Wife and I were in the Strawberry Hill area of Charlotte and realized that many moons had passed since we were last at the Red Rocks Cafe. It was lunch, so we joined the crowd, literally, to get a table. Nice place with great service and servers and a very complete menu. Daniel J. was our server in the left from entry dining room. Pleasant, and I noted that it was mostly all women lunching. A special was the Blackened Mahi Mahi ($40!) and I was able to substitute smashed potatoes for the flavored rice. It was excellent. A good sized hunk of grilled fish, the potatoes and some lightly steamed veggies. I ate everything and refills for my half & half tea ($3.75) were regular Wife had the Chicken Salad Fruit Plate ($18). She did not like the large chunks of chicken as being too large. But otherwise she did like the fruit and the flavoring of the chunky chicken. Very nice place and recommended. Big bar and other rooms for special occasions or for general use. read more

I've heard so much about this place over the years and wanted to finally try it out. I join the EAL retirement group for a monthly dinner and this place has been on the radar. It was a Tuesday evening around 5p and we sat on the patio. It wasn't busy at all when we arrive but by 630p, it was filling up quickly. It's a bit of a challenge to find since it's BEHIND The Super Chix and Orvis. Your GPS will have you going in circles. It's BEST to turn onto Old Sardis Rd behind Sam's Minimart it will take you right to parking. They have plenty of free parking but get there early because it's likely to fill up quickly at prime time. The patio is nice, partly covered and partly inside. On a nice weather day, you'll get plenty of fresh air and it's not too loud. The service from Cameron was outstanding. He was very attentive and kept everyone's glass filled. I had the Blackened Mahi, it comes with rice and broccoli. It was OK, the veggies were not seasoned well and the Mahi had good flavor, it was a small portion for $38 bucks. read more

I have been to this restaurant many years ago and I don't remember it being much to write home about. However, I went here again for restaurant week and it was delicious. The service was also great. I got the she crab soup with had good size pieces of crab in it. It also has a great flavor. For dinner, I got lobster ravioli which was also delicious and had plenty of lobster in it. It also came with asparagus. The meal was very good and full of flavor. For dinner we got the chocolate cake to go and it was a bit dry. Not my favorite dessert but the rest of the food was delicious so I do not base my review on the dessert. The place was also packed when we got there on a Saturday night which speaks volume. My friend and I are traveling from out of town and were excited that we got to be here for Charlotte restaurant week. We chose this place based on the menu. We showed up for our reservation but there was about a 10-15 minute wait. I ordered a Paloma to drink (tasty watery) and for the 3 course meal, I ordered the Queso-spinach dip (it was bland and had a weird taste to it), the crab stuffed flounder (it came with rice pilaf and asparagus) and I upgraded to the oreo cheesecake for dessert. The food was OK to me. It could have used more seasoning. My one friend did enjoy his blackened lemon chicken that came with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. My other friend did not enjoy the she-crab soup (it was so creamy, it was separating and didn't have a lot of crab in it). All in all, the food was mediocre. We went to Red Rocks yesterday for lunch to celebrate my son's Confirmation. Although the food was okay, it was not outstanding and I have to say that it took a very long time for our food to arrive. It ended up being about a 2 hour lunch for 5 people ordering salads and sandwiches. I do think it has a nice post church atmosphere, but I don't think it will be on my short list for a revisit anytime soon. read more

First visit at Red Rocks Cafe on Charlotte. Loved there was so much to chose from on the menu - steaks, seafood, pasta and chicken. We tried the she crab soup that was thick and flavorful. Met a dear old friend for dinner and a catch up. We dined on an outdoor patio which had a heating unit which was nice as the temperatures began to drop at nightfall. The food was great, I ordered CHICKEN QUATTRO FORMAGGIO and added shrimp. It was a creamy, cheesy delight! The perfect amount of everything!!! It's a very large serving. I wasn't even able to get half way through when I had it packed up to take home. My dinner companion and I shared a HUGE piece of carrot cake which was absolutely divine! Yummy yummy cream cheese frosting and the perfect amount of ingredients and moistness. I would have rated a 5, but our server just wasn't as attentive as I would have liked. I ordered a cocktail, which I never received. I wasn't charged so no harm no foul, HOWEVER, I was looking forward to tasting their spin on a Moscow Mule. Unfortunately, we had very few check-ins, and when we asked for coffee (regular), we were brought decaf. He made it right, but attentiveness matters and is observed when you are a server. I ordered a salad with grill chicken and ranch. The food came out fast. It was really good. It was a good portion size and the food tasted great. I was greeted by friendly hostess staff members at the door and the Owner led us to our table and got an appetizer working for us immediately. The food is always fresh, well prepared and the service is impeccable. Our server timed her interactions with us being observant of how our conversation was going in the need to have time for uninterrupted conversation. I waited to dine here for a 3rd time, before I understood why it's normally pretty busy. Consistently above average and/or excellent. Great service and good wine. Ambiance is more adult than other places in the area, which is a relief. We didn't have to hear parents training their kids at Red Rocks. Red Rocks was mentioned a few times in the Charlotte Foodies Facebook group, I figured I'd try it out. Service I was greeted by Erin at the entrance pastry case, who was friendly and quick to seat me. My waiter Garrett was attentive, helpful, and didn't even flinch when I asked too many questions about the sides like I was taking a pop quiz. Starter I ordered a cup of She Crab Soup to start. It comes with a drizzle of sherry on top and a packet of saltines, classy and nostalgic at the same time. While it doesn't quite top the She Crab Soup at Eddie's Place, it definitely puts up a solid fight. Let's call it the Pepsi to Eddie's Coke. Main Course I went with the 1/2 rack of ribs. They were fall-off-the-bone tender, coated in a sticky, sweet sauce with just a hint of heat. Not quite a Carolina reaper situation, more like a polite tap on the shoulder. I didn't need any extra sauce and found myself going full caveman, cleaning each bone like it owed me money. The wild rice risotto was good. Cheesy, flavorful, and a smarter side choice than baked beans if you don't want to fall asleep by 9. Sweet potato fries were fine. Definitely the standard frozen kind, but they served their purpose. Dessert I didn't have room for dessert, but I took a slice of Oreo cheesecake to go. It's made by Queen City Pastry in Mooresville, and based on past experience, it's probably going to ruin my self-control later tonight. Overall Vibe Red Rocks is the kind of place that works for nearly any occasion. The menu is huge: burgers, pasta, steaks, seafood, salads. You could bring your picky aunt, your steak-loving cousin, or your friend who only eats chicken fingers. It's casual, but the food is better than you'd expect from a place this broad. Solid experience overall. And as for Aqua e Vino, lock your doors and update your voicemail. Some of us are out here hungry. read more

Sometimes when dining, customer service can definitely make or break it when you're trying somewhere new. Bianca definitely won us over. She was so kind and super helpful. I appreciate how she was even so generous enough to let us try to have a better idea of how the sherry-lobster crème sauce tasted before ordering. We were hesitant at first but she was so reassuring on the dish she didn't steer us wrong. My girlfriend and I done here during restaurant week. Because we knew how packed it can get during this time, we went ahead and made reservations ahead of time but still got seated with no wait. Bianca was so honest with her recommendations it helped tremendously. The medallions are definitely the way to go if you're feeling something meaty. The fried onions are honestly a great pair. My favorite however were the lobster ravioli. If you know seafood, you know in nc sometimes the portion sizes can be on the smaller side. However with this dish, it will definitely fill you. It comes with a generous amount of 8-10 shells with a decent amount of shrimp and asparagus to fill you as well! I hosted my birthday dinner here and very glad I did. We were seated in the patio and the server was TOP notch. We were a large crowd and it was just him. He took his time to make sure we were all taken care of. I got the filet and shrimp which was good, except I wasn't the biggest fan of the sauce. I ate the food without it and it very delicious. I was elated to visit another Red Rocks location. The service and food did not disappoint. The ambiance was warm and welcoming. My party of two was seated quickly. I ordered a Blackberry Old Fashioned--how delightful! I ordered the Spinach and walnut Ravioli with grilled shrimp on top for my entree. This dish was exquisite! Frankly, the ravioli stood out on its own without the shrimp. The crunch of the nuts brought me in to enjoy the pasta and spinach. We ordered some cake (maybe a sponge) with a chocolate topping for dessert. It was served with a side of vanilla bean ice cream. The ice cream was good. The cake, not so much. On my way out, I noticed the layered chocolate cake and ordered a slice to take home. This was one of the delectable desserts I have known Red Rocks to serve, and it was so good I was happy to share. I wanted to come back and update my review from 12 years ago stating that Red Rocks is one of my favorite restaurants in the Charlotte area. I can confirm it is still my favorite restaurant in the Charlotte area. We recently started coming back to the South Park location as the Indian Land, SC location closer to us unfortunately shut down. Our latest order: -Pomegranate Mimosa and Pomegranate Martini - both were very good, not sure which we liked more, but maybe the martini. -She Crab Soup - I'll preface and say that I'm not a big fan of this soup to begin with, but I really enjoyed it. My husband definitely enjoyed it! -Crab cake appetizer - they did not have this at the other location, so I was excited to try their crab cakes. They don't compete with my favorite crab cakes in the area, but they are still very good, and I would get them again. I really enjoyed them with the dill sauce! -Cajun Chicken Pasta - my favorite meal! Love the cajun cream sauce. It is paired with chicken, sausage, and creole vegetables. -Quattro Formaggio - my husband's favorite meal. It is a very cheesy pasta! Love the combination of chicken, bacon, mushrooms, and tomatoes. -Oreo Cheesecake - my favorite dessert, so it is always a must order. It has the perfect texture and love all the oreo's and chocolate on top! While this is not made in house, they are supporting another local bakery with this cheesecake and their other desserts - absolutely love that! Other recommendations: -Chicken Marsala -Chicken Saltimbocca Food and service have always been consistent at each location, which is another reason why I love Red Rocks so much. I always know I'm going to have a great meal - lunch or dinner, whether it is at the South Park or Huntersville location. A couple of friends and I visited Red Rocks during Queen's Feast. We arrived a little early for our 7:00 o'clock reservation. The area by the hostess stand was very crowded. I wasn't sure if this was typical for a Friday night or due Queen's Feast. After waiting a few moments, we were taken to our table. Our server was friendly but he appeared tired and was kinda rushing us along. I say that because after selecting our drinks we ordered appetizers, not part of Queen's Feast, he mumbled "oh so we're doing that." It was unsettling but not enough to impact our evening. We ordered the Frosted Cosmo. It was very delicious. Unfortunately, I think it's a seasonal cocktail. But worthy of being on the menu all the time! Our food was very good. Our appetizers were the Spinach Queso dip and Buffalo shrimp. The Spinach dip was very good. My friends said the shrimp were very good. Since I'm allergic, I did not try them. For Queen's Feast, I had the Caesar salad, the Filet medallions, and the brownie. My food was flavorful and well seasoned except the broccoli which was barely steamed. This was my first time at this particular location but I've frequented the restaurant before. I was not pleased that at least 4-5 servers walked past us and not one of them greeted us. We waited and waited until I asked for a manager. The place was not busy so that cannot be an excuse. I ordered the jambalaya which I had before and tonight there was a vast difference. It just didn't taste great. Our server ended up great . I just think he may have overlooked us. I will definitely visit again to see if that jambalaya gets better! read more

The Hostess and our Server were great. We often come here for Special Occasions or just a good lunch or dinner. Tonight my wife and I each ordered our favorite BLACKENED SEAFOOD SALAD. We were all (5 of us) enjoying our dinner and having a nice conversation. After a few minutes of eating my wife asked if my Seafood had a generous amount of Blackening Seasoning and I replied yes. She said she couldn't really taste any on hers. I looked and tasted and hers had none and was extremely bland. When our server came by next I told her. She asked if my wife wanted some new Seafood prepared the correct way. By this time she was halfway through and said no. Usually someone from Management stops by and asks if everything is okay. NOT TONIGHT. I don't know if it was the person on the Fish Station or the Expo, but this salad should have never made it to our table. How disappointing.
