty minutes before closing. Honestly, twenty minutes isn't a lot of time for a big store like this, but after spending $22 I walked out feeling quite happy. The reason I came here is because I want to build a Hello Kitty gift basket for a friend's daughter. She's turning 4 in a few months. I am very happy to be able to find Hello Kitty merchandise all under the same roof. Got a set of Hello Kitty pens, a stainless steel spoon, a post it sticky notes, and 3 pack of tissue totaling around $11. For myself I picked out a $2 Pochacco pen and 2 kinds of potato chips. Oh, I also got one of those viral Korean ice cream (peach). I was expecting to pay $3.99 for one, but the actual cost was $5.99. Pretty steep for a scoop size of ice cream, but whatever, I really enjoyed it anyway. At first I thought this was just another Japanese grocery store, but this store is more like a toy/beauty shop. I was looking for my favorite Japanese jasmine iced tea, but unfortunately nada. The store is super-packed with anime toys, collectibles, and blind box figurines, from Sanrio to Gundam. These collectible toys are very pricey, so make sure to shop around before you buy. There are also claw machines arcades inside the store. Checking out was easy. The cashier bagged everything in a fancy gift bag that bears the store's mascot or logo. A free bag as I didn't see it on my receipt. It definitely beats those ten-cent grocery store brown bags, as it's colorful and very sturdy! Nice materials too! I really want to come back here and allow myself more shopping time. Two hours would be sufficient, if you really want to explore every corner. The shopping experience brings out the kid in me! Back in my younger days, I loved buying collectibles and knick-knacks. Walking into this store feels like walking into a whole new world! The best part of it is the store is in Alhambra, very close to home, and no plane ticket is required! read more

I was so excited to learn there is a new Japanese store coming to Alhambra. While I would have wished it was more of a grocery store, it offers shelf stable products along with some items in the freezer section. There is a decent section for every day products like stationery items / cosmetics/ household items. There is a decent selection of Japanese items and there is a markup vs if you were traveling in Japan. I am glad they have some popular tourist souvenirs like Kit Kats (and hard to find ones). Hoping they can get some Uji matcha latte teas or maybe even some Kyoto furikake someday (super popular but shorter shelf life items). While this store is a chain, I hope this store eventually explores the idea of conbini items (like sandwiches / onigiri) given the proximity to the nearby high school. read more

Newest store in Alhambra on Main St. Ample parking lot in their private garage which they share with other businesses. The location used to be Lohas Supermarket. I visited during the soft opening to see what the new kid on the block has for us. It's definitely a store for "wants" and not "needs". It's a stark difference from the previous business, Good Fortune Life Market that served as a local grocery store for the neighborhood. The store is well organized with aisles filled with school supplies, kawaii mugs, plates and bowls plus little trinkets for kids of all ages. There is a quaint section for snacks like ice cream, chips and candy. They carry Japanese, Chinese and Korean snacks (items you'll also find at your local Korean/Chinese market). The KitKat selection was smaller than I expected it to be but maybe they'll add more later on. Ebisu also has a dedicated beauty section next to a mini claw machine arcade. What caught my attention was the entire wall of Chinoiserie collectibles next to the life size anime statues. If you're in the area looking to burn some time, stop by and take a gander. I didn't purchase anything but I think the younger kids would enjoy running around the store. read more

The prices are reasonable for some stuff and high for others but its clean and fun and definitely a must-visit! I bought quite a few fun things. They even have bathrooms which was nice. What a cool store! Located in Downtown Alhambra, Ebisu stocks up so many things you could find in Japan. I grabbed some chips as well as some cool oreo style snacks. Nice smaller place that opened in the area. First off plenty of parking as this is located on Main St in a small plaza with stores side by side. As I first walked in, I was kind of in awe by the decorations here as well as the many options from toys to snacks to household supplies. You can find a lot of collectible toys here that you can find from a lot of the bigger Japanese stores even the snack, drinks and household item options. However, just make sure you walk in here without high expectations meaning you're not going to find everything you want or need if you've been to other bigger places. That's necessarily not such a bad thing because you also don't need to travel further to find things. It's always fun to visit these these stores especially one that's closer and has plenty of options you'd find from other similar stores. There's A LOT going on in this store! It's relatively new and I've been meaning to drop by to check it out. It's in the same building as 85* Bakery...and it used to be a small neighborhoody Chinese market that I went to once years ago. Part of the name is sorta mysterious "...Life Store". Hmmmm let's check it out! Upon entering, I noticed it was a very bright and spacious store. Right off the bat, there was a wall display of anime (I'm not into anime) and then some Japanese body soap/wash...which seemed kinda like random placement. Walking further in, I came across some Japanese beauty products (for both men and women), pharmaceutical items, household goods, snacks, plushies, claw machines, bottled/canned beverages, toys...this store seemed to have it all...everything you did not know you needed. Honestly, it was fun perusing the aisles...I would say 95% of the items are Japanese. This seemed like a Daiso, Miniso, convenience store, pharmacy all rolled into one. The only thing missing (for me) was premade food items like bento, onigiri, bakery items. I managed to find some Japanese body wash refills that I've been taking a liking to. They have tons of snacks and I decided on a small bag of Avocado and Cheese Doritos...you read that right...Avocado and Cheese Doritos (apparently a flavor in Japan!) Prices are fair considering many items are imported and hard to find. If you're looking for an interesting gift for that someone who has everything, this place might come in handy. Service/checkout was fast and nice. You even get a cool little reusable bag! It's a bit dangerous that this store is so close to home which means I'll probably be by pretty often.
