I had a deeply disappointing experience at this restaurant. While dining, I overheard a server (Adele) tell the sushi chefs that she had been sick for two weeks and shouldn't even be at work. She sounded visibly ill. When she came to my table, I politely shared that my mother is in remission from cancer and asked if another server could assist us, as a precaution for my mom's health. Shortly after, I overheard the server discussing my request at the server station, and to my shock, several staff members erupted in laughter. It was incredibly hurtful and disrespectful. Unless you have experienced the fear of protecting a loved one with a compromised immune system, you may not understand how critical these precautions are -- but to mock a guest's concern is inexcusable. To make matters worse, several servers stared at me as they walked by, making me feel uncomfortable and embarrassed. I almost left the restaurant entirely. This experience left such a bad impression that I will never return. I truly hope the management addresses this behavior, and that the staff is reminded to treat all guests with empathy and professionalism. To start, walking into Edo Japan is shocking, in a good way. Rockwall has so many hibachi/sushi restaurants... and Edo Japan is visually 12 steps above the rest. It is modern, clean, and inviting. After you get past the initial awe of the layout, (huge full bar, comfortable dining, hibachi, and a glowing sushi bar... I opted for dining) you look at the menu that is filled with fresh, quality ingredients. I ordered one of their signature rolls, the Sundae Roll, and a beef bento box. I frequent many of Rockwall's sushi restaurant, and Edo's sushi was hands down the BEST. All of the flavors were there and I could taste the freshness and quality of all their ingredients. Our server suggested that I try one of their cocktails, which I did, and it was delicious. All of the juices that they use are fresh made daily. Quality like this is rare these days. I think the best part of Edo, the part that really impressed me, was the bakery. They sell the creamiest, richest cheesecake I have ever had... I can't wait to come back and try more! I have been a chef in Dallas for 13 years I was very disappointed in this restaurant I was first standing at door for 6 minutes before even greeted. Was turned down the happy hour prices just because I had my 5 year old with me the prices are only at the bar which kids are not allowed. I was shocked how I was treated because I had my son with me but my son loves sushi so we ordered it was very over prices compared to any other sushi place in rockwall. I am an executive chef in Dallas and specialize in fish. the fish was not fresh it smelled like it was on verge of turning and texture was way off. This is the second time we have been here. The first time we waited 10 minutes for someone to come to our table to acknowledge us and to take our order. The food was very good. We went back today to have the same thing happen, but we walked out when the waitress went to another table after passing our table several times and stopped at the table that had been sat at their table AFTER us. I have managed a restaurant before. The staff should at least say Hi when passing by your table. read more

Ordered 2 sushi dishes 2 soups one chicken fried rice that came with a side of bug!! I have not been more disgusted in my life, while I was eating I spotted the black bug that looked like it was cooked with the food and once I shined a light on it to confirm it was alive and barely moving.... this place should have better quality control. I must say I really did like it here! Best sushi place in Rockwall do not try anywhere else in Rockwall! Every other place was nasty! It made my stomach hurt lol I loved they're fried Cajun style sushi! Yummy! It was the best once you try here you will not go back to any other place in Rockwall. I read lots very good reviews ,then wants try out. service is very good, the waitress was very patiently explain to us a variety of menu, because is the first time we went there , the environment is also very good, we got sushi, salad, I enjoy time there, but, when I got home, I had diarrhea. first off, it is a beautiful restaurant inside the shopping center, just been open for two months, but the food and service are great, i sat at the bar, i cant believe they have such fantasy bar, japanese mojito was very good, and the bartenter was very sweet. i will be back for their happy hour, half price on wine on wednesday. read more

Service was good, I was really excited to eat here but was not very impressed with what I ordered. Rolls weren't rolled very well they were falling apart. Main entree was steak noodles but mostly vegetables and hardly any steak that were very small pieces. Think maybe a bit pricey for what I received. read more
