Celebrated friend's birthday with Sir Sly. Took about 30 minutes to find the place though after riding by numerous times lol. It's near this over/under pass thing. Kinda confusing. Anyhow was fun to cruise around town :-) Upon finally arriving you show your ticket or pay and the sidewalk gate. As you make your way through the private lot you see a patio where some people have begun to congregate. Once inside the place opens up. To your right is the small stage, nearby is a bar and to the back of the room are some table tops and another main bar. It's dark and pretty chill. Of course the area near the stage gets crowded but you can hang back a bit and still get a descent view and feel the vibe. Drinks are pretty reasonable and service pretty good. I checked this venue out for the first time for a Flavors 90's party with DJ Spinna, J.Rocc and Evil Dee (hosted by Cognito) on Fri, December 6, 2013. I had heard about the parties held here, but I never knew what kind of a vibe it had until that night. I purchased the tickets online and printed them out so it was super easy to get inside the club. We arrived around 10:30 pm, but there wasn't a line! There were maybe 2 people in front of us. As soon as we got in, we headed to the open patio to meet up with our friends as it was fairly spacious compared to the debauchery that was taking place inside. :) Once we made our way inside, I noticed the place was PACKED to full capacity. We wanted to make our way to the front (near the stage) to meet up with our friends, but had to weave through people who were packed tightly right around that area. The main stage area isn't very big to start with, so with the DJs spinning BOMB ASS MUSIC, it's no wonder we didn't have any room to breathe! I just danced and shimmied my way through, and thankfully, sleazy guys didn't attempt to grab my bum! Towards the back (past the first bar), there are seats available along the walls. These open up fairly quickly if the DJ is good, as who wants to sit around when there is great music playing? The bar was packeddd but not overwhelming to the point where you wouldn't want to bother getting a drink. The bathroom lines were moderate as well. Overall, I didn't feel like coming here was a hassle at all because starting with parking (a couple of buildings down towards the back), getting inside the club, making my way through, and having a good time dancing the night away... I never felt impeded. I may also be looking at this venue with rose-tinted glasses because of the awesome group of people I partied with! I lost my wallet here recently and management here sucks ass. The night I lose my wallet, I'm told to stay until the end of the event to check lost & found. Then when I come back the next night to check, they said to come back the next day when they're setting up for the night. I come at 2 and literally nobody is here except a few workers setting up the place, that aren't management. I tried calling them multiple times only to be sent straight to their automated message saying they won't confirm whether or not a lost item is there so I've literally driven back 3 times. It's out of the way so I have to open a few hours out of my day to come here, only to not be helped. Nobody wants to drive through LA traffic, especially on the weekend. Wtf. Just tell me through the phone whether or not it's here so I don't have to keep my time. It's a small venue so it gets hot and cramped pretty fast. read more

I saw Chk!Chk!Chk! here a couple years ago and the place was pretty iffy. Parking and walking to this venue alone is not something you want to do if you are a timid female. The floors are sticky, the place has a dirty funk to it, lighting is weird. There's just nothing to rave about. !!! is a good band that I believe attracts a pretty fun-loving crowd, however, Echoplex is shady enough that a different side of fans came out to play and it wasn't a chill vibe at all. read more

First time ever to Echoplex...and I had a blast!! Went for Soul Slam 8: Prince vs. Michael Jackson so the music was awesome, a very soul/funk kind of night. There was a line at the door, but it moved very quickly. We were on the guest list so added points there, otherwise I think tix were $15. When I first walked in I thought, wow, this place is huge!! I noticed 2 bars, there may have even been a third, not sure. Kept a tab open at the back bar, and never had any problems getting a drink. Reasonably priced too, drinks were about $9. Snoop Dogg look-a-like told me to order 2 at time cause they were weak, but the bartender was definitely pouring them stronger for the ladies ;) The crowd was a mix of 21 yr old hipsters down to party hard to 50 yrs old getting their groove on to the music they grew up loving. Everyone was so nice too! It caught me off guard at first. Ladies saying sorry and excuse me when they accidentally bumped in to you. Dudes down to chat without any expectations. I also like that they provide free water that you don't have to ask the bartender for. Cups and water dispenser to the right of the bar. Nice! There was ample seating, which I really liked. No VIP tables here, first come, first served. Nice to sit down and rest your footsies, especially for the girls wearing heels. Attire ranged from club girls in their mini dresses and stiletto heels to hip-hop b boys and girls. They stayed open until 3am, which was great to have an extra hour to dance and sober up. I don't know what a regular club night is like there, or if they always do special events, but I would definitely come back for a fun night out. Tip: There were absolutely no taxi's hanging around at the end of the night, and the street looked extra dark and kinda scary. I called for 2 cabs and they were there within 5 minutes. read more

It's been a year since I've been here. Only have been here for the event 143. It's an R&B throwback event! So if you were born in the 90s and like r&b this is the event to go. It's a $10 entry fee. It happens every last Thursday of the month. Came with my friends last night, always have a good time here! A year ago they didn't have the 2nd level open so it was always packed. Lines were always long prior to opening so you'd have to be in line at like 8pm. Idk how the line is now since they opened up the 2nd floor, my friends and I came late and entry was quick, came around 11pm. But they have multiple bars throughout the venue, and 2 different patios. It still gets pretty packed but just head to the upper level and it's hella less crowded. Definitely an event to check out if you haven't yet! read more

Bouncer was so rude and wasn't letting anyone in unless you were paying him under the table. I went yesterday with friends we Waited in the RSVP line for two hours and when we finally got to the front of the line he had us wait for another hour. He didn't communicate or even acknowledge the people waiting in the long line. He was rude and looked so miserable. He is losing business for the company with his horrible customer service skills. The bathroom was very clean , and never had to wait. Also if you need say a candy bar , this super nice lady , who also hands you paper towels to dry your hands , sells little snacks . Budos Band from NY rocked this place out. Walked in and found the space to be a lot bigger than expected. Like a large industrial warehouse with two bars. Plenty of space. My experience: The stage area becomes crowded but we finagled our way front and center , if you're up front you may find the MJ being passed around unselfishly, drunk girls awkwardly and sloppily throwing themselves onto the first guy standing next to them, a break dancing circle where two guys pump chests almost getting into a fight only to play it cool and hug it out shortly after, trumpets, sax and drums pounding through your chest, Elijah Wood grooving out at the side of the stage (who knew Frodo was so damn hot in person), two hours of Budos band and my old lady back was starting to hurt...then these damn folks cheer on a never ending encore. Sweet! Parking: Pretty shitty. They have valet for $9, but didn't want to chance it. Drove around the neighborhood and found nothing. Maybe it was because Echo Park Rising was going on or maybe it was something else but I recently went there this past weekend and let me just say this place has false advertising on their social media platforms. They said they would let the first 100 people in for free with RSVP on their IG but the only catch is that you had to be there before 10:30 PM. Everyone else after that would have to pay regardless but sadly this was not the case. They didn't even start letting people in from the line until 11:15 PM so everyone had to pay anyway. WHAT A SCAM! The guy that was taking the money was a fucken dick too who was snatching peoples money like it was his. Horrible service with a horrible attitude for paying customers. When the night began the bartenders were giving people full cans of their over priced Sapporo's and towards the middle of the night they were only pouring half the can in plastic cups and keeping the rest beneath the bar. WTF!? My guess this is in an effort to cut corners and save money. Lastly, my friends and I were there for Indie Night and the DJ's were basically playing mordern day KROQ songs from today and only a few from back in the day. 143 moved here and the venue is much bigger but the hype is too real here. We arrived around 10:30pm and didn't get to go in until around 12am. The club closed at 2:00 so we only had 2 hours to dance.... The line was so ridiculous.... A lot of people left to other clubs but I really wanted to see how 143 was and listen to the r&b I was promised haha. The drinks were overpriced ($17 for an AMF) but I will say it was a lot more spacious then normal LA clubs. However there was a water leak from above. They need to do more renovations to this location and book better Djs. Still had a good time despite this. Don't waste your time going any other night...DUB CLUB on Wednesdays is all you need to know =D Lots of dancing space, scattered tables with seats, two full bars (look for Sarah by the bar near the patio exit), live reggae on stage, patio for smoking (with DJ!), free before 10pm, ONLY $5 after 10pm, and ridiculous fun vibes throughout the night- EVERY week!!!! I can't thank my friend enough for introducing me to this awesome little place. Yes, it's off the alley. Yes, the line can get long. Yes, it's only open until 2am...but trust me, you'll always have a great time. The ONLY flaw I could think of is that they sell their Red Stripes in a can and not in a bottle (like The Little Temple). That's just because I'm picky about beer coming from a can and not from a bottle though. Parking CAN be a nuissance but somehow I always find street parking (even when I head over after work at 11:40pm LOL). They have valet parking too for $8 but I suggest driving around a few times before giving in. The ladies outside selling hot dogs are awesome!! One of them sells veggie hot dogs (perfect for me since I'm vegan). (She's the one that sells on the outside of the sidewalk..I'd give out her name but I'd rather keep that private). This place! We almost missed the gig because it was tricky getting to it. Since its right underneath the Eco the GPS was going nutts. Once we got there we paid for valet parking just how the street for 20, wasn't too bad. Once we were inside the venue felt like the GA section at the Musicbox. There are rails sectioning off the floor from the bar area. My brother and my cousin were there and the said the view wasn't that great from where they were standing. I on the other hand had a good view. By the end of the show I got to the second row. The only bad thing was that because it got so hot, all the moisture started gathering on the roof and it started dripping down midway through the show. But I don't know if thats a regular thing. Internet cat film festival with Grumpy Cat y'all!!! Been here a few times. Since most of the parking is up on Sunset, it'd be nice if they had a way to walk down to the Echoplex, besides jay-walking and having to go down a very long set of stairs you then have to walk up to get back to your car. Day events also kind of stink, as the meters are all 2 hours maximum, and finding a non metered space in this crowded, hipster area is damn near impossible. The events tend to let in late, and start late, at least the few times I've gone. Once I went to a show that opened doors at 8pm but didn't start until midnight. The drinks are not overly expensive but not cheap. The bartenders are nice enough. The big problem is something that is sold out, and requires video like the internet cat festival (a handful of shorts had subtitles). Unless you are in the front row, you can't see. Considering they have a couple of TV's in the back, they should broadcast the show, so a few more people can see while lounging. That would be nice. Still, tickets are cheap, and the place is tiny (about the size of the floor space of the Troubadour), so you get an intimate atmosphere. read more

The acoustics are terrible in this place. If you are standing under the lip towards the back bar, everything sounds muffled which is unfortunate because I think the space has a lot of potential. It pretty much ruined my experience with a band that I was incredibly excited to see. We drove all the way from Las Vegas to see RFTC play here. It was the best show ever! The atmosphere is very cool for a small club. It is mostly standing room only, there was seating against the walls, but who wants to sit down when you are watching an awesome band play anyhow. My only complaint were these giants who decided to take over the front row and it was really hard to see over them, other than that, I love this venue more than the bigger venues we have in Vegas. You really feel like you are part of the band when you can see them up close. As far as parking, we got there early and paid the $10 (cash only) guy at the lot by the bank. We get spoiled in Vegas with free ample parking, so this was very new to us. He seemed legit, but when we were leaving we noticed he had to valet the cars that came later and he didn't have a "real spot" to hide the cars keys. Not sure about that. read more

The bar drinks seem to be pretty cheap compared to other venues. The bars have free cold water at the end of the bar. I like how every time weve been there is no dress code. Patio is nice. The few cons is that like most venues it gets hot when its packed. i also dont like how there really isnt much street parking nearby. So the location is pretty decent and the bouncers are actually pretty legit (who knew?) but once you're inside you'll realize "Wow, venues don't get much better than this!" First off, the sound system is pretty redonkulous (that's right, redonkulous) which is a treat ... the only way you can listen to Nicolas Jaar is with a system that means business. My only two negatives are the seemingly understaffed dancefloor-adjacent bar and the CROWD. You know how when you go to a "show" (ie guitars instead of laptops) and people scout a good spot and stay there, standing hard and not letting you through. That's the crowd that came out for Nicolas Jaar - when I was expecting electronic dancefloor etiquette. Perhaps it's the location of the Echoplex or the fact that good ol' Nico was on an XLR8R podcast, but I've never seen such a great DJ with such a shitty dancefloor. But the cons far surpass these drawbacks. The bartender (Brandon?) was the best bartender of all time. Hands down. When the annoying guy who keeps trying to yell over people to get the attention of the barstaff made one comment too many, the bartender lost it and told him to be more courteous - which was appreciated because the person he was heckling to me. Anyway, great service and he really established some law and order. Next, and most importantly, thank you Echoplex for the FANS. Oh my word, every dancefloor needs them and this combined with the sound system and barstaff really made me feel taken care of. This is the exact opposite experience I had from the El Rey. From now on, no matter how good an artist is at the El Rey, I will never go back. The opposite is true for Echoplex: even a semi-decent artist will get my attention because this is such a great spot to go see live music. Let's just hope the crowd that comes out is a little more chill next time. read more

So glad I am alive to experience this peaceful medical production. I come here only for the best of the best club that is named DUB. I sometimes like to use the restrooms on occasion but not all of the time. It is an unlawful duty to not have a spicy pepper beverage (it's their specialty, you will not be disappointed in the slightest). In the morning I like to drive by before work, it gives me goosebumps traveling down the road looking at this place. It blows me away. My wife's name is Robin and she loves to dance her little toushy to the beats of the drums. Thanks you so so so so much man I love the vibe and I will never forget this place. We came here for the first time on the last Thursday of July and it was the worst decision my boyfriend and I ever made for many reasons: 1) it was super packed 2) the line took 3+ hours to get into 3) pay $10 each to get into a line that was overpacked with WAY too many people inside that you could barely move nor dance to have fun in. The wait of the line was not something you'd want to wait in nor pay for, so I suggest you not to pay to get into an overpacked club that feels like it has no AC and also surpasses the overcapacity unless you want to suffocate off of someone else's BO for the rest of the night. Came on a Thursday night for 143, an R&B event. My friends and I got there around 8:15 (it starts at 9) and the line was already ridiculous. Too bad I couldn't even get in. Which would have been okay, honestly, if it was fair and square. I've done my fair share of waiting in lines for other things, and I understand that since it's a club, they probably wouldn't want to overcrowd the place or something. But please, hire better security. These guys are really something else. One minute, they'd be talking to my friends and saying that if we pay $10 per person they can get us to cut like 100 feet ahead of the crowd. We were VERY tempted, but decided not to. Next thing you know one of them accuses us of cutting!! His exact words, "I've been manning this line for 5 hours and I've never seen your face don't try to play me. Back of the line." My friends and I were dumbfounded and offended at this point. The amount of people cutting in front of us, with and without paying these "security" people, was insane. I don't see you throwing each and every one of them out of the line? I got kicked out not because I was cutting, but because I didn't play your little payoff game? Good job you played yourself. Thankfully, before this happened my friends and I were already deciding to go somewhere else because the line was ridiculous (it was past 11 at this point), or else I would have been even more infuriated. CONCLUSION: don't get me wrong, I'm sure this event is loads of fun. Friends who have been tell me all about it. But if you want to avoid the drama and BS then the best thing to do would just be to wait in line before 8. Don't give into paying the security to get farther up front. There is literally a continuous stream of people cutting regardless, and by the time you pay them off and get up ahead, they'd probably be towards the end of the line, asking other people to bring in front of you again. Whenever I come here, I always have a good time. It's a cozy place to hang out, get mildly tipsy, and enjoy some good music. I came here recently for the Sky Saxon tribute concert put together by Billy Corgan. I knew I was in for a treat as soon as he stepped out and started playing Spirit in the Sky. Every person from their 20s to their 60s bonded with the love for Sky Saxon and his music. I can understand why people may not be dazzled by this place. I've heard people complain about being too small, having a dingy atmosphere, or suffering from a crappy speakers/sound. You know what? I really don't notice it. I dig it. I couldn't help but sway my head to the music. The drinks were strong and solid. When I got the munchies, the bar was able to provide sustenance via Two Boots pizza. I was one happy camper. So... what to look out for? 1. Bathrooms. They do exist... with bathroom attendants! How classy is that? I feel like a Rockefeller 2. Booze. It's there. I highly recommend it. 3. Parking. Hit the streets, man. Also, come early so that you can find decent parking. 4. Food. If for some reason you're not into Two Boots, then hold it for after the show. Watched a concert here on a Tuesday, parking is easy! just park along sunset or next to the lake, plenty of options for free parking :D security was easy, we were able to get in about 15min after they were set to open. the sound was generally pretty good, could hear the voice, bass/drums/piano generally pretty well. the concert was sold out and i stood towards the front, and it wasnt super hot like other venues. i even wore a long sleeve under a jacket, but you wont get warm in there. solid venue! prices are super fair, bought an 805 for $8, mango carts are $7. read more

Went to see Yelawolf for his 51/50 tour on halloween . Security was at there best very respectful. At the entrance the cashier greeted me with a smile and proceeded my ticket witch was a digital version on my cell with out any issues. One Inside the vibe was super chill I felt really comfortable and welcomed.
