I had friends doing a couple month road trip, traveling with their dog and we needed to meet at a pet friendly joint. We live in Lebanon while they were staying downtown so we thought the 12 South location would be nice for them to see. My wife and I arrived and were quickly greeted by manager Blaine. What a great dude! Appreciate the time he took out of a busy day to talk with us, grab water for their dog. I got the brisket & sausage plate with green beans and the grits casserole. That casserole is now on my must order list! My wife had the pulled pork sandwich, Will Levi's style (add mayo). Plenty of parking in back of the restaurant and 90 minutes is free. After we went, one off the people in our group said they'd be fantasizing about this place until our next trip to Nashville. We tried many different meat's and side and All the food we had was off the hook. Except the corn bread was dry sand forgettable. If it wasn't for the cornbread, it'd be five stars. The highlight for me was the service. I arrived late on a Friday evening, and they were still busy. Despite the hour, and some antics from a couple customers, the staff was very professional and accommodating. There were big smiles, and when they asked, "Is there anything else I can get you?," it felt very genuine and not at all forced. As for the food, the brisket was the definite stand out; perfectly tender with a perfect amount of smoke. The sauce, while tasty, was unnecessary. I can't say the same for the pulled pork and chicken, as the sauce was definitely necessary; both were pretty dry, and while the pork had decent flavor, I found the chicken pretty underwhelming and wouldn't order it again. When it comes to sides, the mac & cheese was average (nothing to write home about, but it'll get the job done), but the baked beans were great (big chunks of meat throughout), and the cornbread and slaw hit the spot as well. read more

Our group of 4 got the ribs, chicken nachos and brisket tacos. The food, all entrees were excellent and not skimpy at all. You order at the counter and the person taking your order was awesome along with the one that brought us our meals. We enjoyed a very comfortable place to visit and see our granddaughter!! Im updating my review to include the ribs, fried pickles, and the collard greens, but if you want to see my more extensive thoughts and other items look at my original review. Half rack of ribs: 8/10 - They're not fall off the bone, but they are very flavorful and the meat is tender. There exist better ribs for sure, but you get a really good meal from these (though yes they're expensive). Collard Greens: 6/10 - Pretty average, though they do have a good spicy kick to them. It's what you expect with collard greens. Fried Pickles: 6.5/10 - They come out piping hot, and well breaded/fried, though I do wish they had a bit more seasoning on them. The sauce they come with pairs PERFECTLY though and cuts the temperature with a coolness and rich, smooth flavor. read more

While visiting Nashville we tried Edley's Bar-B-Que on East Nashville. We had the burnt ends and brisket Tacos with the potato salad, Cole slaw, Mac & cheese and banana pudding. All items were very tasty. The tacos had a nice bite to them and the burnt ends were tasty with a bed of grits casserole. The banana pudding we had to try as Nashville is known for it. It was tasty but very rich so portion was plenty. read more

By far the best meal I had in Nashville. The smoked brisket was delish. The catfish nuggets were crunchy and tender inside. (wish they served more). Their wings were really good as well. Sides were great. I wish we had a second meal here. Definitely worth a visit. read more

As always Thom and I went here together - here are our thoughts... ‍Thom‍: We came here because it was top rated for brisket - they were out so can't speak to that. We did however get hot chicken and pork. Forgettable sounds mean, it's just food, but I guarantee you I will forget it. Shame since this was our 1 out of 2 bbq locations we're going to while in Nashville. Pretty disappointing given the hype we built up to it. 2.5/5 Dorth ‍ You know the brisket and ribs must be 6/5because they were SOLD OUT at 8pm on a cold Thursday. Staff was very nice and we got hot chicken that had a nice slow heat and moist pulled pork. Liked the Mac and cheese and potato salad side best. 4/5! read more

Went to Edley's for the first time in several years, and it's still my favorite BBQ spot in Nashville! The staff is friendly and the prices are decent for great BBQ. There can be a bit of wait but they do allow you to order drinks while waiting in line outside. There's a parking lot out back and street parking. My go-to meal is the brisket platter and bushwhacker. The platter comes with corn bread and 2 sides- I got the coleslaw and mac n cheese. The bushwhacker is essentially a boozy chocolate milkshake, and Edley's has my favorite in Nashville! Highly recommend Edley's if you visit Nashville. read more

Servers here are so friendly!! Ambiance is so chill and casual which makes it a great hangout spot. And the food, well it's the best bbq I've ever had, and I've been to Texas and South Carolina lol two that says a lot! Got the fish and the combo platter with all the meats and do not skip out on the Mac and cheese. It was truly one of a kind. And that banana pudding, I could have a gallon of it. The ribs were fantastic and it wasn't that usual overly sweet marinate. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked. I'll 100% come back here when I'm in Nashville. read more

Did the combo platter with 3 meats and 4 sides. The brisket was on the drier side for me. The ribs and sausage were as good as the chicken was decent. The bread budding was yummy. Our cousins took us to eat at this neighborhood BBQ joint before we left Nashville. It was busy for a Monday afternoon but we got our food pretty quickly. We chose an indoor booth/table and enjoyed our fish fry platter and BBQ pork plate with various sides and cornbread. Service was friendly and quick and food tasted great. If you're looking for delicious bbq. COME HERE. Don't walk, run. You're welcome :) Now on to the review. I found this place on Yelp, looking for the best bbq around Nashville. I've been here one other time and had some bbq at another spot, it was decent, but didn't knock my socks off. The reviews for this place were great, so figured we would give it a try. You walk in, order your food up front and they give you a number to place on the table while you wait. We ordered everything! My bf is a big bbq fan, more specifically ribs and ordered that along with brisket, the wings and I ordered the burnt ends platter. WE DEMOLISHED IT ALL and then took a few wings home because we were so full. We sat at the bar after ordering and Ryan was amazing. So sweet and knowledgeable about the bar and the food. My bf LOVED the ribs and he's a hard hard critic to his own ribs. I've never heard him speak so highly of anyone's else's ribs. The burnt ends were perfect. Charred in the right places, meaty and the grits casserole was amazing. We enjoyed all the sides we tried. And we loved the place so much we came back the next day when they opened to get our fix before hitting the road. Now I can say with confidence this is the best bbq I've had in Nashville without a doubt. Go eat here. You won't regret it. read more

We came in about half an hour before closing and the staff were really nice about it. They were still friendly and happy to serve. I ordered the burnt ends with potato salad. The burnt ends were so tender and delicious. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Lol he minute I stuck my fork into the meat, it was practically falling apart. The flavor was phenomenal too. It was a little Smokey with the perfect amount of bbq sauce. I'm not a huge fan of polenta because of the texture but theirs was actually really creamy! It was probably the best polenta I've ever had. I also really enjoyed the potato salad. It wasn't too creamy like some mayo based potato salads are. The cornbread was pretty dry though. I'm not sure if it's because it was the end of the day, but I really needed a few gulps of water after one bite. My cousin ordered the brisket and she really enjoyed the flavor too. She also said it was fork tender. My bestie ordered half a rack of ribs and they were huge. You could honestly feed two people alone. The space is fairly big. They've got plenty of tables inside and an outdoor seating area. They also had a full bar to the left of the entrance. I can understand why it's been voted the Best Barbecue in Nashville. Pretty cool spot. It's a pretty packed area. We parked in the parking lot right across the street and it was paid parking. We went around 2-2:30 pm on a Sunday and it was still pretty packed. We pretty much just went up to the counter to place our order, took our number, got our drink, and sat down. We chose to sit in the bar area since they had some empty tables there. There were lots of different drinks to choose from. Food wise: I got the turkey platter and the turkey came out cold. The cornbread was a little too dry for me, but it wasn't bad at all. The Mac n cheese was pretty good. I also ordered some wings (Buffalo) and it was pretty good. The wings were my favorite thing here. The tech time wasn't too bad. It took about 20 minutes for us to get our food. In all, I didn't have a bad experience at all and would probably come back. read more

Found this place about 10 min away from the airport and 3 min from our hotel. Ordered the three meat platter. Pulled pork, chicken, brisket. Ordered Mac and cheese and banana pudding as sides. Came out on a tray with the meats, pudding, Mac and cheese and cornbread. The meat was amazing. Moist, flavorful, best BBQ we had in Nashville. The banana pudding was amazing so order it as one of your sides!! Mac and cheese was good as well. Definitely would go back. Owner is personable and there to talk to if you want. Not too loud. The good: food is delicious. Staff is friendly. The bad: We waited in the long line to order brisket sandwiches. After a while someone came out and said they had actually run out of beef and could they bring us pork instead. We were tired and hungry so just said "okay". The thing is, it hit me later that we paid $$$ for brisket but only got the much cheaper pork. They didn't offer to refund anything back. I mean, if they had thrown in a marketing t/shirt or even a dang koozie, I wouldn't be writing this review. Parking is expensive across the street so look for side street options. read more

An absolute classic, I take visitors here whenever they come. I really enjoy their pulled pork in all forms (sandwich, platter, or tacos). Their banana pudding is outstanding, I'm always sure to get it as one of my sides! Mac and cheese, potato salad, and baked beans are all so good as well. Casual bbq dining! Get in line, drool over the menu (be sure to check out their sides, some change seasonally) order your food, get your drinks, have a seat, they bring it to you, EAT! It's that simple AND delicious! I love their nachos topped with your choice of meat (pork, brisket, chicken, turkey). Nachos are made from house potato chips, queso, tomato, green onion and bbq sauce. With their platters they serve large slices of cornbread that have been grilled. Burnt ends are served atop grits casserole. Typically you bus (clean) your own table by taking trays to an area and discarding scraps and trash, but you'll often be intercepted by a staff member who kindly takes them from you. Family of four, we went last night around 6pm. We tried the ribs, briquet, sausage, and catfish platter. The meat was falling off the bone. Everyone was talking about how good their meals were. OMG! The food here is amazing! Is it crazy that I want to try a different menu item every time I return because it was just that good?! First of all the place is cowboy casual. Order at the counter, pick out your beverage, grab your number then find an inside or outside place to sit. Food was served quickly and was delicious! Our meats are smoked low and slow using Southern white oak. The sides are made from scratch daily with the same amount of attention. Walking in to Edley's you really feel the sense of a great smoke pit bbq hang out. Wood tables, paper towels on the table, a nice bar with local brews. It's cool and it fits within the great area of 12 ave S. The people are friendly , courteous, and pleasant. at 330 I walked in all the booths filled, five people at the bar; very busy very popular place within the area of 12th Avenue South. What am I going to order when I go to barbecue place but the pork! comes to the table looking fantastic cornbread with the nice portion of barbecue pork and homemade potato salad and baked beans. The barbecue is cold, not luke warm, not hot like it's supposed to be but cold. So I asked the waitress or lady at the counter if this is typical because maybe the barbecue is served at room temperature. stranger things have happened right? She tells me know it should be poppin hot like the baked beans were they were excellent by the way to be but the potato salad not so good. she takes a barbecue away brings it back its not steaming hot its the exact same temperature as it was before. very disappointing I didn't send it back and third time I work in the restaurant industry I don't want to be a quote UN quote "that guy". was very disappointed in the quality of the food. From start to finish, this is the best BBQ restaurant I've been to in Nashville. We had the pulled pork and smoked chicken platters, and we thought both were as good as, or better than, any other BBQ in town. Both the red sauce and the white sauce were perfect compliments to the smoked meats. Also, they have some more intriguing options and daily specials that are not always found at BBQ joints, and we look forward to trying those out in future visits. What sets Edley's far above the competition is that ALL of the sides were interesting and delicious. The jalapeño corn bread was tasty, the baked beans were unique, the bean salad was great, and the mac and cheese was outstanding. It even looked like the sandwiches were served on homemade rolls! Lastly, the ambiance is warm and inviting - from the reclaimed wood to the new deck. This place was amazing!! We just happened to find it after going to Love Circle, had no idea it was in such a cute little part of town. We brought our lab Kona and enjoyed the Pulled Pork Sandwich, and Brisket Tacos. Maybe the best BBQ I've ever had! After we ate we walked around town. There's a cool craft beer shop/mini bar right next door, Draper James if you wanna do some shopping, and a little ice cream store if you want some sweets. I am nuts about fried okra and bbq. I love the dishes here, but if you go on a saturday or sunday the place is too busy with what appears to be "wandering groups of females". I guess Reese Witherspoon's store attracts them to the area and the local real estate is being gobbled up by Vandy doctors, so it is a busy street for window shoppers and the likes. I love fried okra and bbq. This place is really good, but its usually too busy. I have a hard time getting service when its crowded because it seems to be a popular hangout for the "hipsters". Great BBQ place! Brisket was the best (side note: apparently you can only get this at lunch.) Great atmosphere, although I can see how it could get loud at times. Definitely will go back soon. read more

Olivia was kind enough not to charge us for the bottled water she brought. Then I ordered the gumbo (advertised as New Orleans style.) I DO know better, but ordered it anyway, and received a bowl of a thick, gooey, white mess. It was NOT New Orleans gumbo, and it was awful. The wife ordered the pickle, sausage, cheese appetizer, and it wasn't good either. The pickles were kosher sprays sliced and stick onto toothpicks, the cheese was plain pepperjackl squares, and the sausage was cooked beef jerky consistency. There are a lot of good reviews here, so maybe I just experienced an off night, but I won't be coming back. The best experience here was Olivia.
