I was really surprised to stumble upon this big, spacious local bodega/grocery store just a block…read moreor two from the beach. It's unexpectedly large for a place by the shore, and I was thrilled because even though I checked Yelp and Google, I couldn't find much info. They're open super early and stay open late, and it's just such a gem especially since that area tends to shift toward restaurants or other businesses. This neighborhood really needed a good grocery store, and they have everything: fresh meat, drinks, snacks, fruits just like a full local grocery. The staff was really nice and laid-back, though the only downside is that parking is super limited and intersection it's tough to get in and out since it's near a small with a red light. Still, I'm really glad it's there, and I want to give a big shout-out to the local folks to support this place. The prices are really reasonable, and we need to keep these local businesses thriving. they're the heart of the community. I gave them five stars. I just hope they can clean it up a bit inside, maybe freshen up the shelves or ceiling. But overall, I'm so happy it's here, and we need more of these places in our city.

I didn't even need to walk all the way inside and I knew this was going to be "the place." They consistently forget major components like condiments or vegetables that are clearly listed in the sandwich description. Lately I've had to remind them or ask for extras just to get what is supposed to come standard. Today it happened again. I asked for oil and vinegar and received a dry, inedible sandwich. When I called to explain that this has happened multiple times, the person I spoke with essentially called me a liar, insisting it had been added, despite the fact that there was no oil on any of the wrappers. When I asked how they planned to make it right, especially given the astronomical prices they charge for sandwiches, I was told they might give me extra oil and vinegar next time and possibly a bag of chips. Nice customer service. Great idea to throw digs at loyal customers. Super smart. The new ownership the past few years is disappointing. It's unfortunate because we live just a few blocks away and come here often. When I order something, I expect to receive what I ordered and I certainly do not expect to be talked down to when there is a mistake on the deli's part. We have spent so much money there over the years but no more. PS they are always super pushy with asking for a tip when you pick up your sandwich too and most of the staff become irritated when you press the "no button" and give you a weird attitude....talk about an environment that's the opposite of your friendly neighborhood grocery store. They should be called greedy's not granny's!

I searched my favorite high end grocery stores, but I had to either pay $100/lb or wait until after new years. I only need 1 or 2 legs for my small batch of Christmas cioppino. I saw an ad for Pavilions - king crab on sale for about $70/lb. I called right away and Robert was kind enough to set aside a couple legs. Not colossal king but king crab nonetheless. I was grateful, thanks Robert! My cioppino was killer delicious, my Italian grandmother would be proud. I must remember Pavilions next time I need some extra awesome service. I've been in the South Bay for about four years, and my husband has been here for over 20. This location used to be our go to when it was Vons. The employees were always friendly, welcoming, and you would see the same familiar faces. It was consistently a good experience. Since the transition to Pavilions, the customer service has noticeably gone downhill. The last few visits haven't been great, and today was especially frustrating. At checkout, I had all my groceries on the belt and clearly needed more space, but instead of continuing to move things along, the cashier was having a conversation with another employee across the way about someone named Bella while I was standing there waiting. I was completely ignored until I had to interrupt just to get my items rung up. There also seems to be a lack of care when handling groceries, which adds to the overall experience. It's disappointing, especially considering prices have gone up since the change. You would expect better service, not the opposite. Hoping management brings back the level of customer service this location used to have.

The bread was toasted just right, the sauerkraut had great balance, and everything came together exactly how a classic Reuben should. The vibe is laid-back, service is friendly, and it's the kind of local spot you end up craving again a few days later. If you're in Hermosa Beach and looking for a great sandwich, especially a Reuben with pastrami, The Green Store is a must. I'll definitely be back to work my way through more of the menu.

She went above and beyond in every possible way, helping us think through menu recommendations, accommodating an early pickup so everything would be ready for our girl's special day, and even proactively adding thoughtful presentation touches that we didn't ask for but truly made the day feel extra special. As first time parents planning our first birthday, that meant everything :) And the food is unreal. Always fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared. A great assortment of sandwiches and sides made with fresh bread, top-quality meat and veggies (*Side note: They have the best Italian sub in the South Bay. No contest.) If you're considering this place for catering or just grabbing a sandwich on the way to the beach, don't hesitate. A true South Bay gem with outstanding food, great people, and thoughtful service every time.

It has generally been a place I've enjoyed and recommended, which is why this stood out. There's always been some normal inconsistency in portion. Some days the fish is bigger, some days smaller. Same with the shrimp, sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less. That never bothered me. It's part of a busy seafood counter, and I've never felt the need to say anything. What I got today was different. The fish taco was on the small side and dry, but the shrimp taco was the issue. It was served fried, very dark, and overcooked to the point the shrimp was tough. When I opened it after a few bites, I realized I was mostly eating tortilla and toppings. There were only about three shrimp total, which is noticeably less than what I've consistently received here before. In prior visits, I've also been asked whether I want my tacos grilled or fried, including the shrimp, and I've consistently chosen the lighter, non-fried option. What I received today was not that. I approached the counter politely and simply said the taco wasn't good, pointing out the quality and portion issue. I wasn't trying to make a scene and I'm not someone who returns food, especially over something this small. I was more pointing it out so it didn't keep happening. I was told nothing could be refunded because I had taken a few bites, so I asked to speak with a manager. That's where this went sideways. Instead of listening, the manager immediately dismissed it. She repeatedly told me that what I described was "not possible," insisted they have never prepared shrimp any differently in her 27 years there, and said they only ever serve three shrimp. As someone who has ordered this exact item many times, I was essentially being told that my own experience did not happen. The conversation ended with me being asked to leave. I've worked in and managed restaurants. Mistakes and inconsistencies happen. This was a simple situation that could have been handled in seconds, either by replacing the taco or offering a refund. Instead, it was denied outright and escalated. This wasn't about a $5 taco. It was about how it was handled. Being told that your repeated experience is "not possible" and then being asked to leave is not an acceptable way to handle a reasonable concern.
