Crispy calamari
Saloni M.

Rotating seasonal menu!! Went fall 2025 dinner menu featuring duck bao buns (2), pork chops (2), crispy calamari, and smores bread pudding. We don't go out much in Delaware, so friend's recommendations carry a lot of weight. Everything tasted divine. I would order all these again. The pork chops were filing enough to split between two people. Dish included pork chops (medium), crispy potatoes, Brussels sprouts, as well as sweet onions. Also, the drinks!! I love the different size glasses they come in. We got lychee sour (twist on sweet lychee martini, dirty martini (gave 6 olives :), and red wine sangria. The ambiance, the sweet servers, and the delicious food will definitely make us want to visit again for a special occasion.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience at Eclipse Bistro! The restaurant is small and quaint. Make reservations if you want a nice table. Of course, we didn't have reservations but opted to sit at the bar instead of waiting for a table. This was a great move because Andrew, the bartender did a fantastic job accommodating our needs. Unknowingly, when we arrived at 6:10 on Sunday, we were at the end of their daily happy hour. Andrew, immediately took our drink and appetizer order. I got a nice pour of crisp, dry white wine for $7. My husband ordered a smoked bourbon cocktail for $8. We also had the Brussels sprouts for $6. The drinks and appetizer were delicious! We decided to share the Eclipse burger. I am glad we did because it was huge. It was cooked perfectly! We ordered it medium and it came out juicy with a pink center, yummy. The burger came with a large portion of fresh cut, hot fries. Best burger that I have had in along time. Don't sleep on Eclipse because this restaurant is a hidden gem!

Chicken, Corn & Avocado Fritter

As you enter, the diminutive bar beckons. There's a nice selection of wines by the glass, as well as several intriguing cocktails. The adjoining dining area isn't terribly large, but the tables are quite comfortable and well-spaced. You're just far enough from your neighbors to carry on a discreet conversation, but just close enough to savor a bit of that bustling bistro bonhomie. The service, in true bistro fashion, is friendly, exceedingly knowledgeable and, even on the busiest of evenings as smooth as a Japanese railroad. The food, I would hasten to add, is as agreeably cozy as the ambience. Like the atmosphere, it's charmingly sophisticated without being the least bit stuffy... And Julia Child's maxim, inscribed above the semi-open kitchen, tells it all: "Cooking is like love, it should be entered into with abandon or not at all." To start things off, the Mushroom & Chorizo Tart is nothing sort of extraordinary. Wild mushroom ragù is companioned by spicy hits of chorizo sausage and baked in a perfectly prepared crust. The pièce de resistance, however, is the incomparable gastrique, a reduction of vinegar and sugar that can be infused with a variety of culinary options. In this case, the fortuitous ingredient of choice is sherry. It is designed to bring out the assertive flavors of a particular dish and look good while doing it. An addictive treat for both eye and palate. Equally recommended is a recently sampled daily special: the Chicken Corn & Avocado Fritter. You can always count on the Eclipse kitchen to come up with something uniquely distinctive; and the fritter most assuredly fills the bill. The batter is just the right consistency. Then, of course, there's that incredible poblano/potato cream sauce... rich, but not at all heavy or cloying... beautifully & subtly seasoned... and velvety smooth on the palate. Seldom have I sampled a dish so utterly beguiling. Kudos to the kitchen. A must try. The restaurant's salads also make excellent starters. The Caesar is quite good, though not terribly exciting. I much prefer the Bibb Lettuce spruced up with grape tomatoes pine nuts, shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano, and splash of dynamite preserved orange vinaigrette. My nod, however, goes to the Wedge Salad. This is a menu item that has recently suffered from a good deal of "ubiquitous consumption" of late. Be that as it may, Eclipse's rendition succeeds admirably where others often fail. Not only is the iceberg pristinely fresh, as you would expect, but the other accoutrements - namely the tomatoes, lardons, and creamy Stilton dressing - are more than generously applied. The latter is particularly important, as, in many eateries, you usually run out of dressing long before you run out of Wedge. No such worries here however. As you move on to the entrées, possibilities abound - all gently tweaked by the kitchen's captivating caresses. The Pan-Seared Scallops, for example, are pillowed on mushroom risotto, aided and abetted by an intriguing chorizo relish, shot of sherry gastrique, and splash of truffle oil. The Bistro Catch (fish of the chef's choosing) is presented on an island of saffron dirty rice accompanied by roasted broccoli and a zippy sauce etouffée. And speaking of matters piscatorial, nothing quite beats the extraordinary Seared Ahi Tuna. Succulently rare, it arrives at table on an island of vegetable ragout surrounded by a rich sea of smoked butternut squash purée. The crowning touch...? A stylish splash of tangy balsamic glaze. Tuna is a rather robust denizen of the deep, and the kitchen's chosen accompaniments prove to be excitingly complementary in their strong supporting roles. Meatier matters are ably represented by the likes of a hefty Black Angus New York Strip, Pan Seared Venison Loin, European Chicken Breast, and Sherry Braised Pork Shank. But if there is one entrée that is an absolute must, it is the kitchen's incomparable rendition of Pappardelle Bolognese. Its consistency is neither too dry nor too soupy, its flavors intense without being over the top, and its seasonings - including a sublime hint of tarragon - are exhilarating without being intrusive. Desserts carry on the kitchen's good work. Possibilities include a number of old favorites like Molten Chocolate Cake and S'mores Bread Pudding, as well as a top-notch Chocolate Truffle Gelato. But the table - and personal - favorite proved to be the incomparably delicious Lemon Tart Brûlée, an innovate takeoff on the traditional Crème Brûlée. The perfect conclusion to a most satisfying evening. Highly recommended on all counts, Eclipse Bistro is surely worth a journey... Well, a short road trip at the very least.

Bar area which has a fabulous happy hour. And a very happy guest.

Service was above and beyond, Patrick's our server made excellent recommendations. We went for the happy hour, but there were no empty seats at the bar. So we sat at table and ordered full price drinks and appetizers, which were all good. The ambiance is friendly and pleasant The dinner menu looked inviting, maybe next time I am in Delaware, i'll check out dinner.

Eclipse Burger (bacon, cooper, beefsteak tomato, romaine, brioche roll)

Very much enjoyed our Friday-night dinner catching up with friends at Eclipse Bistro. With the shades pulled down so the light was muted and diners weren't blinded by the setting sun, the dining room felt cozy and service was stellar. We started with a variety of Old Fashioned drinks and a delicious "No Buzz" cocktail, That's My Jam (blueberry syrup, mint, honey, lime, ginger beer), which had just the right amount of bite. We shared Crispy Calamari (crispy rings, capers, olives, tomatoes, red chili aioli) and Brussels & Cauliflower (prosciutto, marcona almonds, smoked paprika-honey vinaigrette), which were both delicious. We enjoyed the bread basket (especially the basil-y olive oil) while waiting for our entrees. Both the Crab Cakes (garlic & herb roasted potatoes*, sauteed haricot verts, lemon-dill tartar sauce) and the Eclipse Burger (bacon, cooper, beefsteak tomato, romaine, brioche roll) were well received. To cap off the meal, we indulged in port, a bread pudding, and the chocolate lava cake with espresso gelato, which everyone agreed was a must-get-again dish! Would definitely recommend, if dining in Wilmington. *Subbed out for the inviting french fries I saw circulating the dining room and was not disappointed!

We booked here for NYE and were not disappointed! The drinks were really good, and the food was not a pre fix menu. The service was excellent. Would make another NYE res and will def be back for lunch and more dinners soon!

Mocktail

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, the food was amazing, and the service was wonderful.

Espresso martini flight - regular, tiramisu, chai Regular was delicious. I think real espresso was used. Tiramisu: yum - chai was my fav!

Food was A+, i recommend the cheesesteak eggs roslls! Service was great, just slow to start because it was so busy and one bartender. Ambiance is chill and intimate.

Calamari

UPDATE: We've been here several times and largely pleased with our experiences. Today, however, our meals were a bit offbeat. I ordered crispy calamari which was not so crispy when dug out from the topping. It also was not tender as expected. It was graciously returned to the kitchen and we were not charged. The Wedge Salad was good but the lardons were over cooked and hard. My husband's Grilled Salmon Salad was served without beets -- he was told in advance the restaurant was out. He reported the salmon overcooked and salad overdressed. Maybe someone new in the kitchen? Regan has served us each time and is always pleasant and efficient.

It's more of a cup portion than the price might suggest but quite rich and delicious. We each had a salad. The pork belly crisps in the arugula salad made it a bit more filling, so consider that in ordering. I had the butter poached halibut from the regular menu. It sits upon the thin spanakopita with the sun-dried tapenade on top. The latter was intensely flavored with tomato. A beautiful presentation, but the pairing of the pungent sides with the delicate fish didn't work. My friend had the jerk seasoned hake from the special. Accompanied by a pea risotto and plantains, it was outstanding! Generous pour if you order wine by the glass and for sparkling water, they bring you an entire beautiful blue bottle of Saratoga water. Espresso is odd. Just in a regular coffee cup? With a wedge of lemon? Maybe they just make it for the ubiquitous espresso martinis. Elegant old style decor

We couldn't limit our picks and started with the Grilled Kennett Square mushrooms, Camembert with carrot caramel foam, and the chilled pea soup with mint. We also ordered the Nashville hot catfish and curry soft shell crab. The caramel foam was delicious and paired perfectly with the cheese and bread. The pea soup was refreshing and harmonized well. The mushrooms were simply delightful. The catfish was cooked extremely well, with the crust (with a corn meal crust?) remaining crunchy and the fish juicy, with the seasonings on point and spicy. The curry soft shelled crab was the winner among many winning choices and was perfect. We couldn't stop raving about it. We enjoyed it so much, we overindulged and ordered the lamb. The meat was exceptionally soft, even for rack of lamb. Unable to resist the dessert menu, we finished with the rhubarb sorbet with basil water and granola. My wife is not a fan of rhubarb or basil, but also loved the dessert and its balance and uniqueness. The service was excellent and attentive, and the restaurant is very cute and cozy. My wife has worked in restaurants for years and we were both thoroughly impressed by the execution and care for all the items we ordered. It's one thing to have a creative and unique menu, it's another thing entirely to have that level of execution for it. Thank you!

Purchasing the suggested pairings (ahead of time) added to the overall experience. We also had wines that were brought on preference and the paired wines won out every time as they perfectly complemented the prepared courses. Our two servers were friendly and attentive, explaining every course and refilling our wines without asking. Present, yet out of the way. The atmosphere is very cozy in the back of the cafe at Talula's Table - the original table as opposed to the smaller kitchen table added a few years back. Reservations still take a year (though it's easier to snag a cancelation or weekday as they recently added online reservations in April 2026). However, it was well worth the wait (and I'm not sure why I waited so long to try it)! We left stuffed between the hors d'oevres, eight courses, bread, surprise course, and plenty of wine to wash everything down.
