Obviously this is a fun place to go & a gem for Chicago. You need to go with the awareness that the service comes with giving you a hard time & you simply have to laugh! Fun and a different experience. Loved the old time diner feel, the characters and outfits the staff embodied, and the diner food. The outrageous fries were great, it's a large appetizer and more than enough for four to share. Loved the sliders mix and match, was able to try all three kinds. I live in the neighborhood, so stopped in during a walk for a chocolate malt. It was OK, but for $10 (plus our high Chicago tax and a tip, which brought it to $15), a bit on the pricey side. I remember going to the old location, but only when visitors insisted on it. To be fair, I am old and I just do not like this type of experience. It wasn't busy and I was seated right away, but then there was a long wait for service once seated, the dancing and singing prolonged the delivery of the malted by 5 or 6 minutes more. It is too overwhelming and annoying for me. I will say that the other diners around me seemed to be enjoying themselves. Wow, dated concept. Insult humor is dated. Non-consensual touch is dated. Mock hostility is dated when there is plenty of real hostility out there on the streets. My server slapped a paper hat on my head without warning. Fine, for 1984. Honestly a bit triggering in 2022. I get the insult humor. Fine. But leaving me to sit for 25 minutes waiting for water is adding injury or passive aggression to insult. The food is good, but the experience wasn't worth it. We went on a slow Monday, so the usual music and dancing wasn't happening. Even so, Jane Calamity made our experience fun and memorable.

We waltzed in here around 7:00 pm on Labor Day and the place was not even half full. This was our first time back since they re-opened at their new location. The food was delicious and the staff were obnoxiously rude which was just what we like. I have lots of fond memories of going to Ed's with my kids so I was happy to see it back in business. the quality of the food and service are still excellent. The service here is super unique! Waiters and waitresses are intentionally rude to you and are hilarious! Every once in a while they perform a dance too which overall made for a very unique dining experience. The food here is a little pricey but the portions are massive. My brother and I split an order of pancakes and fries and that was more than enough for us. I had a great time here and would definitely come again read more

"It's just like the old Ed's, only cleaner and more expensive" comment from my dining partner and it's totally true. But let me explain. This Ed's is a bright and open space compared to what we knew of the location back in River North which had a more closed and crowded feeling. As for the price, well yeah, it's 2021 and prices of everything is higher, but you're right off the Mag Mile, expect to pay tourist prices. BUT, it's a fun time. My son had a blast and all through lunch laughed at the servers antics and snarky remarks. They still get up and dance from time to time, but it's lively and puts a smile on the patrons faces so why not. The menu has basics like burgers, some sandwiches, chili, chicken. We all enjoyed our meals. I went with the classic cheeseburger and fries and vanilla shake, it was my go-to back in the day and nostalgia vibes had me order it again despite knowing I should have gone with a salad (yeah I'm old). if you're a long time Chicagoan, you've probably been to the original Ed Debevics, and like me you'll understand that this new location is nothing like the original. While this is still a fun and different night out between the sassy staff, diner vibes, and occasional dancing, it does not have the same charm that the original has and in many ways both the food and the atmosphere feel similar to eating in a chain restaurant. The one thing I was really looking forward to during my visit was the dancing that the staff occasionally does, but despite the fact that I was there for an hour and a half, they did not do the dance one time. read more

This is my 4th visit and first to this location. Kids had burgers and I had Turkey Club with spicy mayo. It's spicy but good. Service was great. If you haven't been here or Dick's Last Resort, be prepared for rude, obnoxious service and give it back. The staff dances to oldies but goodies. Bubble Gum was our server and she was great. It's been six years since this was gone and Ed Debevic's is back, Ahh! This is upscale fast food so it starts at twelve dollars. This is by the Bravo Hospitality Group which owns Gino's East Pizzeria. I started out with the Caesar Salad. I expected more Avocado Caesar dressing on it but it was still great. Then I had the Kitchen Sink Nachos with easy cheese sauce and ended it off with the Impossible Burger with a side of Outrageous Fries. The burger was great but the fries were too salty. Ed's is still entertaining after all these years. It was my first visit to the new location. I took three teen girls during spring break. I did not make a reservation so we waited about 40 minutes for a table at lunch time. Once seated, our waiter Dean, was rude, but not crude. He kept the insults in tune with the young crowd that I was with. I hate to let the cat out of the bag, but he was also nice. The food was good for burgers and fries . Three burgers, a cheeseburger, three malts and a green River was over 100 bucks. Normal price these days. It's worth a trip for the entertainment and the food! Took my 3 kids here last weekend. Wasn't sure what to expect with them (being ridiculed). The staff was excellent. You could tall that they must have been theatre actors and this was their side gig.
