We engaged with Edri construction to perform a remodel of our small kitchen in a 1925 San Francisco Fourplex. I would consider this a challenging project as we had limited space to work with and wanted to build in more counter/cabinet space while also adding in a dishwasher and replacing other appliances. This required new electrical and plumbing. The team was unfazed by the scope and was ready to start following week. From the outset, the process was highly organized making decisions simple and hands-off as possible for us. They immediately sought out all required permits while keeping us informed on the important details only and handling all the permitting minutia themselves. So happy we found Edri Construction to do a few major exterior repairs on our house. I'd met with two other companies prior to contacting Edri--one declined the job, and another ghosted me. I left either a voicemail or a message on Edri's website (can't remember) and they called me back the same day and our Project Manager, Isaac, came out soon thereafter to check things out and start the estimate process. Isaac gave me the estimate exactly when he said they would, and at this point I had a feeling we would be in good hands because the communication and follow-up were all on point. Our house needed new fascia and soffits and a new balcony cap, and after seeing a few houses with natural wood soffits, I wanted to change the plan from matching the existing painted soffits. This was no problem for Edri and they helped select a beautiful cedar wood and brought the vision to life. The work went pretty much as planned with some minor delays for expected things--weather, etc. No nightmares where the work gets behind and you have no idea when it will be done. Communication was so great and everyone who worked on our house was professional and friendly. They even arranged to take their lunch breaks when our kid had her nap. Isaac would come out at the end of major milestones to inspect the work with me and make sure I was happy. Minor issues I found were addressed with no hassle. We picked Edri to do a complete remodel of a condo we bought in SF which sits in a high rise. Hardwood flooring, new kitchen, bathroom, new door frames and doors etc. We were under a very tight time constraint since we had someone moving in within 6 weeks. We were impressed by Edri's reviews and our initial meeting with Isaac. They had plenty of experience dealing with challenging HOA restrictions and executing on schedule. Isaac, Pablo and the crew jumped in to the project as soon as we got the HOA approval and carved out a detailed plan with dates. We are currently paying more than $5000.00 to repair the shower this company rebuilt, due to a leaky drain-which means the originally build rushed the test to be sure the drain wouldn't leak. We are so lucky we saw the leak before there was structural damage. We cannot ask this company to fix their mistake, because we don't trust them. We are finding all kinds of cover ups (for example glue used to adhere a cover on the brace for the shower glass to make it look like it's screwed in place). We had to rebuild the faucet mount in the kitchen, and the second bathroom shower is so poorly constructed water pools in places and we have to manually guide it to the drain. read more

We hired Edri to do a complete remodel of our Primary Bathroom with one catch: I was 6.5 months pregnant with twins and we needed it done before I gave birth. Edri said they could handle it and we're true to their word. Someone was there, moving things forward, nearly every day. We even made some last minute additions to the plans (heated floor and towel rack) and they were able to accommodate us and still finish before the deadline. After five years in my condo, I decided to remodel my tiny and impractical kitchen. I consulted 5 different companies. Everyone gave roughly the same estimates. I chose Edri after meeting a few times with Isaac, who was the project manager. Isaac quickly grasped what I needed, had great initial suggestions about layout and options for scope of the project. I really liked his attitude and his attention to detail. He presented a detailed estimate for work and delivery date, which we stuck to. I greatly appreciated that he managed everything so well: permits, different vendors, architect, structural engineer and cabinet designers. It was like a one-stop shop. Every construction worker that came over for different stages of the project were experts in what they were doing. The work was thorough and of great quality. I have seen some projects with shoddy craftsmanship and that was one of my fears, but all the work they did was impeccable. They were also very mindful of protecting my floors and surfaces. I hired Edri Construction shortly after buying my house to do a complete bathroom renovation, new roof, all new windows, electric and some miscellaneous other things. Issac was my project lead. Overall I had a really good experience. Below are some highlights and things they could work on. Positives: very responsive, quick to get a quote, the permit process took the expected amount of time, the project finished within the estimated time frame, any issues that arised were promptly taken care of. One of Issac's favorite sayings was "I'll take care of it". They are a company that really cares about the work they do, so if you aren't satisfied they will fix it/if an error is made they own up to it. The finished product came out great. Things to improve: better communication in terms of extra costs for things: the reno came in way over budget, when quoting pricing, finished materials may not be included in the estimate but there should be a conversation at the start for how much finished materials that will be provided by the contractor (like a glass shower door) will cost. And when you provide a quote for the roof replacement you should do a thorough inspection beforehand so the price does not increase by $10000 when it is discovered the plywood needs to be replaced. The main issue,however was lack of oversight, I liked Issac but oversight was lacking. Each homeowner is different but I like detailed updates and to know that the work being done is being inspected for quality at all phases of completion. My main issue was the window install; they hired a company to put in the windows and on install day there was no oversight. The windows were poorly installed and had I not been there on that day to take pictures before everything was covered with tacky plastic strips, I don't think it would have been addressed. Another example was I asked if all of the knob and tube electric wiring was removed, I was told yes but when I went to look it was still there in multiple places. All that to say, I think this is a solid company that cares about customer service. Some things could have been done better along the way but the final product was good. read more

Then he said the repairs would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, easily. Do not use this company! Individual arrived and started with all the areas In my condo that would not pass SF Citi my inspection. Advised him that my building was less than twenty plus years and he continued to point out areas. I felt like he was trying to gauge and inflate the quotation and this was after four other contractors advised against his advise!! Be very careful with this company. Thanks for your clarification. However, myself and my HOA definitely are not Interested in cutting any corners and following not only city Inspections guidelines. My concern was this Individual took the liberty to start calling out other ideas / plans that seemed very inappropriate and did not apply to a walk-in shower only Install. To put things in perspective, the previous contractor was trying to increase scope and charge us more and more while doing a really terrible job. Avi and team gave me a very reasonable price, the took care of the permits, plans and everything and during the whole duration of the project, they never increased the scope on 1 dollar. All inspections were passed, job was finished in time and the whole experience was really good, for reference, we did a full basement conversion that looks even more amazing than upstairs. EDRI construction did a fairly complex ground floor seismic retrofit to a three story mixed-use building I manage in Oakland. It involved a lot of foundation and other structural work with some basic interior finish work as well as some work on the exterior wood sheathing and an exterior wood stair. There was some minor electrical and plumbing work involved as well. I worked primarily with David. He was easy to work with, communicative, responsive, conscientious and is a generally good guy. He got the job done to our satisfaction with minimal disruption. Part of the job involved meeting a critical deadline, which EDRI did. However, some of the work that was not as critical took considerably longer than we anticipated. As with any job there were some oversights and mistakes. But David always made sure they were corrected in a timely, professional manner. We also had a few issues with some of the finish work and clean up. But again, David took care of that. One thing I did find lacking--and I'm saying this hoping it will be used as constructive criticism--is ERDIs coordination and oversight of the various trades on the job. A couple of things stand out. In one case the drywall installer buried an electrical service panel in the wall. In another instance, electrical outlets were removed during demolition but no one coordinated their reinstallation with the electrician. The same thing with a door that was removed to build a shear wall. When that work was completed, the door was not put back. We were able to catch these things and other oversights and David always made sure they were corrected. But they could have been avoided with more careful coordination and supervision. In the future, if ERDI would pay more attention to this, they will be top notch and get a five star rating from me, because in the end they did good work in a fairly timely way. But for now, I'm giving them one less star. read more
