I've corresponded with 5 dealerships that asked me stop by to start the process and they don't even have the truck or any intention of locating since I wasn't physically there. Toyota of Gastonia was different, Dan Matkin send me an email and asked me to text him what I was looking for. We spend about 20-30 minutes texting and he was able to locate a truck and came to an agreement on the trade-in and purchase price on the vehicle. Granted Dan give me an estimated trade-in on the assumption that I was truthful with the condition of the SUV, the price was more than fair. I called and spoke with Nick Thompson and left a deposit on Friday and was called on Monday to inform me the truck was ready for delivery on Tuesday. We stopped by and dealt with Kevin Brown because Dan wasn't available, but he had handed Kevin almost all the paperwork and there was no bait-and-switch tactical involved. I was initially a bit reluctant, but Kevin was a great guy also. I was initially sold on the 2.9% for 72 months, but the promotion ended a day before while they were transferring the truck from another dealership. I did confirm the promotion rate ended through other dealerships as well, so it wasn't their fault. The best they had was 3.9% for 72 months, but Nick Thompson was able to meet me in the middle due to my credit score and off we went to the finance manager at the sister dealership at Mazda in well under 30 minutes. We planned on transferring the plate from our existing SUV to the Tacoma, but didn't realize that that wasn't possible if my wife, who financed the SUV, wasn't on the loan also. So in the middle the singing we had to start over again to add my wife to the loan and registration for the Tacoma and spend an extra 30 minutes. Jay Kumar, Finance Manager, had another customer waiting but never appears to be frustrated and he educated us on the different service contracts but was never pushy. We left after 90 minutes after arrival to take delivery of the Tacoma. But it doesn't end there, a few days later we received a tin box with cookies which were actually pretty damn good. I also had to text Dan again to get an official odometer reading so we can cancel the existing service contract on the trade-in. He responded promptly and still provide excellent customer service, even after the deal had already been closed. Buying a car at Toyota of Gastonia was by far the easiest and fastest car purchase experience for me and I've purchased new on several brands such as Acura, BMW, Honda, Nissan, VW and now Toyota. As with anything in life, your miles may vary. It all depends on who you get on the other end of the line. Dan, Nick, Kevin and Jay are definitely assets to Toyota of Gastonia.

I normally wouldn't post such details online but for this review I think it's important for consideration of others when buying from All City Auto. I was looking for a very specific type of vehicle across several states, a Porsche Cayenne GTS, even considered flying out to Vegas to look at one. My previous Cayenne got flooded in Hurricane Helene so on top of looking for the right vehicle we had our concerns of water damage for the next vehicle, we didn't want to purchase what we had just lost. This is a beautiful beast of machinery that runs so smoothly! Our travels span several states regularly and we've had no issues whatsoever. Now for the sales experience, I truly appreciate how smoothly everything went and it's actually one of the reasons we drove out of state twice to finalize our decision. The GTS is a very specific model and there aren't many in the used car market at a given time to choose from, especially considering the certain features we wanted. There was no pressure to purchase this vehicle. We were offered the freedom to take what time we needed to drive it and really get comfortable inspecting every square inch without being constantly hassled regarding whether we liked it or had made our decision. The high pressure sales/oversight literally pushed us away from two dealerships, sending up red flags due to urgency of purchase. All City did not do this which helped us feel at ease in making an informed decision on such a large purchase. When we came back for the second time a week later, having been to several other dealerships, our mind was pretty much made up. We test drove the vehicle again just to be sure, asked all our remaining questions and finished out paperwork by early morning/lunch time. Such a smooth transaction, other dealers could certainly take note. This is the experience people want when purchasing a vehicle, no amount of spamming text messages or phone calls are going to convince someone to spend this kind of money on a vehicle. Either we want it or we don't. High pressure sales aren't the way to go, especially in this day and age, if anything (and especially in our case) it's a turn off. Thank you All City! Truly a stand-out experience in what is often quite a cumbersome endeavor.

After only sixteen days, the nightmare began. To date we have documented 28 non-consecutive days use of the vehicle and 93 days of the vehicle being out of comission and at our trusted mechanic's shop (where it still is). The ownership has told us that we "waited" too long to let them know there was an issue and we basically now have an $11,000 paper weight to decorate our driveway with when/if we get it home (not to mention the over $4,000 in repair work we had to have done to get other issues put right. In my opinion, I would not do business with these people again as they are unwilling to do the right thing and work with us to resolve the issue in a mutually beneficial manner. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

I have to say that every single person at Hi-Line went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied. I flew into town from Florida the day after I found the car online and spoke to the guys Over the phone about it. I just had that feeling that this was where I was going to be able to trust the process. The moment I pulled up in my Uber, my salesman, Neil Skipwith, was waiting on me at the door with an umbrella. I had just flown in in the middle of a tropical storm and the weather was not playing nice. Neil was noticeably grateful and relieved to see me and immediately came to usher me in the door. The whole office was all but cheering that I had made it safely through the storm. Neil and the financial man (pardon me, I just can't remember his name and he was so amazing! I think he might have been top management, maybe even owner?) already had everything laying out for me and ready to go. All that was left to do was look at the car. They brought me a soda (or two) and conversed with me while we waited in between steps. Neil and I took the test drive together (where he proceeded to open every door, hood, nick and cranny for me to inspect) and sat in the backseat for social distancing purposes. We went on a longer test drive than I have ever been offered before. Every question I had, he had an answer or went out of his way to find out for me. We wired the funds to the dealership to pay and the man I mentioned previously continued to check the bank statements periodically and updated me as soon as the funds had cleared. Neil knew I would be driving back to Florida in the storm and offered a free night's stay at the Hilton downtown if I felt it wasn't safe enough to leave or if I simply felt uncomfortable doing so. I declined as I wanted to make it halfway before stopping, but Neil then went out of his way to fill my gas tank up. Every single person in this dealership went above and beyond- even the guys/ girls that were not working directly with me checked on me periodically. I was in and out with my new car in less than 3 hours. I have since driven it all the way back to Florida and I have to say this car is INCREDIBLE! Impeccably maintained. I can't think Hi-lIne auto or Neil (or financial man) enough for this great experience. Ps: forgot to mention, I even overheard Neil talking with someone about the fact that he was actually not even supposed to be working that day but he came in to finish the deal and stayed beyond the time that he was needed in order to see me off. PPS: The guys made me promise to let them know I had made it safely and I had forgotten until now. Checked my email and there's Neil, making sure I was safe!! Don't go anywhere else.
