On 8/23/21 I went to Eckert Hyundai in Denton, Texas to look for a new vehicle after an accident totaled our car. Our sales rep gave us a list of vehicles in transit that included the car we wanted (Genesis GV70 3.5T ) and a few others, and we went home to consider our options. The next morning the sales person emailed us a list of the cars and prices, the one we wanted wad $2000 above sticker but $1000 below the listed internet price. Later we switch to texting and the salesperson again confirms the price of the car we want in writing as the same as in email the night before. We decide that while not ideal, this is acceptable in the current market and call to give a $500 deposit over the phone and verbally confirm the VIN of the car and the offered price once again. Minutes later, after charging my card, the salesperson calls me back to tell me his GSM won't do the deal since it was $1000 under the advertised price and they do not offer discounts. I ask for the GSM to call me. Jeff Eckert calls me. He apologizes for his salesperson being wrong but refuses to honor the offered value (which is still $2000 above sticker). He refuses any further discussion and tells me that I am being completely unreasonable to expect him to honor a price given to me in writing, twice, by an authorized agent of his dealership. He does offer my $500 back, which was of course an absolute necessity since it paid to them under false pretenses, but Jeff Eckert makes no other attempt to find a middle ground or honor the price his salesperson offered. Jeff repeatedly cuts me off mid-sentence, not allowing me to finish talking. He ends the call with "I said I'm sorry, what else do you want me to do? You're not being reasonable. There's nothing I can do about this. " However, there were many ways to solve the problem such as... Honor the price which is still a massive markup for them, find a middle ground on price, offer an extended warranty package at discount, or for free, offer an extended term of free maintenance, offer discounts on upgrades, take a cut off the commission since the salesperson made the error...... The bottom line is that it shouldn't be the customer's job to find the solution when the dealer makes a mistake, but Jeff offered no solution other than a metaphorical single digit extended in my direction. He blamed the customer for being unreasonable to expect a written offer that was above sticker to be honored. Before Jeff Eckert or another dealer rep comes here to explain that they are sorry they could not meet my desired price and wish me well, it would be instructive for the reader to know that I received effusive apologies from multiple senior executives of Genesis when I reached out with my story. Genesis Corporate has bent over backwards to make sure that I know that Jeff's behavior was not appropriate, and to make sure I am a completely satisfied customer that will come back to the brand in the future despite the "bait and switch" tactics employed by Jeff Eckert (and that's a direct quote FROM a Genesis senior executive about what happened to me). Note to the customer, when a Senior Executive of a company of this size is calling you daily on their personal cell phone to make sure everything is being handled correctly, you know the dealer screwed up. What is also lost on Jeff is that the $1000 he thought he was earning by not honoring that price will likely cost him much more than $1000 by not having a repeat customer, not having a customer that brings their car in for service, and by other people shying away from his dealership based on my experience and others like me that share their stories. It's a short term mindset that does not favor the customer, nor themselves. Treat your customers well and they will pay you back time and time again. Despite that, Genesis makes an amazing vehicle, one to certainly consider if you are in the BMW/Audi/MB market. You will enjoy buying it from a different dealer :) read more

I recently purchased an 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe from a source other than Eckert Hyundai. I generally try to stay as far away from car dealerships as I can. I only go to their parts departments to obtain parts that I prefer to get from the manufacturer. My first experience with Eckert was the parts department, with Bob Lentler and his crew. When I called in looking for a part for the Santa Fe I had just purchased, the person I spoke to said congratulations on my purchase and asked if I purchased it from Eckert, when I told him no, he replied you have bought a great vehicle and we will help you in anyway we can with it. He really made me fill good about buying an Hyundai. A couple of weeks later I was in the service department discussing the need to have the timing belt changed since it was past the maintenance interval and I did not know the previous owner or have any records of work that had been done. Jimmy Deleon and his crew bent over backwards to see if they could find any record of the work being done at ANY Hyundai dealer, and where to check for a sticker saying work had been done. I had been to my independent mechanic who recommended having the water pump and seals replaced also. I am used to having the water pump changed when the timing belt is changed. Jimmy explained to me the water pump does not need to be changed every time on a Hyundai. He said they would inspect the water pump and seals and only change if necessary. He then quoted me a price lower than my mechanic did since it was timing belt only,and about the same if needed pump and seals. Also said they would provide a loaner car for my wife. A couple of days later I scheduled an appointment and they did everything as promised. My wife said she was treated excellent, they had car waiting for her when she arrived, and her car was ready by the time she finished work. She got to drive a newer used Hyundai from the sales lot which she said was really nice. Bur sorry sales dept, she says she really likes her Santa Fe. I must say that I was impressed about this dealership. James from the main dealership worked with me on getting a very nice car that I saw on cars.com. I pulled up as a first time buyer with 0 credit due to never financing a vehicle before and really made it possible to drive off in a 2005 Avalon that had only 75,000 miles on it. I test drove it and was impressed with the way that it had been kept clean inside and out. My wife was even more happy on how attentive Joe and the others were toward us as we waited on paper work getting finalized. By me living in Bedford TX, I took a huge risk at driving 40+miles to possibly get this car. I would strongly recommend this dealership to anyone who is looking for a smooth, non hassle dealership. If I had known that this would have gone as great as it did, I would have bought my previous vehicle from here. Now a days it is very hard to purchase a car with all of the salesman sounding like one when you first walk into the dealership. Again if you are looking for a vehicle and you want to get it without all the extra...Go to Eckert Hyundai I am one who post reviews because people buy off of your experiences. if this one wasn't a good one trust me this would be a different post. I was a former Santa Fe owner, although I loved it, I really wanted something different. After shopping all over, I ended up at Eckert buying a new Santa Fe! We stopped by 20 minutes before closing just to look and John Wester approached us with keys in hand. He encouraged us to go ahead and take in on a test drive right then. Once we came back he sat down with us and explained all the cool features, not once did he look at his watch. He told us to take the car for the evening and come back the next day and he would make us a good deal...that he did! I love my car!. Yesterday I took it in for the first free oil change. He saw me at the service department and walked over to make sure everything was okay, I assured him it was. How sweet is that, just checking on me. One week after buying my new car, we sent my son over to buy a used car and John helped him out with a great deal as well. I have never financed anything as easy either. Both the gentlemen in the finance department were wonderful! This was the first time I have walked out of a dealership with keys in hand and not felt "ripped off"! I have suggested to them to others and they have bought there as well! Keep up the good job guys, we will be back again! read more

First off this dealership has nothing but B and C techs working here, we have never had a good experience with the Service side since purchasing a vehicle here and that is where our nightmare begins... They're so incompetent that they couldn't even complete a task as simple as an oil change. We had our oil change yesterday, went to our pre-scheduled appointment that took 2 hours to complete (insane, they have to be losing money off of incompetence.) the next morning my wife leaves for a trip and when I walk out our driveway is filled with oil. Now she's stranded due to pure incompetence and their teams inability to complete a simple task.. and they say have it towed, it isn't our problem. read more

First of all, I loathe car sales people. Secondly, our last 2 car purchases were a Honda. I really love my Hondas! We were looking at Hondas at the dealership across the road from Eckerts. Their sales person was rude and arrogant so we left and decided to look at a Hyundai because of their fantastic warranty. Like other customers we were never pressured by any of the sales people. Nick Baki was great to work with as well as James Coleman. We ended up buying a Hyundai Tucson and absolutely love it! We've only had the car for one month but if continues to perform this well, we'll come back to Eckert for our next car purchase. You can't beat their Southern Hospitality!!! read more

The Eckert service department is awesome. I brought my 2016 Hyundai Veloster in for an engine rebuild. The team provided excellent customer service. They were very patient and understanding with my busy schedule. They called routinely to let me know how my car was doing and put me in a very sporty suv. The engine rebuild only took a week, which was very impressive. Now I have my car back and it sounds and drives better than ever. I would recommend Eckert to any other Hyundai owners. Jakob Ritter, in the service department,t is an example of someone delivering excellent customer service. He was very professional in handling a bad situation---my 2011 Hyundai was involved in a recall for a faulty engine. He called to inform me of the progress of the car and when the work on the car would be completed. Jakob had my car ready a week earlier than planned. Buying experience was good but be careful on finalizing things. I specifically asked them about why the second license plate wasn't put on. Was told it wasn't required in Texas (IT IS). They did not put it in the trunk as they said they did. Now they can't find my second plate and the salesperson is no longer with them. hmmm sounds kind of fishy since no one at the dealership will communicate with me now after telling me I needed to figure it out with the DMV. read more
