BUYER BEWARE! This company scams customers - HIGHLY UNETHICAL! Our experience: After the long sales pitch, we told them we were NOT interested in purchasing such an OVERPRICED unit. After realizing that they were going to lose the sale, they offered a "monthly" plan for lower ongoing payments. This appeared reasonable, so we finally agreed to the monthly plan. BIG MISTAKE! They had us sign up for a "monthly" plan, then distracted us before leaving the premises. During the distraction, they STOLE our copy of the receipt showing that we signed up for the monthly plan. Then, a week later, AFTER the installation, they mysteriously find our receipt, that we had carefully filed away while they were at the premises. We then realized why it had disappeared - they returned to us an ALTERED receipt showing we "agreed" to purchase the entire unit up front, and proceeded to charge our credit card for over $3,000! This SCAM was not performed by some rogue employee, this was the OWNER of the San Diego franchise! Clearly the most veteran SCAMMER of the bunch! If this happened to you, file a DISPUTE with your credit card company and expose these crooks. Stay FAR AWAY from these people and find a more reputable dealer!!! read more

This review is about Ecowater Systems of San Diego, who installed a whole home filtration system in our home in March of 2014. I live in Riverside county, and knew the water here was pretty bad. My wife and I had discussed water filtration systems, and I started to do quite a bit of internet searching to find a reputable company. I am a Costco shopper, and saw the Ecowater display in Costco. I have been a Costco member for many years, and Costco is pretty protective of its members, so I decided to add Ecowater to the companies I was checking out. I made an appointment through Costco, and they sent Kevin Rankin out to test my water. As I mentioned, I already knew our water was pretty bad. We had lots of scale everywhere, and had to constantly "squeege" our glass shower door to attempt to keep the water spots away. We also purchased bottled water, as we were not happy with the taste of the tap. Kevin performed several tests of our water, after answering my questions about Ecowater. I should say that I am a fairly skeptical person, so had many questions, about the product, and pricing. Kevin answered all of my questions honestly, and never seemed like I was "bothering" him by asking so many questions. I told Kevin that I would purchase the system, as long as he would come back out after my system was installed, and run all of the exact same tests, so I could see the results myself. He immediately agreed, which was very comforting. I had more questions on the lead up to my installation appointment, and called Kevin, who gave me the number to call one of the owners of the franchise (John). I called John and he answered all of my additional questions. With all of my questions answered, I had my installation appointment. Bill (My installer) was very professional, showed up on time, and also explained what he was doing. He installed the system as had been explained in the diagram, and also installed the reverse osmosis system I purchased. After installation, I REALLY noticed a difference. The biggest difference was the taste of the water, and everything made with water (like Coffee and Tea). The difference was so noticeable that I was shocked. I had no idea Coffee and Tea could taste like that (so, good!). We deliberately do not squeegee our shower door now because I wanted to see if the scale would return. It has not. Soap suds up more, and showers feel better. After installation, I had some concerns about where my system was draining, even though it was installed per our agreements. I spoke to Kevin, and called the office who sent the installer (bill) back out to re route the drain system per my request, at no additional charges. I really felt that EcoWater San Diego bent over backwards to make sure I was happy with my new system. I waited a month to write this review so that I had more time with the system. I still love it! My Ice is clear (except air bubbles, no sediment), and tastes GREAT. We use less soap, there is no more scale, and we have not "squeegeed" the shower door since the system was installed. Water dries completely with no spotting. We no longer use rinse agents in the dishwasher, and no longer buy drinking water. I am extremely happy with the system, and just as happy with EcoWater San Diego, as I know I asked a TON of questions, and even made some challenging statements to them, and they answered them all, with professionalism and information. read more

We bought our eco-water system 4 years ago. Overall, we have been very happy with both the system and the eco-water team. We have the whole house water filtration system plus the reverse osmosis system in the kitchen. First the positives: 1. Our hard water issues disappeared after we installed our system 2. The whole family noticed immediate improvement re quality of the shower/bathing water. The drinking water is excellent. 3. Eco water is great about sending us our yearly reminders to replace our reverse osmosis prefilters......otherwise I would forget 4. The installers and service guys have all been very professional. 5. On the couple of occasions we have needed service, the prices have been reasonable. In fairness, one of our two service calls was a problem created by our house master pressure valve malfunctioning. This malfunction caused a problem with our RO system, but the eco-water guys diagnosed the problem and potentially saved our family thousands of dollars. 6. If you are in a bind, and really need them to come to you at a certain time, they are good about working with you....even late on a Friday afternoon. Now for the negatives: 1. We have left a couple of after hours calls that were slow to be returned. By slow, I mean about 2 business days. I'm sure most people would think this is reasonable, but when there is a problem with the water, you want it addressed fast. They do have an 24 hours emergency paging system, but our calls were not true emergencies. 2. Our whole house water filtration system did need a rather significant repair. This seemed reasonable for a 4 year old unit and the repair was done quickly for a reasonable price. 3. The system is a little pricey. A few thousand dollars, but worth it to our family. Overall, we are happy with EcoWater. We would and do recommend them to our friends. Just wanted to write a review that would be useful for all. read more

If I would have written a review when I bought the unit, it would have been four or five stars. I've owned it for eight years now. I'm disappointed with the unit and the company. The sales lady answered my questions to get the sale, but failed to disclose the whole truth. I advise reading the fine print. Don't trust the sales pitch, silly me.To start, the sales lady promised the world with warranties cost savings, etc. Here are some of my experiences years later: they never came back to retest my water as promised, different parts of the unit have different warranties - every repair has been parts not warrantied. I suspect part of the company's business plan is engineered failure. Service calls are expensive, $125 just to come out plus the cost of repair. I read lots of reviews praising the company and their sales people. That was also my experience upon purchase. Now that I'm at their mercy for repairs, the courtesy has disappeared. Yes , I questioned the warranties, the cost of service calls, the obvious hard water build up, the huge amount of salt I go through (WAY more than what they told me it would be), etc. They don't even attempt empathy or sympathy in their response. They are consistently curt when I have questions and won't even discuss possible problems or solutions over the phone. Their only offer is a $125 service call. Today my wife called to ask about a hardness test (we have hard water build up everywhere), I took over when I heard her frustration. Well, our sales lady told us tests were free anytime. Again, I learned the fine print screwed me. This unit was a "lease". Because I paid off the unit, I have to pay for the service call. Our sales lady must have forgot to explain that detail. He kept trying to schedule the visit for the test. I explained I don't want to pay $125 if nothing is wrong with the unit. His response, "I don't understand." I had to give him the same explanation three times. He then offered to let me bring my water to their office to test the hardness, at a cost of $50. These test strips cost 25 cents and take ten seconds. Of course I scoffed at paying $50. He then said I should buy my own and test it myself. This company's professionalism does not run deep. Boiled down, they are your run of the mill - double speak - slight of hand sales company. Disappointing. read more

We've had our whole house filter system plus the reverse osmosis drinking water system for 4 years now, and continue to enjoy the benefits of the two systems. We had to move our washer and dryer and the person doing the work commented on how clean the drain pipe was, said he had never seen one so clean, which I attribute to the filtration system. Additionally, we enjoy how clean our clothes are and the good taste of the water, and veggies cooked with it. Overall, one of the best investments we have made for our health and well being. read more

Although the technician arrived on time he was really only interested in selling me his ridiculously high priced system. He spent most of the visit telling me how awful my current system was and said his boss referred to it as a throw away. I can't be sure of his diagnosis. He really wanted me to buy theirs. Okay, so i am updating my reviewposted on 2-16-2013. Before i posted my february review i should have called eco to discuss the problem. It really didnt occur to me that adjustments might help or that we could have a unit with a manufacturing defect (its possible). So as of today, we have a new unit and fingers crossed that it performs and does what it is supposed to do. As for the company, i think they will try and satisfy their customers. The service manager, Glen, is awesome. Just deal with him. Then everything will be fine. Will post an update on the new unit in a few weeks. read more

After purchasing our system at Costco, Michael came out to install it. He did a great job. His attention to detail and professional style was super. He did a great job in the installation and in explaining the product and its maintenance. After a few days we started noticing The Softwater experience and how lovely it is to take a shower and feel great afterwards. Also no hard water deposits or stains on our expensive fixtures. I wanted to wait 6 months of use before I reviewed the company and product. First of all, sales rep and install were awesome. Professional and no problems. All questions answered thoroughly. I noticed a difference in my skin right away. So soft and smooth. No more scaly, dry arms. My hair started feeling thicker and healthier after 6 months. ***Unit is so quiet and I have only had to add salt ONCE in 6 months.*** With my previous softener i was always adding salt! And the "recharging" was loud. That experience almost led me to not ever get a softener again. Drinking water is great. No more hauling the 5 gallon jugs. I was a little stressed on the cost at first but now I think - totally worth it. Hand washing felt a little "slimy" at first but now it's fine. read more

Good price and a decent Water Softener product. Installation was fine but there is no post installation support that you would get for free even for the first year. My filters were due to be replaced but I didn't know how to replace them. I was hoping for the first year I would get help in the replacement after I buy the filters but there is a $99 fee. Wish I was told how to replace them at the time of the installation so I could do this easily. read more

Knowing little to nothing about water purification devices, for the home, Roger Aceves of EcoWater SoCal, could have certainly taken advantage of that when our reverse osmosis system suddenly stop working. When I called to let them know and to ask them for an in-home service visit, which would have likely exceeded $100.00, Roger Aceves walked me through the issue, on the phone and showed me how I could resolve it on my own, with a $16.00 part, which I ordered from Roger on the phone. It is rare, now-a-days, to find a company that understands, that this is all we want, not to be taken advantage of, for the sake of making money off of us. In the last week, we had a great experience with eco-water systems. After reaching out to the Costco representative, we were visited by Gregory, the eco-water system sales rep. He proceeded to give us a comprehensive demonstration regarding our home water and the standards we could expect from using their refiner system and reverse osmosis filtration system. We decided to purchase the systems, instead of other options we were considering. A member of eco-water systems installation department contacted us to schedule an appointment for installing the units promptly. Today we had Mike the eco-water systems installer show up right on time, give us a comprehensive overview of what he was going to do, and went right to work. Mike was very professional, knowledgeable and customer focused. He made efforts to keep us aware of his activities throughout the installation process which we appreciated very much. Just had our long awaited Reverse Osmosis drinking water system installed. Kevin Rankins came to the house and explained everything perfectly. This morning Michael came out and installed the system. There was some minor glitches in the installation. I made one phone call to Kevin and that's all it took. Before I knew it I had a team at my front door (Charlie & David) who took care of the problem that day, and fast. Not only do we love our system, but rarely do you experience a company that sincerely wants to satisfy the customer fast and treat you the way we were treated. We purchased the water system for our gym since refilling the 5 gallon jugs was a pita. Our clients love how clean the water taste. Luke Pelbath came today to replace our filters, he was very friendly and extremely quick. Very impressed with the service department.
