    We had tried a few other car dealerships and were told "due to your short length of time on the…read morejob, you're going to get a NO where every you go" I work contract, make well above average income, at Crown, they looked at me as a person, the fact that I've been doing the same job for 22 years (on contract) not the amount of time I was at this particular company on contract. Before we even set foot on the car lot, I had sent in all my documentation (Drivers Licence, Proof of income, residence etc.), Brian and John (I think that's the right name) checked my information, interviewed me for the loan and had an approval amount before even getting there. Although we chose a car we absolutely loved from the internet pictures, it happened to be about $4,000.00 more than our approval, but they worked with us, our down was only $500.00 more than for something in our approval amount, we received a much lower interest rate than expected. They deal with people from all walks of life, from those making minimum wage to those making over $150k a year...no matter what your situation, you're not brought in with a false sense of what you're approved for then sent to what I call the "Dog Pound" of ratty cars, you know up front before even going what you're approved for and are given a choice of late model, quality vehicles (in our case we were determined to get the one we fell for). Brian had the car we were interested in waiting for us when we showed up, handed us the keys for a test drive and when we returned, it was a matter of getting the car on our insurance, signing the paperwork, paying the downpayment and we were on our way!!! You will be treated with the respect and integrity you deserve, nothing hidden like 99% of the car dealers out there. Everybody was friendly, they make you feel like family, they're professional and don't pull anything over your eyes... If you're looking for a car, bottom of the barrel horrible credit or top of the chart excellant credit, you're going to get awesome treatment... I recommend this dealer (with multiple lots to pull from) 150%... If I could give them 10 Stars instead of 5... I would...

    To Whom It May Concern,…read more My name is Ronald W. Poythress, and I am requesting immediate assistance regarding a serious and unresolved issue with a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 that I purchased from the Charlotte, NC J.D. Byrider location on May 31, 2025. My family has had multiple positive experiences with J.D. Byrider. My wife previously purchased a Nissan from the Charleston, WV location, and we later bought a Jeep Patriot there as well--both excellent vehicles. Because of this history, I felt confident purchasing from the Charlotte dealership when I saw a 2018 Chevrolet truck listed online. Although the 2018 model sold before I arrived, I proceeded with the 2014 Silverado knowing it came with your warranty and that J.D. Byrider advertises outstanding customer service. Financial Details To complete the purchase, I traded in my Jeep Patriot, paid $1,500 cash, and financed $4,000 over 5 weeks, bringing my total down payment contribution to $6,500. Including out-of-pocket repair and towing costs, I now have $9,175 invested into a truck that I had for less than 90 days. Mechanical Failures & Safety Incident During my short ownership, I experienced multiple mechanical problems: Week 1: The battery failed--truck would not start. Later: I paid $300 to have the truck towed in due to a bad starter, plus a $50 service fee. Shortly after: I paid $175 for another tow because the wire on the replacement starter burned in half due to being improperly tightened during installation. Finally, while traveling to visit family, the truck caught fire on Fancy Gap Mountain. I was able to extinguish it before total loss, but the vehicle was severely damaged. I paid $800 to have it towed to the Charlotte Byrider service department. After a month of calling with no updates, I was finally told the vehicle was being declared totaled. Another month later, I was informed I still owe $2,500 to the finance company--despite the truck being gone, undriveable, and owned for less than 90 days. Communication Issues I have attempted to contact the General Manager multiple times with no response. I have been in contact with Dan in Finance, who stated he has sent emails to management with no replies. Important Safety Note I have documentation from Chevrolet regarding a factory recall related to the exact fire issue this truck experienced. Request I am urgently requesting assistance and a resolution. I am a business owner and need a full-size truck to continue operating.     I was looking for a 2016 Tacoma Off Road with crew cab and manual transmission and started my…read moresearch on Toyota.com. I've corresponded with 5 dealerships that asked me stop by to start the process and they don't even have the truck or any intention of locating since I wasn't physically there. Toyota of Gastonia was different, Dan Matkin send me an email and asked me to text him what I was looking for. We spend about 20-30 minutes texting and he was able to locate a truck and came to an agreement on the trade-in and purchase price on the vehicle. Granted Dan give me an estimated trade-in on the assumption that I was truthful with the condition of the SUV, the price was more than fair. I called and spoke with Nick Thompson and left a deposit on Friday and was called on Monday to inform me the truck was ready for delivery on Tuesday. We stopped by and dealt with Kevin Brown because Dan wasn't available, but he had handed Kevin almost all the paperwork and there was no bait-and-switch tactical involved. I was initially a bit reluctant, but Kevin was a great guy also. I was initially sold on the 2.9% for 72 months, but the promotion ended a day before while they were transferring the truck from another dealership. I did confirm the promotion rate ended through other dealerships as well, so it wasn't their fault. The best they had was 3.9% for 72 months, but Nick Thompson was able to meet me in the middle due to my credit score and off we went to the finance manager at the sister dealership at Mazda in well under 30 minutes. We planned on transferring the plate from our existing SUV to the Tacoma, but didn't realize that that wasn't possible if my wife, who financed the SUV, wasn't on the loan also. So in the middle the singing we had to start over again to add my wife to the loan and registration for the Tacoma and spend an extra 30 minutes. Jay Kumar, Finance Manager, had another customer waiting but never appears to be frustrated and he educated us on the different service contracts but was never pushy. We left after 90 minutes after arrival to take delivery of the Tacoma. But it doesn't end there, a few days later we received a tin box with cookies which were actually pretty damn good. I also had to text Dan again to get an official odometer reading so we can cancel the existing service contract on the trade-in. He responded promptly and still provide excellent customer service, even after the deal had already been closed. Buying a car at Toyota of Gastonia was by far the easiest and fastest car purchase experience for me and I've purchased new on several brands such as Acura, BMW, Honda, Nissan, VW and now Toyota. As with anything in life, your miles may vary. It all depends on who you get on the other end of the line. Dan, Nick, Kevin and Jay are definitely assets to Toyota of Gastonia.

    This dealership ruined the HVAC in my Sienna. The vehicle was brought in for something completely…read moreunrelated and there was nothing in the original diagnostic indicating any type of HVAC issue. After spending $1600 to resolve the issues, I picked up the car only to have hot air blowing. Dealership picked the van back up and said issue was fixed now and no charge since it was their fault but when I tried the heat now it was not working. I was so upset I asked for the Servi e Manager. The asst service manager, Scotty, said he was in charge and that they would need to tear down the whole dash and it would cost thousands of dollars to repair. Further, he tried to indicate it was on the original diagnostic even though it is nowhere in the paperwork and no suggestions were even made with anything concerning the HVAC. Poor customer service and poor technicians and service bay who will cause other issues with your vehicle.

Mickey said he would meet us on a Saturday at 9 am to meet with Truliant Federal Credit Union he does a lot of business with them. It was a straight forward process we walked out with check in hand for our purchase. This goes above and beyond outstanding customer service. We are very happy with the car and will be back for our next car purchase. I did see another review regarding processing time in sending the tag and title. Our tag was mailed promptly and the bank received the title quickly there were no issues there.
