Last night was my second time in the past year going to Eddie V's for their fantastic happy hour with my friend! It's becoming our after work spot to grab a bite before going to a concert. I've still only gotten the Mini Filet Sandwiches which is center cut filet mignon on toasted brioche buns, Shaft's blue cheese, and onion Jam. I think I even got the same drink last time, the Spicy Margarita with El Jimador Tequila, Patrón Citrónge, fresh lime, jalapeño. It's so good! And the filet minon is $12 and the drink is $10. Even the free bread and butter is amazing sourdough with something added to the butter (maybe cinnamon, I'm not sure). We always just go casual and sit at the bar which is dark and moody but with friendly staff at the place that is typically a fancier dining experience. This is one of my favorite places to eat in Austin. They generally have really good. Live music usually starting around 7 PM. The food is always on point and spectacular. The service is immaculate. We went here for my 48th birthday over the weekend. Wow what an amazing experience. First, Jonathan is THE BEST waiter we have ever had. He made me feel like a celebrity. Chatted us up as if we were regulars as opposed to out of towners, introduced us to other folks at the bar, and made us the BEST lemon drops we've ever had. I've been to multiple Eddie V's locations and mainly because of the service, this by far has to be one of the best. The bartender Gary was amazing, courteous, and attentive. Unfortunately, my steak was not cooked to the requested temperature. Seth, the manager seemed to make it his personal priority to ensure the next one brought out was right and to make amends for the mishap. Needless to say, the next one was perfect and gave room for me to enjoy the bar and live music and along with the laid back atmosphere. Visited Eddie V's in Austin and chose to sit at the bar. The atmosphere was lively and upscale, and once we were finally able to order, the food and drinks were very good. The bartender was clearly doing his best, but he was extremely busy, so we had to wave him down for service multiple times. What really threw us off was being seated at the bar, settled in, and then asked to move because those seats were "reserved." We moved without issue, but no reservation ever actually showed up. We found seats on the other side of the bar and ordered another round of drinks and some food, but the service challenges continued. We had to ask for drinks twice from two different people and still waited quite a while. Despite the hiccups, the quality of the food and atmosphere did shine through. Eddie V's still delivers a polished dining experience overall, but the bar service and communication could definitely use some tightening. I'd return--but only with a table reservation next time. read more

We came here on Valentine's Day and it was the best decision we made. We went with our friends and were treated so well from start to finish. The staff was absolutely delightful and the food was incredible. We ordered steak, shrimp, and the mac and cheese. Oh my goodness, the macaroni and cheese was topped with truffle breadcrumbs and it was so delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection. Each of the ladies was given a rose, which was such a beautiful and thoughtful touch that made us feel truly special. Our dessert presentation was phenomenal. I cannot remember exactly what we ordered, but it came out with a fire presentation and it was such a fun surprise. The ambiance is elevated and truly fine dining. Even though the restaurant was full of people celebrating, it was not too loud at all, and the space is large enough that everyone feels comfortably spread out. For more years then I care to remember, Eddie V's has been a constant measure of excellence. It has the unique ability to bring old skool elegance to modern chic. Living SW Austin, has kept us out of the downtown scene, however we do venture out from time to time for staycation celebrations. This was the case for our recent visit. It was my Suzie's 70th and an excellent reason to celebrate. I made reservations a month or so in advance for a table of 4. I got a phone call from Eddie V's to confirm the reso, the occasion and to review Suzie's Allergies the day of. Nice touch, makes one feel classy. They have valet parking, but we had a ride, so parking was a no brainer. Upon arrival, our table was ready, in one of their back room areas in a wooden panelled room. We felt removed from the rest of the restaurant, but included in the ambiance. Alexander our waiter, quickly came by and introduced himself. They utilize a team service here, but Alex was definitely going to guide through this evenings dinner. Superb waiter. Polite, funny, informed and there when we needed him and not there when we didn't. It was like, he had a third sense to know when we wanted something else or a question. Cannot ask for more than that. Dinner was delicious. It started with a complementary Amuse, to get the palate in check. Although Suzie cannot enjoy the 16 Oyster spread we ordered, she did enjoy the Calamari. I like how they prepare the Calamari at Eddie V's. They combine some veggies with the Calamari and lightly battered. The Oyster's were all East Coast, from Blue Point, Summer Love, Shooting Point and MoonLight Bay. Sweet, fresh with subtle brininess. My bro in law ordered the Lamb Chops and Chilean Sea Bass which they enjoyed. Wifey and I, optimistically ordered steaks. Mine Oscar style with a Crab topping. Optimistically... only because it seems the past few times at other establishments when we have ordered steaks, more times then not, they cannot seem to prepare steaks medium. Undercooking seems to be the new Medium. Why we had this silly bias is ridiculous here at Eddie V's. They were perfectly cooked to our request. I shared with Alex our trepidations and he mentioned he never is concerned with the grill guys, they have been here for many years and know their stuff. They certainly do. We opted to also ordere the Au Gratin, epic and some grilled asparagus, with nice char. I will mentioned that not only did they provide us with a complimentary Amuse, but a Champagne Toast for Suzie's 70th and a celebratory desert with fire and all the stuff. Even though we don't get by as much as we used to, Eddie V's Always... Always nails it. Do you get what you pay for? Absolutely. Yummy! Eddie V's is known for their seafood and this celebratory dinner did not disappoint. Yes, all the dishes are expensive but you get what you pay for. For a group of 5, we got everything to share including lamb, tuna, mac n cheese, fish of the day, shellfish tower, and calamari. My favorites are the shellfish tower and the mac n cheese! If you add caviar, then it becomes "The Big Eddie", which has layers and makes for a great picture. The entrees take about 18 minutes to make but it didn't feel that long especially with a friendly and knowledgeable server. They were able to explain the best parts of the menu and I also love that they brought up the special of the day: fish. Great meal, but definitely come here for a celebration. read more

My brother and I were looking for good seafood. We stopped and the valet was so rude and obnoxious that we left. We called to cancel our reservation and let them know why. She said wait I'll get a manager...the phone rang off the hook, no manager. From.my perspective, retraining is.required.at a minimum, removal would be my choice. The valet gave the impression that his would be a great job of it weren't for the pesky customers. The real downside was that we went to another restaurant 5 blocks away and had a great meal. I visited Eddie V's downtown for dinner. The ambiance reminds me a bit of a hotel. There are booths with tables in the center of the dining room. We were sat down at a table. People occasionally bumped into our chairs, which was disappointing. I ordered a glass of white wine that the server recommended. We had the yellowtail sashimi to start. It was light and tasty. The fish could've been cut into smaller pieces but it was still easy to eat with chopsticks. I had the lobster for my main course. It was flavorful and well seasoned. I enjoyed the asparagus with hollandaise sauce. The mashed potatoes with lobster was also delicious. The wine paired very well with the lobster. Our food took a while to come out, but it was busy so that's understandable. For dessert, we had the banana fosters butter cake. It was very good. I enjoyed the table side flambee. The cake was rich and it tasted great with the butter pecan ice cream. I also had an espresso martini with tequila. It was a great way to end the dinner. Overall, I had a great experience. read more

My steak was medium well, tender and seasoned, my mash potatoes had a few lumps in them but over all they good. My crem brûlée was delicious. My White Russian was strong, I only needed one. My husband ordered the Red Fish Special with the crab fries rice and the banana foster for dessert. He loved his entire meal. He said the rice and fish were seasoned well.
