This past weekend my wife and I went to her grandmothers birthday at Eddie Merlot's. We had a private room in the back set aside for her birthday party which was very nice. We had a team of waiters that took care of us and they were great. They were very professional, friendly, and on top of the experience making sure every detail was perfect. I started my night with some French Onion Soup. This was one of the first few times I've had French onion soup and it was unbelievable. The broth was rich and delicious filled with onions, beef, and cheese. I gave my father in law a few bites of the soup and it was so good he ordered his own bowl. Then I had the Cowboy Cut bone in Ribeye with a side of peppercorn sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly, I asked for the chefs choice on temperature and it was a perfect medium to medium rare. Then I also had some of my wife's sides which she ordered the Eddie's potatoes, tempura green beans, the sweet potato casserole, Mac and cheese, wild mushrooms, and truffle fries. Everything was very good but the real star was the Eddie's potatoes. They were diced potatoes with cheese and a sauce over the top. I also got to try off some family members plates the Tomahawk steak, the wedge salad, and some ahi tuna wantons. I did not have anything that was not made perfectly. Then to finish we ordered the chocolate cake, and the cheese cake and both were great. The chocolate cake is some of the best cake I have ever had. Overall I would highly recommend coming and trying Eddie Merlots. Everything was perfect and we were taken great care of. Definitely will be back to try more streak. Thank you Merlots! read more

Update. Monday early dinner reservation at the wine bar. The enclosed back area was open. Was able to grab a sitting by the wine cellar. To our surprise, Carlton was our server. He is amazing bartender and he adds so much value to this location. Other than the usual drinks, I got a HH priced prosecco. He brought out two glasses even though only needed one. Nice touch to add. Got the carrot cake , a must. Only had one slice and rest to take home. Decadent dessert. One of the best! When we were ready for the check, he said we had $25 reward. Wow. He went out of the way and checked my Prime Society account. Superb! By the way, everyone should sign up for this free reward account. Our first time dining here, and it won't be my last. Starting from the fresh baked sourdough bread to my comp desserts of 2 strawberry covered chocolate to the mini birthday cake, Eddie Merlot's knows how to make the guests feel welcome, how to cook their steaks to my liking, and making our dining here special for my birthday. The setting of the restaurant was filled with romantic atmosphere. The overhead music played was very good. We danced in our seats, and sang a little bit. It was a perfect evening. I had heard good things about Eddie Merlot's happy hour so I thought I'd give it another try. I'm so glad I did! First of all I called to see if I needed a reservation and I spoke with a very friendly, helpful Kenzie. When we arrived she greeted us warmly and led us to a nice table in the lounge. Our server Julious was quick to greet us. He was absolutely amazing! He was so sweet and anticipated our needs before we even asked for anything. He was attentive but not overbearing and our service was perfect. All of the staff we interacted with worked well together and made our visit very comfortable. We started with the pot stickers which were very tasty. The crab cakes and cheeseburger were also excellent and Julious treated me to a rich chocolate cake with ice cream for my last birthday meal of the month (really this time!). I had a wonderful cocktail - or two - Burnt orange Manhattan. I highly recommend it. The only downside to our visit was the torn up chair at our table. (See picture). I would have thought a restaurant of this caliber would pay more attention to basic maintenance. But having Julious as our server outweighs any little negatives. Is you coming into this beautiful and excellent restaurant? You're greeted by hostess and seated at one of the tables that they have which has ample room for parties and an exhibition of great wines. The food selection was excellent and the pairings were phenomenal. Once the food arrived, it was incredible how delicious and tasteful everything was and without a doubt, everything was as expected out of this world and they made our anniversary very special and we were very pleased with everyone there from the manager to our waiter and waiters assistant who always was on top of everything we needed. The $28 prime steak special is hands down the best deal in town--a perfectly cooked, high-quality prime steak, plus a choice of soup or salad and a side dish. You just can't beat it. Beyond the food, the service was top-notch. Kevin, the bartender, made the experience even better. He was friendly, attentive, and knew exactly how to craft the perfect drink to complement my meal. His knowledge and personality made sitting at the bar an absolute pleasure. Needless to say I closed the deal but Eddie Merlot's certainly played a factor. Nice push. We had dinner for 14 people tonight and we agreed on a solid 4. What was very good: service, dessert and crab cakes. I didn't taste the steaks but people said it was worth 4 stars. Not great: My ahi tuna appetizer was just average, diced tuna thrown over some chips. I expect more from this high end place. Also, artichoke dip was on the heavy side and potatoes gratin had lots of cheese on top. The outstanding dessert was the peanut butter cup, great presentation and flavor. Walked in to Eddie Merlot's for Happy Hour, and it's a good one! It's a bright, and open place and felt special. Their signature cocktails were yummy (and $5 off each during HH). The choices for food took a bit to decide, so we finally had to ask our server -- she advised us very well. We chose to share the Lobster Roll, and the Filet Mignon Sliders. I was craving a good onion ring, so we added an order of the Onion Ring Tower. The Lobster Roll and Sliders were exceptional, as were the french fries that came with the sliders. The onion rings were just okay -- heavy breading made them difficult to eat -- flavor was meh. I'm looking forward to returning to try some of the other things we didn't choose. This time we know that the portion sizes were plenty to share, so we probably won't opt for a third! read more

Went for New Year's Eve with a group of 7. Dylan was our server and he was great! He's very soft spoken so it was a little hard to hear him in the busy restaurant. Inside is way more grandiose than you'd think from looking at it from the outside. The food was really good and had a fun take on some basic dishes. They were out of king crab legs and replaced with lobster tail which was a little chewy and small. There should have been some type of discount for them being out of stock but there wasn't. Came for early dinner on Sunday as I have never been. It was quite maybe 4-5 tables seated and we were only ones under 60. The hostess was a bit snooty and seeing how empty they were had WE NOT had a reservation she seemed like she may have given us a hard time. Our server Nathaniel was nice. Started off with wine and sparkling rose. Next we got the Ahi Tuna Wontons and they were delicious. We split the wedge and if you read my other reviews again no balsamic drizzle but they did have reduction and brought to us. After that it was perfect. I got the filet trio and honestly the cuts were big enough to share. Very nice cuts with different sauces - one was peppercorn, one garlic parm and one bearnaise or Hollandaise with crab, the last was my least fav- just to creamy and tad salty for filet. Meat was cooked perfectly. My guest got the filet with the shrimp and the shrimp was sadly like some boiled shrimp thrown on side. No flavor. Why not saute, grill or season? Seemed odd. We for side of Brussels and they were soggy tasteless Brussels ever, wish I got the creamed spinach. The meal Is pricy. Establishment is gorgeous! The vibes you get are old money and good food. We went with a party of 9 total - my husband takes out his team when they are in town and we booked this as a special treat! Well, the food and appetizers were perfectly seasoned, cooked, and presented. He does not drink so was not sure what to order for wine any longer; and I would think the waiter could've assisted a bit more then he did on choices etc.. as we spent a pretty penny. This is not a Commercial steak house in quality or prices so do not come here thinking it's a "deal". They have a great menu that offers lots of choices - which worked out great. Be sure to book a reservation as it was a bit busy. Recommendation - more recommendations and friendlier server that understands in most cases big parties want to chat a bit first rather then be rushed to order with no suggestions. Out of town for the holiday but not a worry in my mind, because this place served up a delicious meal. I spent Thanksgiving here with my dad and although we didn't get the thanksgiving meal we enjoyed a nice cut of steak and sides. We started with the appetizer trio: bbq shrimp, crab cakes and filet potstickers. 9/10 seasoned well, fresh and flavorful. I ordered the trio medallion because I couldn't choose just one steak sauce to try. The steaks were cooked to a perfect medium rare and they were melt in your mouth tender. The peppercorn and the gorgonzola were my favorite. My dad ordered the NY strip del Mar style the andoille sausage and shrimp sauce were simply divine. We shared the garlic mash. They were whipped to a creamy cloud peak drenched in butter. We each enjoyed a cocktail. We were too full for dessert but the carrot cake looked divine. Our waitress Katy was phenomenal. So warm and Inviting. Not many want to work on the holidays, but she did it with class. She really made the experience. Second year we've ventured here for Thanksgiving. You definitely need reservations. We got the last table of four available for the day and made our reservation on September 30th. So, reserve earlier than the end of September :) This is a great place to go if you don't want to worry about prepping for, cooking for, or cleaning for the big turkey day. Eddie's offers a Thanksgiving menu with three course or if you're not feeling turkey, their entire menu is still available. A delicious wedge salad, perfectly cooked turkey with gravy, stuffing, and two sides of veggies were perfect for me. I snuck a taste of another member of my party's sweet potato casserole and it was amazing! To top off the dinner, which is a steal at $49, you get a slab of delicious cake- I selected the carrot cake. Very well done Thanksgiving meal. Tomahawk Special - Lacking Flexibility The advertised special included lobster tails and a bottle of wine, but unfortunately there was no non-alcoholic alternative offered. Even if you declined the wine, the full price still applied. In today's dining world, it felt surprisingly non-inclusive not to offer a mocktail, NA wine, or even a premium soda as a thoughtful swap. Filet Del Mar - Salty Seafood, Under-Seared Steak I ordered the filet rare and received it borderline blue. I enjoy a very rare steak, so it worked out, but they could've added more sear than what felt like 15 seconds per side. The shrimp on top was overly salty with a slightly fishy aftertaste--not what I'd expect at this price point. That said, the potatoes, crab, and sauce absolutely saved the dish and were the highlight of my plate. Green Beans - Crunchy Redemption The tempura green beans weren't as light or crispy as we'd hoped, but the wasabi dipping sauce added just the right zing to make them enjoyable. A lighter coating would've gone a long way. Strip Steak - Good Flavor, Thinner Than Expected My partner ordered the strip steak medium rare, and while it leaned a bit rare, the cook was consistent and the flavor was excellent. We both agreed it could've been cut a little thicker to really shine. Overall, it wasn't a bad meal, but for the price and prestige of Eddie Merlot's, we expected a bit more finesse, especially around inclusivity and consistency in execution. read more

Made a reservation for a birthday for 2 ppl on a Thursday night to go out for a nice dinner w a friend. Decor looked like Vegas in 1990 lol! Crowd was lots of elderly Caucasian people who seemed to be enjoying a leisurely evening. For our mains, we had the bison and wagyu filets. I was traveling from the San Francisco Bay Area, California where we don't typically see bison steaks served in restaurants (we can get ground bison in grocery stores, but not full on steaks) so I was excited to see they served it here in the Rocky Mountain region. Both of the steaks were delicious and cooked perfectly to each of our liking (medium rare), but the sides were disappointing. I had specifically requested the sides be extra crispy, but they all came out soggy and bland. To our server's credit, he sent back all 3 sides and took it off of our bill. We had also ordered a shrimp enhancement to each of our steaks, but the order got mixed up and we were served 2 appetizer plates of shrimp instead lol. Again to server's credit, he took it off our bill and we had a ton of extra shrimp. But the BBQ sauce slathered all over the shrimp ruined the dish and made it way too sweet; they could go lighter on the sauce, or perhaps it's just what the population there prefers. You're supposed to be able to taste the freshness in quality plump shrimp like that instead of having it completed overpowered in sticky saccharine tar. I did enjoy the beef carpaccio appetizer! This place does their meats really on point and had very gracious service despite all the mishaps, and thus their service was duly noted so I'm keeping this place at 4-stars. (If it weren't for their service, I'd knock it down to 3-stars given how bleh the sides were -- such an important section of the menu for any legit steakhouse!) They were so kind to give us complementary champagne to start and birthday dessert and song to end. I'd still return for those bison steaks again and willing to give it another chance! Add Eddie Merlot's to quality steakhouse when choosing in the DTC/Denver area. I made a reservation through OpenTable, asked for a booth and got a very nice one. The hostesses were friendly and let us know it would just be a few minutes while the previous party finished. Eddie Merlots has plenty of parking and the dining area is very elegant with a mixture of tables and booths. They also have a bar area that I believe is mainly used for lunch (not 100% sure!) The drinks were good in the burnt orange Manhattan and Sake Sunset. We shared the calamari and oysters for appetizers. The batter used is a little on the heavy side for my preference but quality squid and good dipping sauces. The oysters were fresh and came six to an order. They did come with different sauces to put on top. For main we shared the 32oz porterhouse and it was fantastic. There was plenty for both of us and leftovers. For sides we had the lobster mac & cheese which was good. The lobster makes it even more decadent. We also had the tempura green beans which were good with same batter as calamari. We went for my wife's birthday and had great service with Melissa H. She was attentive, gave good recommendations, and did ask about special occasion (wife does not like singing or public celebration) and brought a special dessert but did not make a fuss about it. I returned for happy hour and sat at a table this time. While the prices have increased since my last visit, the quality of the food and drinks made it worthwhile. The bar area was very busy, but we never felt rushed. The tables are spaced far enough apart to keep the noise level down, creating a pleasant atmosphere. Our waiter, Kevin, was attentive, charming, and full of great suggestions. There were four of us, and we shared the ahi tuna wontons, filet mignon potstickers, an onion ring tower, and two lobster rolls served with homemade potato chips. Everything was well-prepared and absolutely delicious. I also tried the Sake Sunset cocktail, which was light, refreshing, and just the right amount of sweet--a unique and interesting drink. We were a party of 4 that came for Denver Restaurant week. We had an excellent server named Courtney. Service was great, well paced, both the manager and hostess came by to ask how we liked our meal and our server. Steaks were cooked as requested but the mashed potatoes that came as part of the meal were cold. The corn chowder soup was EXCELLENT!! This restaurant is superb! The food, the ambiance, and the service is excellent. I've been here twice and both times I've been very pleased. My boyfriend and I ordered a steak and asked them to cut it in half and plate each half separately. We also ordered the twin lobster tails dish and ask them to plate them separately as well. We basically shared both plates so we can have a surf and turf plate. The lobster tails were so big and delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection. We also ordered the escargot and crispy shrimp and both were amazing! I also highly recommend ordering a salad with their ranch dressing which is made in house. It's the best ranch I have ever had. Hubby and I went to Eddie Merlot's for restaurant's week. Our Server suggested the wagyu beef dinner with two lobsters tails special. We could not refused the special. The wagyu was cooked medium rare perfectly, tender and melt in your mouth. The lobster tails were big and juicy. It was overcooked just a bit. We had mashed potatoes which were smooth and seasoned with the right amount of salt, pepper and garlic. No lumps at all. Great service, staff was amazing. Your glass of water will never drop below half-full. Food was outstanding. The 18 oz Bison Steak was cooked perfectly and enjoyable, added a baked potato on the side. Toss in a bottle of Malbec and my dinner is complete. I recently had a girl's night dinner there. I am such a steak lover! We made reservations the day before and I was seated right away. The interior reminded me a lot of Vegas casino steak house, like Caesar Palace . Our waiter was very knowledgeable on all the wine and menu items and recommended a few good appetizers. Went today for Christmas dinner and was truly underwhelmed. 1. Once seated, we waited a good while for our server to come to our table. Several walked past but none acknowledged us or told us they'd be back to take our order. Eventually, the server arrived and took our drink and appetizer order. 2. Ordered calamari and it was okay. Two of the three sauces had no flavor. 3. Ordered our main meal and it arrived rather quickly, that was a plus. 4. The waiter checked on us one time while we ate, never offered to refill drinks or ask if we wanted another cocktail. It was very disappointing as he continuously walked past without checking in. 5. Once finished, we waited forever to ask for boxes and a dessert menu . The person refilling our water came to our table and offered boxes. Eventually, the waiter showed up with the dessert menu. 6. Received the bill and was charged $4 for a small ramekin of horseradish! Never saw this charge on the menu. To avoid a scene, we said nothing. All in all, this was a lackluster meal and experience.
