It's probably wise to suggest that what Ed doesn't know about bowling isn't worth knowing. I was in California from the UK (where pro shops are hard to come by) and visited Ed based on the reviews I'd read.. and boy I was not disappointed. There aren't very many bowling pro shops left in Los Angeles. I bought a 900 Global Honey Badger as a Christmas present to myself and needed it drilled. I decided to take my ball to Ed since he's located inside a bowling alley. I figured my family could bowl while I got fitted and waited for my ball. I arrived as soon as Ed opened since I was afraid that there would be a ton of people needing bowling supplies with it being a couple of days before Xmas. It took but a few minutes for Ed to measure my hand and I soon returned to bowl with my family while I waited. My ball was ready about 90 mins later. A few test throws with Ed and I was on my merry way to give my Honey Badger a whirl. My previous balls were a Brunswick Rhino Pro teal and a Roto Grip cell. My new Honey Badger fits my hand way better than any of my previous balls. Bowling with it is super comfortable and I don't feel like I need to grip my ball super hard in order to throw it. Ed is one of the best drillers I've ever worked with. He knows how to properly measure your hand and drills balls better than anyone else I've ever used. I do most of my bowling in Northern California, but go to Ed's shop for drilling and refinishing. I have another friend that does the same. He has a peculiar personality - he won't sell you something you don't need, is very opinionated, and quick to disagree when he thinks you're wrong. He also won't accomodate last-minute rush jobs, because everyone else has to wait their turn. The upside of this is that you get exactly what you want, and your ball is ready when it is promised. He will make sure you roll the ball at the alley to make sure it fits right. Tips: Don't be a cheapass and order a ball online and bring it here for drilling, he'll give you a ton of crap about how online shops suck, etc. etc. In some cases it's cheaper to buy the ball from him after you calculate drilling costs, but even if you're buying something high-end you'll only save $20-30 bucks over online once it's all figured out. He will help you find the right ball for you and buy it from him! If your ball cracks for any reason during the normal factory warranty he will replace the ball and re drill it for free! Instead of you having to send the ball back to the factory and then paying Mr Ed again to re drill the new ball when you finally get a replacement. A friend recommended this place to me for their bowling package. It's located inside AMF bowling square lanes. I met with Ed and TJ. They are the most nicest and down to Earth people you can do business with. They were patient when I was customizing my ball and available to answer any questions I had. They have a computer with a good hand full of images of the available ball designs to pick from. There 4 different kinds of shoes and a couple of bag colors. They also include a towel and powder with the package. After picking out the ball, Ed measured my hand to size up the holes. The ball I ordered will be arriving in two days.
