A salesman rang my bell and talked me into signing up with Ecoshield with a promise of responsive service. When I signed up for Ecoshield I was having a major problem with carpenter bees. I shared that information when the 1st tech. came. The treatment did not work and the bees continued to be present. A 2nd tech was sent a couple of weeks after the 1st one. That treatment didn't work either. I contacted Ecoshield. I received a reply dismissing my concern, and I was informed it would be addressed at my first quarterly treatment. Based on an email I received today, I was informed a tech came at 3:30pm on June 7, 2023. I was home, and no tech. rang my bell, and since no information was provided as to what was supposedly done, I have no idea if any attempt was made to mitigate the bees. My experience with Ecoshield has been disappointing. When the current contract is completed I want to cancel my contract and definitely don't want to renew it. I wish I could cancel now without penalty, but I'm sure Ecoshield would not allow that. Same experience as many of the other reviews on here. Guy rang the doorbell even with numerous 'no soliciting' signs up on our property. Claimed many neighbors told him that we were new in the neighborhood...creepy. Didn't even say where he was from I just caught it on his shirt. UPDATE: 6/15/20 I sent my cancellation request within the 3 business day requirement, and they called today (Mon) and although they offered to make it right, I insisted that they simply cancel the contract as requested. I have now received confirmation of the cancellation. That part of this experience was properly handled. AJG EcoShield Pest Solutions - North DC Since being taken in by false and misleading sales tactics, I am realizing from online reviews (Yelp and BBB MD) that your company is not one which I want to be associated.  Your rep (Tyler) went from door to door forearmed with community names which he implied were using your service.  In fact, I was told by one resident that he (Tyler) stated "the Gills have been customers for years, and I love talking with them.  They are so funny!"  A boldfaced lie perpetrated simply to gain another sale through deception.    Your rep, Tyler, told us all our neighbors had complained of carpenter bees and that we had them also.  He pointed to wasp nests under my second story eves and said "I see 3 or 4 nests up there now.  We will knock those down and treat the area".  They did not knock down or treat those nests.  They are still there with active bees/wasps on them.  Tyler said they would treat the "lawn" with a safe natural tick killer.  Their definition of 'lawn' apparently is about six feet from our front steps.  Our lawn is about an acre front and back.  I imagine any treatment bug "spray" (I observed none) is simply water.  That would be natural after all!  I did not detect any odor at all after your 'team' left following about 10 min at the house, so that is why I suspect any treatment was just water. Just so this is not totally negative, I have to say your technician did a good job dusting the cobwebs on the front door.  I hardly think that was worth $139 however.   I am exercising my right to cancel within 3 business days following the day of order, said contract immediately (I was not given a contract number BTW).  I will not contest the $139 payment for the first haphazard treatment, but refuse any further treatments or charges to my method of payment.   Please confirm receipt of this request and confirmation of contract cancellation.   Sincerely,  Arthur J Gill read more

This place is very dishonest. We had them come to inspect our yard because of the lumps. The sales people tell us it is one thing and then the technicians say they were wrong and tell us something else. They have lied to us about the cost of the services, and the services being preformed are not working at all. It says in the contract they offer free touch ups if they missed something, but we have still been paying full price for services that are not working at all. Juan in the customer service office was quite rude, transferred to a nice lady and then transferred to Bryan who was sarcastic at one point. Poor communication as well from technicians. We will not be renewing our contract, and give them a horrible recommendation, and will be telling all of our neighbors not to use them. 0/10 read more

Had a door to door salesman stop by from this company and unfortunately accidentally answered the door thinking it was a package. Here's how the conversation went: Him: Hi, are you the homeowner? Me: Yes. Him: Is your husband home? Me: ... No. Him: Would you consider yourself equals? Me: ???? Yes? Him: *Proceeds to do his sales pitch* It was absolutely bizarre, why ask if I'm the homeowner and then immediately ask if my husband is home? I could be a single homeowner, LGBTQ, own the home with someone who is not a romantic partner, could have recently LOST a partner, etc. My partner and I aren't married yet but it is incredibly insensitive and unprofessional to assume that every single homeowner is married and heterosexual. If that's part of your company's sales script it should be changed to something more appropriate. ALSO it is incredibly rude to ask me if I consider myself an equal to my boyfriend/partner? It is 2021, not 1950, and I'm not sure if your company is aware but women and feminine-presenting people are human beings with equal rights to men. As several people have said, EcoShield's business model itself is quite shady - all reputable and successful businesses send predatory/sleazy/untrustworthy young men door to door with a script... The treatments I've had don't appear to have served any purpose, as I haven't seen any difference in the small amount of random insects I see outside my house. After a few months of people coming by my home at inconvenient times to allegedly spray their product, I stopped responding to their aggressive requests to update my info and schedule another appointment. I assume people cancel their service with EcoShield pretty regularly, so I figured they would eventually get the hint. I'm only finally providing a public critique of the this horrible company because I just got off the phone with someone who called and followed one of the used car salesmen tactics they must instill at orientation (although I really doubt a company this disreputable provides any training to its employees) and acted like he was "wrapping up in my area" for the day and wanted to squeeze me in when he was back tomorrow. I went along with it to see just how far they'd go and after repeatedly telling him I'd have to check my schedule and couldn't just make an appointment because he was calling, he told me it would be good if I could do that now while we were on the phone, I obviously ended the call (after the representative got an attitude, of course). To summarize, EcoShield is ineffective, shady, and unprofessional. If they come to your door (as all successful companies do...), just ignore them. If they start banging and kicking on your door (I wouldn't put it past them), just ignore them. read more

Wish I read reviews before signing the contract. This company hire dishonest sales people. They offered a service with a discount for 2 treatments followed by bimonthly payments. He also offered I can leave the contract with no penalty. Both misrepresentations of the actual service. They came and did the first treatment (friendly operator, no complaints her on his work) then mentioned I can use an additional service within 10 days if I call to the phone the sales guy gave me ...no answer . I call the central office to schedule a second treatment thinking it will be free. I was wrong they cherged my credit card for bimonthly service. I called to cancel my contract. Here is the main problem, they send you to wait for there cancellation department which never answers back so the representative tell you they will call you back. I sent texts on the phone, emails requesting cancellation...nothing. Call more times and put on hold again with the same tactics to avoid me to cancel. They said they will charge $150 cancellation fee which at this time a was willing to pay so I don't have to deal with this dishonest company. I finally talk to a supervisor and spent 30 minute telling her to cancel my account...they tried to lure me with discounts and follow a script no mother how many time you tell them you want to cancel... This is a very dishonest business practice. I will definitely do to recommend to anyone. Other users have mentioned similar problems with this company also some have reported they operate with no permits from the county/city to do this work. Avoid this company at all cost. DO NOT USE ECOSHIELD! I'm super unimpressed with my recent service, the technicians were only here for 9 minutes (they told company 30-35 minutes), and did a pretty poor job while here, one did a quick exterior brush to knock down webs, and the other did a quick granule spread by hand near the walkway, and then a quick spot treatment with a sprayer near the foundation and some doorways and were in the truck and gone within 9 minutes of me meeting them at the door. Also, the description of services from signing up were not the same as when I called to ask what I was supposed to expect, the amount of work was different, lawn granule became 6 feet from walkway, full house barrier became spot treatment, inspection for pests became none. Also, I called and left a voicemail, and sent an email and didn't get a response, had to call back again to finally get a hold of someone. They also required a "cancellation fee" of you to pay back any discount of the service from when they signed you up, even though I thought the service sucked in the first place. So you have to pay for the whole treatment even if they didn't do it properly just to cancel them from coming back and screwing you over again, talk about a scam. scam alert!!! second time this week they knocked on my door, even though i have a no soliciting sign clearly affixed to door. salesman stated that he has left over materials from my neighbor and will do job at cost. very hard sell - salesman kept talking even after being told to leave the premises several times. when i said i was calling the company, he stated "go ahead" we get 50 calls a day to complain, so your wasting your time. just spoke with my other neighbor and he got the same story. he had to tell the solicitor several times to leave as well. these guys obviously do not know the law.. q; is it illegal to knock on a door with a no soliciting sign? a; solicitors are required by law to check for "no soliciting" signs and leave the premises without knocking or ringing the doorbell if such a sign is in place. solicitors are also required to register with the city in order to obtain an annual certificate and identification badge. read more

I have been calling them for the last 3 weeks telling them I had a lot of green flys in my backyard. Door to door sales claiming that neighbors sign up, when they actually didn't. Signing an agreement for a year, with a breakage fee. I would not repeat the mistake. Personally, we didn't think the treatments were that effective or thorough, and did not notice a decrease in insects or wasps. $185 is the standard charge per treatment. We did shop around after the fact and found that $85 - $120 was probably closer to reality in our area. Would not recommend or continue service with EcoShield. First, the pushy salesboy told me that as part of the deal, they would come one month after the initial service FREE OF CHARGE to make sure all pests and eggs were exterminated. They didn't do that and instead had me pay full price again. So for the month of August and September I paid $270 with all the bugs still around. Second, when I called to cancel because there were still pests in and around my home AND I was charged again, they informed me that I would have to pay hundreds of dollars in order to cancel because of the "deal" I signed up for. They expect me to pay them ALL THE SAVINGS that I supposedly saved before I can end the service. Needless to say, terrible company and terrible service. Do not use this company unless you would like to pay money to keep the pests in and around your house or give them even more money to let you cancel. After they finished with their over-hyped "all natural" treatment, I was $169 poorer, and our ant, spider, and hornet population was at an all-time high. They also offered additional help to rectify the situation but I was happy with what felt like a genuine apology and a satisfactory resolution. These door to door sales tactics are very irresponsible especially during a pandemic. MANY of our neighbors and surrounding neighborhoods were VERY creeped out by the salesmen that confronted us. No soliciting is allowing at these neighborhoods yet here they are. Extremely pushy to the point where it is very uncomfortable. Also forcing themselves in our backyard was extremely creepy and made it seem that they were casing the area. I should report this company, to be completely honest. And to top it all off, he is going around door to door without a mask! Completely and utterly irresponsible, unacceptable, and wrong! Then he went back to $100 to come back every two month with no obligation for cancellation. 30 minutes later, a girl came back for signing up the agreement but said there's $150 cancellation fees. The company sells door-to-door and I should have known not to trust them. They gave me pricing for what they sold as a 1 time service and scheduled the appointment for the following day at 11. At 11:00 the original salesperson came to tell me they we're running 30 minutes late. They then showed up at 12:00. What they said would be a 40 minute treatment took around 5 minutes and the additional time was spent trying to get me to purchase other products/services and tricking me into signing into a service contract. As one person was collecting payment and the other was talking about the history of ants, the third person asked me to sign for today's services which was actually for a service contract I was never advised of, never given pricing for and didn't want. When they we're still in my home I told them I wanted to cancel, which they told me I had to call the main office for. Before doing so, I called the sales person who told me I must have misunderstood but he clearly didn't tell me anything about the service contract. He also said he would cancel it, but I should still call the office. I then called the office and after being hung up on twice, I was called back and told I would get a call. I was frustrated and upset by being taken advantage of and the caller was extremely condescending for what was clearly a fraud. He told me I didn't read the terms and conditions and it was my fault. They said they're cancelling the service but I'm sure will try charging more for the service that was done in my home today. My suggestion would be to work with a local company in your neighborhood with good reviews and don't get taken advantage of by this company and their shady sales methods. read more
