Dicks Last Resort but a 50s diner. We had no idea what we were walking into when we walked into Ed's. Up early and looking for breakfast and we stumbled into this retro 50s diner. We quickly learned that this is one of those places where people are purposely mean to you so that was super fun! Overall it came with a ton of laughs. They let us order off of the lunch menu and their food was surprisingly really good. One of the better Chicago dogs I've had! Neat place for kids or if you really like this style of experience/restaurant. read more

We thought we were walking into a diner for quick breakfast. Our server Cherry bomb greeted us- we quickly realized the show was about to begin. She sat us down and threw our free shit on the table (napkins, silverware and hats) It was breakfast, but we wanted a Chicago dog. Cherry bomb "rudely" granted our wish. I always say dining out is about the experience as much as the food. With considered, this is one of my all time favorites. The food and the experience are awesome! I had the bbq bacon cheeseburger. The bun, bacon, sauce, and burger were excellent. The sauce was kind of a Carolina fold mustard style and it makes a mess! The fries were good, but the burger was so big I couldn't eat many fries. With that messy burger it's a good thing my waiter threw a few napkins at me. And eventually even slammed down a container of silverware while walking by. The staff is truly snarky...and it's awesome. We heard our waiter tell the table next to us she ate weird. Another waiter told some kids waiting to be seated with their parents to "follow me you little brats." I was rolling laughing and just watching everything around me for the next hilarious encounter. Just don't stay too long. One couple tried to enjoy the show too long after their meal and a waiter borrowed the mic from the dj. "Attention guests, eat and get out has been our motto since 1984. If you're done eating and you've paid your check get out of here. There's people up front waiting for the same crappy experience you had." The staff would stop to sing along to Grease. All of their outfits were amazingly detailed. No attention to detail is missed. We were sitting right by the DJ and he was rocking out. It's loud and bright in here. It's fun. The foods great. First time in after living nearby for almost 20 years. Brought my 10 year old daughter and we had a great experience. Hilariously mean staff and the best was when my daughter came back from the bathroom and they shouted "EWWWW SHE DIDN'T WASH HER HANDS!" Pure embarrassment and laughter. Would definitely recommend. My kids have been begging to come here so when my 10 year old son was looking for a fun bday experience for his good friend we thought we'd check it out. I have some fond memories from the old Ed Debevic's so was looking forward to checking out the new and improved location. We were greeted rudely by the waitresses because that's how they do things around here. My son's friend was given a hat that said "i smell like farts," which the 10 year olds of course thought was hilarious. We ordered burgers and fries...and shakes for the kids. While it was by no means a good burger, it was certainly better than I remember the food was at their old location. And the boys thought it was all amazing. It's definitely an entertaining dinner from the jokes to the dancing. At the end they brought out a bday dessert with a candle for the bday boy and the waitress blew it out (basically spit on it) so we went out for donuts for dessert after. I think it was a one time experience for me, but definitely made some memories...and it was a perfect dining experience for two 10-year-old boys! read more

Had a great time on a Monday night! And i have a feeling I would have the BEST time during their bottomless weekend brunch. Even with a small crowd (maybe 4-5 tables), they still will get on the mic and also perform! We got to see a fun dance number and witness some good roasts. Let's be real, you don't come here for the food. Expect to order and eat diner food that is tasty and okay, but nothing outstanding. The fries are surprisingly crispier than they look! read more

This place is sarcastic fun to the max! If you don't want to be called a dweeb, pipsqueak, old man, or told to scram then don't go here. Our 7 and 8 year old thought the snarky comments were extremely fun. It's a 50s diner with the waiters and waitresses each dressed as a character. We had "Ziggy" and he did not disappoint. While we were there Ziggy and the other servers got on stage and danced to Rose Royce's "Car Wash." classic cheeseburger with fries runs $16. I upgraded to cheese curds for an additional $3. They also had a good selection of kids meal options. All in all it was a fun experience and the food was good too. read more

Ed Debevic's has the greatest horrible service, big attitudes eye rolls and being told you smell like farts, this was my first time here on my anniversary and I couldn't ask for a better time good priced food, and the entertainment is top notch. This is a great place to bring out of town guests for a fun night of diner food and entertainment! It's more fun to play along with the servers. Don't take their jokes seriously and you'll have a great time. We enjoyed their rendition of YMCA! Surprisingly, the food was pretty good here. We got a variety of burgers, fries etc At one point, the music was a little bit too loud. Everything else was great! Try to sit on the main floor so you can see the entertainment part easily. There were folks in the upstairs room that were peeking around the corner to watch the dancing. read more

Okay this is the location that everyone should visit if you're going to Chicago. The Breakfast was simply amazing and the food is cooked to perfection. The service is totally over the top and outstanding. Our server was so good that I Tipped her above 20% the atmosphere style is in the fifty's and it will give you that Happy Days feeling. I was in town for the weekend and decided to give this place a try! I honestly didn't know anything about it besides the menu looked affordable. This place is a quirky diner who puts on a show and the waiters are dressed from the 60's. This is fun for all ages and the waiters are sarcastically hilarious. The kids was having fun "turning off their manners" for the day it was fun to see. Food: 7/10 I ordered the "Hippie Skillet" it was okay nothing fancy but still enjoyable. My other guests all ordered chicken sandwiches and they said it was decent. We also opted for the bottomless Mimosas for $20 . The server does have to pour it for you and it is premixed and they do space out the pours... Which I didn't mind. Service: 9/10 Our server "Sugar-foot" was amazing. He was funny . He picked up all our jokes... he was attentive... a sweetheart!! Honestly we would literally just come back and ask for him every time. We wanted to put him in our pocket! Ambiance: 10/10 It's hard to find a place that has the vibes , service , and reasonable priced food for the area!! I will be back Sugar-foot!!! read more

My husband and I picked Ed Debevic's to celebrate our first year wedding anniversary. The Benchwarmer was our server and we had a great time! He even shouted us out for our special day. Thumbs up to the Blue Moon Burger and the Cobb Salad. Very clean and upbeat place. Especially when I heard someone shout, "Shut up Freckles!" from across the room. Funny, acerbic and a throwback atmosphere for all ages. The food is surprisingly tasty, with enough variety to please the kiddos and adults alike. Over-the-top burgers, shakes, salads, and soups. I had the grilled cheese for grownups with tomato basil soup and it was comfort food to the max. The servers did a great job of being nerdy and rude, but also got the orders correct and delivered to the right diner. We went on a Wednesday evening and it was cold outside. My only complaint was that it was uncomfortably "freezing" in the restaurant. None of us took off our coats, hats, and scarfs. The gloves came off only to facilitate eating. The temperature kind of ruined an otherwise great birthday celebration. read more

The menu includes a wide variety of salads, wings, wraps, sandwiches and, my favorite, burgers. I was with a group of 4 and we all ordered burgers - and none of us opted for the same burger.
