I love the Ecco Lounge. This time I tried the tuna steak with spaghetti as a side. The tuna was grilled and a bit on the dry side, but still had good flavor. The spaghetti was decent too with a garlic intense sauce. We got onion rings as an appetizer which are some of the best around. They are lightly breaded and not greasy at all. read more

The place was packed; which speaks for itself! My sister got the 22.00 ribeye and it was delicious. I'm from Northern Illinois so I wasn't expecting what I am used to. The Ecco is no longer a smokey bar with a worn out menu. The new ownership has done a good job with an interior remodel and a new menu....though they kept some old favorites. Four of us stopped in late (around 8:30) last Thursday night and experienced good atmosphere, really good burgers, outstanding onion rings and very attentive service. We sat in the bar area and didn't notice any smoke. The Ecco boasts that it is the longest continually operating restaurant/bar in Jefferson City. There are some really good things to say about this place. Old school dive bar motif is what I expected, wait staff was pleasant. Prices were reasonable. The hand breaded mushrooms were excellent, the pastrami reuben with their own 1000 island was very good. BUT, and this is why they get 3 stars, STALE RUFFLES POTATO CHIPS with the sandwich. If you can make your own breaded mushrooms, zucchini, mozzarella and dressings, make your own chips, or at least open a fresh bag. read more

I gave it another try, but was disappointed again... I ordered a "lightly blackened" chicken breast sandwich with lettuce, onion, and specifically asked for no pickle. I received an almost imperceptibly-seasoned, slightly burned breast that was inedibly dry, yet served on an impeccably toasted bun. So, kudos for that incredible bun-toasting work. I wouldn't eat this if my wife served it to me. It was a to go order, so I had no idea until I got back to the office, about 8 minutes later. Pickles were included despite my objection, but thankfully shielded from the burger with a wax paper barrier that I honestly appreciate a lot. Really good thinking, whomever did that! Pickle juice still got on the lettuce, tomato, and onion, but it wasn't a big deal. The tomatoes were fresh and tasty and the lettuce leaf was sizable, covering the entire bun. I had the perfect chicken breast in a sandwich from Zesto's on Missouri not too long ago. If Ecco Lounge could serve chicken as succulent as that they would be in a much better position. The Ecco Club is thick sliced turkey, melted cheese, apple slices & Swiss...basically heaven on grilled bread. Let me start off by saying the food is decent. I've had it to go with my coworker's and it was always good. But today was the first time I ate in and I am beyond disappointed with the service. My friend and I were sat at a booth in the bar. Shortly after being sat we were provided a menu and our drinks. We sat for approximately 20 minutes before the bartender took our order. And as we were placing the order she stopped listening to speak to the booth behind us. She then took our order and walked away. We ordered the siraichi and honey wings and onion rings as an appetizer. And we ordered a french dip and a bacon cheeseburger as our meal. And again we waited approximately 20 minutes for our appetizers. The wings were delicious but the onion rings were bland and lacked flavor. We received our sandwiches within 5 minutes of our appetizers. The sandwiches were okay, nothing to truly write home about. Let me reiterate the service was atrocious. You can tell the staff is use to serving their usuals and they receive the better treatment. And you can tell they aren't very well trained at customer service because even though we had to wait an inconvenient amount of time there was no acknowledgement. Instead the bartender and a waitress pointed at us and commented that we were the couple they were talking about. I've worked as a waitress and I have friends who still are waitresses and waiters. And I know what it's like to be busy and to have unpleasant customers. But I honestly think we were more patient than the staff deserved. And sadly we allowed the tip to reflect the way we felt about our service. read more

Let me just say this could be a contender for the best burger I have ever eaten in my entire life. Covered in hot sauce, provel cheese, sauteed onions and mushrooms, and pepperoncinis! Was in JC traveling for business, and a large group of us went here after work. The staff was very attentive to our large group (~18), and the food was quite good. Exceptionally large and delicious onion rings, mozzarella sticks, fried zucchini and mushrooms were enjoyed by all as appetizers. Have eaten here a few times but never again. The waitress brought our beers and took our order then we never saw her again. Ordered two medium burgers; one was well done and the other was rare. We never got a drink refill. I requested a glass of water twice from passing servers before I finally got one. I asked for our ticket twice before I had to go to the bar and ask the bartender for it. She promptly told me she couldn't get it. Finally, our original server came to ask us who waited on us so she could get our ticket. Really?! You did! Then the bartender came along and asked us what we had so they could get us a ticket! When we did get a ticket it was wrong. Asked for a manager and there was not one working. Great restaurant! I came here by chance, as I have never been in Jeff City before this day. I found this place and ordered the albiy burger. May have been among the best burgers I have ever had. It was spicy, a little messy, packed with flavor, and the meat was tender and well spiced. The waitress was so friendly, cracking jokes and making me laugh. The people are friendly but the food is lacking. The wait staff recommended the batter fried lobster tail. The batter was halfway cooked and runny inside. The drawn butter was drawn grease. My husband ordered the ribeye which was tasteless and not seasoned. We ordered the boiled shrimp appetizer and the shrimp were over boiled and tuff. Bread comes with the meal in the form of toast which is not properly toasted. How can one not know how to toast bread. Salad was the only thing bearable.
