Not gonna lie, I was very weary about bringing my dog here. It just didn't seem like it was ever open or like anyone ever went in, and yea it did kind of look like a dump. I had my doubts, but then Angela went and convinced me to give them a try. So I called to make an appointment. Make sure you take note of the hours when doing so. When I brought my dog, I noticed the entrance was cluttered. That kind of bothered me since I'd like uncluttered spaces. The workstations are within view and you can see other dogs getting groomed. Now, this isn't a negative review, I'm just trying to show that looks can be deceiving because they were really great with me and my pups. They took the time to get to know him and for his size, the price was more than right. The ladies are friendly and knowledgeable not only about grooming but also on other issues. I go here just for walk-in nail clippings and here's why: My biggest problem with this place is their hours: open Tuesday-Wednesday-Friday-Saturday and close at a different time every day? I have to go look up on their website just to make sure I come at the right time! And yesterday I showed up (after double-checking their store hours) to find a dark shop with a sign that says "closed till Saturday". How do you run a business like this? For grooming I go to Head-to-Tail in Elmhurst since their are open 6 days a week at consistent times like a regular business. But they charge $7 for just nail clippings and its convenient for me to just walk to Eclipse for nails ($5) so that why I have been still going here. But if I can't even rely on them to be open during the random hours that they say they are, I am beginning to rethink coming here at all. read more

This is the place to bring your dog or cat if they are in need of a bath or nail trim. The staff is friendly and professional and in some cases, know more about pet care than my Vet! They also carry a great line of pet food and treats, so it's one stop shopping. The ladies did a great job with my westie, despite him being difficult they did say he definitely "learned" to be groomed, and will get better as time goes on. Consistency is key. My westie is persnickity when it comes to grooming around the face but for what they could do for him far exceeded my expectations compared to what other groomers have done in the past. Not sure how I feel about this place, but that could be my fault. I live nearby here and have been looking for a good dog grooming place. I loved the haircut my pup got at Petsmart, but they are pretty expensive. I've tried out another local place but didn't really like the way my dog's hair was cut. I debated going back to Petsmart but I thought I'd give this place a try since it was so close and probably cheaper. I'm taking my dog on a road trip next week and I wanted him to look his best for when he meets some of my relatives. Since Eclipse has hours that don't fit my schedule, I could only bring him in on a Saturday. Luckily they had an opening so I made an appointment. Last time my dog got his hair cut at a different place, it was really choppy and I didn't like it. His hair has since grown, and in order to make sure that he wouldn't get too much taken off for fear it might happen again, I told the stylist I just wanted a trim on him. I came back four hours later after he got the whole treatment: wash, cut, nail clipping, anal glands, ear cleaning. He looked basically the same. Hmpf. The only difference was that he was fluffier somehow. He looked like one of those show dogs in the dog competitions that have their hair poofed out to make them look regal. To be fair, it could have been my fault for saying I just wanted him to get a trim, but I can't lie and say I was entirely happy with his cut. There were still big chunks of stray hair that are sticking out that I hoped wouldn't be after his cut. Everyone there is really nice, but it just wasn't what I was looking for. It looks like Petsmart is the only place I really like for his hair. Shocking, I know. I think I'll give Eclipse another shot in the summer when he'll need his hair shorter and see what they do. I don't like giving up on local businesses so we'll see what happens next time. Oh, and they still get kudos for walk-in $5 nail clippings, which my other dog often needs. read more

when I arrived home I noticed my palms and fingers were smeared with blood! These groomers cut my dog and did not mention anything to me!

The people who run this business are rude and unprofessional. I called for an appointment and the person answering the phone kept having to "ask the groomer" and would talk to the groomer with the phone within earshot. The groomer made several ignorant remarks about customers and sounded like she had a fourth grade education with a third grade attitude. No amount of talent is going to make up for poor customer service. I will never consider using them. They really deserve NO stars. read more

This place is great. Bettter than petsmart - and more cost conscious, because the fee for the bath is lower but also they are not constantly trying to sell you something. It has that downtown village feel to it, and they return your buddy back to you with a pretty little bow or collar sleeve. In addition - EXTREMELY accomodating to our crazy schedules. This place is the BIZZZZZ!!! I have only brought my dog here twice and I think I will use them foreversss! It is a small little corner shop on Villa across from the 7-11 and it's owned by the mom of girls I went to school with. Yeah...we keep it local up in VP. She is the nicest lady and knows her shit when it comes to pets. Both times I needed to get Rex in she was able to squeeze me in at the last minute, first time for a full groom and the second time for a de-skunking treatment and wash. And both times my dog came home happy, not drugged like some other places have done to pets I know. Anddd she even gave me the name of a guy to come to my house to "take care" of these damn skunks in my yard! Holla!! I see myself being a lifelong Eclipse customer and will recommend them to everyone I know with a pet! =] read more

This is my first time using Eclipse for my dog. They did a wonderful job and were less expensive than our previous groomer. Probably the best grooming my Wheaten has had. I gave Eclipse 5 stars but would have given it more had I been able. I have been bringing our dogs for 13 years. We have 4 dogs and would not bring them to any other dog grooming business. Let me start out by saying that Deb actually saved our dog's life. She discoved a tumor that our dog had while she was grooming our dog. The tumor was under her tail near her rearend where you don't usually look let alone touch. We brought our dog to the vet that same day. Our dog was operated on and is alive today because of Deb. Deb, the owner, has always done a great job on our dogs. I told her how I wanted the dogs fur cut and she did it. Our dogs are English setters so usually they have a longer cut, I however didn't have time to take care of their fur so I asked her to cut their fur shorter. She was wonderful when our one dog was older and health problems also. . Her prices are more than fair. My daughters always look forward to the dogs coming back because they smell so good and look cute with the new collar cover and bows that she puts in their fur. She offers healthy dog food and treats that are good for dogs also. We recently went to training class that is offered too with our new dog. She is very knowledgeable about dogs. She is also a breeder. She breeds Golden Retrievers. We bought one of her dogs. Her dogs' temperments are wonderful. As a matter of fact she was the breeder of 7 of the 10 comfort dogs sent down to Newtown Conn. from Luthern Charities. She is not opened on Mondays and doesn't take credit cards which has not been a problem read more

I've been taking my chihuahuas here for nail trimming. It's walk in, they do a good job, and can't beat the price. I've recently started fostering a long haired dog who needed a trim, so I took her here. This is the first time I've gotten a dog groomed, so it was all new to me. I dropped her off in the morning and picked her up after a few hours. She looks like a whole new dog! Fluffy and with a pretty new color and bows in her ears. Such a great experience! My dog was skunked early one morning and we could just not get out the smell. I called Eclipse around 7 and they were able to fit him in that morning. I have been going to Eclipse for years. I started with boxers and mainly just got the nails done. Debbie was always very pleasant and would take my dogs on a drop-in basis. She gave me a hair blower once and I still have it. She didn't have to do this. Now I have 3 Shih Tzu and Dru does an excellent job on them. Sometimes I get the full service and sometimes I just need the nails done. Dru always trims between the eyes and the privates and pads and feet when I only get their nails trimmed. This is just an excellent grooming shop and the prices are very reasonable. I am a breeder and have sent several people to Eclipse and they seem to love it. I like to patronize local small businesses and Eclipse is an asset to Villa Park. read more

I took my puppy in for their "puppy grooming" package. The service was good. The hair cut and claw clipping looked very professional. The reason for only 1 star was not because of service, which was above average. However, when I went to pick up my dog I witnessed one of the employees treating another dog inappropriately, borderline abusively. A medium size dog was in a pin close to the counter where I was standing. He/she was barking, nothing out of control. The employee then threw a small black bean bag looking thing at the dog and yelled something to the extent of, 'I have three more of these waiting for you if you don't shut-up'. It was clear that her intention was to throw the bean bag at the dog and inflict pain. If she was willing to do this in the presence of a customer, who knows what she would do when by herself. There is absolutely no way I would trust them with my pet after witnessing behavior like this. If for some reason the owner of a medium sized black dog who was being groomed on 3/28/12 in the afternoon reads this, it was your pet who had bean bags thrown at him/her. Please do not subject you dog to this place again. read more

I WAS a regular customer at Eclipse for the last year or so. Today, I called and asked if I could get in for an emergency grooming (my Labradoodle got into a sticker bush). I heard the person who answered the phone ask someone else if they knew me. The other person said no and I was then told they had no openings until next week. Completely rude and insensitive to my dogs needs. I then called another local groomer whom I've never been to. They were full too, but they asked what was the problem, and when I told them, they said bring your dog in at 1pm, we will squeeze her in, she shouldn't have to wait till next week with stickers on her face. It is not that Eclipse couldn't see my dog, I can understand schedules and such. It's how they treated a customer. I won't go back to Eclipse and I will be sure to pass on this bad treatment to all my friends. read more

Going to this groomer for 3 plus years - was fairly satisfied however today they butchered my dogs hair- took more than 4 hours which is usually only 1 hour and cut his ear and never said a word when I picked him up- my dog is a Yorkie and they shaved his entire body and head- he looks like a giant bald mess- he left there shaking and obviously traumatized- I called them and expressed my grief and concerns with the owner who was very cold and truly lacked any compassion or concern- I will never go there or recommend it to anyone- The excuses the owner gave for cutting his ear was he moved and was cut with the clippers- the bad details of his hair cut she will add notes to his card- Shame on you Eclipse. I hope people see how incompetent and insensitive to animals you are. The ultimate excuse for the bad cut was " the groomer that clips him was on vacation" Really- aren't you all supposed to be groomers??? read more

I went to eclipse because my mom has been taking her 3 (yes 3) doberman to eclipse for years now. My pup is so excited when we pull up to eclipse and always comes back a happy, clean puppy! I am the owner of the black dog Tyler D is referencing. He is a 75lb Belgian sheepdog, not what I would call medium sized. I work at Eclipse. He is there every day I am. Unfortunately for him, he has an uncontrollable mouth and he is intelligent enough to know when I am not standing right near him to correct him. Trust me, the bean bags only distract him momentarily, He has also worn jingle bells on his collar which helps for a short time. Again his intelligence works against him since once he figures out how to bark without moving his neck, they no longer are effective. A bark collar will not work simply because there is too much random barking from other dogs, and it sets it off, so it is just cruel and not effective. He can be disruptive at times, so he gets yelled at a lot. However he is a Belgian sheepdog, barking is in his nature as well as wanting to always be with his human, so leaving him home is not an option for me. I love this job because I can work with dogs (has been my passion since I was young) and I have the ability to bring my dogs with me to work. We do many special needs dogs, we have been told that we have more patience with them than most groomers do. As you mentioned, you had no complaints about the grooming of your dog. We strive to give people and their dogs the respect they deserve. Sometimes my own dog's barking can make another dog feel uncomfortable and he needs to be reprimanded. I'm sorry you were offended by my dog. If he could he would say he's sorry very LOUDLY. read more

these people are awful. they are RUDE. as I was paying they told me to make sure I tip because my dog was the "worst dog ever". I've never had a groomer complain about my 20 lb calm dog before. the haircut was awful and my dog was a nervous wreck. they held him down and the place is very unsanitary. THE HAIRCUTS ARE AWFUL. Best Dog Groomer around. I have had dogs my entire life, and with that comes with groomers. I currently have three Dobermans that have been going to Eclipse for the last three years. They love it there. All I have to say is lets go see Debbie, and they jump in the car. These are three 100+ lbs dogs, that not only love their groomer, but cant wait to be there. Most groomers would shy away from one Doberman, my three are welcome with love and attention, they come back home happy and smelling great and with perfect nails. All three go at the same time and have never had any complaints. I highly recommend Eclipse to everyone I know. They treat each dog with love and attention. Shocked is putting this mildly! I walked into the groomers for the first time today and saw a little poodle hanging by his neck with no one around! I yelled hello and hey for about one minute. I could see a woman in the back giving a large dog a bath who could not hear me. I continued to yell to get someone's attention and finally the lady bathing the dog came out. Just at that time the poodle broke free and fell to the ground and hid. I told the lady what happened and her comment was "we'll she only walked away for a second". I was yelling for almost a minute and told her I would not give her my business. I felt terrible that this poodle was screaming and no one helping. That image is now burnt into my head :-( those actions are so unprofessional and that poodle could have been seriously injured! I live one block away and now moving to Naperville so I will search for a groomer there read more

I have been a customer of eclipse for many many years. I have always had 3 dogs needed to be groomed. Never once did one of them get a bad groom. The girls listen and the dogs have been groomed as i wanted. They come out to my car and return the dogs to my car because I can't do it. The shop is bright. It is good to see how they groom the dogs and how they handle the dogs because they are not groomed in a back room. The collar covers excite my grandchildren. They can't wait to see what the collars will look like and they love the bows. read more

Any who, first & last time I'll take my dog there because he catched an itching disease. All for trying to save money! I tried this groomer for 1st time recently. For $60 they were supposed to give my dog a full groom which includes ear plucking/cleaning, nail trim wash and cut. They did not clean or pluck his ears or cut his nails?! Will never go back. read more

Usually back within five hours (for all three dogs who all have long hair) and they are great about accommodating our schedule. I took my dog there today to get his nails trimmed as I am new to the area, the place was dirty, I told the lady at my desk I needed my dogs nails trimmed and requested a dremel be used as it is less painful for dogs. I called before going and I was told no appointment was necessary for nail trims. The woman spoke out to everyone "Can someone trim nails?" and none of the employees answered her, we waited a few minutes and she asked again, finally one groomer said she would do it and I specified I wanted the dremel used and she questions me why and I told her. At no time was anyone friendly to my dog, they just put him on the table and did his nails. I paid the $5.00 and gave them a $2.00 tip. When I got in the car, all of his nails were trimmed on an angle (not straight across as they should be) and they were all still long because of the angle. I decided not to go back in but called when I got home to relay my disappointment and the woman that did his nails answered the phone and I explained my frustration and she said "well you can bring him back if you want" with an attitude like she didn't care. I don't know about anyone else but my dogs are my "children" their was no care or quality no friendliness by anyone, in fact one of the groomers was in my opinion being mean to one of the dogs because he wasn't doing what SHE wanted him to.
