Business is a scam. They will meet in person and tell you since they work the neighborhood, they will give you a deal since they are already there . Brandon explained the first application would spray around the home to flush out the insects and the second touch up application would be 30 days later . I was told the first payment /appointment covered both applications and if a "touch up " was necessary I could call and the tech would respond. That was a bold face lie. Ecoshield charged me for each application and refused to cancel my service unless I payed the added $250 annual commitment. Elvin also refused to transfer me to a supervisor and just kept trying to offer me deals and discounts . DO NOT use this company! The worst. They came to my house to offer their services and insisted. I mentioned that I was planning on selling my home. They said, "No problem. You get a discount by signing an annual agreement, but if you don't move to an area we service, you call to cancel it." When I called to cancel the service, they said I had to pay $150 as a penalty fee. At that time, I didn´t have a new physical address. As of a week after my cancellation, they have sent very harassing messages to my email and via text message, putting a lot of pressure on me to pay, including the fact that at this point, they are sending my account to a collector. Once I had my physical address, I contacted them to tell them, and then I sent proof of my new address via text and e-mail, but they kept sending me messages. It took two months and several messages and phone calls to finally get them to remove the balance from my account. During the time I received services, we were always on time to pay the bill, but now they are sending very aggressive messages. I haven´t experienced that from other companies. Noted on multiple occasions where there was no attention to detail and missed areas. Conveniently the replies to the post-application surveys went unaddressed and we did not receive a follow-up from their customer service when we responded to those surveys negatively and asked for someone to contact us (shocking I know...) When contacting their local office for contract cancellation - games were played. First offer - can reduce your service to $150.00 / application, then $125.00 per application, then $99.00 per application. Really? You can "magically" offer $99 instead of $179.00 per application? Just be advised too, that there is a significant markup in their services, they are not a good value and are bordering on predatory behavior as others are referencing in these reviews. This company is a complete scam. They send a sales rep to your house and make all of these promises and talk up the service and how many pests their service covers. The staff they have come out to your house are there for no more than 10 minutes, spray nothing that works in the slightest and still charge $149/service. You call to cancel and they keep you on the phone forever and reduce the cost of their service all the way down to under $100/service. They'll also tell you your plan doesn't cover mosquitos even though the sales rep promised that it does. What type of pest control service doesn't cover mosquitos? Especially for $149/service. Please do not use this pest control company. They are an absolute scam, and their product does not work in the slightest. read more

Ecoshield is a scam. They claim they can provide certain services - saying yes to whatever you ask them- only to find out that it cannot be done. There is a photo on their social media claiming they can reach a wasp nest 60 feet up - which is why I enrolled- but they've now sent 3 agents to our home all of which have said "we cannot do this". It's 40 feet. One day after we signed up and now Ecoshield is trying to charge us a few hundred dollars to cancel even though they've never been able to provide service. They've also provided a service description that includes services that never happened. On top of this, they've harassed our neighbors trying to push this service on them. Guys did good job initially, second service was one month later, was charged again $170.. started seeing mouse poop in our basement before the next scheduled appointment. Was quoted "bare minimum" $500 for them to fix the problem. Told them I didn't want to move forward with that service, we'd do repairs ourselves. Salesman John called 3 times left messages to call him directly to schedule service. I called and left message letting him know our decision to not do his quote of repairs and he showed up at my house hours later unannounced. Knocked on my garage door, spun a story that he was confused and thought I wanted the service done. Very pushy tactics, bizarre way to sell services and borderline harassment. Guy knew I just had a new born, and have two large dogs. Showing up unannounced is completely unprofessional and creepy! "Sorry I woke your baby" ... as my child screams out when the dogs go crazy bc of the unexpected visitor. TL;DR - Pest control services worked well, but their customer service is disgraceful and cancelling early is extremely difficult, even after an unexpected traumatic life event. Would rate 1 star, but I'm giving 2 because the pest control solved the problems I was having. I had EcoShield for a little over a year. They offered a $200 discount on some fees for signing on with a 2-year contract, so I did, as I was planning to be in my apartment for a few years. (This is offered on the condition that you have to pay the $200 back if you cancel the service early.) While I had the service, the pest control worked well. Hardly ever saw any bugs, especially the ants I was having problems with before signing up. However, my apartment caught on fire (not as a result of the pest control) a few weeks ago and became uninhabitable. I called to cancel my service because I obviously wouldn't be living at my address anymore. EcoShield offered to pause my service for a few months but I politely declined, as my new apartment I'll be moving into is owned by a property management company that already has their own pest control service, so I would no longer need EcoShield's services. After 4 attempts (and 30 minutes) of explaining to the customer service rep why I no longer needed service and why I wanted to cancel service instead of pause it, the customer service rep reminds me of the $200 fee that I'll be charged for cancelling early (despite my apartment having just caught on fire). They continue to insist on pausing service until I move to my new apartment. I even verbally agreed to pay the $200 fee, as it would be cheaper than paying for another 6 services that I don't need at the new apartment. After being on hold for a few minutes, the customer service rep informs me that they will cancel my service, and that if I send photo proof of the fire to customercare@theshieldco.com, they will waive the $200 cancellation fee. I sent the pictures within 30 minutes of hanging up the phone. While the customer service rep was in the process of cancelling my service, they sent me a link to leave a Google review and to mention their name, as positive reviews affect their bonuses and help them win some competition going on in the office that week. The customer rep was very pushy about completing the review while I was still on the phone with them, which wasn't a good look, after already feeling annoyed by the painful process of re-explaining 4 times why I wanted to cancel. Fast forward 2 weeks, and I receive a text and an email telling me to update my payment info so I can pay the $200 cancellation charge on my account. I called customer service again and explained the situation. Was on hold for a few minutes, and then informed by the customer service rep that they would need a copy of the fire incident report as proof that I'm no longer living at the service address. So, either pictures weren't enough the first time around, or, they don't check the generic customer care email address. I sent a copy of the fire report to the customer care rep's individual email address and, at the time of writing this review, am now waiting to see if the charge will be dropped as promised (twice). I would be much more inclined to schedule future service if the cancellation process for a traumatic life event wasn't so difficult. If EcoShield took the $200 loss now and honored my cancellation request without hassle, I would be much more inclined to come back for service in the future when I'm living somewhere that needs it. They could make much more from me that way, instead of fighting me over a one-time $200 charge resulting from a major life event beyond my control. Having talked to a couple different customer service reps at this point, it's obvious the company doesn't care about its customers or its employees; it only cares about keeping you in your contract by incentivizing its customer care reps. This is the probably the worst experience I have ever had with a company. First they sell you on a cheap price and a one time spray down but they'll immediately lock you in some sort of contract. They'll charge you every couple months without actually doing anything. They don't get rid of any pests around the property, no matter how many times they "come back". Make sure to check your cameras because they will do a quick walk around spray hardly anything, and also just today they came and immediately left. They pretended to knock and you can't even call because they close at 5pm. Keep in mind, you'll also have to pay a fee for canceling because they can't do their service correctly. This company is creepy. I work from home and had to answer the door so Bryce would stop ringing the doorbell. When I answered, he falsely claimed he was doing work for neighbors. When I told him we had a service, he asked "who" and I told him that my husband handles that. He then went on to ask when would be a convenient time to speak to him. As the holiday was approaching, I said, 'maybe next week" trying to get rid of him and knowing I was never going to open my door for him again. He then went on to forwardly ask, "Is he away on a business trip?" At that point, I said, "I am not going to discuss that with you." And I shut the door. There are plenty of professional pest control services in my community. No reason to deal with such inappropriate and creepy behavior.
