Have to repeat it....there is not much to screw up in the way of cooking eggs, hash browns and toast, but the attention to detail REALLY set this place apart. Eggs are cooked perfectly over hard with no burn marks, the hash browns I ordered extra crispy came exactly that way, the CFS was put on top of the gravy rather than smothered in it and the toast was perfect... great coffee and excellent, very friendly service topped off a good breakfast at a nice location. Ed knows what he is doing in the kitchen and it shows. I wish he would open once in a while for dinner. My guess is that he would put out some great grub. I missed her name but the receipt shows server #0005....great service, very friendly and has the best smile and laugh in the place. Nice job! My husband and I found this place when our regular place for breakfast closed up shop. This place was right up the street and we always wanted to try it. From the first day, we were hooked. Ed's is small, but the servers are super friendly and attentive. The food is great as well. One of my favorite breakfast items is Eggs Benedict, and I will usually order it at a new place to see how they do. Ed's was PERFECT! The eggs had a perfect poach, with just the right amount of sauce. One of my husband's favs is the Spinach Omelete. He gets it with egg substitute and it is super tasty. My friends and I finished up a hike and were starving so we headed over to Flappy Jack's for breakfast. The line at Flappy Jacks was WAY too long and we were WAY too hungry so we looked on Yelp for help. We found this place and weren't sure what to expect, but reviews were good and we were starving so we decided to come here. We were so glad we chose to check Ed's Place out because we were all blown away by the food. I shared two dishes with my friend. We ordered the top sirloin steak & eggs: new york steak, two sunny side up eggs, country style potatoes, and biscuit & gravy. We also ordered what I believe was the Hobo omelette (sans bacon) with hash browns, biscuit and gravy. Everything was amazing. Even looking at the pictures I took of the food makes my mouth water! After everyone was finished with their meal, we all wanted a small portion of a Belgian waffle. So we ordered one waffle and split it between four of us. Even the waffle was as good as it gets. I actually like Ed's Place and have been there several times. But, I'm fed up and don't think I will return. The wait staff is great and friendly and the food is pretty good. I especially like the way the chicken fried steak is served, with the sauce underneath so the breading doesn't get all soggy. But the cooks SUCK. Every time I go there, I ask for one simple thing with my order, potatoes well done. I have tried several different ways of asking, Extra Extra Extra well done, crispy, burn em, don't mind waiting longer, when he thinks they're done-cook em longer, bien hecho, quemar las papas, you name it, I've tried it. I usually get the Tuna melt but the omelettes and egg breakfast plates are delicious as well. We love this nook. The service is great, the food is "homey" and big. It's very popular, that alone should be the clue. I am amazed at how many ppl go through Ed's eatery. One morning, as Mike answered the phone, I chimed-in,"Ed's gold mine, Vickie speaking" memorabilia on the walls, airplanes mostly. Booths, counter service and tables/chairs indoors. Shocked! We started comung to Eds when it first opened 14+ yrs ago with our dogs. Today was the last time we will eat there based in the owners attitude. My wife ordered the same omelette she has 90% of the time we eat there. She also requested that they cook it really well and make it brown which I repeated and has been a joke with the serving staff for years. "Very well done!"... As with 30% of the time, it comes out a little less cooked than she prefered, so she askes if they could brown it a bit more. The waitress who has been there about 4 yrs and knows us says no problem. 5 mins later Ed himself comes out with the plate and says in a very terse tone to my wife: "if you want it browned you have to order it that way and Im tiredof recooking your order"??? She tells him she asked for it very well done and he says: "no you didn't" and turns and walks away? Needless to say I thought he was joking as he has come out numerous times and talked and thanked us for our loyal business, pets the dogs etc... My wife didn't know what to think and was pretty upset at his attitude. I thought about it a minute and walked in. I asked Ed if he had a minute through the service window inside to which he smugly replied "not really"... To which I responded "really?". I then ask if he was joking about his comment outaide and he said "no" and he was tired of my wife sending he omelette back. He then repeated that she either order correctly or she gets what she ordered? Fyi, his attitude was very poor and scrappy as if how dare I... I informed him again she in fact did ask for it "well done-brown" and he tells me "it's not on the ticket so she didn't order it that way" to which I say I have no control over that. I also let him know his tone toward a lady was not appreciated and actuallybupsetting to her. I also told him the server was one of the best he currently had and that we had been coming there for years as we didn't want her to suffer for it. He turned and walked away to his grill and stared at me. I again asked if this was a joke and he just stood there and didnt respond. I'm guessing I was supposed to be intimdated? I gave up, walked over and paid the bill and unformed the waitress this will be the last time we come and she apologized for everything. I paid the bill, went out took two bites and we left. We've been going to Eds a long time (since it changed from the,Dutch,coffee shop) and its been an enjoyed Sunday ritual, at least twice a month for over 14 yrs and our avg bill is $30+; so you do the math. Our dogs have never been an issue and most of the locals and regulars and all the dog diners know Duke, Baxter and Toby (rip) was a local fixture there... We have also referred itb100+ tumes over the yrs so we really don't get what Eds problem is? When he started and had only a few regulars he was always friendly and we never had anything beyond poor service until today. Like I said, weve met him a bunch and he acknowledged that but he obviously had an issue with something? Maybe his head has grown with his business and he doesn't care or his ego is inflated or he's menapausal?Regardless, you don't treat a loyal regular that way and you dont have an attitude with my wife or any female imho... The food is decent. Service okay depending who you get and the best servers have left. We have many friends whom we have met there over the years or who truedbit and moved due to the service. We stuck it out as it was our weekly place but I guess the times are changing just as Glendoras demographic changes and small town atmosphere is going away with development. I had the breakfast delight with the eggs over medium, bacon and waffle. I also had an iced coffee since it was so warm out. The food was excellent and I would recommend it. The coffee was OK, but what do you expect from a diner. The service was friendly and attentive. Ed has an airplane theme going on with the menu and decorations which were inside. Excellent little spot, very unique, eclectic, it has the feel of a 50s diner, with the decore definitely old, the theme is mostly airplanes paraphernalia, since I was told Ed was a pilot, additionally decorated with old 45rpm records on the walls. The breakfast was great, one of the best made hash browns I've had in a while, served with a delicious green Chile avocado and cheese omelet. I came here with my husband for my father-in-law's birthday. The service was the first thing that stuck out to me. They're so friendly and make you laugh. They're hospitable and make you feel like an old friend when you dine here. Onto the food: I got the green chili and pepper jack cheese omelette. Hash browns on the side and biscuits and gravy. The omelette was very cheesy. Every bite gave me a mouthful of cheese. There were green chilis throughout the omelette so you'd get a taste of them every now and then. It was fluffy and tasted like it was made care. The hash browns were perfect. Crispy on the outside and nice and buttery on the inside. Again, you get a sense that it was homemade and made with care. It was delicious. The biscuits and gravy were so good! The biscuit is nice and fluffy. Once you start chewing, it almost melts in your mouth with how soft and fluffy it is. Their gravy was yummy. It reminded me of KFC's gravy (which is so good to me) but with more flavor and depth. I would definitely come here again to try more of their dishes. Dear Ed, My wife and I were downtown the other day and thought we'd grab a quick breakfast. Since we are not big eaters we decided to share an omelet. The server took our order and when we ask for a second plate the server FAILED TO MENTION "ED" CHARGES $3.25 for a second plate. I'm not talking about him actually doing anything like splitting the omelet on to two plates, I'm saying the server brought our food with a second plate under the first one. Just to be clear, you will never charge us a ridiculous $3.25 for a second plate ever again. We will never visit your restaurant again. Our waitress didn't even acknowledge us, I asked three times for some one to take our order and it never happened. The fourth time I was going to ask I saw her taking the order of a customer that had just showed up. I went to this joint Sunday morning to have breakfast the 27th of January 2019.. The staff are nice kids and service was good and that's where it ends...my wife does not eat egg yolks so she orders egg whites only. I asked the waiter do they charge extra to separate the whites from the yolks and he said yes..I asked how much and he said $3.95..I was shocked and I asked why so much and he said because the increase on the minimum wage..good God I never realized how much labor goes into separating the yolk from the white...needless to say I will never go back..besides the food sucked read more

I'm from New Mexico where we have the best food in the country in my opinion. While there are a lot of great food places in Cali that I love, it's been very difficult for me to find a breakfast place that I'm super thrilled with. That ended today when we had breakfast at Ed's. This restaurant is amazing - the food is outstanding and the service is just as good. We had the biscuits and gravy, waffles, French toast, and chicken fried steak. This is a small, quaint restaurant hidden in Glendora. We got the chili pepper and jack cheese omelette and the Belgian waffle. The home fries were cooked perfectly, and the food was a good amount. The gentleman serving us was happy to fill my container with water in addition to the cup of water he gave me. The ambiance is old planes and Marilyn Monroe's pictures. Normally I go to karas just a couple of doors down for breakfast but since there was a very loud rally going on and honking to go with it on the street we chose to go to Ed's place since it was a bit further from the noise. I've been here a couple times before and the food/service was good. Today the service was a bit spotty but I excused it bc I thought maybe they're short staffed etc. . Well when I ordered my food I asked for an ABC omelet and to substitute the bacon for steak since the waitress stated they don't have chicken. She said the steak would be an extra charge but didn't say how much and so I said that was fine thinking it would probably be in the $4 or $5 range. When I got my bill the steak was an extra $12 which is excessive. It was just a substitute in my omelet not a full on steak. So the waitress said I could take it up with "him" who I assume is Ed. So I walked in thinking this had to be a mistake and there "he" was sitting in the back with a trump poster on his table. Side note - I have nothing against trump supporters as long as they're respectful. When I questioned it he got defensive and said steak omelets cost $16. Well my omelet was much more than that and so I said it that it just didn't seem right. So he literary yanked the bill out of my hand and said forget it he'll take care of it. I told him that was not my intention that I want to pay for what's fair and he said no. His tone and demeanor was shocking. He made me feel like I was trash and not worthy of his time. I have never in my life been treated so horribly by an establishment that I'm a patron at. I don't know If it's bc I'm a Hispanic woman or if that's just how he treats everyone. I don't know .. but what I do know is that the treatment to any customer is unacceptable and I will never come back to this restaurant. Which I'm sure was his intention judging by his treatment. They are clearly not hurting for business so maybe give other restaurants your business that actually appreciate their patrons instead of disparaging them. read more

I was so excited to try this place as my go to spot around here is ALWAYS so crowded on weekends. It's really small insidE so we had to wait for an inside table. While waiting I could see what looked like amazingwaffless, sausage, pigs in a blanket. I didn't want something so sweet so I went with the chicken fried steak. Big mistake unfortunately. The biscuits and gravy were not good, and the steak was aveRage at best. Good hash browns. My wife got a spinach mushroom bacon fete omelette and loved I it. I would rate them higher based on what I saww aNd how much my wiFe enjoyed her meal but mine was so disappointing I couldn't give them more than 3 stars.
