My experience with Ecowater and Van Cao was superbly smooth and efficient from start to end. Van did a great job explaining the process and pricing to me, no hidden fees like other companies. Prior to speaking with Van I had done research and reached out to other companies selling a similar product. Don't be fooled cheaper pricing options as their pricing and service is poor at best. After the install was done I noticed some adjustments in the piping that needed to be made, Brett McCullaes came out and made all the necessary adjustments I requested; no questions asked. Went through Costco and had EcoWater Purification system installed last month. Love it!! The taste of the water is wonderful. The initial water reserve tank was a 2 gallon, which I thought was a bit small. EcoWater came out and changed the tank to a 4 gallon at my request without any charge. We purchased a Whole house and drinking water filtration system a few years ago. Just recently I discovered that one of the hoses was leaking. I called yesterday to make an appointment and the came out today. My window was 10-12 and they were here at 9:00. That might be the first time in my life that anyone has every come before or at the front of the window. It's like winning the lottery. It only got better as Charlie E. (the technician) saw the problem, explained it to me and then took care of it. Charlie has to be the most chill service tech that I have ever come across. His customer service skills are out of this world. We've had things repaired in the past from other companies and it seemed like the tech didn't want to be at my house and hated his job. Charlie was quit the opposite. He spoke highly of his company, said he was glad to be employed there, loved his job and thanked me for being a customer. I don't really ever Yelp, but I felt I needed to in this instance. EcoWater has been great to us and I'm glad to be a customer. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. It took me 3 weeks to get an appointment for service and maintenance on the water softener and reverse osmosis system which were purchased by the former homeowner in 2016 at Costco. Unfortunately, I was forced to use Ecowater because no one else will service these products. The day before the appointment, I received a voice mail message informing me that the tech would be at my home between 12 noon and 4 p.m. the following day. At 1:15 the following day, the tech called me on his cell phone which registered as an Oklahoma number on my phone so I thought it was junk mail. He did leave a voice mail message informing me that he would be arriving at my home within 15 or 20 minutes, that I was welcome to give him a call back, and I heard nothing further from him. At 3:45, the tech had still not arrived at my home so I called his cell and got his voice mail so I left a message and subsequently left him 2 more messages to which he never responded. I called the Ecowater office several times to find out what the problem was and the girl told me she would find out and call me back but she never called me back. I called the office again and spoke to the same person who gave me a sob story about the tech having a bad back and how he shouldn't even be working, etc. - way too much information. She finally asked for my address and it was discovered that the numbers of my address had been transposed when the appointment was initially made so the tech had been given the wrong address. The girl said she would call him to explain that and call me back. She never called me back. I knew the office would close at 6 p.m. so I called her again and she told me that the tech never called her back so she didn't call me back. After being non-decisive and confused, she finally said maybe we should reschedule so I agreed and told her that my water softener was almost out of salt so the appointment needed to be asap and she said she would do that and then turned around and offered me an appointment two weeks later. I told her to forget it and I hung up the phone. The next day, the office manager called me and asked if I wanted to reschedule and I told her I did if it could be in the next few days but she said nothing was available. She explained that they are busy which is not my problem, especially since they made the mistake that caused the tech to go to the wrong address. Nothing was offered to accommodate me. The girl and the office manager admitted that the mistake was their fault and said they were sorry but did nothing else. The failure of employees to return telephone calls is unforgivable and their office practices, in general, are atrocious. They all need to take a crash course in telephone manners and office demeanor. I will never deal with them again although I am aware that their business is the only place I can obtain filters for my reverse osmosis system so I am at a loss of what to do. read more

What ever problems that cropped up, Shaun, in service, immediately got someone out to solve the problem. He was great to work with. I dealt with Cody Chafey for the most part. We bought a unit and then moved. They inspected the new house, sent out a tech to look at the install and mgmt said they would run the water pipe in as part of the install charge of $550. Then Fabian, the tech installer, shows up to do it and refused when he arrived. This resulted in a long delay as we had plumbers do it. Then the unit was reinstalled. It has never worked. By the time we realized the problem Sean (who says he is in charge of customer service) at Ecowater refuses to come out without charging. He says the reinstall only had a 30 day warranty. GOOGLE "signs the water softener is not working" ! How is a 68 year old woman, recently widowed, supposed to know the water softener is not working in 30 days. These people are heartless mercenaries. The brine tank shows it has only been wet once since salt dust is still inside on the sides. The unit's little computer shows no water has been through it since it was installed. In other words it has never worked. Not since day one. It is not sensing water going through and never regenerates. They do not stand behind their sales or installations. They are condescending and could not care less. So should we let these minions from hell come back and work on it? Would you? Or would you GO ELSEWHERE! read more

Purchased a nine year old home that had an existing Ecowater system already installed. I called Ecowater in Vista to come out and explain system and check it. They arrived 45 minutes late, then tried hard to high pressure me to buy a new system BEFORE they even looked at my system. They told me that a 9 year old system will probably no longer work so I should invest $10,000 plus to replace it. Being concerned about the stability of a product that they sold was certainly one of my concerns. The technician spent all of four minutes looking at the system, then handed me a $125 bill for his four minutes of labor! He was obviously miffed that I would not buy his newer system. It has been a number of months now, and my nine year old system is working just fine. I wasted $125 and had to put up with their high pressure sales. Lesson learned. Don't call them. read more

I went through Costco to purchase the EcoWater ECR 3700 (soft water) and the reverse osmosis drinking water. The sales representative (Kevin) did a fine job of explaining the system and was readily available to answer any questions from start to finish. We have an Eco Water System installed in our home about a year ago. In July 2019 we noticed that a valve located in the our garage was leaking so we called them to have it fix. We were under the impression that the repair was free since it was still under warranty except, we were told that the parts are but not the labor. So, we paid the labor that amounted to $125.00. But in October 2019, we received a bill from them again for the same repair they did on their defective product back in July 2019. David and Mike we're awesome !!! I had an older ecowater system that I bought at the San Diego Fair in 2010 for $4000 at my home that a general contractor broke during a recent remodeling project. So I needed to repair mine or get a new one. David came out to my home and offered $1500 trade in for a new model or to repair my old one for $900. So of course I opted for the newer model 3700. Mike came out to install my new one and seeing that my old one was outside in the elements, he offered to relocate the plumbing to move the new $5000 plus model out of the elements and into my protected laundry room. He spent 4 hours of labor and at least 20 feet of copper line to relocate my new water softner/ purifier, at no extra charge !!!! You guys rock !!!! We talked to the rep at Costco. They scheduled an appointment and they sent a rep out to our house to do a demonstration. Van Cao, she was very helpful and answered all out questions. She was very knowledgeable and gave us some good demonstrations and measured of water hardness. We ended up bought the water softener system for the whole house and the reverse osmosis system. It has been couple months now and we are very satisfied with the system. Set up was done shortly after ordering and they even disconnected our monthly water service system for free. This has been such a frustrating experience. I'm shocked Costco backs this company and exposes their massive incompetence to it's members. The only thing that went smoothly is the money disappearing from our bank account. We were told it would take about three hours to install a water softener and reverse osmosis system. This is DAY three, and I am currently sitting around waiting for a proper electrician to arrive. So if you would like to waste numerous days of your life waiting for the proper installation of your water system; have to inspect and manage the job yourself; track down the warranty promised; be victimized by constant fraudulent misrepresentations and empty promises, then Ecowater San Diego is right up your alley. UPDATE: The electrician isn't coming today....he's sick! If you haven't done business with this company, good on you. If you just signed up with this company, use your three day right to cancel. We have an EcoWater filter that we purchased through Costco. We are so happy with it. They came and installed it for us and removed it and reinstalled it when we moved recently. The installers are always professional and do a great job. We have a house filter and a drinking water filter. About a week before we moved, we took the house filter off. Had a problem with my Eco soft water system. I have already had Eco out several times as well as plumber. I had bluish crystals plug my shower head. Fabian Acuna was very diligent and found the problem. I later verified the issue on the internet and found someone with a similar issue. Hats off to Fabian. I have been looking for a whole house water filtration system for some time now. At our old house the water was pretty bad. Then we moved to Jurupa Valley and I couldn't believe it was worst here than at my previous house. That is when we had a couple of companies come out to test and give us the whole show. One day when we were at Costco, a rep was there to sign people up for test, we made our appointment and the rep came out that week after working hours. The rep (Greg S.) was there. He was very professional and we let him know that we didn't want to do the test again, we already know how bad it is. He did a simple test to see himself how bad it was. He answered our questions and the price we couldn't beat! We have had 3 companies come out before and this was the lowest price for the same thing and size as the other companies were offering. They installed the softener on weekend for us and were very professional. I have a brand new house and this is my favorite thing in there! I love it and am very happy with my decision on this company and product. read more

Sales rep Kevin Rankins came out to review our water system. We had already seen 2 other people and had our water tested. But, Kevin tested it anyway and really explained what each test showed. We decided to go with Ecowater Systems because it seemed to be a good system, it took up a smaller footprint than other systems (leaving more room in the garage), and it is backed by Costco. The installers were there 3 business days later and were fast, professional, and friendly. Fabian even installed a spigot I needed in my garage (where I brew my beer), and got rid of a pretzel mess of other plumbing. He also set up the system and helped set up the WiFi connection to the iPhone app for the system. The app is great as it allows you to monitor your system anytime, and will send alerts such as if water is running for an extended period, which most likely means you have a leak, or someone left a faucet on. We travel a lot these days, so this is a great comfort to know we can be aware of possible problems even while hundreds of miles away. read more

I had my system (EWS ECR) installed today and the guys Fabian and Victor did a great job. Would have given 4 stars, but one of the tanks was missing its lid, so they need to bring that next week. The service from scheduling first appt, meeting with salesman Bruce, scheduling install to finishing install has been outstanding. Something that is bothering me though, is the taste of the water. Our water is very hard, but has always had a good fresh taste. With this new softener system, the water is bland and, to me, doesn't taste good. Long time customers with EcoWater, had both whole house softener & kitchen RO system. Always have good service when needed. Recently, we could tell our 17 yr old softener not performing. They sent Luke out. He throughly inspected our system and advised us on our choices. Luke was a polite professional, cleaned up after the work and called back to confirm everything working as it should. We had another issue which he promptly responded to and threw in some extra stuff for our trouble. It was obvious he wanted to do right by us. I have never written a review before, but this is one that needs to be said. I meant with Bruce from Ecowater and he was kind and shared how bad my water was and how a water softener would help my pikes and skin and hair. He also stated that if I go through him he would take off 595 and if I went through Costco they would give me a gift card to use in their store. He failed to share how much maintenance it would require, that the city of Encinitas does not support water softeners, due to the treatment plant can not handle the amount of salt that is drawn back into the system. He also failed to say how the back flush uses more water and the water consumption will go up. I called the day after they installed and stated I did not want the unit, they at first tried to say if it is a money issue we can see what we can do. I said no I simply do not want the softener. He also failed to offer me at the time of his presentation that I could go on a month to month service instead of spending 3700 for the unit. Oh, and original he quoted me 4300 and then when I said I don't think I can do that, he said how about I throw in the reverse osmos and give it all to you for 3700. Bottom line, it is like a car dealer... it is a about making money and the product is not top of line, but you pay as if it is. I would not recommend them, they were rude after I shared I did not want the unit and especially once I told them I called Costco to share what they were saying, and I also called the water district. After first they were wanting to keep my business and negotiate and then they got angry . I never take one or two bad ratings seriously, but please don't waste your money on this product. It is a scam, our water may not be perfect, but is good enough to show in and you can order quality drinking water for far less than this company and their product. read more
