Decided to try this place after our usual place was closed for the MLK holiday. Upon entering we were greeted with a smile and shown where the menus are. We didn't realize it is more of a fast food sushi place, but it didn't change the experience. Everyone was very nice and the place is clean. The rolls are reasonably priced and you get a lot for your money. It was just my fiance and I so we ordered 3 rolls - Green Hulk, Mason Roll and Passion Roll. I'll start with the most obvious reason for only one star: to order your food you have to go up to the cashier (!) And prepay (!). I had finished some business in the area and was in the mood for sushi. The 1st odd thing I noticed: although there was a proper sushi bar (with a little window showing the fish, sushi chef, etc.) instead of chairs lined up, as usual, there were tables butted up against the sushi bar and you sit at a 45-degree angle to the bar (very strange & I've never seen that anywhere in the world ... at any sushi place, anywhere). After picking out an item on the menu, I ask to order and two people (including the sushi chef) point me to a cashier in the corner of the establishment. It doesn't make sense... until I finally realize that you have up and walk over to a cashier to order your meal (at a sitdown restaurant!). Odd, to say the least. Nobody was very friendly which was also part of the1 star (if somebody had been friendly and explained to me why they have this strange M.O, I might have changed it to 2 stars). But there were plenty of people working there, so it didn't make any sense to have this lack of service. Having to pre-pay was also odd, but so be it. Oh, basically you have to pay your tip then (when you sign your credit card slip). That is without even having tried the food yet!). Suffice it to say, I didn't leave much tip at all (maybe I should've left nothing, as that would have been more fair and appropriate - at least in this case, given all the circumstances - FYI, it's VERY, extremely rare that I would ever leave no tip at all). The price was reasonable for the sushi roll I got but it was on the warm side (the fish at least should be a little cold for freshness - I also like the rice a bit cold as well, which is usually the case at a good sushi bar). The taste was fair to good. The complaint/1 star is not about the quality of the food itself. On that alone, I would give it 3.75 stars. If it had been cold, I would've given it 4 stars (again, that's just the food alone). The smallest complaint is there is no alcohol available. When I asked about it they weren't friendly or understanding but sort of robotic. In summary, the whole experience was almost like walking into an alternate universe, where restaurants aren't like they normally are on earth - the experience was odd (mainly because pretty much any other sushi bar I've ever been to in North Texas operates normally, as expected). I suppose if you're getting food to go, this might be a solution for some folks. I've been to the one in uptown, but we were in the area and decided to try this location. We arrived here around 6:00pm and it wasn't too busy yet. When we opened the door, I noticed how dark the inside was. The menu board was too blight that hurt my eyes. If they are trying to create the romantic restaurant, they aren't doing a great job. Some tables were still left unclean. Ordering process was okay. We had sushi F, geisha roll, and salmon sashimi. Sashimi was still frozen and it seems like the quality wasn't as good. This Edohana Sushi location, although small in size, comes with a flavor packed menu. My personal favorite while visiting this location are the rolls. This time I ordered the Crunch Tempura roll and the On the Border roll. While the On the Border roll had it's own light spiciness along with outer texture, the Crunch Tempura roll included shrimp and a more flavor rich roll. Personally, preferred the Crunch Tempura roll. The ambiance of this small location consists of a low lit environment with popular American pop songs playing in the background. The sushi bar is decorated and behind it is the menu board filled with reasonably priced items (generally cheap). Although this place doesn't have the capacity to host large parties, it is certainly a quick lunch stop that won't let you down on flavor. Two words : MONSTER ROLL!!! That is the best sushi roll that I've ever had IN MY LIFE ! The grilled fish on top really sets it apart from any other roll. It's very filling as well, so one roll is more than enough. I ordered a "side" salad to eat with my roll. It was a whole large carryout box full & it was only $3!!! I asked them did they charge me correctly because I was not expecting that much salad for that price. Their ginger dressing is delicious as well, so it was a very enjoyable eat although I couldn't finish (& trust me, I tried). A suburban sushi shop that offers a decent amount of sushi, rolls, and japanese fare. The atmosphere is any typical japanese place. I tried a few things and felt I got what I paid for. The Dragon roll is good, although, it was a little sweeter than I like. They give you a good amount for what it is. Their BBQ Eel Bowl had a great, robust yet sweet flavor. They give you a decent amount of eel, even though there's lots of rice on the bottom. The Bento box is standard. The salad and rice are filler, but the tempura was battered and fried lovely. The bulgogi beef was not the best, but the marinade they use was tasty enough for what I paid. The california roll they give is just OK. Their on the border roll is decent, but there's not as much flavor as I expected. its also quite thin, so it falls apart easily as you pick it up. Dont try to dunk them in sauce or youll have your roll fall apart. The cajun roll is good, but it comes off more like Frank's Red Hot Sauce. The spice level does get up there, but nothing unbearable. Overall, its not a bad choice for lunch, but after a few more visits, I may enjoy other items. read more

There is yet another great spot for lunch in the LC area! In my quest to try every lunch spot within a reasonable distance of the studios in Las Colinas, I came across Edohana today, and I wasn't disappointed! When I entered, the staff was very friendly! The woman asked me if I had been here before, and then proceeded to show me the menu and where I could also look up on the board for specials. The place is medium sized....I found a table for myself, but I can see how it easily could fill up during lunch. I ordered a hot green tea and the Chirishi bowl. So good! The fish was very fresh and good! The rice was also on point! Like a lot of the other reviews stated, the prices are great. This isn't my favorite sushi spot, but with the location being close to one of my gigs and the prices being so awesome...it's definitely going into my heavy rotation of sushi. It makes the sushi even more unappetizing than it already is. The garnish was not in uniform. I have a picture to show you. Other than how bad the quality of the sushi was, this restaurant is a very Americanized sushi joint. California, Philadelphia, and Louisiana rolls would probably be their top 3 selling rolls - I wouldn't be surprised. Someone recently told me that you can tell how good an Asian restaurant is by how many Asian customers you see. I was the only Asian customer. They brought out the California roll first and it was a pretty good sized roll. But when I took a bite, I noticed that the rice was way too warm, as if they had just taken the rice out from a rice cooker. Sushi rice isn't supposed to be warm, and that alone caused the roll to taste a bit off. The BBQ eel bowl was also huge, but I think that they put more rice than needed. I also found huge pieces of bones and a lot of skin on the eel, and so I had to spend some time picking out the bones. Wow. I logged into Yelp expecting to see several other one-star reviews, and I am honestly shocked to see a four-star rating! If this is the only sushi place you've eaten and you were genuinely pleased, go try just about any other place! It's guaranteed to wow you. This was a very chaotic experience. The restaurant is incredibly disorganized, with a difficult-to-read menu and a confusing ordering process. From there, I seated myself and was left to my own devices to locate chopsticks and other items like soy sauce and my drink. To their credit, the house green salad with typical ginger dressing is massive. However, it's also so drenched in dressing that it verges on inedible. I also ordered a typical spicy tuna roll (only because I could hardly decipher the other options from the menu on the wall across the room from the ordering counter). The roll came out loosely rolled and pretty much thrown onto my plate. The sushi all but fell apart, despite what I'd usually consider advanced chopstick skills. I also noticed some kitchen equipment (which is out in the open for everyone to see) that did not appear to be commercial grade. Seems a bit sketch.
